Preface

Al-Huda University College (HUC) is an Iraqi accredited private educational institution. It was founded in 2020. HUC has launched multiple community reach out initiatives in coincidence with post-war stabilization period. From women empowerment, environment recovery, demining, public health awareness to job creation projects and enhancing local institutional performance, HUC has been a fighter in advancing the local life. Since its founding, HUC has been offering quality education to multiple rising generations who contribute to an advanced Iraq. It offers rigorous quality undergraduate program in accounting, Oil engineer Techniques and laboratory Techniques. Ahead of this international event, HUC administration and board of trustees in addition to International Workshop on Nanotechnology Applications steering committee and chairmanship would like to extend their innermost appreciation for the international researchers, key-note speakers, academicians and experts who are making this event a successful reality. Due to growing concerns about COVID-19, IWN 20 has been provided fully virtual platform, ZOOM, as a another solution. Professional Training in Integrative and Complementary Practices: the meanings attributed by Primary Health Care workers.

To understand the meanings attributed by Primary Health Care workers to the professional training process in Integrative and Complementary Practices. Descriptive, exploratory study with a qualitative approach, carried out with 20 professionals from 14 health units in three municipalities in the Metropolitan Region of Goiânia, state of Goiás, Brazil. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, transcribed and analyzed using the thematic content analysis. Based on the analysis, the thematic category about training trajectories in Integrative and Complementary Practices emerged. It discusses that the training takes place through training provided by federal and municipal management or professional councils, via distance, semi-presential learning or in-person training. Furthermore, training courses are held at private educational institutions funded by the professionals themselves. Additionally, informal sources of information are used to obtain knowledge (internet, books and magazines). The results show, on the one hand, insufficient and diffuse training, with limited supply and quality and, on the other hand, the need to increase educational strategies to improve the training of health professionals aiming at providing different Integrative and Complementary Practices in the Primary Health Care.

Museum Trip to Enrich Environmental Awareness and Education

Real-world knowledge via exposure activities could be positively enriched with the aid of situated learning. In a way to practice this theory and to revolutionize the educational system, this phenomenological-qualitative research was conducted to analyze how natural history museum supports the interest of STEM students towards the environmental issues. Specifically, this study ought to answer the research questions: how did natural history museum improve the interest of STEM students towards environmental issues?, what are the changes in students’ conceptions of learning environmental issues after the museum exposure?, how museums could make environmental issues seem more ‘real’ and urgent?, what opportunities the students received in meeting museum staff?, and how do students compare what they learn and how they learn environmental issues in formal and informal science settings? Data triangulation technique including observation, semi-structured questionnaire and focus group discussion was administered to 20 STEM students enrolled in a private educational institution in the Philippines through purposive-sampling during the year 2019. The results of the study showed patterns according to the students’ individual sensory experiences from the museum visit. The reports of the students were analyzed and emerged in four themes: solving environmental problems by means of education, causes and effects of environmental issues, inquiry-based learning of natural history, and interesting and realistic learning scheme. It was indicated that the natural history museum do support the interest and learning of STEM students towards environmental issues at some aspects.

International responses to COVID-19: challenges faced by early childhood professionals

ABSTRACT The COVID-19 pandemic has caused a world crisis of an unprecedented nature. In March 2020, due to closing of non-essential private and public educational institutions, early childhood professionals had to quickly adapt and respond to the demands for social distancing, hygiene, new protocols and transition to online education. Alternatively, educators engaged in distance teaching and learning, when the families they serve lacked technological resources for online modalities. The present study examines how early childhood teachers in the United States and several Latin American countries are facing the challenges presented by COVID-19. The study clearly reflects the relevancy of the challenges faced by educators of young children, such as lack of preparation for distance teaching and learning, deficiencies in the pre-and in-service trainings to address the educational needs of young children distantly, and the need to work differently with caregivers. Teacher training and development should include the knowledge, skills, and dispositions necessary to successfully reconsider and participate in distance teaching and learning.

Research papers on Technical Vocational Education and Training Workforce Skill Development Policy and Strategy to Support fourth industrial revolution due to Disruptive Technology aim to explore directions, trends, impacts, as well as policies for managing labor issues in the Disruptive Technologies era, studying the opinions of executives of businesses used or affected by Disruptive Technology, as well as obstacles, feedback, focusing on issues, concepts about Disruptive Technologies and vocational education concepts. Research methodology used in qualitative research and procedures for conducting studies. The study results are the impact of Disruptive Technology on Thai workers and technical vocational education and training (TVET) to develop a skill for the Thai workforce during disruptive technology, educational management to develop Thai people in the Thai era.4.0. Therefore, two focuses must be placed on: 1) increasing labor skills and 2) educating new workers under reality. In conclusion, the article outlines the approach of skill development to the labor force that must be advanced in the era of Disruptive Technology. It was briefly explained that realistic work means workers with flexible knowledge and skills adapting to advanced technologies. Therefore, for work to meet the required standards, TVET development requires a professional standardization process, namely information related to work knowledge. Creating the necessary skills and attributes requires operational standards. Procedures and scope of operation operational equipment prove performance and expertise in technical skills knowledge, competence, and performance results and policy recommendations on the government sector: Private Educational Institutions in managing labor issues in the Disruptive Technology era.

