Nurse Scheduling Problem in Pandemic Situation: An Application in Ankara City Hospital

With the Covid-19 epidemic, which first appeared in China in December 2019 and affected the world in a short time, the importance of health is increasing day by day. The increasing importance of health in combating the epidemic causes an increase in the need for hospitals and health personnels. The health personnels that have the most role in this struggle are nurses. As nurses are mentally and physically healthy, it is possible to provide better service to patients. In this study, a goal programming model has been developed in order to make November 2020 shift schedule of 50 nurses working in 4 clinics in Ankara City Hospital's General Hospital building. While developing the model; hospital rules, laws, Covid-19 measures were taken into consideration. In addition, extra precautions have been taken for the special conditions of nurses and for nurses who are in the high risk group for the trans-mission of the virus. The optimal result has been achieved by writing the developed model into the ILOG CPLEX Studio IDE program.

Prevention and Potential Treatment Strategies for Respiratory Syncytial Virus.

Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a significant viral pathogen that causes respiratory infections in infants, the elderly, and immunocompromised individuals. RSV-related illnesses impose a substantial economic burden worldwide annually. The molecular structure, function, and in vivo interaction mechanisms of RSV have received more comprehensive attention in recent times, and significant progress has been made in developing inhibitors targeting various stages of the RSV replication cycle. These include fusion inhibitors, RSV polymerase inhibitors, and nucleoprotein inhibitors, as well as FDA-approved RSV prophylactic drugs palivizumab and nirsevimab. The research community is hopeful that these developments might provide easier access to knowledge and might spark new ideas for research programs.

UNDOING GENDER: HOW YOUNG WOMEN DECIDE TO BECOME ENGINEERS

Numerous studies continue to explore the reasons for women's persistent underrepresentation in engineering education. While a large body of research has documented how the field's affiliation with masculinity deters women, rarely has sufficient consideration been given to asking women why they pursue engineering majors. Using data from 35 in-depth interviews with racially diverse women, I analyzed women's accounts of choosing engineering majors. Drawing on the sociological perspective known as undoing gender, I find that women describe how their families encouraged an interest in engineering by helping them challenge the connection between masculinity and engineering. The findings also revealed how career advice from teachers is influential in shaping their choices. Contrary to research showing that engineering careers are often unattractive to women, women frame engineering as a profession befitting of their professional and future family plans. The findings suggest that engineering does appeal to women in certain contexts and provides implications and ideas for educators and engineering outreach programs seeking to recruit women to the profession.

Linear constraints on variables in influence diagrams for causal models

The paper considers some ways of representing probabilistic causal models using Bayesian network theory (hereafter referred to as BN). These models describe well problems with different types of uncertainty. The theory of BN extended with some additional types of nodes called influence diagrams or IDs. Influence diagrams make it possible to consider a number of solution options, to evaluate them quantitatively, and to select the best of the considered options. However, it is practically impossible to find an optimal solution in an ID. It is not even possible to create a system of linear constraints on some variables in an ID, although there is a large class of practical problems with such constraints. The paper describes the idea of extending ID to describe linear constraints on some variables of the BN. In the future, it will help to use the ideas of linear programming in ID to find an optimal solution in the sense of LP for problems with different types of uncertainties and causal relationships between some variables. This work has been done under grant AP19679142 "Search for optimal solutions in Bayesian networks in models with linear constraints and linear functionals. Development of algorithms and programs " (2023-2025) of MES RK. This project will develop the theory for finding optimal solutions in Bayesian networks. Optimality will be understood in the sense of linear programming - a system of linear constraints, extremum of a linear functional. The theory will be implemented in a software product.

