Today"s soccer-related industry is an area that content platform companies such as Amazon, Netflix, and Apple are also interested in. Although the economy is difficult due to the recent COVID-19, professional soccer leagues such as the Premier League, Bundesliga, Serie A, and Korea"s K League, including regional qualifiers for the World Cup, are continuously operating. In this situation, it is necessary to study the factors related to athletic performance in order to activate the professional soccer league more so that it can contribute to the development of the soccer-related industry. In accordance with this research purpose, in this study, the athletic performance factors were explored using statistical methods such as cluster analysis for the match records shown in the 2020 K League 1 technical report. As a result, the variables that had a significant effect on the scoring variable for the upper and lower split teams were ‘shooting per point’ and ‘key pass per game’ at the significance level of 5%. And within the significance level of 10% or less, there are 9 statistically significant variables such as ‘average ball share (%)’, ‘cross attempts (times)’, ‘goalkeeper save rate (%)’, and ‘clearing (times)’. Furthermore, as a result of hierarchical clustering analysis and k-means clustering analysis, it was found that each team was relatively accurately classified into splits A and B. Therefore, based on the results of this study, it can be said that the 2020 K-League Technical Report is very useful for evaluating the athletic performance of K-League 1.
