A Bibliometric Analysis on Visualising and Mapping Green Supply Chain Management

The emergent field of green supply chain management (GSCM) has recently piqued the interest of both academics and practitioners, owing to its crucial role in integrating sustainable environmental processes into the traditional supply chain. An essential research goal is to understand the overall structure of research and what has been completed in the area so far to build a strong research program to address forthcoming GSCM problems. The purpose of conducting a bibliometric analysis of GSCM in its current state is to gain insights into the existing body of knowledge, identify trends, and understand the research landscape. Several literature reviews concentrating on certain elements of GSCM have been published from 2002 to 2021 (data update time is April 10, 2021). Thus, this study used a bibliometric method to examine the present level of research on the GSCM. The Scopus database, one of the world-leading publishers-independent global citation databases, was used to search for documents related to GSCM. A bibliometric tool called Bibliometrix was executed to examine the data collected from the search, which generated 717 documents. This software was used to build maps based on scientific publication network data, revealing relationships between researchers, countries, and journals. This comprehensive mapping of the field serves to graphically depict the evolution of publications over time as well as identify current research interests. Finally, the findings of the bibliometric analysis point out a growing trend in green supply chain studies around the world, indicating that people are becoming more conscious of the need for environmental management and protection, and sustainable development.

How Perceived Child-Friendly Communities Alleviate Adolescents' Psychological Reactance.

When children enter adolescence, their personality traits easily give rise to psychological reactance (PR). PR involves a desire for autonomy and independence, as well as an aversion to parental and social rules and restrictions. Factors that influence PR include physiological, familial, and social aspects. However, most studies on adolescent noncompliance have primarily focused on rebellious behavior. Little research has examined motivational state reactance, although its interaction with environmental perception can significantly affect adolescents' lives. This study aimed to explore the relationship between the perceived friendliness of the community environment and cognitive processing at different quality of life (QoL) levels in relation to PR among adolescents. Propensity score matching was performed on a sample of 3546 adolescents, collected in Sanya, China. The results show that child-friendly communities (CFCs) had a significantly negative impact on adolescents' PR levels. Additionally, QoL had a moderating effect, meaning that the higher the QoL, the stronger the role of a CFC in alleviating PR. In contrast to claims that PR is determined by temperament or character profiles, this study reveals the importance of environmental shaping through triadic reciprocal determinism and a focus on the key role of the community environment.

Exploring the Moderating Effect of Musculoskeletal Pain on Technostress-Induced Burnout: A Cross-Sectional Study of Bank Employees.

Information and Communications Technology (ICT) advancements and high customer expectations are boosting the use of digital transformation and tech tools in business processes in a competitive environment. This trend enhances business effectiveness and efficiency but also introduces technostress as a new workplace stress factor. Technostress, defined as stress induced by using ICT in the workplace, has become increasingly prevalent in modern work environments, especially in sectors such as banking, due to digital transformation. As technology use intensifies, it raises concerns about potential adverse psychological and physiological effects on employees, particularly in relation to burnout. From a physiological perspective, musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) are quite common among employees who use ICT for extended periods. MSDs can play a significant moderating role in the relationship between technostress and burnout. In this context, this study aimed to examine the moderating role of MSDs in the effect of technostress on burnout. This quantitative study surveyed a convenience sample of 220 bank employees, drawing on COR theory, the JD-R model, the P-E fit approach, and transactional stress theory. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling with SmartPLS 4.0 software, enabling examination of relationships between variables derived from these frameworks. The results reveal that technostress increases bank employees' burnout experience. Additionally, bank employees with MSDs experience higher burnout levels than those without MSDs. The study's findings provide valuable insights into managing workplace stress, addressing mental health problems, and promoting employee well-being in the digital age. These results have potential implications for academic understanding and practical applications in sustainable management.

