The body politic has private parts: market creation as a policymaking tool

Abstract Philosophical arguments about government contracting either categorically oppose it on legitimacy grounds or see it as largely anodyne. I argue for a normatively distinct kind of contracting – the advance market commitment, or AMC – and show that it is justified by the same liberal values that justify the welfare state.

Ritual Child Homicides in Ghana and Kenya: A Criminological Analysis

Child homicide is a frequent occurrence in many African communities, and juju beliefs trigger a sizable proportion of this crime. Yet a systematic and critical analysis of juju’s impact on pedicides is lacking in the literature. The sparse extant studies on juju-driven homicide or ritual murder mainly offer historical perspectives rather than criminological analysis of the phenomenon. The present study explores the magnitude, characteristics, and motivations, as well as the socio-cultural and economic contexts of ritual child homicide or juju-driven pedicide (i.e., the killing of children for ritual or occult purposes) in Ghana and Kenya. This aim is achieved by conducting an in-depth analysis of ritual murder reports publicized on the websites of eight major news/media outlets between 2012 and 2021. The content analysis results are complemented by semi-structured interviews involving 28 academics and experts. The data show that ritual child homicide usually involves multiple offenders, primarily unemployed young adult males aged between 20 and 39 years. Most perpetrators are motivated by pecuniary gain and the desire to protect themselves against perceived spiritual attacks. The body parts primarily extracted from victims for rituals are the head, limbs, private parts, and blood. The major factors contributing to the persistence of ritual pedicides are obsession with juju, economic hardship, illiteracy, inefficient criminal justice system, authorities’ failure to bring juju practitioners under closer scrutiny, and the emergence of a new consumerist ethos—the unrestrained quest for luxurious effects.

Factors Affecting the Expected Outcomes of Implementing Comprehensive Sexuality Education on Learners in Rural Public Secondary Schools of Muchinga Province of Zambia

The study was focused on the factors affecting the expected outcomes of implementing Comprehensive Sexuality Education in rural public secondary schools of Muchinga province of Zambia. The main objectives was to identify factors that affects the implementation of Comprehensive Sexuality Education. The research employed Qualitative method. It used interpretivism paradigm. It employed descriptive design which described the state of affairs of Comprehensive Sexuality Education as it existed at the time when the research was conducted. The study sample comprised of headteachers, teachers, parents and learners with the total number of 384. It employed three instruments namely; semi structured interviews for headteachers, teachers, parents and learners, the close ended questionnaires administered on teachers, parents and learners whereas observation checklist was on used to teachers and learners. The study identified various factors for implementing Comprehensive Sexuality Education such as; learners having difficulties in sharing experiences to friends who have already been exposed to unhealthy and unsafe sexual experiences, inaccurate information on sexuality matters found on social media, difficulty in understanding some sexuality terms in English, being uncomfortable when learning about private parts which sounds like insults, learners fail to abstain from sexual intercourse after learning instead they opted to experiment what they were learning, inappropriate dress code among some female learners and teachers, inappropriate cultural and traditional practices, such as elopement. Parents who have difficulties in understanding why their children are learning Comprehensive Sexuality Education should be counselled and sensitized by school leaders. It is highly recommended that, the government should develop a deliberate policy of teaching Comprehensive Sexuality Education as a standalone subject and intensify the training of teachers in Comprehensive Sexuality Education using cascading model during in-service and pre-service trainings. The future recommendation from this study was that, A research on exploring the factors affecting the implementation of Comprehensive Sexuality Education and its expected outcomes in selected rural public secondary schools of Muchinga province of Zambia would be worthwise in order to establish the expected outcomes on learners. The same research should be conducted in other rural settings of Muchinga Province.

