Pemberdayaan Masyarakat Melalui Pelatihan Pengolahan Sampah Plastik Menggunakan Portable Garbage Reducer-Energy Producers (Po Grep) Di Gunungsari Kabupaten Lombok Barat

Target khusus yang ingin dicapai melalui kegiatan Program KKN-PPM ini adalah: (a) meminimalisir limbah plastik yang sulit terurai khususnya di Gunungsari Kabupaten Lombok Barat, (b) meningkatkan efisiensi biaya pengelolaan sampah, (c) melakukan perbaikan pada sistem teknologi pengolahan sampah melalui pengolahan sampah plastik menggunakan Portable Garbage Reducer-Energy Producers (Po GREP), (d) meningkatkan partisipasi masyarakat agar lebih bersemangat dalam melakukan pengolahan sampah plastik menggunakan Portable Garbage Reducer-Energy Producers (Po GREP), (e) membangun kemitraan dan kerjasama yang efektif antara Perguruan Tinggi, Pemerintah Daerah dan masyarakat di Gunungsari Kabupaten Lombok Barat. Kegiatan KKN-PPM ini dilaksanakan selama 3 bulan pada semester genap tahun akademik 2019/2020. Adapun metode kegiatan KKN-PPM ini adalah metode workshop dalam bentuk pelatihan dan pendampingan. Berdasarkan hasil pelatihan yang telah dilakukan didapatkan tingkat pemahaman dan keterampilan masyarakat di Desa Gunungsari terkait pengolahan sampah plastik menjadi BBM masih kurang sehingga perlu adanya pendampingan dalam pengolahan sampah plastik menjadi BBM melalui PoGREP.Community Empowerment through Training on Plastic Waste Management Using Portable Garbage Reducer-Energy Producers (Po Grep) in Gunungsari, West Lombok RegencyAbstractSpecific targets to be achieved through the KKN-PPM Program activities are: (a) minimizing plastic waste that is difficult to decompose, especially in Gunungsari, West Lombok Regency, (b) increasing the efficiency of waste management costs, (c) making improvements to the waste processing technology system through processing plastic waste using Portable Garbage Reducer-Energy Producers (Po GREP), (d) increasing community participation to be more enthusiastic in processing plastic waste using Portable Garbage Reducer-Energy Producers (Po GREP), (e) building effective partnerships and cooperation between Universities, Local Government and the community in Gunungsari, West Lombok Regency. This KKN-PPM activity was carried out for 3 months in the even semester of the 2019/2020 academic year. The KKN-PPM activity method is a workshop method in the form of training and mentoring. Based on the results of the training that has been carried out, it is found that the level of understanding and skills of the people in Gunungsari Village regarding processing plastic waste into fuel is still lacking so there is a need for assistance in processing plastic waste into BBM through PoGREP.

Sistem Pengelolaan Limbah Plastik di Kota Lhokseumawe - Provinsi Aceh

<p>The study aims to describe the plastic waste management from a processing perspective that has economic value added. Conversion of waste into an economic value, is one practice that can be a role of model, so that it can guide a certain region to do good and correct waste of management. The potential of Aceh’s plastic waste is relatively large, which must be considered by the regional government to be able to realize related to plastic waste processing ctivities by the processor, where the existence is a large potential to be used as an opportunity for recycle. The current practice is still a little and only processing the plastic waste to become plastic chips, and there is no plastic waste processing converted into processed plastic products. The existence of this processing can provide conomic Added value for its owners and provide benefits to local governments as well. Therefore, it is need the role of he Aceh government to bring up the spirit of entrepreneurship, especially in the management and processing of lastic waste. On the other hand, a spirit of togetherness is needed through coordination and cooperation between local governments and non-governmental institutions, activists and environmentalists to carry out the mandate of the law relating to environmental conservation including waste management activities that can be added to conomic value.</p>