Carbon isotopic record of a platform-to-basin transect through the Permian Reef Complex (Guadalupian) in the Delaware Basin of Texas and New Mexico

The Guadalupian Permian Reef Complex of the Delaware Basin is one of the most studied carbonate reef systems of the Paleozoic. Despite extensive work on the carbonate sedimentology, sequence stratigraphy, and diagenetic history of the Delaware Basin, a high-resolution carbonate carbon isotope record along a platform to basin transect for the Capitanian (264.3–259.5 Ma, the youngest age of the Guadalupian Epoch) does not yet exist. The carbon isotopic record of the Delaware Basin is important because 1) it allows us to test hypotheses about controls on the carbon isotope proxy, 2) it provides constraints on how well modern carbonate platforms like the Great Bahama Banks serve as analogues for ancient carbonate settings, and 3) these types of restricted basins likely played an important role in Permian carbon cycling and the Capitanian extinctions.In this study we present 493 new Capitanian carbonate carbon isotopic values paired with a detailed sedimentological and sequence stratigraphic framework from the platform, slope, toe of slope, and deep basin of the Delaware Basin. The bulk of the new δ13C values fall within the range of previously reported unaltered carbonates from the basin, suggesting that these results record primary environmental processes and were not significantly altered by diagenetic overprinting. With this dataset, we test hypotheses about sources of carbon isotopic variability in shallow carbonate platforms. Our results indicate that in the Delaware Basin there are no systematic and resolvable depth or lateral gradients in carbon isotopic values, that δ13C values do not vary as a function of grain type, and that there is no resolvable relationship between carbon isotopic composition and sea level change. However, we do document statistically significant differences in δ13C distributions among facies associations which we attribute to the isotopic evolution of an upwelling water mass due to direct precipitation of mud along the slope. Our results support the idea that increasing carbon isotopic values through the Capitanian were driven by increased organic carbon burial in restricted basins.

Development and Upscaling of a Waterborne Formulation for High‐Energy Density NMC811 Cathodes

AbstractThe pursuit of high‐energy lithium‐ion cells has led to an increase in the fraction of nickel in the LiNixMnyCozO2 (NMC, with x+y+z=1) layered oxide, a state‐of‐the‐art cathode material in electric vehicles. NMC is usually processed using organic solvents that are non‐sustainable. Nevertheless, increasing the Ni fraction entails a decrease in the electrode stability and the processability of this material in water. In this work, high‐nickel NMC materials have been subjected to water processing. In an initial stage, water sensitivity of the materials has been studied. Then, the formulation has been adapted to enhance the NMC fraction without penalizations in the electrochemical performance and compared to an organic solvent‐based formulation. The recipe developed, consisting of 93 % of NMC, has been successfully upscaled to a semi‐industrial coating line. The pH buffering has been observed as a critical step to mitigate lithium leaching and implement this process in an industrial environment. The obtained electrodes have been tested in single‐layer pouch cells using silicon‐based negative electrodes, also processable in water‐based slurries. The resulting cells provide limited cycling life due to the low cyclability of the negative electrode but evidence that it is industrially viable to manufacture high‐energy cells consisting only of water‐processed electrodes.

Highly Water‐Dispersible Spiropyran‐Octapeptide Supramolecules: Efficient, Multi‐processable, and Versatile Photoswitches for Time‐Dependent Dual‐Mode Encryption

AbstractWith exceptional photochromic and photoluminescent properties, spiropyrans have demonstrated significant potential for advanced information encryption and anti‐counterfeiting applications. However, its inherent water insolubility leads to incompatibility with aqueous polymers, and even more, its ease of leaching from the matrix hinders the formation of stable stimuli‐responsive platforms through direct blending with all polymers. Here, the fabrication of amphiphilic spiropyran‐octapeptide molecules is reported that can spontaneously self‐assemble into highly water‐dispersible supramolecular nanofibers in water. These assemblies exhibit universal polymer matrix compatibility while retaining the rapid photo‐responsiveness of spiropyrans. The formation of strong interactions between the supramolecular assembly and polymer chains ensures the long‐term stability of the resultant stimuli‐responsive materials in aqueous environments. These platforms fully preserve the base polymers’ processing properties, with silk fibroin as the matrix offering exceptional opportunities for constructing photo‐responsive platforms in various forms (e.g., films, gels, fibers, and coatings) with multiple functionalities using diverse solution processing techniques. Integrating distinct photochromic and photoluminescent responses within a single format without interference, combined with environmental stability and processing flexibility, enables the creation of dual‐mode, high‐security encryption devices for diverse application scenarios. The outlined strategy provides innovative concepts for developing high‐performance, versatile intelligent systems utilizing stimulus‐responsive molecules.