Association between emotional intelligence and empathy among medical students: a single center cross-sectional study, Brazil, 2019

Abstract: Introduction: Emotional intelligence (EI) and empathy are two essential skills for person-centered Medicine. Objectives: To evaluate the association between EI and empathy and to assess whether sociodemographic factors and year at the medical school influence the level of EI and empathy. Methods: Cross-sectional study carried out in medical students from a private educational institution in the city of São João del-Rei, Minas Gerais, Brazil. EI levels were assessed using the Schutte Self-report Emotional Intelligence Test and empathy levels were assessed using the Jefferson Scale of Empathy (student version). All volunteers signed the Informed Consent Form before inclusion in the study. The statistical analysis used mean values, standard deviation, frequency distribution, Student’s t test, Pearson’s correlation, and linear regression. A significance level of 0.05 was considered. Results: From August 5 to 30, 2019, 193 volunteers, corresponding to 85.8% of the total population, agreed to participate in the study. The total EI (129.8 ± 13.3) and empathy (121.2 ± 11.6) observed scores were high. EI scores were influenced only by age (padjusted = 0.018). Students attending more advanced semesters had higher total empathy scores (padjusted = 0.013). Students whose parents did not have a higher education degree also had a higher total empathy score (padjusted = 0.031). A moderate positive correlation was observed between the total EI and empathy scores ( ρ =0.304, p<0.001) and between the total empathy score and the EI domain Managing Others’ Emotions ( ρ =0.300, p<0.001). A weak positive correlation was also observed between the total EI score and most of the empathy domains. Conclusion: A positive correlation between emotional intelligence and empathy was observed. The age influenced EI and the year of medical school and parental schooling influenced empathy.

Performance appraisal system attituition of employees with a special application to private educational institutes of Ghaziabad

Performance appraisals can be very helpful in fostering the growth of employees in the future, according to this study. The growth potential is discussed in many ways in the research. A performance appraisal system is essential for growth and profitability. During the study, we discussed how essential it is for superiors and juniors to communicate effectively to create a productive workplace environment. Several statistical tests have been used to analyze the data, including factor analysis and reliability tests. In Ghaziabad, 150 respondents were drawn from private educational institutes.

Enfermeiro escolar: a percepção dos professores sobre as atividades desenvolvidas

The aim was to understand the perception of elementary and high school teachers from public and private networks about the presence and actions of school nurses. This is a descriptive, cross-sectional field research of a quantitative nature, where an interview was carried out with teachers who work in elementary and secondary education at different public and private educational institutions about the perception of teachers regarding the role of school nurses. As a result, the survey showed that 100% of teachers believe the presence of a nurse in the school is important, even though many did not have the opportunity to work with him. It is concluded that this study points to the importance of school nurses, as through them we manage to have a longitudinally in care, seeking to bring knowledge to students at this stage of life, so that they can reduce illnesses and injuries in adulthood. A negative point is the lack of schools that have the program.

Effect of green-marketing integrants on green purchase intentions (GPI): A pragmatic study from Pakistan

The current study S purpose is to grasp the consequence of GPV(Green-perceived-value), GPR (Green-perceived-risk), and GT (Green-Trust), in GPI (Green-purchase-intention). The present study's target population was private sector higher education and research institutions, located in Punjab. Questionnaires were administered to 220 working personnel. Nonprobability sampling techniques were used. Multiple tests were done through SPSS AMOS, for Descriptive analysis, Reliability statistics, Factor analysis and Frequency distribution. Analysis of movement structure was used to check the putative association among the variables. This research work's outcome revealed that Green ‘s-perceived-value and Green ’s-trust were positively correlated with GPI while Green s-perceived-risk reported divergent association with the dependent variable.

