Point defects production and interaction are studied by luminescence technique under various conditions of implantation and annealing. New data are presented on the structure and transformation of nitrogen defect complexes. The luminescence due to centres containing implanted atoms of hydrogen, helium, neon and some metals is observed for the first time. The importance of interstitial configurations in ion-implanted diamond is emphasized.