Hydrophobic surface texture air-liquid phase composite assisted laser processing and tribological properties

In order to improve the surface hydrophobicity and tribological properties of 304 stainless steel, this study used laser processing technology to prepare three types of surface textures (CSA, CM2, CM5) in an air and air–liquid composite environment. By testing the surface quality, wettability and tribological properties of the texture, it was found that the surface quality and interfacial friction control ability of CSA were poor due to the influence of the processing environment. However, due to the air–liquid composite assisted laser preparation, while using the air medium laser processing technology to ensure the texture depth, the scattering effect of bubbles and the influence of negative pressure on the solid–liquid interface during the liquid phase assisted laser processing remove the oxide recast layer and burr on the surface of the sample, and improve the surface quality of the texture, thereby improving the surface friction behavior of the sample. This study promotes the development of surface texture laser processing technology and broadens the application field of 304 stainless steel.

In-depth characterization of food and environmental microbiomes across different meat processing plants

BackgroundProcessing environments can be an important source of pathogenic and spoilage microorganisms that cross contaminate meat and meat products. The aim of this study was to characterize the microbiome of raw materials, processing environments and end products from 19 facilities producing different meat products.ResultsThe taxonomic profiles of the microbial communities evolved along processing, from raw materials to end products, suggesting that food contact (FC) surfaces play an important role in modulating the microbiome of final products. Some species persisted with the highest relative abundance in raw materials, food processing environments and/or in the final product, including species from the genera Pseudomonas, Staphylococcus, Brochothrix, Acinetobacter and Psychrobacter. Processing environments showed a very diverse core microbiota, partially shared with the products. Pseudomonas fragi and Pseudomonas sp. Lz4W (in all sample and facility types) and Brochothrix thermosphacta, Psychrobacter sp. and Psychrobacter sp. P11F6 (in raw materials, FC surfaces and end products) were prominent members of the core microbiota for all facilities, while Latilactobacillus sakei was found as a dominant species exclusively in end products from the facilities producing fermented sausages. Processing environments showed a higher amount of antimicrobial resistance genes and virulence factors than raw materials and end products. One thousand four hundred twenty-one medium/high-quality metagenome-assembled genomes (MAGs) were reconstructed. Of these, 274 high-quality MAGs (completeness > 90%) corresponded to 210 putative new species, mostly found in processing environments. For two relevant taxa in meat curing and fermentation processes (S. equorum and L. sakei, respectively), phylogenetic variation was observed associated with the specific processing facility under study, which suggests that specific strains of these taxa may be selected in different meat processing plants, likely contributing to the peculiar sensorial traits of the end products produced in them.ConclusionsOverall, our findings provide the most detailed metagenomics-based perspective up to now of the microbes that thrive in meat, meat products and associated environments and open avenues for future research activities to better understand the microbiome functionality and potential contribution to meat quality and safety.BW5-yJYgBWXLb4-yN7W47nVideo

Discovery of key volatile compound and regulatory gene governing the ‘taro-like’ aroma in wax gourd (Benincasa hispida)

The distinctive ‘taro-like’ aroma in wax gourd has become a crucial flavor characteristic, significantly enhancing its market value. Despite its importance, the volatile compounds responsible for this aroma and their genetic regulatory mechanisms have not been sufficiently studied. Utilizing headspace-gas chromatography-quadrupole time of flight-mass spectrometry (HS-GC-QTOF-MS), this research examined the volatile compounds in wax gourd germplasms with and without the ‘taro-like’ aroma, identifying 2-acetyl-1-pyrroline (2-AP) as the primary volatile responsible for this aroma. To uncover the genetic basis of this trait, segregating populations and recombinant inbred lines (RILs) were developed from MY-1 x GX-71 germplasms, which exhibit significant differences in aroma expression. Genetic analysis revealed that a single recessive gene governs the ‘taro-like’ aroma trait in wax gourd. Through bulked segregant analysis sequencing (BSA-seq) and quantitative trait loci (QTL) mapping, the candidate region for this aroma gene was localized to a 285.29 kb interval on Chromosome 2. Further examination of candidate gene expression and sequence variations highlighted the BhBADH gene's critical role in the formation of the ‘taro-like’ aroma. Additionally, RNA-seq analysis revealed significant enrichment of differentially expressed genes (DEGs) associated with metabolic pathways involved in environmental information processing, which contribute to 2-AP synthesis in wax gourd with a ‘taro-like’ aroma. Our research provides a theoretical foundation for the molecular breeding to enhance the aroma quality of wax gourd.

