Effect of Budget Process Reforms on Government Infrastructural Projects Success at the Ministry of Roads and Transport in Kenya

Purpose: The aim of the study was to examine effect of budget process reforms on government infrastructural projects success at the Ministry of Roads and Transport in Kenya Methodology: The descriptive type of survey research design was utilized with the population targeted being 6 staff members at the Ministry of Roads and Transport, 27 budget and appropriation committee members at the parliamentary committee and 8 Parliamentary Budget Office members (PBO) and 3 senior officials from the Kenya National Highway Authority. Census sampling technique was employed to reach the sample size. Hence, all the 44 respondents were involved in the study. A questionnaire was employed to gather information and quantitative techniques adopted for analysis. Validity and reliability of the questionnaire was tested and it had an overall Cronbach Alpha of 0.826. Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS version 21) was integrated to code information gotten from the questionnaires and summarized into percentages and frequencies. The summary was then outlined in pie charts, figures, and tables. Findings: From the analysis, the study found that the major budget reform processes include accountability, enhancing public participation, and strengthening enforcement. The study established that budget reform process had a statistically significant influence on the success of government infrastructural project success. Unique Contribution to Theory, Practice and Policy: System theory can be used to anchor future studies on effect of budget process reforms on government infrastructural projects success at the Ministry of Roads and Transport in Kenya. Accountability measures should be introduced and the relevant bodies held responsible for any mishaps in the project implementation process. It was suggested that there is a need for further studies to be conducted to examine other factors impacting the government infrastructural projects success.

The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank's Role in Promoting Sustainable Hydropower Projects: A Comparative Analysis of the Mangdechhu and Punatsangchhu-I Projects

This study compares the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB)-led Mangdechhu Hydroelectric Project with the World Bank-supported Punatsangchhu-I Hydroelectric Project. By comparing the approval and implementation process, multilateral and regional cooperation, sustainable development factors, and challenges and coping strategies of these two hydropower projects, it is concluded that AIIB has a clear advantage in promoting sustainable energy projects. AIIB has demonstrated an efficient project approval and implementation process, as well as close multilateral and regional partnerships. In addition, AIIB has systematically focused on the environmental, social and economic impacts of the project, so that sustainable development can be balanced in the progress of energy projects. However, the agency's pressing issues include technical difficulties, environmental protection, and population resettlement. In order to meet these challenges, AIIB needs to strengthen the learning of experience, optimize the project strategy, and expand the scope of cooperation. The findings of this study have guiding value for policymakers and academia. In future energy cooperation and investment, governments, multilateral development banks and relevant institutions should learn from the practical experience of AIIB and formulate more effective and targeted policies and plans. By tackling challenges together, we will contribute to solving global energy problems and promoting sustainable development.

INTERNAL TEAMWORK PRACTICES AND PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION IN NON-PROFIT PROJECT IN RWANDA: A CASE OF UPHLS

