Study of Stir Casting and Microstructure of Al-B<sub>4</sub>C MMCs

The economic, performance, and environmental advantages of accepting Aluminium (Al) metal matrix composites (MMCs) over steel, cast iron and light alloys are driving forces behind their utilisation. The transportation industry benefits from reduced noise, reduced emissions from airplanes, and reduced fuel use. Continuous research in this field has resulted in improved manufacturing procedures, allowing these Aluminium based composite materials to be used in aerospace industry, marine and vehicle applications rather than most monolithic materials. The industrial sector is rapidly developing, which increases demand for innovative materials. In cases where 'wear' is a critical issue, conservative materials and alloys have limits in reaching the appropriate hard characteristic. Al-MMCs are composite materials that contain Al or an alloy of Al. It acts as the matrix and the reinforcement distributed across the matrix. Common reinforcing materials include fibres, whiskers, and particles. Because of its enhanced density, great hardness, and thermal stability, ceramic reinforcement is the most used. However, they have limits such as less ability to wet and compatibility with the Al matrix. The major production processes for Al-MMCs are powder and liquid metallurgy. All the manufacturing procedures outlined are appropriate, however casting with stir to mix is cost-effective, particularly for big production runs. The distribution of reinforcement evenly to generate a flaw-free structure at micro level and hence raise the resistance to hard behaviour is a critical difficulty in the synthesis of MMCs of Al. Al-MMCs with particle reinforcement have increased mechanical characteristics and wear resistance. Furthermore, the production of MMCs reinforced with particulates is an exciting task, with questions arising due to ductility decline as the weight percent of ceramic particulate reinforcement is increased, gravity segregation due to denser particulates, and oxidation due to the use of Al alloy, which is very susceptible to oxidation. In the present study Al6061-3% B4C MMCs have been developed by stir casting technique. Al6061 is an extruded raw material as purchased from the supplier (and not an ingot) used before remelting and manufacturing the MMCs. The microstructure of the manufactured Al-alloy and Al-MMCs are evaluated. It is observed that stir casting is a suitable method to manufacture Al-MMCs.

A short study on the potential use and effect of bamboo leaf ash as reinforcement in MMCs

In an effort, to find more affordable ways to produce metal matrix composites, a number of attempts have been attempted to use the waste from industry and agriculture as reinforcement. The incorporation of agro-industrial garbage as reinforcement in MMCs has gained considerable attention as it improves the composite materials' mechanical and tribological characteristics. Employing such agro-industrial leftovers in a beneficial way lowers production costs and environmental degradation. An ample amount of work has been carried out on utilizing agricultural wastes including bagasse ash, rice husk, sawdust ash, corncob ash, straw husk etc. Very limited work has been reported upon the utilization of bamboo leaf as a reinforcement and its potential for any mechanical and/or tribological applications. This study provides an overview of the literature on the usage of agricultural waste i.e.,bamboo leaf ash in MMCs. It also illustrates the production procedure and characterization of BLA-induced MMCs. The current study also discusses potential applications for BLA and its reinforced composites.

Characterization, LCA and FEA for an efficient ecodesign of novel stainless steel woven wire mesh reinforced recycled aluminum alloy matrix composite

The production of metal matrix composites generally requires higher energy and raw materials consumption, while generating more waste than conventional material processing. The possibility of reusing recycled aluminum as an alternative in the production of metal matrix composites has led to the interest in this research as it can contribute to aluminum waste and raw reduction as well as to environmental impact mitigation. This paper provides an in-depth investigation of a brand-new metal matrix composite that is produced by gravity casting. In turn, the process is based on recycled aluminum EN AW 6082 for the matrix that is reinforced with stainless steel AISI 304 woven wire mesh that is intended for industrial and commercial use. A detailed description of the production procedure is reviewed, as are the vales of toughness, yield and tensile strengths that were determined by standardized tensile and Charpy tests. Life Cycle Assessment and Finite Element Analysis were used to determine, respectively, the environmental impact and the residual stresses generated during the production of the specimens for the above mentioned tests. Five different opening and wire diameter configurations for the AISI 304 woven wires were studied in this work. In a comparison to recycled aluminum alloy EN AW 6082 without reinforcement, the best results were provided by the 2.177 mm × 0.6 mm configuration. These results were the following: (1) Yield, tensile strength and toughness showed an increase of 245.5%, 13.62% and 175.0% respectively. (2) Life Cycle Assessment increased 8.31% for the highest environmental impact obtained (Human Toxicity). (3) The Finite Element Analysis showed that the residual stresses increased in their compressive values in −10.83 MPa, −9.925 MPa and −3.84 MPa, respectively, for the stainless steel wires, aluminum matrix and wire/matrix interfaces. From the mechanical properties, the environmental impacts and the residual stresses that were obtained, one can conclude that this study has demonstrated a technically feasible practical approach to the use of the recycled aluminum alloy EN AW 6082 using AISI 304 stainless steel woven wires as materials in the metal matrix composites production. This could lead to a substantial reduction in the volume of aluminum used and, consequently, provide environmental and economic benefits.

