Data reduction in fog computing and internet of things: A systematic literature survey

Cloud computing, the most crucial computing and storage tool in IoT (Internet of Things), still meets various challenges. The remoteness of IoT end devices from cloud platforms may lead to significant issues for real-time applications such as disaster handling, healthcare application, etc. In order to address these issues, fog computing is a new platform with specialized features that perform essential IoT data management and real-time application management tasks. Data management in IoT via fog computing is critical for decreasing latency in real-time IoT applications and is needed to produce more professional knowledge and smart decisions. Reduction in the size of data sent to the cloud layer is a fundamental topic in data management on the fog computing platform. In this paper, to select and survey studies about data size reduction in fog computing, we applied the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) process to comprehend and classify the different topics and related approaches in this field. In addition, the studies presented in the edge computing field, which were close to our goal, were also investigated. The primary purpose of this study is to classify and analyze the fog data reduction (FDR) studies published between 2016 and 2022. The topics and related approaches of selected papers are presented in an approach-based taxonomy. The topics of provided taxonomy include data filtering, data compression, data aggregation, data prediction, data pattern recognition, and general facets and related approaches. Finally, open issues for FDR and relevant main challenges are presented in upcoming research.

Lean Six Sigma in Healthcare: A Systematic Literature Review on Challenges, Organisational Readiness and Critical Success Factors

Lean Six Sigma (LSS) has been applied in many healthcare organisations, but there has been limited research on the evolution of LSS application in healthcare. This paper aims to present the challenges, critical success factors (CSFs), readiness factors and most common tools and techniques used for LSS deployment in healthcare. A systematic literature review (SLR) was utilised to research the study objectives. Peer-reviewed literature over a 16-year period was studied to understand the deliverables of LSS. The SLR process identified relevant articles and screened a final selection for those under study. The systematic literature review helped the authors to identify the challenges and tools/techniques used for LSS in healthcare. Several CSFs and readiness factors for LSS deployment in healthcare are also presented. This work informs healthcare managers and professionals on the important factors for successful LSS deployment before embarking on the LSS journey. In addition, this work is a valuable resource for healthcare LSS practitioners and academic researchers to learn about, investigate and deploy LSS in the healthcare sector. This study is one of the most comprehensive SLRs covering the importance and specificity of understanding challenges, CSFs and organisational readiness for LSS in healthcare. This study provides knowledge of the successful deployment of LSS in healthcare.

Authenticity: shedding light on the branding context

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to systematically review authenticity in the branding context and suggest avenues for future research.Design/methodology/approachThis study applies a systematic literature review process and analyzes a total of 171 articles published from 1988 to 2021 and three items that are books or book chapters.FindingsBrand authenticity has several definitions and dimensions. Although some common ground can be found among researchers, the study of authenticity is very fragmented. Even so, brand authenticity is often associated with a brand being genuine, real, true to itself and its consumers, and with consistent behavior, reflecting its values. A growing number of studies about the topic have been published, most of them empirical, applied in different industries and different geographical contexts. The authors also present several constructs associated with the topic (antecedents and consequences). Finally, this study shows paths for scholars to build on.Research limitations/implicationsThe main limitations are associated with the inherent subjectivity related to the inclusion and exclusion criteria defined to select articles for the analysis.Originality/valueThis systematic review maps the past, structures existing knowledge about authenticity in the branding context, and sheds light on what could be future research in this field.

Exploring Future Research Agenda for Rural Mother’s Empowerment: A Study at the Intersection of Bibliometric and Systematic Literature Review

Women’s empowerment of rural mothers is little understood. Through the sequential review approach of systematic literature review (SLR)–Bibliometric–SLR, the study explores and analyses the literature with regards to ‘women-empowerment’, ‘mother’ and ‘rural’. The aim is to identify the future research agendas in the said direction. The literature extracted through the initial SLR process of inclusion and exclusion criteria from the SCOPUS database has been analysed by VOSviewer software, resulting in eight clusters of the author keywords comprising 60 papers. Co-occurrence for the author’s keywords is used for bibliometric analysis. The eight clusters are further classified into three themes. In the next level of analysis, the author keywords with low link strength and co-occurrences are examined to establish future research agendas. Finally, SLR is used again to identify the journals with an impact factor of 3.0 or more, reducing the number of articles to 30. The process identifies journals for potential future publications. Unlike conventional bibliometric and SLR studies, a sequential combination of the two techniques has been used to explore the future scope of research. Most of the current literature focuses on maternal and children’s growth and health related to women empowerment in the rural geographies of the global south. However, various other phenomena in the context of sociocultural norms and socio-economic conditions of the diverse geographies are under-researched. We identify some under-researched areas for the research possibilities and the ‘good’ journals in which such articles may be published.