Background:This research study aimed to assess the influence of internal teamwork practices on project implementation in non-profit organizations operating in Rwanda, with a specific focus on The Umbrella of Organizations of Persons with Disabilities in the Fight Against HIV&AIDS and for Health Promotion (UPHLS). The study was structured around three specific objectives which were: To assess the effect of Team Collaboration on Project Implementation Success within the UPHLS project in Rwanda. To determine the influence of Resource Allocation on the Timeliness of project implementation within the UPHLS project in Rwanda. And finally, to evaluate the influence of Training and Development on the Quality of Deliverables in the UPHLS project in Rwanda. Materials and Methods:In order for the researcher to achieve the objectives of the research, a descriptive and correlation research design were adopted. Data was collected through a combination of both quantitative and qualitative methods, utilizing interview guides and questionnaires. The research population of this research included the broader staff population of 22 at UPHLS headquarters, these individuals were all considered as the sample size through the adoption of the census sampling technique where the entire population is inclusive in the study under investigation due to the small size of this population. Results:From the collected data the findings identified critical factors influencing success. Effective communication (mean=4.23, SD=1.45), clear task allocation (mean=4.27, SD=1.31), appropriate leadership (mean=4.36, SD=1.27), a culture of trust (mean=4.46, SD=1.18), and regular feedback (mean=4.32, SD=1.29) were key contributors to successful project implementation. Resource allocation significantly impacted timeliness, with financial resources (mean=4.68, SD=1.23), human resources (mean=4.89, SD=1.56), material resources (mean=4.45, SD=1.34), procurement practices (mean=4.76, SD=1.45), and budget oversight (mean=4.89, SD=1.23) playing crucial roles. Training and development initiatives positively influenced the quality of project deliverables, with mean scores ranging from 4.39 to 4.58 and corresponding percentages of agreement ranging from 44.46% to 50.87%. Correlation analysis demonstrated a strong positive correlation (r=0.736, p=0.001) between internal teamwork practices and project implementation. The research therefore concluded by emphasizing the significant role of cohesive teamwork in project success. The study went further to mention that these findings underscored the importance of effective communication, resource management, and training initiatives in enhancing project outcomes in the context of non-profit projects, providing actionable insights for organizations aiming to improve their project implementation processes. Conclusions: Based on the studys findings and conclusions, several recommendations were made by the research where the study suggested enhancing internal teamwork practices in non-profit projects, especially UPHLS in Rwanda, by fostering trust, allocating resources, investing in training, and recognizing the strong correlation between teamwork and project success. These recommendations aimed to improve collaboration, efficiency, and project outcomes. Building on the insights from the current study on internal teamwork practices in Rwandan non-profit projects, the study suggested further research, including cross-cultural analysis, longitudinal studies, qualitative leadership styles, external stakeholders, comparative analysis, and global events, to enhance project management and foster social development.

Implementasi Projek Penguatan Profil Pelajar Pancasila Dalam Pengembangan Karakter Peserta Didik di SMP N 3 Kertek Wonosobo

This thesis aims to: 1) Understand the concept of the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project in developing the character of students at SMP N 3 Kertek Wonosobo; 2) Knowing the implementation of the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project in developing the character of students at SMP N 3 Kertek Wonosobo; 3) Knowing the supporting and inhibiting factors in the implementation of the Strengthening Pancasila Student Profile Project in developing the character of students at SMP N 3 Kertek Wonosobo.This research uses a qualitative type of research using a descriptive approach to collect in-depth information from relevant sources such as teachers, school principals and students through interviews, observations and documentation. After the data is collected, it is then analyzed using data analysis, namely, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions.The research results show that: 1) The concept of the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project used at SMP N 3 Kertek Wonosobo is in accordance with the design expected by the Ministry of Education and Culture, where the aim is to motivate students to contribute more to the surrounding environment. The concept prepared includes several stages, including forming a coordinator and facilitator team, selecting character dimensions to be developed, selecting themes and activity topics, allocating time, and creating modules. 2) The implementation of the Project for Strengthening the Pancasila Student Profile in developing the character of students at SMP N 3 Kertek Wonosobo has been successfully carried out through three stages, namely the inspiration stage, the creation stage and the dedication stage. Through the project implementation process, character development is embedded in accordance with the dimensions of the Pancasila student profile. 3) Supporting factors for the Strengthening Pancasila Student Profile Project in developing the character of students at SMP N 3 Kertek Wonosobo include choosing a theme that is appropriate to the school environment, the availability of facilities and infrastructure, and collaboration between students, teachers and the community. The inhibiting factors are budget limitations, lack of student readiness, and less effective technical distribution of picket teacher facilitators.

The power of collaboration in multifishery improvement initiatives

Abstract Addressing diverse and complex socio-ecological challenges is crucial for achieving ocean sustainability. This is especially true for effective fishery management, which is vital for the sustainability of marine resources. One way of overcoming barriers to fisheries reform is through interdisciplinary collaboration and innovative management and policy approaches. One such approach is market incentives offered by eco-certification against sustainability standards, such as those set by the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC). Complementary interventions that support sustainability improvements are fishery improvement projects (FIPs) and MSC pathway projects. These interventions have clear intermediary and final objectives, and monitoring impact throughout the implementation process remains important. We interviewed participants of a pathway project from five fisheries in South Africa and Mexico using semistructured interviews designed to capture the nonmonetary impacts of these projects as they progress. Our results show that interventions can play a role in facilitating broader collaboration within a fishery and across stakeholder groups, increasing sustainability awareness. Emphasizing the importance of stakeholder engagement and collaboration, we highlight how the project implementation process can lead to communication changes that lead to improved understanding and collaboration. Importantly, we reflect on the suitability of the survey in monitoring progress in such projects.