QIRÂAH FÎ KHIȚÂB AL-MAR'AH: A STUDY OF GENDER ISSUES IN THE BOOK DAWÂIR AL-KHAWF

This article examines gender issues in the thoughts of Naṣr Ḥāmid Abu Zayd as stated in his book entitled Dawâir Al-Khawf Qirâah Fî Khițâb Al-Mar'ah. Naṣr Ḥāmid was originally a follower of Al-Ikhwan al-Muslimun, who later turned into a liberal intellectual figure from Egypt who was known for his controversial and controversial thoughts. This study uses a literature study which refers to several main books of his works and is added to secondary sources in the form of several writings resulting from research on the thoughts of Naṣr Ḥāmid Abu Zayd. The results of this research show that Naṣr Ḥāmid criticizes the interpretations that have developed over time, especially regarding qiwâmah, inheritance, talak, polygyny and women's private parts (hijab). According to him, women are part of the substance that is rooted in human social existence in certain historical realities. These conditions of social relations determine the position of men and women equally in the social, cultural and intellectual framework. Both are equal as complete human beings. This thinking places him at the level of progressive thought and attracts many groups, which is sometimes in harmony with the ideas of early Egyptian Muslim feminists, namely Muhammad Abduh.

TABOO AND SWEAR WORDS IN HEARTBREAK HIGH SERIES

This study aims to identify the types of taboo and swear words and analyze their realization by the main characters in the Heartbreak High Series. This study utilizes a descriptive qualitative method, extracting data from the series, in the form of utterances, dialogues, and conversations that contain taboo and swear words. The findings revealed that four types of taboo words found in the Heartbreak High series realized by the main characters: lavatory (28%), private parts of the body (11%), religion (9%), sexual activity (43%), with an additional (9%) that does not align with Swan’s theory (1995). Additionally, this study categorizes swear words in the series into two categories. First are strong swear words, and second is weak swear words. Strong swear words consist of exclamations of annoyance (17%), exclamations of surprise (8%), exclamations of unconcern (2%), insults (33%), insulting request to go away (9%), emphasize an emotion (25%), surprise question (5%) and violent refusal/rejection (1%). Weak swear words consist of exclamations of annoyance (18%), exclamations of surprise (46%), and exclamations of emotion (36%). The emotional conditions of the main characters while using the swear words are joy, surprise, sadness, anger, fear, and hatred.

Phonetic smart clothing design based on gender awareness education for preschoolers

Abstract Given problems such as the late start of gender awareness education in China, the gender blurring in preschooler’s clothing, the lack of integrating gender awareness elements into preschooler’s clothing, etc., using children’s sensory functions such as vision, touch, and hearing, a phonetic intelligence module with alarm sounds and warning words is implanted into special parts of children’s clothing. When children gently touch the part, it can make a sound. This kind of smart clothing for preschoolers, which is both interesting and educational, enables children to understand gender knowledge more intuitively, have a certain gender awareness to better protect their private parts of the body, and develop a correct view of gender roles and a sound personality.

PANDANGAN SOSIOLOGI HUKUM ISLAM TERHADAP TRADISI MAPPATOPO PADA JAMA’AH HAJI SUKU BUGIS PERANTAUAN DI KABUPATEN FAKFAK

The difference traditions from each region in Indonesia makes them unique and has their own characteristics also. One of them comes from the South Sulawesi area, namely the Mappatoppo tradition. In the application of this tradition, there are several different views, therefore the author will explain how this tradition is seen from the perspective of Islamic law. This research uses the field research method, by collecting data based on the results of observations and interviews with some people. The Mappatopo tradition is a tradition of awarding titles Hajj who carried out by the overseas Bugis community in Fakfak Regency after performing the Hajj pilgrimage. The results of this research show that from the perspective of Islamic law, there are several deviations in the implementation of this Mappatopo tradition, namely the pilgrimage procession carried out by someone strange, the use of songko’ haji (head covering) for women who do not cover their private parts completely, and excessive use of jewelry (gold) and excessive decoration (Tabbaruj). According to the limitation theory of Muhammad Syahrur, there is no prohibition on implementing it as long as it can be applied according to limits that are in accordance with the teachings of the Shari'a, neither more nor less than what has been determined by the Shari'a.