Influence of Learner Support Program on Management of Primary School Curriculum Implementation in Meru County, Kenya

The researcher examined influence of learner support programs on management of primary school curriculum implementation in Meru County, Kenya. Learner support programs are key concepts that need to be fully utilized; for complete realization of effective competence based curriculum management in Kenyan schools. The concern was that the idea of learner support programs is underutilized in competence based curriculum implementation in Kenya. The objective of the study was to examine influence of learner support programs on management of primary school curriculum implementation in Meru County, Kenya. The researcher used Krejcie and Morgan sample determination table to determine 364 respondents from 7000 target population. The study utilized descriptive design. The study respondents were: teachers, subject panel heads, head teachers and curriculum support officers. The research tools were questionnaires and interview guides. Inferential statistics was analyzed using Pearson’s chi-square tests. The study established that there was significant influence of learner support programs on management of primary school curriculum implementation in Meru County, Kenya. Following study findings, the researcher concluded that learner support programs are significant concept in management of primary school curriculum implementation in Kenyan schools. Therefore, the researcher recommended that ministry of education should encourage learner support programs for effective curriculum implementation management in Kenyan primary schools.

This study aims to present ideas for new elderly job programs and the possibility of developing elderly job programs through case analysis of participant-integrated elderly job and social activity support projects. To this end, we looked at the Dreaming Roasters and Baker Project of the Busan Yeonje Senior Club, which was selected as a support project for the Community Chest of Korea in 2022.
 This project is based on the Social Welfare Community Chest's sustainable development goals of strengthening the education and self-reliance capabilities of the target, creating quality jobs, and creating a gap between appropriate technology and information technology as a social activity support project for the independent life of elderly parents and children with disabilities.
 It seems that the following efforts are needed to develop participant integrated elderly jobs and social activity support through a one-year pilot project. First, it is necessary to revise the guidelines for the use of profits. Second, there is a need for a systematic support system. Third, the flexibility of project participants must be recognized. Fourth, business item development education and marketing mix education are necessary. Finally, for the continuous development of this project, some projects carried out by senior clubs need to seek conversion to social enterprises.

Three etudes on compiling, or How to use the Julia language to study generated machine code

The article demonstrates the ability of the Julia programming language to output an assembly text for any function written in Julia, which is interesting for education. The executable code for three illustrative examples is examined in detail: calculation by formula, branching and cyclic fragments. It is shown that Julia compiler really generates a carefully optimized program, trying to use the fastest executing instructions of the Intel processor. It successfully tries to do without time-consuming arithmetic operations (if possible, the values are calculated in advance, multiplication is replaced by shift and so on). The results for integer data are especially impressive. It is possible to see a whole range of optimization techniques, including those that take into account the features of the algorithm itself: for example, the compiler is able to predict the results of the simplest loop and exclude this loop from the final program. The problem of overflow control in a program is also discussed.The consideration carried out convincingly confirms the usefulness of theoretical knowledge for developing an effectively working program. The described analysis technique is interesting for education, because the importance of a deep understanding by modern specialists of the programming process essence cannot be overestimated. The material can be useful in teaching programming ideas at different levels. The detailed presentation makes the article readable without special preparation.

The Nature of Ideological and Political Education in Colleges and Universities Based on Deep Learning Models and Its Development

Abstract In this paper, first of all, after extracting the character sequence information, a certain scale of the corpus is obtained by using a crawler, and a corpus in the field of ideological and political education, as well as a participle system, is constructed. Then, the sequence decoding problem is solved by combining the idea of dynamic programming, based on the word level N-gram language algorithm, to design and implement an efficient solution method and calculate the final result of the participle. Finally, the keywords of related literature are classified, the essential dimensions of ideological and political education can be derived, and the essence of ideological and political education is explored and analyzed by using the word division algorithm. The results show that the most important essence of ideological and political education is “educating people’s feelings” with a weight value of 0.46, and among the 24 secondary nodes, there are 19 items with coefficients of variation less than or equal to 0.3, which shows that the degree of consistency is high, indicating that the degree of importance of the essence of ideological and political education is also high.

Is Decoloniality a New Turn in Postcolonialism?

Abstract A new orientation appeared in cultural studies at the turn of the twenty-first century. As it centers around the concept, “decoloniality,” it has been called the “decolonial turn” by some scholars. Since the decolonial turn addresses “decoloniality,” one would think it signals a new orientation in postcolonial studies. Proponents of “decoloniality,” however, have denied it as a concept of postcolonialism and even regretted its conflation with postcolonialism and decolonization. This article critically examines major ideas in the decoloniality program in relation to issues of postcolonialism and argues for its placement in the context of postcolonialism so as to enrich postcolonial studies and advance the project of decoloniality.