PENGOLAHAN LIMBAH PLASTIK MENJADI PRODUK KREATIF SEBAGAI PENINGKATAN EKONOMI MASYARAKAT PESISIR

ncreasing garbage in Langsa City especially in Gampong Kuala Langsa will become a serious problem if not solved. On the one hand, the invention of this plastic has a tremendous positive effect, because plastic has advantages over other materials. Based on these analyzes, the community service activities need to be done with the aim of improving the economy of Langsa City, especially coastal communities. Based on the results of further evaluation also recorded, some of the practical benefits gained by mothers in the village of Kuala Langsa, that is they get clear and whole information about the essence of community empowerment in terms of knowledge and skills. Meaningful for created of new jobs that are innovative from development of home industry, mothers who participated in the training obtained a clear picture of the business climate development step by using waste of coffee wrap, trainees also get a clear and whole picture about the benefits of waste if managed properly. The next stage plan is Assistance to the processing of plastic waste into a product so as to obtain quality standard both quality and quantity of quality and product quality and evaluation program to see how far the program is beneficial for mothers in the village of Kuala Langsa.Keywords: Creative Product, Kuala Langsa, Plastic Waste.

Metode PAR Sebagai Indikator Peningkatan Peran Masyarakat Terhadap Pengelolaan Limbah Plastik Dusun Paten Tridadi Sleman Yogyakarta

Abstract The problem that develops today is rubbish management and is a serious indicator for potential environmental pollution, especially waste of household waste. The PAR approach leads people to take transformative actions that change the social conditions of better society. This dedication program can fulfill the external target of integrated plastic waste processing system, by increasing community participation through assistance, as well as intensive giving or sosialisation, the creation of plastic waste processing technology in the form of distillation, variety of the product are accessories and other handicraft products, ergonomic system, managerial system by utilizing garbage bank as waste processing place. IbM Pengolahan Sampah Plastik Dalam Rangka Pemberdayaan Masyarakat Kelurahan Muktiharjo Kidul Semarang

Community service activities of science and technology program for Plastic Waste Processing Society isimplemented as a form of concern for environmental sustainability. Given the plastic waste is waste that takes time todecompose 50-100 years. On the other hand the potential of plastic waste in Pedurungan Sub-district of Semarang is verylarge. If plastic waste can be processed and managed optimally it will greatly reduce the amount of plastic waste in thearea, besides also can increase people's income. This activity was held in Muktiharjo Kidul Village, PedurunganSubdistrict, Semarang. Participants of 30 people who are members of KSM Mandiri Santoso Jaya and KSM Tri AsihJaya. Implementation in the form of (1) Socialization of Ibm's program of activity; (2) Manufacture of plastic garbagedisposal machines; (3) Training of the use of plastic counter machine; and (4) Assistance for consultation. The methodsused from socialization to mentoring are lectures, frequently asked questions, and practices. IbM activities are getting agood response marked by the antuasiasme of the participants in following every stage of the activity. The result of thisdedication activity is the reduction of plastic waste amount by recycle effort, increasing the family income throughincreasing the economic value of plastic waste, increasing the quality of activity in the garbage bank

Schematic Design Process in Block Plan Building Industrial Block in Gianyar-Bali

Plastic waste is now a common thing happening in the community so that it becomes a major problem in environmental pollution. The growing population and changing lifestyle of society led to the ever increase volume of plastic waste are generated every day. Please note that the plastic waste is inorganic waste that can not be broken down by bacteria, even if dumped in any place, the plastic waste takes long times until the plastic waste is destroyed by itself because of the influence of air temperature or climate. It is not good if the processing of plastic waste is done by way of burnt be-cause it may cause air pollution which is harmful to living beings and the environment. Therefore, it would be nice if the plastic waste can be reuse through the processing of ore into plastic or made into new products in the form of a craft that is more usable and valuable. Processing of plastic waste that is done well can aid in the reduction of the number of plastic waste, so it is needed a design of Industrial plastic waste as the place of processing plastic waste. As for the de-sign of this facility beginning with the stages of the design process as the initial schematic in deciding the block plan of the building. Schematic design can be use as a reference in the design process because it includes design ideas.