Menafsir Ulang Hijab: Dinamika dan Makna Dalam Konteks Global

This article discusses the dynamics of wearing jilbab and its meaning in the context of globalization, focusing on the influence of cultural globalization on norms, values, and lifestyles in religious traditions. This research is a qualitative study using a netnography approach with data obtained from the response of the Indramayu Muslim fashion griya whatsApp group. This article discusses the evolution of the concept of hijab from a separator between free women and slaves to a tool to protect women's private parts from prying eyes. In addition, the article also highlights the different views on hijab, including the views of contemporary scholars and the impact of globalization on the views and practices of hijab in contemporary society. Thus, this article highlights how globalization, fashion trends, religious identity, and cultural values affect the dynamics of hijab and its meaning in contemporary society.

Perceived attitudes toward LGBTQ + physicians among individuals with psychiatric illness in the religiously diverse Southern Region of Thailand: a multihospital-based survey

ObjectivesThis study purposed to analyze perceived attitudes toward LGBTQ + physicians and related factors among individuals with psychiatric illnesses in southern Thailand.Materials and methodsFrom May to July 2023, a cross-sectional study was conducted at four psychiatric outpatient clinics in Southern Thailand. The questionnaires utilized were: 1) a demographic information questionnaire, 2) a questionnaire regarding attitudes toward LGBTQ + physicians, 3) a questionnaire evaluating individuals’ attitudes toward LGBTQ + physicians while receiving medical attention, and 4) a patient-doctor relationship questionnaire. All data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, and the factors associated with perceived attitudes toward LGBTQ + physicians were analyzed using the Wilcoxon rank sum test, the Kruskal–Wallis test, and linear regressions. The analyses were conducted using the R Foundation for Statistical Computing software, version 4.3.1. Statistical significance was defined as a p-value of less than 0.05.ResultsAmong our 542 participants, the mean age was 36.3 ± 14.1 years. The majority were female (64.6%), Buddhist (62.4%), and diagnosed with depression (46.3%). Approximately three-quarters showed a good doctor-patient relationship (74.0%). The median (IQR) score of the perceived attitudes toward LGBTQ + physicians was 75 (66, 88). Predominantly, the LGBTQ + physicians were perceived as normal (76.3%) and being a viable part of society (88.7%). Moreover, our participants disagreed with the view that being an LGBTQ + physician was a sin (70.6%) or immoral (68.2%). They felt comfortable during history taking (79.0%), physical examination not involving private parts of the body (72.5%), and management for both medical (78.4%) and psychiatric conditions (81.4%) at the hands of LGBTQ + physicians. However, they reported feeling uncomfortable during history taking involving private matters (6.3%) and the physical examination of private parts (16.4%). Older age, absence of LGBTQ + close relatives/friends, and being a Muslim were associated with lower scores of perceived attitudes toward LGBTQ + physicians. Conversely, a higher level of education and a reported mismatch between the patient’s sex and gender were associated with higher scores.ConclusionsMost participants reported positive perceived attitudes toward LGBTQ + physicians. However, some age groups and adherents of Islam showed lower perceived attitude scores and reported feeling uncomfortable receiving medical treatment from LGBTQ + physicians. On the one hand, LGBTQ + physicians have cause to be concerned about this point; on the other hand, finding appropriate approaches to promote positive attitudes toward LGBTQ + physicians among these groups of people remains a necessity.