Systematic literature reviews: An opportunity for transformation

Life sciences industry is witnessing a paradigm shift of evidence-based approach from population to patient level. This shift is being supported by structured evidence generation methodologies like Systematic Literature Review (SLR), Real World Evidence (RWE), and others to support regulatory, clinical and policy level decision making. The amalgamation of SLR, with real world data and quantitative techniques like Meta-Analysis, Network Meta-Analysis represent highest level of evidence generation. However, the current state of generating SLR, involves manual and labor-intensive process with high dependency on developed countries. The various stakeholders worldwide viz: researchers and policy makers are demanding technology levers to optimize the end-to-end SLR process. As the future of evidence generation will be more complex, industry should invest in smart, intelligent, and connected technology and science-based ecosystem to disrupt and transform existing manual process. This article presents the SLR trends, challenges and potential transformation use case leveraging technology, global capability, and capacity harmonization.

Emerging Associates of the Circular Economy: Analysing Interactions and Trends by a Mixed Methods Systematic Review

Circular Economy (CE) frameworks augmented multi-dimensional research, including definitions, principles, indicators, history, limitations, enablers, and allied issues. Rethinking the designing strategies requires the exploration of CE associates and their functioning as companions for amplification through multiple suggestions, highlighting the interactions with the overall CE system towards sustainability. This paper focuses on how CE literature concentrates on premeditated areas and solution approaches. A lack of deterministic manifestations critically limits the interpretation and application of CE concepts. The paper contributes to the CE theoretical and practical understanding by for the first time outlining the CE associates, their connotation, progression, positioning in architecture, and their current state. These associates support individualization of a CE concept. The coherently applied methodology attempts to reduce the knowledge gap by following a systematic quantitative literature review process to screen 76 articles and 122 CE definitions, referencing one decade of literature. Application of comprehensive morphological mining facilitated the extraction of CE associates and later analysis. On application of Bibliometric Analysis, Text Analysis, Semantic Analysis, and Relation Mapping to the literature, 49 associates emerged. They were further validated by application of Content Analysis and Weighted Average Priority Ranking on extracted article content and definitions for deriving the most prominent associates. Subsequently, Association Rules Data Mining and K-Means Clustering were deployed in exploring the relations, ranking, and significance of CE associates. The findings consistently state that business actions (virtualize, exchange); sustainability pillars (society); and R strategies (refuse, refill, and repurpose) are unexplored CE associates, whereas Business, Economics, Environment, Measurement, Product, Industry, Resource, System, Waste, and Recycle are the most explored associates of the CE ecosystem.

A Systematic Literature Review of Work-Life Balance Using ADO Model

This study systematically synthesizes the existing literature on work-life balance (WLB) over the last 16 years to determine the various constructs associated with it using the Antecedents, Decisions and Outcomes (ADO) model for the WLB construct. It also identifies research gaps and proposes a direction for future research. A rigorous systematic literature review (SLR) process as proposed by Tranfield et al. (2003) is followed. Further, the study uses the PRISMA framework to select the 43 full-text articles relevant to the WLB in business management. The review was conducted for the studies from 2004 to 2020, used only published articles, and excluded books and conference proceedings. This review provides an organized view of the antecedents, decision processes and outcomes of WLB in the business management domain. The analysis provides information on the most prolific authors and journals. This review also found that the most productive institutions publishing WLB-related literature are based in India. This review contributes to the literature by proposing a conceptual model that provides a theoretical understanding of WLB. It also provides essential insights into how personal, household and organizational factors influence WLB.