Kajian Faktor-Faktor Penyebab Contract Change Order (CCO) Pada Proyek Konstruksi di Kota Palangka Raya

A construction project is a series of activities carried out only once and generally within a short period of time. Construction projects are related to the construction of a building, which then functions in various activities related to the government and the private sector. In the project implementation process, obstacles often occur such as changes. These changes can occur at the beginning, middle and end of the project. The problem that is often experienced in construction work is changes, where the changes themselves can be in the form of differences in volume, additions or reductions in work, with these changes it cannot be denied that there will be a change to the work contract or Contract Change Order. Project administration must be carried out carefully and structured correctly to avoid errors that can have an impact on all sectors. This research uses descriptive research where researchers will analyze data from survey results by distributing questionnaires to respondents with the aim of finding out the Contract Change Order factors that occur in Palangka Raya City. The method used is a literature study on Contract Change Orders by comparing related journals. The results obtained are that there are 4 Contract Change Order Factors, namely Planning and Design, Administration, Construction and Stakeholders which have 20 sub-factors Contract Change Order

Economic Impact of Lean Healthcare Implementation on the Surgical Process.

The objective of this study was to analyse and detail surgical process improvement activities that achieve the highest economic impact. Over 4 years, a team of technicians and healthcare professionals implemented a set of Lean surgical process improvement projects at Vall d'Hebron University Hospital (VHUH), Barcelona, Spain. Methods employed in the study are common in manufacturing environments and include reducing waiting and changeover time (SMED), reducing first time through, pull, and continuous flow. Projects based on these methods now form part of the daily routine in the surgical process. The economic impact on the hospital's surgical activity budget was analysed. Process improvements have led to annual operational savings of over EUR 8.5 million. These improvements include better patient flow, better management of information between healthcare professionals, and improved logistic circuits. The current cultural shift towards process management in large hospitals implies shifting towards results-based healthcare, patient-perceived value (VBHC), and value-added payment. A Lean project implementation process requires long-term stability. The reason a considerable number of projects fail to complete process improvement projects is the difficulty involved in establishing the project and improving management routines. Few studies in the literature have investigated the economic impact of implementing Lean management a posteriori, and even fewer have examined actual cases. In this real case study, changes to surgical block management were initiated from stage zero. After being carefully thought through and designed, changes were carried out and subsequently analysed.

Sustainability needs service Efficacity

Today it is increasingly necessary to talk in terms of a circular economy. Design contributes through different disciplines by intervening in materials, production processes and product life cycles, but also through the design of services that develop models of exchange and reuse. The paper illustrates the contribution of service design in the implementation process of the Efficacity project. The first objective of Efficacity is to optimise the collection of bulky waste, through the development of a platform that catalogues and recognises the type of waste through its image. The second goal is to build an infrastructure to intercept the goods before they reach the landfill. Efficacity project is connected to the Surpluse reuse and repair centres, because Efficacity needs Surpluse spaces/social communities, otherwise Surpluse needs Efficacity digital process/social network to improve the network and service offer.