Impacts of Temperature and Time on Direct Nitridation of Aluminium Powders for Preparation of AlN Reinforcement

Aluminium nitride (AlN) is an important technical ceramic with outstanding strength and thermal conductivity that has important applications for advanced heat sink materials and as a reinforcement for metal-based composites. In this study, we report a novel, straightforward and low-cost method to prepare AlN powder using a vacuum tube furnace for the direct nitridation of loose aluminium powder at low temperatures (down to 500 ∘C) under flowing high-purity nitrogen. Small amounts of magnesium powder (1 wt.%), combined with aluminium, promote nitridation. Here, we characterise the effects of time (up to 12 h) and temperature (490 to 560 ∘C) on nitridation with the aim to establish an effective regimen for the controlled synthesis of an aluminium nitride reinforcement powder for the production of metal matrix composites. The extent of nitridation and the morphology of the reaction products were assessed using scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction analyses. AlN was detected for all nitriding temperatures ≥ 500 ∘C, with the highest yields of 80% to 85% obtained at 530 ∘C for times ≥ 1 h. At this temperature, nitridation proceeded rapidly, and there was extensive agglomeration of the reaction products making it difficult to reprocess into powder. At lower temperatures around 510 ∘C, a relatively high proportion of AlN was attained (>73% after 6 h) while retaining excellent friability so that it could be manually reprocessed to powder. The synthesised reinforcement consisted of micro- or nano-crystalline AlN comingled with metallic aluminium. The ratio of AlN and metallic aluminium can be readily controlled by varying the nitriding temperature. This provides a flexible and accessible method for the production of AlN-reinforcement powders suited to the production of metal matrix composites.

Applicability of Industrial Wastes in Metal Matrix Composites Production – A Review

The review study is to investigate the possibility of utilizing industrial waste materials as a strengthening component in the manufacturing of metal-matrix composites (MMCs) and assess the associated environmental benefits. The study focused on examining two distinct sets of waste materials: metal matrix composites that were reinforced with fly ash, and composites produced from different kinds of industrial waste materials. Technical and property-related data were reviewed to evaluate the potential of these waste materials in MMC production. The study results indicated that fly ash-reinforced metal-matrix composites exhibited exceptional physical and mechanical properties, which make them well-suited for various applications, particularly in the automotive sector. The research highlights the necessity for further studies to innovate advanced materials with improved properties while mitigating environmental pollution. Overall, the research demonstrates the potential of utilizing industrial waste materials as reinforcement in MMC production and underscores the importance of this approach for the future development of advanced materials.

Evaluation of Properties of MMC Al 6061 with Boron Carbide and Silicon Carbide as Reinforcements

This research examines the properties of metal matrix composites (MMCs) made from aluminium 6061 T6 with boron carbide and silicon carbide. Aluminium material is a matrix metal with appealing features such as lightweight in nature, high strength and machining with ease. Stir casting is less expensive, simple and used for mass production of MMCs. By adding B4C as (2%, 4%, 6% and 8%) and SiC as constant (5%) reinforcement, the samples are fabricated. The hardness in the material tends to extend by adding the proportion of reinforcement in the metal matrix. Increasing the content of B4C and SiC particles, the MMCs have superior wear resistance.