Sexual favors as merchandise among very young Danish teenagers

The findings of Ravn et al. in the article published in this issue of DJOG, “Exchanging intimacy for favors and nude photos among ninth graders”, are quite shocking to an experienced worker in sexual and reproductive health and rights, such as myself. In our sexual education and contraceptive guidance used in Denmark we have moved far from the evidence-based and factual deliverance of knowledge on the body, on puberty, development of eggs and sperm, fertilization, menstrual cycles, the appearance and function of the sexual organs, to the emotional issues concerning sexuality. We have emphasized the importance of being ready, not giving in to external pressures, for example when it comes to starting sexual experiences, or having your first partnership time with whatever sexual practice you encounter. We have also pointed out how the undertaking of any sexual action must be preceded by the private consideration: “Am I ready for this?”, Do I want this?”, “Do I consent to this?”, Is this my desire or do I feel an outside pressure to do this?”. This pertains to oral sex, touching and manual stimulation, vaginal and rectal intercourse. No matter what kind of sexual activity it might be, it always calls for the individual to make up his or her own mind as to “Where are my boundaries here?” What do I want?” What do I consent to?”, What am I doing?”. The article by Ravn et al. describes scenarios where the taking of nude pictures and the selling of sexual services are part of the sexual activities for quite a few of young Danish teenagers to an extent that means that we have to take that into account when dealing with sexual health and rights education at a young age and even later in life. We have entered into a life situation where it is common to continuously take pictures of everything with our smartphones. That apparently includes pictures of our private parts with the article showing that 53% of the ninth’s graders had received and 12% had sent nude pictures on their phones. But the study does not tell us why. Are the youngsters showing off? Are they being pressured by their peers or by someone else? Are they thinking of the consequences? [abbreviated]

Peran Guru PAI dalam Pencegahan Pergaulan Bebas di SMPN 1 Biru-Biru Kabupaten Deli Serdang

The aim of this research is to prevent promiscuity through the role of Islamic Religious Education teachers by forming the character of Muslim students who are devout and have noble morals. This study uses a qualitative approach using observation data triangulation, interviews and documentation. The method used in this study is a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. The research location was carried out at SMP N 1 Biru-Biru, Deli Serdang Regency. The process was carried out for 3 months starting from 10 April – 10 June 2023. There were two data sources used, namely primary and secondary sources. The condition of promiscuity is caused by many influencing factors including internal and external factors. The promiscuity that exists at SMP N 1 Biru-biru includes dating between students and also the rise of pornographic and romantic displays at school. The PAI teacher's role as a teacher in teaching promiscuity and adultery material is good, in the sense that he has prepared a) planning in the form of preparing lesson plans for theme 8 (avoiding promiscuity and adultery) b) choosing methods and media for promiscuity and adultery material in learning; c) demonstrating teaching materials; d) prepare learning evaluations and conduct material assessments of promiscuity and adultery. Then, as an educator, namely a) instilling the values of Islamic sex education in Qur'an recital activities and youth recitations, and getting used to implementing Islamic sex education (separating seats during social gatherings or school events, dressing to cover one's private parts, and asking for permission); b) Activate religious culture in schools with supervision and monitoring; c) Assistance in Spiritual activities; d) Conducting guidance to students with problems; e) Become a role model in avoiding promiscuity and adultery by maintaining Islamic social ethics. As for the obstacles of PAI teachers in preventing promiscuity, there is a lack of cooperation between teachers and people.

Electronic Sexual Harassment Crimes in the Jordanian Penal Legislation

The negative use of modern electronic means has led to the emergence of a new type of crime. It is committed in an electronic environment, including crimes that constitute an outrageous sexual assault on the victim's body, which requires a legislative response. The descriptive and analytical approach is used in this paper. The study showed that protecting the body from every illegal sexual practice is the interest that the law aims to protect when it intervenes in criminalization and punishment. The criminal touches the body of the victim without his/her consent by extending to his private parts or revealing them. The study concluded that the Jordanian Cybercrime Law punished sexual exploitation crimes committed against children and the psychologically and mentally handicapped. It is devoid of any special and explicit text criminalizing the act of sexual harassment committed by electronic means such as chat rooms and electronic social networking sites. Under Article 15 of the same law, the criminalization of these crimes can be subject to the legal model of the crime of sexual harassment contained in the Penal Code.