Digital Authentic Resource and Activity Needs of English Major Students for Autonomous Learning through Self-Access Center (SAC)

To boost English major students’ autonomous learning beyond classroom learning through the Self-Access Center (SAC), the provision of learning resources and activities in SAC should meet their needs. The issue that arises is that little is known about the specific needs of autonomous learning in SAC for English major students. This research focuses on autonomous learning based on the needs of digital authentic resources and activities through SAC as accelerated learning outside the classroom for students majoring in English. A mixed method was applied based on the need analysis model by Hutchinson and Waters (1987). Around 51 English major students of UMM as users of “American Corner” (Amcor) UMM were required to fill out the questionnaires consisting of 6 questions adapted from Ortiz (2006) and 16 of them were selected as interview participants. Observation was also held to support both data. The findings revealed the digital authentic resource needed, lacking, and wanted the most by English major students. Additionally, the types of activities needed the most to support autonomous learning in SAC were also described. The implication of the research is for SAC managers to consider future development and recommendations of resource provision as well as ideas for forthcoming programs of SAC based on the identified needs particularly for the English major students.

Sistem Buka-Tutup Sebuah Pintu Rumah Menggunakan Face Recognition Berbasis Mikrokontroler

Internet of Things technology is now widely used in all aspects of life including the application of smart homes. An automation technology is used to facilitate access at home, as well as access to the entrance of the house that uses facial image recognition (face detection). Human facial image recognition is one of the important technologies that continues to develop in the field of computer vision with its application in biometric recognition systems. One of them is by using the facial image recognition method, the Haar Cascade Classifier Algorithm. Therefore, a house door open-close system with facial recognition is designed using the ESP32-Cam module as a camera sensor. Face images were taken using the ESP32-Cam camera and processed using the ESP32 Microcontroller through the Arduino IDE program. Recognition results will be forwarded from the microcontroller to the PIR sensor, DC motor, buzzer, LED and website. The test result of this system is that if the detected face ID matches the data base, the PIR sensor will be active to detect the movement of objects in front of the entrance. When motion is detected, the buzzer as an alarm will be ON and the door will open and close automatically. If Face ID is not detected then the door will not open.

Co-designing a community lifestyle intervention program to reduce postpartum weight retention.

Postpartum weight retention is a major contributor to obesity in later life resulting in long-term health consequences in women. Postpartum lifestyle interventions are known to be effective in reducing postpartum weight retention and improving the overall health and wellbeing of mothers but have poor reach and engagement. This study describes the engagement of mothers with young children in the development of a theory- and evidence-based intervention to reduce postpartum weight retention. A participatory design methodology with input from a community mothers'group, literature reviewsand an expert advisory group was applied. Mothers who were members of 'Mothers of Preschoolers' (MOPS) were invited to participate in a focus group discussion and two co-design workshop sessions. Thirteen women participated in a focus group discussion and 12 women in each co-design workshop. We found that mothers valued having social support from their peers, practical support such as meal delivery, and learning opportunities that focus on the mother's health and wellbeing. The advisory group suggested leveraging the unique skills and prior experiences of mothers within the group and developing a curriculum that mothers can be trained to deliver. A program that emphasizes the strengths and value of mothers can increase their self-worth and self-confidence resulting in intrinsic motivation to improve lifestyle behaviours. An intervention designed to be implemented by MOPS for its members and incorporated into their regular sessions has the potential for feasibility and acceptability among mothers with young children. Mothers with young children were part of the program planners and were involved in the design and conduct of this study and in the interpretation of the findings. A member of a community mothers'group recruited other mothers with young children within the group to participate in a series of sessions to discuss their experiences of the postpartum period and preferences for a lifestyle program. The mothers identified the behavioural outcomes and program goals for a postpartum lifestyle program and then generated the program ideas based on these.