Investigating students' behavioral intention to use mobile learning in higher education in UAE during Coronavirus-19 pandemic

The study explores the impacts of fear emotions on technology adoption by teachers and students during the COVID-19 pandemic. Mobile learning (ML) has been considered an educational, social platform in private and public higher education institutes. Since several fears are connected with COVID-19, this study's key hypotheses are related to how COVID-19 influences Mobile Learning (ML) adoption. Educators, teachers, and students may face some common types of fear in the course of the coronavirus pandemic, such as fear of losing social relationships, fear of educational loss and failure, and fear because of the lockdown of the family in the prevailing circumstances. Different theoretical models, named Expectation-Confirmation Model (ECM) and Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), are combined to develop an integrated model for this study. The proposed model was analyzed with the development of a questionnaire survey. The survey served as a data collection instrument to collect data from students of the University of Sharjah in Sharjah city in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Three hundred twenty undergraduate students participated in the study. The collected data was evaluated using the partial least squares-structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). The significant predictors revealed by experimental results included perceived fear, perceived ease of use, expectation confirmation, satisfaction, and perceived usefulness, explaining the intention to use the mobile learning platform. According to our study, teaching and learning can be benefitted to a great extent by the adoption of mobile learning (ML) during this pandemic for educational purposes; however, this process may be negatively affected by the fear of future educational results, fear of losing social relations and fear of stressful family situations. Therefore, appropriate student evaluation may be conducted to overcome the emotional distress caused by the pandemic effectively.

States of education, funding, and democracy in Nigeria

The restoration of democracy in Nigeria, particularly after decades of military dictatorship that began in 1966, has impacted the country’s general growth, including the education system. However, it has grown more difficult to achieve democratic success because various societal qualities are required, particularly in educational development and funding. Citizens can only acquire these qualities through literacy if the country’s education sector is democratized and adequately funded. One of the most significant obstacles to achieving this goal is a lack of financing, a persistent problem in Nigeria, particularly under this democratic government. As a result, there is an increasing number of private educational institutions, and government authorities in charge of education cannot effectively monitor and manage their establishment. However, due to the country’s democratic structure, care must be taken to guarantee that quality is not compromised. Overall, because of its impact on individual and national development, making quality education accessible to all Nigerians should be one of the government’s top priorities. This study aims to examine the current situation of education, funding, and democracy in Nigeria. This is done to better grasp the Nigerian educational system and its finance during the country’s democratic era.

Prospective Science-Teachers’ Services Satisfaction: an Exploratory Studies in Private Education Institutions in Indonesia

This study aims to explore the prospective science-teachers’ services satisfaction in private educational institution in Indonesia. Intended educational institution in this study is the Institute of Teacher Training and Education (IKIP) Mataram, Province of West Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. This study is a survey research, where data is collected using a questionnaire containing the statement items of services satisfaction on the aspects of reliability, responsiveness, assurance, empathy, and tangibility. Questionnaires were given to prospective-teachers who were actively studying and felt the services provided by the institution. Respondents involved as many as 282 prospective science-teachers, each of respondents from three study programs namely biology education, physics education, and chemistry education. The results of measurements of prospective science-teachers’ services satisfaction in IKIP Mataram on the aspects of reliability, responsiveness, assurance, empathy, and tangibility in a row with very good responses of 17.59%, good responses of 60.64%, sufficient responses of 13.76%, and less responses of 8.01%. The recommendation in this study is that private education institutions need to continue to improve services in all aspects, especially the most dominant is the tangible aspect.

Perceptions of Special Education Teachers on the Internal Efficacy of Their Institutions: A Comparative Study

Special education institutions are providing services to meet the unique needs of special students. Internal efficacy of any institution determines its effectiveness in terms of its outcomes. The current study was designed to explore the internal efficacy of special education institutions. The population of the study comprised of teachers teaching in the special education institution of the Lahore city. Sample of the study consisted of 200 teachers randomly selected from public and private sector special education institutions, currently performing their duties in the Lahore city. The study was quantitative in its nature conducting with descriptive research design. A standardized questionnaire was used to collect the data from the teachers after getting permission from its author. Initially, the questionnaire was piloted on a small number of participants to ensure its reliability. That was confirmed through Cronbach alpha (.750). After ensuring ethical considerations, researchers collected data by themselves from the teachers. The data were analyzed using SPSS. Results of independent sample t-test show the statistically significant difference between the public and private sector institutions’ internal efficacy. The internal efficacy of public sector special education institutions was better as compared to private sector special education institutions. Majority of the special education teachers serving in public sector institutes ranked the institutional communication, working environment, quality of education and professional support as major determined of internal efficacy of their institutions. The study has recommended that the private sector special education institutions need to enhance their internal efficacy.