The Ideal Career Woman from The Al- Qur'an Perspective

This research aims to analyze the interpretation of the verses of the Qur'an about the ideal career woman in Surah An-Nahl/16:97 and Al-Qashash/28:23-25, as well as explain the description of the ideal career woman from the perspective of al-Koran. This research uses a qualitative descriptive approach with literature study and interpretation of the Koran, highlighting the need for an in-depth understanding of career women in Islam. The results of this research, based on the interpretation of the verses of the Koran, suggest that ideal career women are those who do good and halal work, avoid work that can hurt themselves and the environment, and are good at protecting themselves from sinful acts. They are also advised to dress modestly and cover their private parts by the teachings of the Islamic religion, which emphasizes modesty and self-protection. This is expected to clarify the Koran's view regarding the ideal career woman, providing a strong theoretical foundation for Muslim women who want to develop their careers in the public sphere.

Konsep Kepribadian Seorang Muslimah Milenial Pada Era Revolusi Industri (Telaah Buku Amazing Stories)

In this modern and advanced era, the challenges of becoming a pious Muslim woman are much greater and more difficult. Personality means a series of normative human behavior, the norms of which are derived from the Koran, Sunnah and Ijtihad. An increasingly advanced civilization could also be a factor in the collapse of morals and morals. The progress and decline of Islamic generations cannot be separated from women. So there is a need for a female figure to be a role model, namely Fatimah Az-Zahra. Fatimah is a role model and exemplary example in her great qualities. The method used in this research is a qualitative research method, a type of library study research using content analysis. Muslim women are respected and given honor in Islam. Taking care of oneself, cleansing one's morals, covering one's private parts, wearing a hijab and dressing respectably are very noble and beautiful attitudes for Muslims. The character of Fatimah Az-Zahra greatly influences the development and personality of Muslim women in the current era. And Fatimah Az-Zahra's character can be a role model for shaping good human behavior for the development of her personality.

Awrah and Women's Clothing: Reinterpretation of Islamic Texts in Indonesian Contexts

The concept of Awrah among Indonesian Muslims undergoes a process of contextualization and adaptation to local culture. This article focuses on the understanding of the ulemas about Awrah based on the interpretation of Al-Quran and Hadith texts which have implications for the practice of women's clothing. By using a qualitative approach, data obtained from online media and interviews. This article shows that the models, forms and trends of women's clothing influenced by multiple interpretations of Islamic texts, which are not only influenced by religious understanding, modernity, local traditions but also the context of the relationship between Islam and the state. There has been a shift in the reasons women cover their private parts from piety and obedience in religion; security, comfort and tranquility; then a lifestyle. External factors that influence women to cover their awrah are due to the family and friends, as well as maintaining local traditions. Interestingly, women who choose not to cover their awrah have the support of religious prominent, with argumentation personally and religiously. There are attempts to reinterpret the spirit of Awrah which does not only focus on women's clothing, but includes issues of ethics, morals, decency and protection of women.

Pembentukan Karakter Religius Peserta Didik Melalui Pembiasaan Kegiatan Keagamaan di Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Bantarsari

This research aims to describe the formation of students' religious character and students' religious activities at MI Al Muttaqin Bantarsari. This research uses a qualitative approach with analytical descriptive methods. The research subjects were madrasa heads, teachers, employees and students. Data collection techniques in this research used interviews, observation and documentation. Data analysis uses the Miles and Huberman model, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this research show that the formation of the religious character of students at MI Al Muttaqin Bantarsari is carried out through habituation to religious activities, which starts from learning in the classroom by providing material that refers to the curriculum, syllabus and RPP, then implemented through habituation to religious activities. These religious activities are Cultivating 5S (Greetings, Smiles, Greetings, Politeness, Manners); Dress neatly, cleanly and cover your private parts; Habit of Duha and Midday Prayers in Congregation; Reading Nadzam Asmaul Husna and praying at the beginning and end of learning; Maintaining Cleanliness and Complying with Madrasah Rules and Regulations; Friday Koran; Habituation of Infaq/Jariyah; and the Kilat Ramadhan Islamic Boarding School. The implementation of religious activities is carried out based on a predetermined time. Evaluation of activities is carried out in various ways, there are weekly, monthly and annual evaluations. This evaluation was carried out to determine the extent of the positive impact and influence of religious activities on students and their suitability with the madrasah's vision and mission.