Global optimisation matching method for multi-representation buildings constrained by road network

Entity matching is one of the key technologies for geospatial data update and fusion. In response to the shortcomings of most spatial entity matching methods that use local optimisation strategies, a global optimisation matching method for multi-representation buildings using road network constraints is proposed. First, the road network is used for region segmentation to obtain candidate matches. Second, the spatial similarity among the candidate matching objects is calculated and the characteristic similarity weights are determined using the entropy weight method. Third, the matching of building entities is transformed into an allocation problem using integer programming ideas, and the Hungarian algorithm is solved to obtain the optimal matching combination with minimum global variance. Finally, two test areas are selected to validate the proposed method, and the precision, recall, and F-measure values of the experiments are 96.35%, 97.11%, and 96.73% versus 95.96%, 97.03%, and 96.49%, respectively. The matching accuracy is greatly improved compared with the local search strategy.

Processing used cooking oil waste into bar soap for washing clothes as an effort to reduce environmental pollution is the aim of the student-entrepreneurship creativity program (PKM-K). The use of used cooking oil as a basic ingredient for bar soap for washing clothes which has economic value to provide innovative and creative ideas. The implementation methods used are lectures and discussions, practice and demonstrations, and evaluation. The results of this program become discussion material to find out program ideas. Next is practice and demonstration of selecting materials and providing a place as well as facilities and infrastructure to support the production process. Process (production), the process of making clothing bar soap. The output is a J-Clean product that is ready to be used and marketed to consumers. The last is evaluation, namely this stage is carried out when product production has been completed. The conclusion of the PKM-K program is processing used cooking oil waste into bar soap which is economically valuable and can create business opportunities for students.

Ideas of Klein and Merane program are discussed in this article. The influence and experience of foreign countries in creating the mathematics syllab us are introduced. Results of analysis Lithuanian mathematics syllabus and foreign counties (France, Austria, Germany, Italy) of this period are presented in this article.

Real-time photovoltaic energy assessment using a GSM-based smart monitoring system: Addressing the impact of climate change on solar energy estimation software

Climate change is altering weather patterns, leading to increased variability in cloud cover, precipitation, and temperature. These changing patterns make it more challenging to accurately forecast solar radiation levels, which directly impact solar energy generation. This study, evaluates the solar energy potential using a real-time GSM-based communication system combined with an off-grid PV power plant in Tehran and Ahvaz, two regions in Iran with contrasting climates. To measure the output voltage, C++ language programming was used in Arduino_IDE programming language was utilized along with an Arduino Nano board, ATmega328P microcontroller, and sensors for measuring current, voltage, temperature, humidity, and time. The recorded data was sent through short message service. The results were compared with simulations from PVsyst, PVGIS, and the Global Solar Atlas. The findings revealed that the PV power production potential in Tehran, which is characterized by a cold and wet climate, was 4.101 kwh.kwp −1 with a capacity factor of 17.09%. In contrast, Ahvas, with its warm and dry climate, had a potential of 3.271 kwh.kwp −1 and a capacity factor of 13.63%. These values differed significantly from the estimates provided by PVsyst and the Global Solar Atlas. The Global Solar Atlas overestimated the PV potential by 15% and 18.2% in Tehran and Ahvaz, respectively, while PVsyst underestimated it by more than 15% in both locations. The real-time energy production was measured at 246.1 Wh and 196.27 Wh, compared to the estimated values of 283 Wh and 232 Wh from the Global Solar Atlas, 178.36 Wh and 142.63 Wh from PVsyst, and 221.4 Wh and 196.9 Wh from PVGIS in Tehran and Ahvaz, respectively. These results underscore the importance of accounting for recent climate changes when predicting near real-time solar generation, particularly in remote areas and regions that deviate from global trends.

Familiarity, Autonomy, and Safety Together (FAST): A program for adults with dementia and their caregivers

Almost 50 million people worldwide are currently living with dementia, with approximately half a million and six million of those people living in Canada and the United States, respectively. Familiarity, Autonomy, and Safety Together (FAST) is a program idea for adults living with dementia and their family caregivers that draws upon the ideas of familiarity, autonomy, and safety that underlie dementia villages, a recent development in residential care facilities for people living with dementia. FAST uses themed stations that emphasize familiarity and which program participants living with dementia can move about and participate in at will, providing an often lost sense of autonomy. At the same time, caregivers, who often suffer from burnout and related problems, are provided an opportunity to socialize with each other and receive education and support. In this way, people living with dementia and their caregivers can independently benefit from the FAST program. Further, many libraries will be able to provide the FAST program at little or no cost to the library, and a modified version of the FAST program can be brought to patrons in other locations, such as a residential care facility.