Enhanced performance of low-dielectric siloxane-polyimide copolymers: Synthesis and properties

Low-dielectric polyimides (PI) films with outstanding overall performance are attractive for next generation microelectronic applications. Herein, a series of two different FPIs and BPIs derived from 4,4′-diaminodiphenyl ether (ODA) and two different functional dianhydrides, 4,4'-(hexafluoroisopropylidene) biphthalic anhydride (6FDA) and 4,4′-(4,4′-isopropyldiphenoxy) biphthalic anhydride (BPADA), respectively, were synthesized by a conventional two-step methodology that included thermoimidatization. Additionally, employing aminopropyl-terminated polydimethylsiloxane PDMS (molecular weight = 1000) as the source of siloxane-oxygen bonds, a series of polyimide siloxane (SiFPIs and SiBPIs) copolymers were synthesized by varying the siloxane content (ranging from 0 to 5 wt%) within the copolymer structure. The effects of siloxane bond on the thermal, solubility, water resistance, dielectric and mechanical properties of polyimide were investigated systematically. The integration of siloxane significantly enhanced the solubility of these copolymers in polar aprotic solvents (DMAC, DMF, NMP), expanding their applicability in diverse processing environments. Crucially, these copolymers exhibited remarkably low dielectric constants—2.90 for SiFPI at 3% PDMS and 2.92 for SiBPI at 4% PDMS—coupled with low loss values, positioning them as prime candidates for advanced microelectronic applications. All the composite films have high thermal stability near pure PI. The introduction of PMDS into PI can improve the elongation at break and at the same time, the composite films still remained with higher modulus and tensile strength. Extensive hydrophobicity assessments through contact angle and water absorption studies underscored the copolymers’ superior moisture resistance, a critical parameter for their potential deployment in high-performance, environmentally sensitive electronic components.

Causal Learning: Monitoring Business Processes Based on Causal Structures.

Conventional methods for process monitoring often fail to capture the causal relationships that drive outcomes, making hard to distinguish causal anomalies from mere correlations in activity flows. Hence, there is a need for approaches that allow causal interpretation of atypical scenarios (anomalies), allowing to identify the influence of operational variables on these anomalies. This article introduces (CaProM), an innovative technique based on causality techniques, applied during the planning phase in business process environments. The technique combines two causal perspectives: anomaly attribution and distribution change attribution. It has three stages: (1) process events are collected and recorded, identifying flow instances; (2) causal learning of process activities, building a directed acyclic graphs (DAGs) represent dependencies among variables; and (3) use of DAGs to monitor the process, detecting anomalies and critical nodes. The technique was validated with a industry dataset from the banking sector, comprising 562 activity flow plans. The study monitored causal structures during the planning and execution stages, and allowed to identify the main factor behind a major deviation from planned values. This work contributes to business process monitoring by introducing a causal approach that enhances both the interpretability and explainability of anomalies. The technique allows to understand which specific variables have caused an atypical scenario, providing a clear view of the causal relationships within processes and ensuring greater accuracy in decision-making. This causal analysis employs cross-sectional data, avoiding the need to average multiple time instances and reducing potential biases, and unlike time series methods, it preserves the relationships among variables.

Determination of Settling Velocity for Cohesive Sediments Using a Settling Column Experiment—Case Study: Ca Mau, Vietnam

The settling velocity (Ws) is a fundamental parameter in sediment dynamics, particularly in the coastal zones as estuarine and mangrove ecosystems, where various physical processes interact to influence sediment transport and deposition. Determining settling velocity is essential for understanding and predicting sediment transport, erosion–deposition processes in coastal environments. This study aims to determine the settling velocity and examines how sediment concentration affects settling velocity, using empirical models. The study applies these methods to compute the settling velocity of fine sediments in Ca Mau, Vietnam, which were collected in the Song Doc area (Western) in August 2014 and Rach Goc area (Eastern) in August 2015. The particle size analysis results indicate that the sediment samples from Western Ca Mau are coarser than those from Eastern Ca Mau, with sand ratios of 42.78% and 7.08% at the outer station, and 19.09% and 4.39% at the mangroves, respectively. The results also show that the average settling velocity of the sediment samples from Western Ca Mau is higher than that of the samples from Eastern Ca Mau. Specifically, the settling velocity in Western Ca Mau is 2.80 × 10−4 m s–1 at the outer station and 1.68 × 10−4 m s–1 at the mangroves. Meanwhile, in Eastern Ca Mau, the settling velocity of the sediment samples is 1.99 × 10−4 m s–1 at the outer station and 1.42 × 10−4 m s–1 at the mudflat-mangrove. Hence, it can be seen that the settling velocity of cohesive sediments corresponds well with the sediment’s particle size.