Non-lubricated dry sliding wear activities of Al7075/Fly ash nanocomposites by exploring grey based Taguchi optimization

Aluminium Matrix Composite is becoming increasingly popular because of its higher specific strength and stiffness than monolithic metal. The use of fly ash particulate reinforcement has a substantial impact on the production of metal matrix composites due to its low cost in comparison to other reinforcements, emphasized mechanical properties, and increased wear resistance capacity. The wear resistance behaviour of a stir cast fly ash reinforced aluminium matrix composite is investigated in this paper. EDX and SEM analysis show that the fly ash particulates reinforced aluminium matrix composite is properly formed and distributed uniformly throughout the matrix. Four key factors were changed to obtain an effective wear rate: the amount of fly ash, the applied weight, the sliding velocity, and the sliding distance. S/N ratio revealed the optimized parameter combination of wear rate is 6 wt% fly ash reinforcement, 20 N load, 3 m/s sliding velocity, and 2000 m sliding distance. According to an ANOVA study, the applied load had the biggest impact on the other values (50.23 %).

Production of metal matrix composites based on aluminum-manganese bronze and nickel alloys by wire feed electron-beam additive manufacturing

Samples of composite materials based on BrAMts9-2 bronze with the introduction of the Udimet500 and Inconel625 nickel alloys were obtained by wire-feed electron-beam technology. The studies show that the structures of composites formed during printing, although fairly similar due to the same base of the alloys, have different features due to different combinations of alloying elements. The mechanical properties of the samples with the introduction of up to 15 % of the Udimet500 alloy are higher than those of the samples of the second material. With the introduction of 25 % of a nickel alloy, the strength is higher for the composite material samples with the introduction of the Inconel625 alloy. The microhardness of the samples with the introduction of 5 % of a nickel alloy is identical, the introduction of large volumes of a nickel alloy leads to the implementation of greater hardness in the samples with the introduction of the Inconel625 alloy due to the higher content of refractory materials. Relative elongation after rupture varies insignificantly for the samples of both types.

Processing, Mechanical Characterization, and Electric Discharge Machining of Stir Cast and Spray Forming-Based Al-Si Alloy Reinforced with ZrO2 Particulate Composites

High performance lightweight structures made of metal matrix composites (MMCs) are in demand for application in variety of industries such as aircraft, spacecraft, automobile, marine, sports equipment, etc. However, uniform distribution of the reinforcement phase to improve the mechanical properties and quality of MMCs has been the challenge for the manufacturing industries. Hence, researchers are focusing on the development of traditional low-cost method of producing metal matrix composites. In the view of above facts, an attempt is made to study the processing and characterization of Si-Al alloy reinforced with zirconium dioxide particulate composites in this paper. Hence, this paper concentrates on experimentally identifying the effect of stir cast and spray forming processing techniques followed by hot pressing on micro hardness, compressive strength, and tensile strength using Taguchi’s design of experiments for aluminum silicon matrix alloy reinforced with zirconium dioxide particulates. From the extensive experimentation on aluminum and silicon reinforced with the ZrO2 powder particulates, it was observed that there was an improvement in selected mechanical properties as the percentage of ZrO2 increased with 13 wt.% of silicon under spray forming processing technique compared to stir cast composites. This may be due to uniform distribution homogenous dispersion, larger work hardening rate, and structure of dislocation tangles around the ZrO2 particulates that occurred during spray forming processing technique. Further, results obtained from the interaction plot, contour plot, main effects plot, and analysis of variance (ANOVA) proved to be successful for identifying the optimum processing parameters for Si-Al alloy reinforced with zirconium dioxide particulate composites. Further, this paper also discusses wear study using pin on disc wear testing apparatus on spray forming processed aluminum and silicon (13.0 wt.%) alloy reinforced with the ZrO2 powder particulates based on Taguchi’s design of experiments followed by second order model generation for wear using response surface methodology. Finally, electrode wear study of spray forming processed aluminum and silicon alloy reinforced with the ZrO2 powder particulates using electric discharge machining by varying peak current (A), pulse on time (μs), and pulse off time (μs) using brass, copper, and graphite as electrode material based on L27orthogonal array. The understanding gained from the design of experiments in this paper can be used to develop future guidelines for processing and characterization of Si-Al alloy reinforced with zirconium dioxide particulate composites.