Natural Disaster Reporting: A Content Analysis of Locust Infestation Coverage in Pakistani Newspaper

This study was undertaken to find issues and problems in quality assurance practices in public and private sector higher education institutes of Punjab Pakistan. There was a total of 156 faculty members (male & female) in the selected four departments of 10 selected universities (5 from public and five from private) which constitute an accessible population of this study. All the teachers and head of departments of those selected departments were the respondents of this study. The self-constructed instrument was validated by expert opinion and pilot testing. The responses of the faculty members were measured with the help of frequency and their percentages, mean and standard deviations. Each table is formed on the basis of the variables of the study. It was concluded that the biggest hurdle in quality assurance identified by this research is the unavailability of data for quality assurance. It was recommended by the researcher that the financing system by the HEC should be revised to even the playing field even more. This could be done by expanding the needs-based scholarship program for students attending private HEIs.

UKRAINIAN SCHOOLING BEFORE WORLD WAR I (BASED ON THE “DILO” MAGAZINE)

The purpose of the article is to analyze the state of the Ukrainian schooling before World War I according to the magazine “Dilo” (1910 – 1914). The methodology of the research is based on the principles of objectivity and historicism, as well as general and special historical methods, which helped to reveal the importance of the national education in the struggle for the Ukrainian university and national schooling in pre-war Galicia (Halychyna). The scientific novelty is that for the first time an attempt has been made to highlight the Ukrainians’ education system state before World War I, as the crucial factor in the cultural development of the Ukrainian ethnic group in the region, which contributed to the Ukrainians’ national self-assertion in the struggle for the political rights. The Conclusions. The Ukrainian schooling issue was the part of the National Liberation Movement in western Ukraine in Austria-Hungary before World War I outbreak. In general, the Ukrainian component of the educational process in Galicia was characterized by the authorities' neglect of the Ukrainian language rights, which became one of the fundamental processes of the Polonization policy pursued by the local administrative apparatus. This approach manifested itself in schooling – the local officials made every effort to circumvent the current legislation and oppose the Ukrainian primary education system to the Polish one. The Ukrainians’ complicated condition was facilitated by the fact that the Utraquism was forced in secondary school and the struggle against the possibility of opening a Ukrainian university complemented the difficult picture for the Ukrainians, which was provided by the private educational institutions' establishment became the partial way out of the above-mentioned problem.

COVİD-19 PANDEMİSİ SÜRECİNDE ÖĞRETMEN VE EBEVEYN GÖZÜNDEN “ÖZEL EĞİTİM”

Öz: Çalışma, bir anda küresel bir kriz haline gelen Covid-19 pandemisi sürecinde verilen özel eğitimin öğretmen ve ebeveyn görüşleri doğrultusunda incelenmesi amacıyla yapılmıştır. Araştırmada nitel araştırma çeşitlerinden tipik durum çalışması yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Araştırma kapsamında 2019-2020 eğitim öğretim yılı bahar döneminde Afyon/Karahisar il Millî Eğitim Müdürlüğü’ne bağlı özel eğitim kurumlarında görev yapan 14 özel eğitim öğretmeni ve 21 ebeveyn ile görüşme yapılmıştır. Çalışmada özel eğitim öğretmelerinin ve özel gereksinimi olan çocukların ebeveynlerinin pandemi sürecinde verilen eğitime ilişki görüşlerini incelenmek için yarı yapılandırılmış görüşmeler yapılmıştır. Veriler, Temmuz-Ağustos 2020 tarihleri arasında, öğretmen ve ebeveynlerin uygun olduğu zamanlarda telefon ile yapılan görüşmelerle toplanmıştır. Elde edilen verilerin analizinde içerik analiz tekniği kullanılmıştır. Çalışmadan elde edilen sonuçlar, pandemi sürecinde özel gereksinimi olan çocukların eğitimlerinin olumsuz etkilendiğini göstermektedir. Bu olumsuzlukları gidermek için öğretmen ve ebeveyn boyutunda yapılması gereken önemli müdahaleler bulunduğu söylenebilir.

APRENDIZAGENS DOCENTES MOBILIZADAS EM PROJETOS DESENVOLVIDOS NA RELAÇÃO UNIVERSIDADE E ESCOLA

The objective of this article is to identify teaching learning that were mobilized by the development of projects from partnerships between university and school. Therefore, a qualitative meta-synthesis was conducted based on the analysis of ten final reports prepared by PIBID grantees from a private educational institution that promoted, with their own resources, such projects. The analysis is based on the perspective of Situated Learning Theory, which indicates that all activity (including learning) is situated in the relationships between people, contexts and practices. The analysis of the reports had enabled the characterization of learning, through three categories: teaching strategies/methodologies, didactic resources and classroom management. The data indicate that those projects enabled immersion in the school context, reflection, planning, implementation and evaluation of pedagogical intervention proposals. We conclude by emphasizing about the importance of projects that conceive school as a privileged locus of teacher education and it points out the consolidation of partnerships between universities and schools as possible paths for understanding and expanding the debate on issues involving Theory and Practice in Teacher Education.