A Holistic Overview of Studies to Improve Group-Based Assessments in Higher Education: A Systematic Literature Review

There is a soaring demand for work-ready graduates who can quickly adapt to an ever-challenging work environment. Group-based assessments have been widely recommended as a means to develop the skills required for the world of work. However, group-based assessments are perceived as challenging for both students and educators. This systematic literature review (SLR), based on the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA), focuses on analyzing and synthesizing the existing literature on group-based assessments. A four-step approach was undertaken in order to conduct this research. The SLR identified 71 relevant articles, analyzed using thematic analysis with the aid of NVivo software. An open coding approach was adopted to generate codes. The validity of the SLR process and the reliability of the research tool were maintained through the use of trustworthiness. The findings identified dominant themes such as self- and peer evaluations, training students for group work assessments, group formation, group size, and the role of academics and technology in facilitating group processes. The outcomes of this review contribute significantly to the design and administration of group-based assessments in higher education by providing academics with practical guidelines to effectively facilitate group-based assessments which fit the purpose.

Barriers and Drivers of University–Industry Collaborative Innovation Based on Stakeholder Theory

Collaboration between university and industry is becoming more broadly viewed to foster innovation through knowledge transfer. Influential elements, such as drivers and barriers, and stakeholders’ differing perspectives on University–Industry Collaborative Innovation (UICI) need to be explored during this process. Using the lens of stakeholder theory, this study proposes a multi-perspective framework for UICI. A systematic literature review process was used to develop the framework for multiple stakeholders’ viewpoints. Moreover, 84 papers on these topics were thoroughly evaluated and classified based on structural aspects and insightful categories. This paper develops the multi-perspective framework based on the UICI barriers and drivers, in which 17 barriers and 12 drivers are categorized and analyzed according to their implications. Consequently, the overall contribution of this study is based on stakeholder theory to understand the influencing factors in UICI from multiple perspectives including government, university, and industry, and how these factors facilitate or hinder its development. Furthermore, most obstacles encountered are viewed from a cross perspective of university and industry. On the driver’s side, the factors should be recognized so that cooperation parties can prepare for changes by investigating these influential positive factors. A comprehensive strategy for successfully promoting UICI is to consider influential factors from multiple viewpoints. Finally, we make some concluding remarks and discuss some emerging topics in this field that are fertile for further investigation.

This study aims to provide a systematic literature review on the factors that influence the Siskeudes application to improve the quality of village financial accountability and the performance of village officials. This study uses a qualitative approach to document research with a systematic literature review as a research data analysis tool. The systematic literature review process consists of three stages, namely planning, implementation, and reporting. The initial study found 460 articles, the study used 12 articles based on inclusion and exclusion criteria for further analysis. There is data extraction that can answer research questions. The results of a systematic literature review from journals from 2015 to 2021 stated that the factors influencing the Siskeudes application to improve the quality of village financial accountability and the performance of village officials were the data input process, application use, information technology infrastructure, human resources, budget and financial knowledge. village, village budget preparation, transparency, and financial reports. The main influencing factors are the process of inputting data and using applications where the village government must provide education and training on a regular basis, coordinate with assistants and trainers from the center, provide support and motivation for staff/employees in the learning process, provide adequate facilities and infrastructure. will be used to improve human resources.

The emotion of pride in consumer behaviour and marketing: a review, classification and future research agenda

PurposeThe study aims to synthesize the state of research on pride in consumer behaviour and marketing. Specifically, this study aims to understand the emergent themes of literature, the key theories, analytical techniques and methodologies used, as well as key variables associated with pride in consumer behaviour and marketing.Design/methodology/approachUsing a systematic literature review process, the study analyses 59 research articles and structures its findings by using the theory–context–characteristics–methodology framework.FindingsThe review proposes a taxonomical classification of the multiple conceptualizations of pride. It identifies that the phenomenon and regulation of pride is explained using theories from psychological self-related research. Pride has been experienced in sustainable, advertising, luxury and digital consumption contexts. Reviewed articles showed an over-reliance on the quantitative methodology and the experimental method. The review identifies that pride is associated with positive outcomes and has considerable influence on consumer behaviour. Building on this analysis, 12 research questions are developed to encourage future research.Originality/valueTo the best of the authors’ knowledge, this study is the first structured review on the emotion of pride in the domains of consumer behaviour and marketing.