Break through the strength-ductility trade-off dilemma in aluminum matrix composites via precipitation-assisted interface tailoring

Strength-ductility trade-off is usually an inevitable scenario in most engineering materials, including metal matrix composites (MMCs) where reinforcement particles significantly degrade ductility. The decrease of ductility is mainly attributed to dislocation pile-ups at the high mismatch interface between reinforcement particles and matrix, which can not lead to effective dislocation multiplication and annihilation, finally leading to a low work hardening rate. To address this challenge, herein we propose a precipitation-assisted interface tailoring (PAIT) mechanism to improve the coherency of interface between reinforcement particles and matrix by introducing an interphase (IP). To achieve this PAIT mechanism, we design a manufacturing process combining the conventional casting, friction stir processing (FSP), hot extrusion with heat treatment. A TiB2/Al-Zn-Mg-Cu composite fabricated with this process shows higher strength and ductility, which stand out from most available Al-based materials. In this composite, a Mg(Zn1.5Cu0.5) IP is introduced to improve the coherency and strength of the TiB2/Al interface by transforming the high mismatch TiB2/Al interface into the low mismatch TiB2/IP/Al multi-interfaces (i.e. sandwich structure). This effectively promotes dislocation multiplication and subsequent dislocation annihilation to increase the work hardening rate by restricting the dislocation pile-ups surrounding the interface, thus leading to a higher ductility. Our study aims to overcome the strength-ductility trade-off of MMCs by tailoring interface structure, which can provide insight into the production of high-performance MMCs.

Mechanical and Thermal Properties of Aluminum Matrix Composites Reinforced by In Situ Al2O3 Nanoparticles Fabricated via Direct Chemical Reaction in Molten Salts

The development of novel methods for industrial production of metal-matrix composites with improved properties is extremely important. An aluminum matrix reinforced by “in situ” α-Al2O3 nanoparticles was fabricated via direct chemical reaction between molten aluminum and rutile TiO2 nanopowder under the layer of molten salts at 700–800 °C in air atmosphere. Morphology, size, and distribution of the in situ particles, as well as the microstructure and mechanical properties of the composites were investigated by XRD, SEM, Raman spectra, and hardness and tensile tests. Synthesized aluminum–alumina composites with Al2O3 concentration up to 19 wt.% had a characteristic metallic luster, their surfaces were smooth without any cracks and porosity. The obtained results indicate that the “in situ” particles were mainly cube-shaped on the nanometer scale and uniform matrix distribution. The concentration of Al2O3 nanoparticles depended on the exposure time and initial precursor concentration, rather than on the synthesis temperature. The influence of the structure of the studied materials on their ultimate strength, yield strength, and plasticity under static loads was established. It is shown that under static uniaxial tension, the cast aluminum composites containing aluminum oxide nanoparticles demonstrated significantly increased tensile strength, yield strength, and ductility. The microhardness and tensile strength of the composite material were by 20–30% higher than those of the metallic aluminum. The related elongation increased three times after the addition of nano-α Al2O3 into the aluminum matrix. Composite materials of the Al-Al2O3 system could be easily rolled into thin and ductile foils and wires. They could be re-melted for the repeated application.

Strengthening of Mg-Al-Zn-Mn alloy using SiC/Al nanocomposite extrusion

The use of lightweight alloys such as magnesium (Mg) is critical for achieving improved fuel efficiency and reduced emissions for automobiles, as well as increased range for electric vehicles. To promote their use in industry, in replacing iron-based alloys, their mechanical properties must be improved. This can be achieved through the addition of fine ceramic particles, producing metal matrix composites. One of the most promising alloys of Mg is Mg-Al-Zn-Mn alloy. The current work examined the influence of SiC nanoparticles on the microstructure and mechanical properties of Mg-Al-Zn-Mn alloy composites. The additives were prepared via the extrusion of aluminum powder combined with 60 nm SiC particles. The resultant grain refinement was indeed significant, with a 54 % reduction for the 0.02 wt% SiC addition level. In addition, a more uniform dispersion of the β-Mg17Al12 phase and fine spherical clusters of Mg2Si were observed using scanning electron microscopy. The favorable morphology of the Mg2Si intermetallics and the fine grain size resulted in an improvement in tensile strength of approximately 32 %. The enhancements in mechanical properties were attributed to the Hall-Petch mechanism. Thus, the SiC-containing composite materials may be effectively used for light-alloy strengthening, leading to increased use of Mg alloys in industry.