This reseаrсh exаmined the influenсe оf рrоjeсt mаnаgement рrосess оn рerfоrmаnсe оf feeder rоаds соnstruсtiоn рrоjeсts in Rwаndа. Feeder rоаds соnstruсtiоn рrоjeсts exрerienсe сhаllenges thаt hаmрer them frоm being effeсtively соmрleted within the аllосаted budget, timelines аnd tо the desired quаlity. This study sрeсifiсаlly investigаted hоw рrоjeсt initiаtiоn, рrоjeсt рlаnning, рrоjeсt implementation аnd рrоjeсt mоnitоring аnd соntrоl influenсe the рerfоrmаnсe оf feeder rоаds соnstruсtiоn рrоjeсts. The study was соnduсted in аll the 10 Distriсts feeder rоаds соnstruсtiоn рrоjeсts in Rwаndа. These feeder rоаds рrоjeсts аre аt vаriоus stаges оf соmрletiоn. The number оf seleсted resроndents was 84 respondents from all 84 employees аnd cencus was used from which 77 responses were received. The study used desсriрtive reseаrсh designs аnd аррlying questiоnnаire in соlleсtiоn оf dаtа. Thrоugh quаntitаtive аnаlysis, the study fоund оut that рrоjeсt initiаtiоn, рrоjeсt рlаnning, рrоjeсt exeсutiоn аnd рrоjeсt mоnitоring аnd соntrоl hаve а significant relаtiоnshiр with feeder roads рrоjeсts рerfоrmаnсe. Moreover, it was estаblished оut аt whiсh extent thоse рrоjeсt mаnаgement рrосess рhаses аre being аrrаnged in the feeder rоаd рrоjeсts under study. The study emрlоyed multiрle lineаr regressiоn mоdel fоr dаtа аnаlysis аnd it соnсluded that рrоjeсt mаnаgement рrосess рhаses influenсed the рerfоrmаnсe оf feeder rоаds соnstruсtiоn рrоjeсts. The R-squared (R2) equals to 0.880 (or 88.8%) and adjusted R-squared equals to 0.873 (or 87.3%); the results show the goodness of fit of the estimated model. Up to 88.8% of long-run appreciation in performance is influenced by changes in project initiation process; project planning process; project implementation process and project monitoring & control process as implemented by FRCP. The other remaining 11.2% can be explained by other factors not examined in this study. The results of ANOVA as p-value is less than 5%, this specifies that the performance of FRCP was significantly driven by at least one independent variable under this study. Therefore, the calculated F-value equals to 131.960 and this is greater than critical F-Value which is 2.499. Consequently, the general regression model is significant. Las bibliotecas libres en Serena del Mar: Un estudio exploratorio desde Cartagena de Indias (Colombia)

In the city of Cartagena de Indias (Colombia), a group of residents of Serena del Mar consolidated the Free Libraries project and consists of placing furniture with books in public sectors of this new urban project. This article describes the project implementation process from infrastructure and regulatory issues, evaluating the fulfillment of its objective around maintaining a cultural project from community self-management. The evaluation reveals the need to apply minimum library science activities to this type of initiatives, among which are classification, regulation and organization. From an exploratory investigation, a socio-critical analysis is carried out, which is based on qualitative methods of documentary analysis. The findings are a first starting point for the generation of future research on strategies to consolidate cultural projects self-managed by communities.

Implementation of the GAA 'healthy clubs project' in Ireland: a qualitative study using the Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research.

The sports clubs' role in promoting health has been acknowledged by policy makers and researchers, but there is little evidence on how sports clubs implement health-related interventions. The present article investigates the Gaelic Athletic Association Healthy Club Project (HCP) implementation process (mechanisms, barriers, leverages) over a 10-year timeframe. A case study design helped to produce and compare a data synthesis for five clubs involved since 2013. A qualitative iterative data collection, including document analysis was conducted through 20 focus groups with Healthy Club Officers, coaches, participants and members. The Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research was used in the deductive analysis process, conducted by the first author. Results have shown the success of the HCP in placing health promotion on the agenda of sports clubs leading to informal policy for health promotion, even if activities and recognition are directed toward and coming from the community. This study also underlines the virtuous cycle of the settings-based approach in enhancing membership and volunteer recognition through health promotion actions, and the importance of social good and corporate social activities for sports clubs. Nevertheless, the HCP still relies on limited human resources, is not recognized by competitive oriented adult playing members. and acknowledged as a resource by some coaches, limiting its rootedness in the core business of sports clubs. Future research should empower the HCP community to focus on organizational changes and develop outcomes for individuals, for the club as a whole as well as for the local community.