OVEN DESTILATOR PENGOLAH SAMPAH PLASTIK RAMAH LINGKUNGAN “Pemanfaatan Asap Cair Hasil Olahan Oven Destilator untuk Pengawetan Kayu

Up to now, the majority of people treat plastic waste by burning and disposing it directly to the surrounding environment. The burning of the waste causes air pollution due to toxic compound called dioxin which is harmful for human health. Meanwhile, the dumping of plastic waste into water bodies can causing some negative effects such as the clogging of water duct or river which may lead to flooding. Annually, the number of plastic bag used can reach 500 million – 1 billion, which is equal to 10 fold wrapping of earth surface (Nitizen, 2008). The best handling of plastic waste are using reuse or recycle methods which are environmentally friendly and at the same time can gain economical value1). The study is aimed to: 1) understand the capability of oven distillator in processing plastic waste into plastic grain and liquid smoke, 2) understand the influence of liquid smoke towards wood durability, 3) understand the price of the oven distillator and the corresponding break even point (BEP).The study was an experimental one and employed pre test and post test with control group design, and simultaneously assessing equipment’s production capacity. The data was analyzed descriptively and analytically with Anova test and t-test at 95% level of significance.The results show that oven distillator capable for processing 97,3% of plastic waste into plastic grain, while the rest was converted into liquid smoke. The liquid smoke was proved affect wood preservation (anova test, p<0.001), and have similar quality compared with varnish use (t-test, p=0,764). The cost analysis shows that the distillatory raise economical value of the waste by 217,66%, and The BEP would be reached in 68 days if 12 kg plastic is processed daily. It is advised that he oven can be used by general community or home industries for applying green and high economically value of plastic waste processing.

Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) and heavy metals in road dusts from a plastic waste recycling area in north China: implications for human health.

Road dusts were collected from an area where intense mechanical recycling of plastic wastes occurs in Wen'an, north China. These dusts were investigated for polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) and heavy metals contamination to assess the health risk related to these components. Decabromodiphenyl ether (BDE-209) and Σ21PBDE concentrations in these dusts ranged from 2.67 to 10,424 ng g(-1) and from 3.23 to 10,640 ng g(-1), respectively. These PBDE concentrations were comparable to those observed in road dust from e-waste recycling areas but were 1-2 orders of magnitude higher than concentrations in outdoor or road dusts from other areas. This indicates that road dusts in the study area have high levels of PBDE pollution. BDE-209 was the predominant congener, accounting for 86.3% of the total PBDE content in dusts. Thus, commercial deca-BDE products were the dominant source. The average concentrations of As, Cd, Cr, Cu, Hg, Pb, Sb, and Zn in these same dust samples were 10.1, 0.495, 112, 54.7, 0.150, 71.8, 10.6, and 186 mg kg(-1), respectively. The geoaccumulation index suggests that road dusts in this area are moderately to heavily polluted with Cd, Hg, and Sb. This study shows that plastic waste processing is a major source of toxic pollutants in road dusts in this area. Although the health risk from exposure to dust PBDEs was low, levels of some heavy metals in this dust exceeded acceptable risk levels for children and are of great concern.

Processing plastic waste in East Lombok mostly just collect plastic waste processing and then sent to the city in its original form. If the plastic waste is processed by applying plastic shredded units or chopper machine technology, the sale value of the plastic waste will be increased. This study describes to determine of feasibility technical and economic aspects to apply the plastic shredder units. The method used in this study is quantitative method in which the author will be a number of data collection is needed in relation to the issues to be examined, so that the research results can be trusted and relied upon the truth. The results of the study found that the engine performance in terms of the efficiency of each stage of the production process of shredded plastic. To purchase process stages, sorting, drying, packaging, and selling obtained an efficiency of 0.938, while the efficiency of the shredding process is 0.906. Furthermore, to obtain a production capacity of 1230.01 kg/day processing owners must buy raw materials 1588.34 kg/day by the number of machines required 2 units of 3 units of existing plastic shredder. So based on the feasibility analysis in terms of the value of BEP, obtained at 29092.03 kilogram production capacity, with a total cost of Rp 176,424,168.75, NPV Rp 113,545,038.34 (>0) and Net B/C ratio of 1.79 (>0) otherwise feasible. By optimizing the engine to 3 units obtained BEP value equal to the NPV Rp 385.139.485,25 (>0) and Net B/C ratio of 4.01 (>0). From the analysis of the value of shredded plastic BEP selling price is higher than the selling price of plastic intact from Rp 3,531/kg into Rp 6.064,35/kg.