Recent advancements in the production of hybrid metal matrix composites (HMMC): A Review

Industries are currently concentrating on materials that can replace monolithic metals and alloys. The transition from monolithic to advanced materials has resulted in the development novel materials. These materials have better properties than traditional ones, such as high-temperature resistance, increased specific stiffness, increased specific strength, and other mechanical and tribological properties. Metal matrix composites (MMCs) are currently gaining more attention as a critical engineering material due to their superior characteristics over monolithic materials. These MMCs have wide applications in the automotive, aerospace, defense, and marine industries. This makes them worthy of further investigation as potential alternative materials. This paper attempts to review the current advances in producing hybrid metal matrix composites (HMMCs). In addition, the article covers the impact of matrix material selection, reinforcement, and processing techniques on the production of metal matrix composites.

Feasibility of using contactless electromagnetic cavitation for steel composite manufacturing

This work investigates the feasibility of using contactless electromagnetic sonication for dispersing and refining the strengthening phase in iron and steel for ferrous metal matrix composite production. An oscillating pressure field is generated under superimposed alternating (0.13 T) and steady magnetic fields (up to 8 T). The processing employs a static floating-zone technique and is crucible-free. This approach allows to reach an around 0.8 MPa pressure oscillation amplitude that is sufficient to initiate acoustic cavitation in high melting temperature liquid metals. The viability of different reinforcement dispersions, both ex situ and in situ using this electromagnetic sonication, is explored in the context of the production of oxide dispersion strengthened steel and high modulus steel. Physical methods of processing melts of metal matrix composites: Сurrent state and prospects

This review focuses on the known theoretical and experimental results in the field of obtaining metal matrix composite materials by processing the melts using physical methods in the conditions of casting and metallurgical processes. The possibilities, advantages and disadvantages of various physical impact methods are considered from the standpoint of their effect on the structural and morphological characteristics, physicomechanical and operational properties of cast composite materials based on aluminum and its alloys. The paper provides a classification and a detailed description of physical methods used for melt processing when obtaining metal matrix composites depending on the melt state during processing (melting, pouring and crystallization) and according to the physical principle of the effects applied (thermal, electromagnetic, cavitation, mechanical, etc). The paper describes a contemporary view of the laws and mechanisms of the effect exerted by melt processing using physical methods on the structure and phase formation processes of as-cast metal matrix composites. The currently known effects of the impact on their structure are described from a qualitative and quantitative point of view, in particular, effects associated with a change in the wettability of particles, their distribution, dispersion and morphology, as well as with a change in the structural state of the matrix material. The paper systematizes the data on the properties of metal matrix composites obtained using physical impacts on the melt during melting and crystallization. The research shows the prospects for the development and practical application of physical impact methods for melts in the production of metal matrix composites based on various matrix materials and reinforcement systems including endogenously, exogenously and integrally reinforced composite materials. Priority areas of theoretical research and experimental development are discussed highlighting discussion areas and issues in the field of obtaining metal matrix composites using physical impacts on melts during melting and crystallization. Areas for future research in this field are proposed based on the systematic analysis of key problems limiting the widespread industrial use of physical methods for melt processing.

Strength and ductility enhancement of AZ61/Al2O3/SiC hybrid composite by ECAP processing

Magnesium is a low-density metal which is used in extensive structural applications such as load-bearing components in the automobile industry. To improve the strength and ductility of the magnesium alloys, method of production of metal matrix composites have been developed. In this study, AZ61 magnesium alloy was reinforced with hybrid particles (2 wt% Al2O3 and 1 wt% SiC) fabricated by the stir casting method. Then, the casted samples were homogenized at 410 °C for 24 h, aged at 200 °C for 10 h followed by severe plastic deformation (SPD) processing using equal channel angular pressing (ECAP). The obtained microstructure observation showed that the hybrid reinforcement particles were uniformly distributed in the metal matrix. After the ECAP process, the grain size was significantly reduced from 148.79 ± 79 µm to 12.2 ± 8 µm due to the dynamic recrystallization (DRX) mechanism during the plastic deformation. The mechanical properties of hardness, yield strength (YS), ultimate tensile strength (UTS), and elongation are effectively improved after each ECAP pass; the maximum values achieved were 61.2 ± 4.6 HV, 110.3 MPa, 250.1 MPa, and 19.3%, respectively on the AZ61/Al2O3/SiC hybrid composite subjected to two passes of ECAP. The enhancement of the mechanical properties of the AZ61 hybrid composites was mainly attributed to the Hall-Petch strengthening mechanism.