Spatial Anaysis and Modelling to Mappping Priorities Areas for Restauration: Study Case: Natural Protected Area Montes Azules, Chiapas, Mexico

Natural Protected Areas play a fundamental role in the conservation of biodiversity and ecosystems throughout the world and are designated and managed with the purpose of preserving biological and cultural capital, ensuring the sustainable use of natural resources, and maintaining ecosystem services. The Montes Azules Biosphere Reserve, like other Natural Protected in Mexico, faces significant challenges such as deforestation, illegal logging, and loss of vegetation cover, as well as socio-environmental conflicts, factors that hinder the biological and cultural conservation of the area. Likewise, despite their importance, many Natural Protected face significant challenges in terms of effective monitoring and planning. The lack of adequate monitoring and planning strategies, as well as staff and budget, makes it difficult to assess the conservation status of these areas and to implement appropriate management measures. Therefore, creating specific monitoring tools is essential to periodically evaluate their conservation status and identify threats and pressures on ecosystems in order to design adaptive and effective management strategies. The objective of this study is to offer a first methodological approach to identify priority areas for restoration within the Montes Azules Biosphere Reserve, which will allow decision-makers to design and apply conservation strategies in the area. The determination of the priority areas for restoration was based on an environmental management process, where the Land suitability is the base for the territorial arrangement, which was modeled together with the current land use and land cover through rules of decision and having the natural protected area as a frame. For land suitability, the land classification system was used according to its use capacity or American system of the 8 classes developed by the Soil Conservation Service of the United States; for mapping land use land cover, an object base classification method was used. The total transformed area in 2023 occupies an extension of 39,475.38 ha, approximately 50% of this lands corresponds to sloping and very steep land and in some cases with shallow to very shallow soils, not suitable for agriculture. The area identified as priority zones for restoration corresponds to an extension of 19,514.5 ha, which represents nearly 50% of the transformed area, and 6% of the total of study area, from which 6,860.5 ha are top priority for restoration. As main conclusion can be said that the methodological proposal described here serves as a first approximation to identify priority zones for restoration in the Montes Azules Biosphere Reserve, allowing for a more detailed identification of these areas at the local level, which will allow decision-makers to design and apply conservation strategies in the area.

Listeriosis: Characteristics, Occurrence in Domestic Animals, Public Health Significance, Surveillance and Control.

Listeriosis is a dangerous zoonosis caused by bacteria of the genus Listeria, with Listeria monocytogenes (LM) being the most pathogenic species. Listeria monocytogenes has been detected in various animal species and in humans, and its ability to evolve from an environmental saprophyte to a powerful intracellular pathogen is driven by the invasion mechanisms and virulence factors that enable cell invasion, replication and cell-to-cell spread. Key regulatory systems, including positive regulatory factor A (PrfA) and the stress-responsive sigma factor σB, control the expression of virulence genes and facilitate invasion of host cells. Listeriosis poses a significant threat to cattle, sheep and goat herds, leading to abortions, septicemia and meningoencephalitis, and ruminants are important reservoirs for Listeria, facilitating transmission to humans. Other Listeria species such as Listeria ivanovii and Listeria innocua can also cause disease in ruminants. Resilience of LM in food processing environments makes it an important foodborne pathogen that is frequently transmitted through contaminated meat and dairy products, with contamination often occurring along the food production chain. In humans, listeriosis primarily affects immunocompromised individuals, pregnant women and the elderly and leads to severe conditions, such as meningitis, septicemia and spontaneous abortion. Possible treatment requires antibiotics that penetrate the blood-brain barrier. Despite the relatively low antimicrobial resistance, multidrug-resistant LM strains have been detected in animals, food and the environment. Controlling and monitoring the disease at the herd level, along with adopting a One Health approach, are crucial to protect human and animal health and to minimize the potential negative impacts on the environment.