Managing Marine Plastic Pollution: Policy Initiatives to Address Wayward Waste

A few times a year, volunteers fan out along the causeway that links the South Carolina mainland with the seashore community of Folly Beach to clean up plastic bottles, straws, bags, and other debris from along the road and the salt marsh. Some of this debris has come from cities miles away. On windy days, litter is often blown off city streets into waterways. During rainstorms, debris floats into drains that empty into rivers. Other trash probably came from places closer to home. “I see bags and other plastic flying off the beds of pickup trucks going down the causeway,” says Marty Morganello, who organizes the cleanups for the Charleston-area chapter of the nonprofit Surfrider Foundation. “I see them coming out the open windows of cars and out the backs of garbage trucks and even recycling trucks. This material is lightweight, and if you don’t secure it, it will fly away.” By one estimate, the volume of plastic debris going into the world’s oceans could more than double by 2025, assuming current trends in coastal development and plastics use. Some countries have begun identifying ways to improve management of plastic ... Beach cleanups yield enormous amounts of trash, with plastic items a major constituent.1 Although the human health impacts of this marine plastic pollution remain poorly characterized, it is widely seen as an emerging problem that deserves much more research attention.2 Likewise, there is a growing urgency among industry, government, nongovernmental organizations, and environmental groups to develop tools and policies to track, capture, and recycle plastic waste before it reaches the ocean.

Plasma-chemical reactor for production of hydrogen from polymer waste

This article is the third part of the work devoted to plasma chemical processing of plastic waste (and other toxic organic compounds) into hydrogen and other liquid products. The obtained results are crucial to solving global environmental and energy challenges of our time. The article presents a brief overview of the experimental and theoretical works devoted to the study and application of various types of plasma chemical technologies. On the base of the overview, the authors selected the most efficient plasma chemical reactor for recycling of plastic waste into hydrogen and other available hydrocarbon production.

Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers in Soils, Sediments, and Human Hair in a Plastic Waste Recycling Area: A Neglected Heavily Polluted Area

The release of pollutants during the recycling of contaminated plastics is a problem which has drawn worldwide attention; however, little information on the transfer of polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) in these processes is available. We conducted a survey of PBDEs in soils, sediments, and human hair in a typical plastic waste recycling area in northern China. The total concentrations (ng/g) of 21 PBDEs were 1.25-5504 (average 600), 18.2-9889 (average 1619), and 1.50-861 (average 112) in soils, sediments, and hair, respectively. The PBDE concentrations were comparable to concentrations observed in e-waste recycling areas; however, the concentrations in soils and sediments were 1-3 orders of magnitude higher than in other areas, and the concentrations in hair were much higher than in other areas. This indicates that this area is highly polluted with PBDEs. BDE-209 was the dominant congener (representing 91.23%, 92.3%, and 91.5% of the total PBDEs observed in soils, sediments, and hair, respectively), indicating that the commercial deca-BDE product was dominant. The commercial penta- and octa-BDE products made small contributions to the total PBDE concentrations, unlike what has been found in some e-waste recycling areas. Our results show that crude plastic waste processing is a major contributor of PBDEs to the environment and humans, which should be of great concern.

Plasma-chemical technology - the basis of hydrogen production from plastic waste

This article is the first part of the work devoted to plasma-chemical processing of plastic waste and other toxic organic compounds into hydrogen and other marketable products. It considers the choosing the most effective method of processing of plastic waste into hydrogen and other marketable products. The expediency of the application of plasma-chemical technologies, that meet the basic criteria of promising technologies, such as environmental and energy management, is shown.

Environmental and energy issues of the day

This article is the first part of the work devoted to plasma-chemical processing of plastic waste and other toxic organic compounds into hydrogen and other marketable products. The paper demonstrates the extent of global environmental and energy problems of today. Environmental problem is connected with environmental pollution by polymer waste. Energy problem is the use of fossil fuels for energy production and the concentration of power to ensure the effectiveness of the global power systems which do not guarantee sustainable energy development in the long term and doesn’t provide the energy security of the country. The second part is devoted to the selection of the most effective ways to address these global challenges of our time. The third part is devoted to a review of experimental and theoretical work on the study and application of various types of plasma-chemical technology. On its basis, the most effective scheme of the reactor for plasma-chemical processing of plastic waste into hydrogen and other marketable products was chosen.