Smart Door Lock Menggunakan Identifikasi Wajah dan Bot Telegram Sebagai Kendali Jarak Jauh Berbasis IoT

Technological advances are expected to be able to meet growing human needs. One of the things that needs to be considered is door security, and one method to achieve this level of security is by utilizing technology. This research will explore the working principles of door locks that adopt facial identification as an alternative to conventional keys. In this research, conventional keys will be replaced by a facial identification system that operates based on a specified command sequence. The data resulting from the facial identification process will be collected by the ESP32-CAM device, then transferred to the computer to be compared with the available data. The computer uses the Arduino IDE programming language. This research will adopt quantitative methods, which include literature study and direct observation as data collection techniques. The collected data will be analyzed to reach conclusions. In this research, Telegram is also used as a means of remote control which will connect automatically when the system is activated and will be processed by the NodeMCU-ESP8266. The results of this research show that the ESP32-CAM can identify faces with a response time of between 2.69 s – 3.24 s and the distance for face reading is up to a maximum distance of 80 cm. Test results on Telegram show that the response time obtained by the Telegram bot to control the key on the NodeMCU-ESP8266 is between 4.19 s – 4.48 s for each different location.

Background/Objectives The Centre for Family Medicine Mobility Clinic strives to provide high quality primary care to persons living with spinal cord injury or other health conditions that affect mobility. The Mobility Clinic Resource Abilities Council (MC RAC) was established to serve in an advisory capacity, making recommendations on matters that impact the experience of patients with physical disabilities and their support persons at the Mobility Clinic. Objectives MC RAC provides feedback on, and ideas for initiatives and programs that support and enhance the model of person-centred care. It also advances collaborative patient engagement and person-centred care principles and practices within primary care for persons with physical disabilities Methods/Overview Members include individuals with lived experience with physical disability, their support persons, and Mobility Clinic staff. The council was established August 2022 and meets virtually once per month for approximately 90 minutes. Results MC RAC has successfully met nine times and has provided feedback on the following topics: Breast & Cervical Cancer screening Initiative for People with Physical Disabilities, Mobility Clinic website development, building pathways for advocacy with the KW4 OHT, Circulus Network webinar topics, Mobility Clinic organization and clinical flow. Feedback to be implemented into Mobility Clinic activities. Conclusions Patient and support persons involvement in decision-making processes improve care experiences and contribute to better health outcomes for patients. We will continue to work and develop our patient advisory council to better support the Mobility Clinic’s patients and their support persons.

Development of a hot weather warning tool for heat index monitoring in Thailand

This study aims to develop and test an extremely hot weather warning tool. The tool consists of a Node MCU ESP8266 microcontroller, air temperature and relative humidity sensor (DHT22), real time clock module (DS3231), micro-SD-card adapter (HW-125), display screen (2004A), and breadboard-shield. It is connected and controlled by Arduino IDE program. Its measurement ranges for temperature, humidity, and heat index are <10 to >50°C, 0 to 100%, and <27 to >50°C, respectively. This device also presents real-time health impacts by displaying one of five warning levels, namely 1) normal level (HI < 27°C), 2) caution level (HI 27°C to <32°C), 3) extreme caution level (HI 32°C to <41°C), 4) danger level (HI 41°C to <54°C), and 5) extreme danger level (HI ≥ 54°C). The data can be directly transferred to a computer by a card adapter. Based on validation with the occupational health and safety standards instrument, no outliers or missing data were found. HIEHT had a highly positive correlation with HIQT36 (r=0.99; p<0.01; n=4,182). Heat Index data measured by this tool was found to have acceptable values with a bias of 0.54 and RMSE of 0.99. For the pilot areas tested, it was found that the extremely hot weather warning tool can fully measure and record, as well as continuously display the results according to the tested date and time. These results show that the developed tool is a simple, easy-to-use, inexpensive, tiny, and portable instrument that can be used to monitor and measure heat to widely communicate extremely hot weather warning information to vulnerable groups and the general public in the community.