Experimental investigation of tensile fractography and wear properties of Al-12.5Si alloy reinforced with ZrO2 using spray deposition method

To improve the wear resistance of Al–12.5Si alloy, various percentage of zirconium oxide as reinforcement particles were used to produce metal matrix composites by spray deposition method. First, the developed metal matrix composites were subjected to dry sliding wear test using pin-on-disk apparatus under 60 N normal load with sliding velocity of 4.5 m/s at room conditions (∼28 °C and ∼60% relative humidity). The experimental results showed that the wear resistance of the developed composite can be optimized using a proper flight distance. In order to model the correlation between the wear properties and applied load, flight distance and sliding velocity of the metal matrix composites, a neural network model with genetic algorithm was developed. Second, the spray forming parameters such as flight distance, gas pressure, melt temperature and ZrO2 reinforcements were examined experimentally and analyse the insight on mechanical properties. Central composite design (CCD) with response surface methodology (RSM) was employed for selecting experimental matrix and latter perform detailed analysis. ZrO2 reinforcements and gas pressure showed major contribution, whereas negligible contributions with melt temperature and flight distance on hardness and UTS. The developed non-linear models for both responses showed similar effects and confirmed their relationship appears linear with good correlation coefficient equal to 0.978. The non-linear models derived empirical equations ensures accurate prediction with ten experimental cases equal to 1.21% for hardness and 6.09% for UTS, respectively. Multiple objective particle swarm optimization based crowding distance (MOPSO-CD) method integrated with desirability function approach (DFA) to determine the optimal spray forming conditions for achieving maximum hardness and UTS. The weights (0.05 for hardness and 0.95 for UTS) which ensures highest desirability value equal to 0.9958, and corresponding optimal spray forming conditions (melt temperature: 798 °C, flight distance: 0.35 m, gas pressure: 0.97 MPa and ZrO2 reinforcements: 11.6%) resulted in highest hardness of 80.4 HV and UTS of 173.2 MPa, respectively.

A literature survey on effect of various types of reinforcement particles on the mechanical and tribological properties of aluminium alloy matrix hybrid nano composite

This review paper deals with the individual and hybrid nano composites reinforced with different types of nano particles like, synthetic ceramic, agro-waste and industrial waste materials. A current demand in market is shifting from micro size to nano size particle reinforcement for hybrid nano composites and subsequently development in addition of synthetic ceramic particles incorporated with agro-industrial waste materials. The production of metal matrix composites reinforced with nano-particles attribute in varying the mechanical and physical properties than the base matrix. Hybrid nano composites are creditable choice that can overcome the drawbacks of monolithic and hybrid micro-composites. The reinforcement of nano-particles can enhance the properties of base matrix material in the form of corrosion resistance, wear resistance, mechanical strength and damping properties. This review look up the possibility of developing elite nano composites parts with several benefits such as light weight, low cost, sustainability, high strength to weight ratio and product variety for use in various structural application including aerospace, marine automobile, sports industries. Present review focus on the improvement in corrosion resistance, mechanical properties (like: hardness, tensile and compressive strength) wear resistance and fatigue properties of metal matrix hybrid nano composites [MMHnCs]. This study also discusses the influence of morphology of particles such as shape, size and volume fraction of reinforcement particles on the properties of [MMHnCs]. The important techniques of manufacturing of MMHnCs to improve the mechanical properties have been reviewed in detail.

Salt spray corrosion study on aluminium metal matrix composites (AMMCs) prepared by powder metallurgy route

Metal Matrix Composites (MMCs) production is one of the major role in the industries, the Powder Metallurgy method is suitable for production of MMCs at correct proportional rate. Aim of this experimental work is prepare the Aluminium Metal Matrix Composites (AMMCs) by powder metallurgy route. Aluminium alloy AA7085 is selected for this experimental work due to their extreme mechanical properties. Strengthening of this aluminium alloy is carried out by addition of Titanium Diboride (TiB2) with different weight percentage. AMMCs are prepared through powder metallurgy route and the process parameters of the P/M are optimized with the aid of Taguchi approach. Parameters are selected for this experimental work is milling time (3 hrs, 4 hrs and 5 hrs), compaction pressure (200 MPa, 250 MPa and 300 MPa) and sintering temperature (550 °C, 600 °C and 650 °C). Minimum corrosion rate is obtained as 0.00092 mm/year, milling time is highly influenced in the corrosion rate analysis.