Development of an internet-based collaboration platform and application to household waste plastic processing

Object-based model integration using the internet combines aspects of modularisation and network technology approaches to address large-scale, complex, multi-disciplinary system problems. As a prototype application of this approach to holistic system analysis of environmental sustainability issues, we are developing a decision support system that uses an object-based modeling framework for examining the various trade offs between costs, pollution emissions, resource consumption, and land fill use for different recycling and disposal options. The framework is applied to household plastic waste processing. The overall system of plastic waste processing is divided into three stages: generation of waste plastic from households, collection using different kinds of garbage collection vehicles and plant processing for recycling or disposal. The framework is used to examine several scenarios for different combinations of waste plastic recycling and disposal technologies in Tokyo, Japan. Plans are outlined for implementing the framework using network modelling technologies so that the trade off modelling system can be accessed over the internet by stakeholders and decision makers.

A system tradeoff model for processing options for household plastic waste

With the "Containers and Packaging Recycling Law", Japan has shown a firm conviction towards the promotion of recycling. Waste can be "recycled", i.e. resource value of waste material can be recovered, in many ways, from material recycling to energy recycling. Alternatively, waste can be reduced or disposed of in landfills. A system tradeoff model is developed from component process technology models of six different recycling and disposal options for household plastic waste processing: plastic pellet production, refuse derived fuel production, oil production, waste incineration to produce electricity, use of waste plastic as a coke substitute, and incineration for volume reduction. These technologies are compared with the case where all waste plastic is land filled. Models based on plant data, laboratory experiments, and theoretical considerations of scale effects and mass balances are developed to calculate the cost, energy consumption, CO2 emission, and land fill occupancy. The models also calculate the valued products of each technology and convert them into cost, energy, CO2, and landfill occupancy using life cycle inventory data. These values are subtracted from the outputs of the waste processing models to obtain overall performances for each technology. The overall tradeoff system model is then used to evaluate several scenarios of plastic recycling and disposal technologies in Tokyo.

Recycling of plastics has been attracting much attention in Japan and also in foreign countries. Recycling system is not easily introduced mainly due to its expensive cost. Economic evaluation of recycling, however, has not been fully investigated in Japan. In this study, fractionation, collection and processing of plastic waste in the residential and commercial sectors are taken into account. Especially the plasticswaste collection has been modeled quantitatively by using the regional mesh statistics and the reports on office survey provided by the Japanese government. Various kinds of plastics-recycling processes are evaluated from the viewpoint of both of life-cycle energy and economics. The evaluation results can be summarized as follows:The PET reclamation has good performance of energy saving. However, it takes a lot of cost for collection, and this technology is not economically acceptable even if the recycled resin has the same value as the virgin one. Some simulations show that cost reduction is possible by decreasing the labor hour for plastics collection. Furthermore, some measures for voluntary collection of PET containers are most effective if the government thinks the plastics recycling is preferable from the viewpoint of the local and global environment.

It's In the Bag: Submarine Plastic Waste Management

AbstractThe National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 1994 prohibits the discharge of plastic waste from U.S. Navy submarines after December 31, 2008. This will require the Navy submarine community to develop an effective method for handling and storing plastic waste aboard for eventual return to port. Paramount objectives include volume reduction, sanitary packaging of the waste, and locating suitable storage spaces on each submarine class. Carderock Division of the Naval Surface Warfare Center conducted a review of all potential plastic waste processing options. The submarine trash compactor unit and Navy odor barrier bags were selected for detailed investigation. A process was developed whereby plastic waste was compacted directly into high strength odor barrier bags called submarine plastic waste containment bags. Potential storage locations for compacted plastic waste have been identified aboard the Los Angeles (SSN 688), Ohio (SSBN 726), and Seawolf (SSN 21) classes. Plastic Waste Management Demonstrations will be conducted on each submarine class to evaluate the suitability and effectiveness of the proposed plastic waste management solutions.