The Influence Of The Project Based Learning Model In Increasing Independent Learning And Critical Thinking Ability Of Students In Class V At Jembrana

Soft skills of independent learning and critical thinking are necessary in the 21st century. Independent learning trains students to have a responsible attitude when performing assigned tasks by using ideas, the innovation and creativity that students have to complete assigned tasks and hopefully it will continue to be integrated into adulthood. At the same time, critical thinking skills are needed to analyze existing knowledge and resources to solve problems that students encounter in daily life. The project-based learning (PBL) model supports students to actively participate in learning activities and project creation processes, so that learning materials become easier to understand and skills can be developed. skills such as independent learning and critical thinking. Analyze the impact of the PBL model on independent learning skills. Quantitative method with MANOVA (Multivariate Analysis of Variance) analysis was used in this study. This study uses a control class of 19 students and an experimental class of 10 students. The results show that applying the PBL model has a significant impact on critical thinking skills and learning independence, as evidenced by the significance level of 0.000 < 0.05 and 0.011 < 0.05. The learning process by giving projects to fifth grade elementary students provides an opportunity to develop basic concepts of the material available to them. During the project implementation process, many problems will certainly arise that encourage students to think critically when solving problems. Independent learning occurs before analysis, where students must gather multiple references to find and support their hypotheses to come up with more effective and efficient solutions.

Implementation of the Project to Strengthening the Pancasila Student Profiles in Kindergartens in Pemalang Regency

The independent curriculum is a new curriculum in which there are co-curricular activities, namely implementing projects to strengthen the profile of Pancasila students by emphasizing the process of children's activities to stimulate the character of Pancasila in their lives. The purpose of the study is to describe the implementation of the project to strengthen the profile of Pancasila students in PAUD. The method used in this research is qualitative with a case study approach. This research was used to obtain information on the project's implementation process to strengthen the profile of Pancasila students in kindergarten through activities with the theme "I Love Indonesia" commemorating Independence Day in school activities. Data are obtained through triangulation of interviews, observations, document studies, and field notes. Research subjects of schools, teachers, and children aged 5-6 years in several kindergartens in Pemalang Regency. The results showed that schools implementing project activities to strengthen the profile of Pancasila students in kindergarten are still experiencing an adjustment stage in learning because teachers still have difficulties in making and designing teaching modules and learning activities in schools. The character of faith, cooperation, and creativity is stimulated in the project to strengthen the profile of Pancasila students on the topic of commemorating the Indonesian Independence Day. During the evaluation of the implementation of the Pancasila student profile strengthening project, there were supporting and inhibiting factors. Then, educators have an effort to implement learning activities to implement the Pancasila student profile. Application of the controlling mechanism and sustainable development principles in the implementation of construction projects

The relevance of the study is determined by the need to ensure sustainable functioning of construction enterprises by increasing the efficiency of investment projects through the use of controlling mechanisms and application of the ESG concept. As a result of the research, the interrelation of project implementation processes by management phases was analyzed, problems in terms of control of investment and construction projects were identified and directions for improving the control mechanism with the application of the ESG concept were proposed. The purpose and main result of the study is to develop measures to improve the methods of control over the timing of implementation of investment and construction projects, taking into account compliance with the principles of the ESG concept.

Factors affecting the successful implementation of telecommunication tower projects in Zambia

The research aimed at identifying factors that affect the successful implementation of telecommunication tower projects at Airtel Networks Zambia Plc and IHS Zambia Limited, in order to ensure adequate measures are put in place to support the successful implementation of telecommunications tower projects by market players. The study took a pragmatic approach to inquiry with a triangulated design where 16 professionals with industry experience and position of influence were purposively recruited. Data was collected using questionnaires and interviews. Descriptive statistics and Chi-square statistics were used to analyse quantitative data, while content analysis was used to analyse qualitative data. The study findings revealed at least 5 factors that negatively affect the successful implementation of the telecommunication tower projects and these are Projects Scope Management, Projects Time Management, Projects Cost Management, Projects Communication Management, and Human Related Factors. The study also revealed that these factors had an adverse impact on project scheduling hence resulting into project delays. Subsequently, it was revealed that delayed legal formalities led to excess project expenses in form of warehouse and rental charges for the piece of land. Additionally, the study findings revealed that poor project scope description had a negative effect on the proper and efficient planning of project resources. Finally, the study revealed that poor project procurement management led to inadequate resource availability hence affecting the project schedule due to lack of resources as subcontractors could not proceed with the projects in the absence of necessary materials. The study recommended organizations to invest more resources in ensuring that various factors that impend the successful implementation of the telecommunication tower projects are known, as well as invest in Research and Development and project managers to ensure comprehensive project planning and evaluation before the project is initiated. This would also help ensuring that various challenges that affect the project implementation process at various stages of project’s implementation are mitigated.