PEMAHAMAN HADIS TABARRUJ DAN KORELASINYA DENGAN NARSIS DI MEDIA SOSIAL TIK-TOK

This article aims to examine the understanding of tabarruj hadiths and their correlation with the Tik-Tok social media. This is motivated by the tabarruj phenomenon which is heavily influenced by up-to-date trends and styles, which often appear on social media, especially Tik-Tok. By using qualitative methods and the science approach of ma’ani al-hadith, this study concludes that: First, the hadiths that talk about tabarruj have forbidden tabarruj actions with the threat of not going to heaven, such as dressing naked because the clothes are too minimal, thin, and see-through, clothes that are too tight which stimulate men because some of their private parts are open, walking with waddling, tattooing and changing limbs to beautify themselves, and so on. Second, what this hadith says resonates with Tik-Tok social media users, especially women who often use thick make-up, contact lenses, false eyelashes, display beauty to make them look attractive, show off jewelry that should be hidden, wear tight clothes with excessive swaying so that showing curves. This kind of tabarruj actually exceeds the tabarruj that occurred in the era of ignorance which only showed the jewelry and neck when veiled.

Precoding-Based Downlink OAM-MIMO Communications With Rate Splitting

Orbital angular momentum (OAM) and rate splitting (RS) are the potential key techniques for the future wireless communications. As a new orthogonal resource, OAM can achieve the multifold increase of spectrum efficiency to relieve the scarcity of the spectrum resource, but how to enhance the privacy performance imposes crucial challenge for OAM communications. RS technique divides the information into private and common parts, which can guarantee the privacies for all users. In this paper, we integrate the RS technique into downlink OAM-MIMO communications, and study the precoding optimization to maximize the sum capacity. First, the concentric uniform circular arrays (UCAs) are utilized to construct the downlink transmission framework of OAM-MIMO communications with RS. Particularly, users in the same user pair utilize RS technique to obtain the information and different user pairs use different OAM modes. Then, we derive the OAM-MIMO channel model, and formulate the sum capacity maximization problem. Finally, based on the fractional programming, the optimal precoding matrix is obtained to maximize the sum capacity by using quadratic transformation. Extensive simulation results show that by using the proposed precoding optimization algorithm, OAM-MIMO communications with RS can achieve higher sum capacity than the traditional communication schemes.

Hijabers: Etnografi Gaya Berhijab 5 Mahasiswa di Fakultas Ilmu Sosial dan Ilmu Politik Universitas Tanjungpura

Hijab styles and models come in various variations. The hijab, not only as a cover for the private parts but has also emerged as a form of self-expression. Muslim women who wear trendy hijabs are called hijabers. Following the hijab fashion trend that is currently happening through social media, influencers, and the surrounding environment, causes an increase in the cost of living for hijabers among students at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Tanjungpura University, which is due to the increase in purchasing power to follow the hijab trend. This research aims to describe and analyze the hijabers lifestyle among students at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Tanjungpura University using ethnographic qualitative research. The use of consumer behavior lifestyle theory according to Philip Kotler and Gary Armstrong is used to analyze the results of research on consumer behavior lifestyle based on motivation and resource factors. This study found that there are various styles and styles of hijab that are influenced by social media and trends, increasing the cost of living.