Comparative analyses of bacterial contamination and microbiome of broiler carcasses in wet market and industrial processing environments

The slaughtering environment is crucial for the food hygiene and safety of poultry products. Despite the global dominance of industrial processing, live bird slaughtering in wet markets persists due to cultural, religious, and economic reasons. This study aims to reveal the correlation between hygiene scales in wet markets and bacterial contamination levels on broiler carcasses, with a particular focus on pathobiont transmission risks and microbiome characteristics. Wet markets were categorized based on home-made ratings and the Hygiene and Biosecurity Assessment Tool (HABT). The study assessed total aerobic bacterial (TAB) levels, food spoilage and hygiene indicators (Pseudomonas and E. coli), foodborne pathogen Salmonella, and the microbiome of broiler carcasses, intestinal contents, and slaughtering facilities. Comparative analyses were conducted between market and industrial processing environments. TAB levels on broiler carcasses showed a significant negative correlation with hygiene scores, indicating that both HABT and home-made rating tools effectively assess and improve processing hygiene. Industrial processing consistently reduced bacterial contamination compared to wet markets. Although Salmonella spp. prevalence was lower in market-processed carcasses, the study identified significant cross-transmission of pathobionts and variations in bacterial composition with hygiene improvements. Notably, the microbiome analysis revealed overlaps in amplicon sequence variants (ASVs) between carcasses and contamination vectors, highlighting pathobiont transmission risks. The present study confirmed the scales of hygiene standards among wet markets reflect bacterial contamination on broiler carcasses. Enhancing slaughter practices to meet industrial hygiene standards is essential for reducing the transmission of foodborne pathogens and pathobionts, and improving food safety.

Structure-Stability Relation of Single-Atom Catalysts under Operating Conditions of CO2 Reduction.

Single-atom catalysts (SACs) have exhibited exceptional atomic efficiency and catalytic performance in various reactions but suffer poor stability. Understanding the structure-stability relation is the prerequisite for stability optimization but has been rarely explored due to complexity of the degradation process and reaction environments. Herein, we successfully established the structure-stability relation of N-doped carbon-supports SACs (MN4 SACs) under working conditions of CO2 reduction, by using advanced constant-potential density functional theory calculations. Systematic mechanism investigation that considered different factors identifies the key role of initial hydrogen adsorption on the coordination N atom in catalytic stability, where the feasibility of the adsorption eventually determines the leaching of the metal atom. On this basis, a simple descriptor consisting of electron number and electronegativity is constructed, realizing accurate and rapid prediction of the stability of SACs. Furthermore, strategies via modifying the local geometric structure to improve the stability without changing the active centers are proposed accordingly, which are supported by related experiments. These findings fill the current void in understanding SAC stability under practical working conditions, potentially advancing the widespread application of SACs in sustainable energy conversion systems.

A Modular Smart Ocean Observatory for Development of Sensors, Underwater Communication and Surveillance of Environmental Parameters

The rapid growth of marine industries has emphasized the focus on environmental impacts for all industries, as well as the influence of key environmental parameters on, for instance, offshore wind or aquaculture performance, animal welfare and structural integrity of different constructions. Development of automatized sensors together with efficient communication and information systems will enhance surveillance and monitoring of environmental processes and impact. We have developed a modular Smart Ocean observatory, in this case connected to a large-scale marine aquaculture research facility. The first sensor rigs have been operational since May 2022, transmitting environmental data in near real-time. Key components are Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (ADCPs) for measuring directional wave and current parameters, and CTDs for redundant measurement of depth, temperature, conductivity and oxygen. Communication is through 4G network or cable. However, a key purpose of the observatory is also to facilitate experiments with acoustic wireless underwater communication, which are ongoing. The aim is to expand the system(s) with demersal independent sensor nodes communicating through an “Internet of Underwater Things (IoUT)”, covering larger areas in the coastal zone, as well as open waters, of benefit to all ocean industries. The observatory also hosts experiments for sensor development, biofouling control and strategies for sensor self-validation and diagnostics. The close interactions between the experiments and the infrastructure development allow a holistic approach towards environmental monitoring across sectors and industries, plus to reduce the carbon footprint of ocean observation. This work is intended to lay a basis for sophisticated use of smart sensors with communication systems in long-term autonomous operation in remote as well as nearshore locations.