초등예비교사의 공간적 시민성 함양을 위한 커뮤니티매핑 활용 가능성 모색

The purpose of this study is to explore the possibility of using community mapping project to foster spatial citizenship among elementary pre-service teachers. In this study, the pre-service teachers themselves selected a project topic suitable for fostering spatial citizenship, established a plan for implementation, and carried out the project according to the plan. Then, we analyzed the project cases and examined the preservice teachers' responses. As a result of analyzing the pre-service teachers' reflections and project evaluation sheets, the participants were able to analyze social issues from the perspective of spatial citizenship education through the community mapping process and understand the utility of community mapping as a geospatial technology. The following implications and limitations can be drawn. First, it seems that continuous checks and appropriate feedback are necessary to understand spatial attributes such as social organization and relational understanding of space during the project implementation process. Second, it is necessary to expand educational opportunities in elementary education institutions so that pre-service teachers can be equipped with geographic information technology utilization and spatial analysis skills. Third, it is necessary to provide various participation opportunities in connection with the local community so that pre-service teachers can solve real-world problems as spatial citizens. Fourth, it is necessary to find ways to continue utilizing the community mapping results of this project. Fifth, it is necessary to develop a measurement tool to facilitate the identification of spatial citizenship competences. Despite the implications and limitations of this study, this study is meaningful in that it sought to explore the possibility of utilizing a community mapping project to foster spatial citizenship in elementary pre-service teachers.

Research on the Application of NbS in Watershed Ecological Restoration: A Case Study of Jiulong River Watershed Shan-Shui Initiative

Nature-based solutions (NbS) rapidly develop globally to address societal challenges and provide human well-being and biodiversity. Watershed restoration plays an essential role in enhancing the ecological and socio-economic benefits of the region. The design and implementation of watershed restoration projects are crucial to their effectiveness, and NbS has been applied as a concept in ecosystem-related projects. This paper proposes an evaluation method to assess the implementation of the Shan-Shui Initiative in the Jiulong River Watershed restoration projects based on the eight criteria proposed by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Global Standard for Nature-Based Solutions. The aim is to standardize the implementation process of watershed restoration projects to achieve more significant benefits and practically apply the concept of NbS in watershed restoration. The implementation scheme of the Shan-Shui Initiative in the Jiulong River Watershed is designed to evaluate and improve the design and implementation scheme of ecological restoration projects in the actual basin. According to the assessment results, the degree of matching based on NbS for the implementation scheme of the Jiulong River Watershed Shan-Shui Initiative is 73%, which meets the criteria of NbS but needs to be improved in terms of monitoring and assessment, synergistic management, and benefit trade-offs.

Development of Project Methodology Implementation: Engineering Perspective

The study aimed to develop a methodology for the implementation of construction projects according to the world standards during the life cycle of the project from the beginning to the closure. Since the construction projects in Jordan suffers many problems, a specified questionnaire was designed as a method of data collection and distributed among simple random sample of 191 respondents from total population. The relative importance index was used to sort the practices according to their importance to the proposed methodology. The results showed that the most important factors according to the overall ranking based on the value of the relative importance index (0.844) is in the project planning stage. This is related to the duration of the task, which should not exceed more than (4-6) weeks; as the determination of the duration of the project activities is an important point in developing the methodology. In addition, the study revealed that the project monitoring and closing phase is the most important during the project life cycle (relative importance index was about 0.655). The lowest value of the relative importance index was (0.399) in the implementation phase of the project, which related to the impact of cash flow on the implementation of the project, because this factor particularly affects the implementation phase more than the implementation of the project as a whole. Finally, the results showed that if present methodology is applied the improvement would be between 75% to 79% in comparison to the conventional projects methodologies. Scope of the Study Deciding to choose the most suitable methodology in each project is essential step during project planning and whether to have one or more methodology for a project. Project methodologies are different in composition and the parts of a methodology all play a role in supporting the project team during the project life cycle to achieve the projects’ objectives. The study give insight of the best practices of project management that will lead to better performance for construction projects in Jordan, recommended key practices during implementation that could be adopted to achieve project success, and identify key problems facing project implementation processes. Objectives of the Study The main objectives of the study are as follows: 1-Developing a project methodology implementation from engineering perspective depending on world standards. 2-To analyze and find out and what are critical factors that play an importance role in influencing the project success (i.e. implementing the world standards). 3- Improve the quality of project planning and implementation, project implementation within time, cost, budget from engineering perspective. 4- Understand and manage employers needs in a positive way from engineering perspective. 5- Increase productivity and reduce costs and thus increase profits from engineering perspective. 6- Minimizing errors and defects in the product or service provided, reduced human error and waiting service time from engineering perspective.