Piloting personalization research through data-rich environments: a literature review and future research agenda

PurposeOver the last 50 years, increased attention for personalization paved the way for one-to-one marketing efforts, but firms struggle to deliver on this promise. The purpose of this manuscript is to provide a complete picture on personalization, develop a future research agenda and put forth concrete advice on how to move the field forward from a theoretical, methodological, contextual, and practical viewpoint.Design/methodology/approachThis research follows a systematic literature review process, providing an in-depth analysis of 135 articles (covering 184 studies) to distill the (1) key building blocks and components of personalization and (2) theoretical, contextual, and methodological aspects of the studies.FindingsThis manuscript uncovers six personalization components that can be linked to two personalization building blocks: (1) learning: manner, transparency, and timing and (2) tailoring: touchpoints, level, and dynamics. For each of these components, the authors propose future research avenues to stimulate personalization research that accounts for challenges in today's data-rich environments (e.g. data privacy, dealing with new data types). A theoretical, contextual, and methodological (i.e. industry, country and personalization object) review of the selected studies leads to a set of concrete recommendations for future work: account for heterogeneity, embed theoretical perspectives, infuse methodological innovation, adopt appropriate evaluation metrics, and deal with legal/ethical challenges in data-rich environments. Finally, several managerial implications are put forth to support practitioners in their personalization efforts.Originality/valueThis research provides an integration of personalization research beyond existing and outdated review papers. Doing so, it accounts for the impact of new technologies and Artificial Intelligence and aims to advance the next generation of knowledge development on personalization.

EVOLUTION OF HOT STAMPING TECHNOLOGY: A BIBLIOMETRIC REVIEW

Today's huge automotive industry requires continuous innovations. In this sense, numerous publications on new materials or developments which can provide new weight reductions or safety improvements are released every day. An important example is hot stamping, which has been gaining popularity in the last years due to its advantages for the sector. Considering the strong influence of the automotive sector in world economies, we have focused our attention on the literature concerning not only hot stamping itself but also on several other technologies which are related to the same transformation procedure, to have a complete photograph of the evolution of the technology itself. We contribute with a systematic literature review process, enriched by a bibliometric review. The use of both contributes in a neutral, reliable manner, reducing the possible bias of traditional literature reviews, which have been previously employed in this specific discipline. We have resorted to the Web of Science to execute a query related to all the possible procedures that involve hot stamping technology, which correspond with 573 English peer reviewed publications from journals indexed in this database. The results clarify that hot stamping is a key issue in metallurgy publications with significant future prospects due to its manufacturing implications. Innovative and disruptive pedagogies in music education: A systematic review of the literature

This paper presents a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) about pedagogical innovation and disruption in music education. A rigorous SLR process was applied to the selection of papers related to innovative practices in music education at different educational levels and in a range of contexts. Although there are similar studies on innovation in education, there is no SLR on pedagogical innovation and disruption in music education using this method. The purpose of this study is to present an example of how to do an SLR and to share the findings of the review itself. We also provide a snapshot based on a tight SLR process of some instances of innovation in music education that, in some way, are drawing the paths to be followed in future investigations. According to the categories of innovation that we have established to analyze our corpus of papers, disruption is produced by modifying four fundamental factors in the act of learning (purpose and context learning, teacher/student relationship, and learner role). These factors can contribute to developing a more flexible and open curricula incorporating a holistic, collaborative, and interdisciplinary vision of learning. We consider that the value of this study lies in reflecting a systematic methodological process for the analysis of the scientific literature as well as the findings.

An intelligent literature review: adopting inductive approach to define machine learning applications in the clinical domain

Big data analytics utilizes different techniques to transform large volumes of big datasets. The analytics techniques utilize various computational methods such as Machine Learning (ML) for converting raw data into valuable insights. The ML assists individuals in performing work activities intelligently, which empowers decision-makers. Since academics and industry practitioners have growing interests in ML, various existing review studies have explored different applications of ML for enhancing knowledge about specific problem domains. However, in most of the cases existing studies suffer from the limitations of employing a holistic, automated approach. While several researchers developed various techniques to automate the systematic literature review process, they also seemed to lack transparency and guidance for future researchers. This research aims to promote the utilization of intelligent literature reviews for researchers by introducing a step-by-step automated framework. We offer an intelligent literature review to obtain in-depth analytical insight of ML applications in the clinical domain to (a) develop the intelligent literature framework using traditional literature and Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) topic modeling, (b) analyze research documents using traditional systematic literature review revealing ML applications, and (c) identify topics from documents using LDA topic modeling. We used a PRISMA framework for the review to harness samples sourced from four major databases (e.g., IEEE, PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar) published between 2016 and 2021 (September). The framework comprises two stages—(a) traditional systematic literature review consisting of three stages (planning, conducting, and reporting) and (b) LDA topic modeling that consists of three steps (pre-processing, topic modeling, and post-processing). The intelligent literature review framework transparently and reliably reviewed 305 sample documents.

Application of digital technologies for health and safety management in the infrastructure sector

Being one of the oldest industries in existence, the infrastructure industry is quite rigid and set in its ways. This is bound to happen as when the industry is moving forward without innovation, why invest more to change. This also means the same mistakes, issues, problems and hazards continue within the system. Without innovation factors like defective equipment, human error, hazardous activities, environments dangerous to work in etc. are major causes for concern in terms of health and safety. Today there are multiple digital technologies available, some more complex and exhaustive than others, which can be explored to ensure better health and safety standards and support management of the same. With multiple emerging technologies, the intent was to explore and study, categorise, identify the target point of research, analyse the core role and lastly understand how these digital technologies can be used to improve health and safety management in the infrastructure sector. Academic databases like the ASCE library, Science Direct, Web of Science, Taylor and Francis etc. paved the way for systematic and extensive literature review process which was employed to conduct the study.

Visualization and bibliometric analysis on the research of financial well-being

Financial well-being using a bibliometrics analytical approach to analyze the networks, clusters, and trends of scientific production is studied. This research uses a systematic literature review process, which is a step-by-step process-driven methodology, to find 327 articles published between 1978 and 2021 on the subject of financial well-being. This paper applies the bibliometrics method to investigate the research trends in the study of financial well-being, specifically analyzing the quality of the research by the citation status and the mutual influence of these articles. The results of the study provide an overview of citation trends on financial well-being such as the most cited papers and the network of these papers, the keyword distribution, the co-authorship status, bibliographic coupling analysis, and the most influential journals. This study tries to determine the trends and development of financial well-being research. This can help researchers attain a comprehensive understanding of this field and can be a reference for the application of financial well-being visualization approaches.

Digitalising the Systematic Literature Review process: the MySLR platform

ABSTRACT The main contribution of this paper is the development of a digital platform to support researchers in conducting systematic literature reviews (SLRs). The digital platform is able to overcome limitations of other available tools to support, in particular, reviews in the organisation and management field of study. The name of this platform is MySLR. After analysing characteristics of main approaches for SLRs, we highlighted limitations of methods and digital platforms currently used to support researchers in SLRs thus we defined an original methodology for digitalising the SLR phases. The methodology, that can overcome limitations of other methods, has been implemented in the MySLR digital platform. To validate the correctness of the methodology and test the robustness of MySLR, a SLR use case has been carried out in the field of human resource management in the context of Industry 4.0. Main results of this SLR have been reported as well.

A Systematic Literature Review on Security Challenges In A Hybrid Cloud Database

Cloud computing paved the way to many technical facilities for companies to develop their business needs in more effective and efficient manner. Combining private and public cloud into so called Hybrid cloud has made a positive leap in business by allowing applications and data to be shared among enterprises. However, many challenges and issues have arisen when adopting the hybrid cloud to manage, store and process data. The most critical one of these challenges is the security of the adopted Hybrid cloud. This research presented a comprehensive study about the security challenges in the Hybrid cloud computing as well as the suggested solutions. The study used a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) process to collect, review and summarize published articles from IEEE and Springer Nature databases and between 2020 and 2021. As a result, there were 7 eligible articles selected according to the search criteria and fully reviewed. The findings have revealed that there are four main challenges which are Data Security, Access Control, Privacy, Data Leakage and Cy- ber Attacks. Future studies should be conducted using different databases to have further investigation regarding the security in Hybrid clouds.

GREEN HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT IN HOSPITALITY INDUSTRIES: A SYSTEMATIC LITERATURE REVIEW

<p>The publication of the Green Human Resources Management (GHRM) review in the hospitality industry still leaves extensive development opportunities. GHRM's strategic role in realizing sustainable tourism needs to be studied from the forming factors, technical application, and its impact on various variables. Through the systematic literature review process, this article seeks to uncover GHRM studies in the hospitality industry from 2016-to 2021. The data sources used come from Science Direct, Sage Journal, and Emerald outlets with multi-region viewpoints.