BIM-INTEGRATED SYSTEM: A SUCCESSFUL ALTERNATIVE FOR ESTIMATING CASH FLOW IN BUILDING PROJECTS

Cash flow calculation is an essential economic aspect of evaluating the success of a construction project. Strong cash flow positively impacts not only project effectiveness but also company profitability. Cash flow calculation is a good way for the contractors to avoid risks related to delay, cost overrun, or incompletion caused by financial deficits in the project’s performance. Building Information Modeling (BIM) is a revolutionary technology 4.0 that has been mandated and adopted by many countries all over the world. In Vietnam, a roadmap for BIM application in the construction sector was issued in 2023, under which obligatory new investment projects in public investment state capital provide BIM files to serve the appraisal of feasibility study reports, construction designs carried out after fundamental designs, applications for construction permits, and acceptance testing tasks. However, BIM authoring programming is still limited to cost management, especially cash flow calculations, because Vietnamese contractors are still facing a lot of difficulties in applying BIM to their projects, especially cash flow calculations. Therefore, this paper proposes a BIM-integrated system for calculating construction cash flow at the early phase of the project life cycle. The proposed system includes four modules: BIM visualization and data integration, construction cost estimating, construction project scheduling, and project cash flow calculation. The main functionality of the BIM visualization and data integration module is to provide a 3D visualized model with enough geometric and non-geometric data for the project quantity take-off. The functionality of the construction cost estimating module is to provide the direct cost categories, such as labor, material, and machine, and the indirect cost categories to perform all work tasks in the construction project. The main functionality of the construction project scheduling module is to provide the required time to complete all work tasks in the project implementation process. The main functionality of the project cash flow calculating module is to present cash inflows such as advance payment, payments from the owner, and cash outflows such as construction costs, equipment costs, project management costs, and project consultant costs to carry out the projects. The BIM-integrated system will make the calculation process of construction project cash flow easier and more accurate.

The efficacy of building information model in cost control of green buildings in Shanghai

With the rapid development of modern cities, green buildings have become an important way to reduce energy consumption and environmental impact. The focus of the industry has shifted towards controlling the costs associated with these green buildings. As a solution, Building Information Modelling (BIM), an integrated digital tool, has gained widespread usage in the cost control of green buildings, including in the city of Shanghai. As a centre city of China, Shanghai has both prospects and challenges in the field of green building cost control, it is extremely important to conduct this comprehensive study in Shanghai. Therefore, the primary objective of this study is to delve into the impact of BIM on the cost control of green buildings in Shanghai and unveil its effect during the implementation process of green building projects. To achieve this goal, the author used qualitative research and conducted in-depth interviews with engineers who have used BIM technology in various green building projects. The interviews explored the application of BIM and its effect on controlling costs. The findings of this study reveal that BIM has had a significantly positive impact on the cost control of green buildings in Shanghai. By implementing BIM, the efficiency of cost control has been enhanced throughout the entire life cycle of these environmentally friendly structures. This improvement stems from the ability of BIM to provide accurate and detailed information about the building's design, construction, and operation, enabling better decision-making and resource allocation. The implications of this study are twofold. First, it helps to theoretically understand the impact of BIM on green building cost control, especially in the context of Shanghai. This adds to the existing body of knowledge and furthers research in the field. Secondly, this study also fills the research gap of BIM in the cost control of green building projects in Shanghai.
