Structured expert elicitation on disinformation, misinformation, and malign influence: Barriers, strategies, and opportunities

We used a modified Delphi method to elicit and synthesize experts’ views on disinformation, misinformation, and malign influence (DMMI). In a three-part process, experts first independently generated a range of effective strategies for combatting DMMI, identified the most impactful barriers to combatting DMMI, and proposed areas for future research. In the second stage, experts deliberated over the results of the first stage and in the final stage, experts rated and ranked the strategies, barriers, and opportunities for future research. Research into intervention effectiveness was a strategy that received the highest level of agreement, while robust platform regulation was deemed the strategy of highest priority to address. They also identified distrust in institutions, biases, political divisions, relative inattention to non-English-language DMMI, and politicians’ use of DMMI as major barriers to combatting DMMI. Vulnerability to DMMI was chosen by experts as the top priority for future study. Experts also agreed with definitions of disinformation as deliberately false/misleading information and misinformation as unintentionally so.

Analisis Strategi Pengembangan Bisnis Menggunakan Bisnis Model Kanvas pada Industri Logistik: Studi PT XYZ

This research analyzes and formulates the business strategy of PT XYZ using the Business Model Canvas to enhance and innovate in the logistics industry. The focus of the study is to identify logistics challenges, analyze the business model, develop business strategies, and provide policy recommendations to improve PT XYZ's competitiveness and operational efficiency. This research incorporates SWOT, PESTLE, and Porter’s Five Forces analyses in evaluating the nine building blocks of the Business Model Canvas. As a result, 26 strategies were developed, consisting of 9 SO strategies, 4 ST strategies, 6 WO strategies, and 6 WT strategies. Through focus group discussions and member checks, 9 priority strategies were identified and categorized into three approaches: short-term, medium-term, and long-term. The short-term strategies include offering competitive pricing packages, adopting innovative technology, and strengthening relationships with business partners. The medium-term strategies emphasize communication integration through social media and improving service quality. The long-term strategies focus on expanding the partner network and building innovative and sustainable partnerships. The implementation of the nine building blocks in the Business Model Canvas demonstrates PT XYZ's comprehensive adaptation to market dynamics and operational challenges, with the ultimate goal of strengthening its market position and supporting the company's sustainable growth.

Spatial variability of hydraulic traits in the root vessels of perennial herbs on the Loess Plateau of China

Plant hydraulic traits mediate water transport, photosynthesis, as well as their adaptability to drought. Studies into the adaptations of xylem hydraulics in response to environmental changes typically focused on trees and shrubs, with scarce attention given to perennial herbs. For this study, we analyzed the spatial variabilities of 9 hydraulic traits in the root vessels (root vessel traits) across species on the Loess Plateau of China. Our findings revealed that precipitation gradient, rather than temperature and elevation gradient, determined the spatial variability of the most root vessel traits. Vessel fraction, vessel area, water transfer efficiency, and hydraulic diameter increased significantly with decreases in the mean annual precipitation. The results emphasized that perennial herbs exhibited hydraulic conduction efficiency priority strategies to augment water absorption under water deficits. This was in contrast to the hydraulic safety strategies of woody trees in response to drought. In light of these findings, we recommend that priority should be given to perennial herbs in water-limited regions for current and future ecological restoration programs. The selection of the most appropriate perennial herbs for distinct sites should be further elucidated as a standard procedure in ecological restoration practice.

A Shortest Distance Priority UAV Path Planning Algorithm for Precision Agriculture.

Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have made significant advances in autonomous sensing, particularly in the field of precision agriculture. Effective path planning is critical for autonomous navigation in large orchards to ensure that UAVs are able to recognize the optimal route between the start and end points. When UAVs perform tasks such as crop protection, monitoring, and data collection in orchard environments, they must be able to adapt to dynamic conditions. To address these challenges, this study proposes an enhanced Q-learning algorithm designed to optimize UAV path planning by combining static and dynamic obstacle avoidance features. A shortest distance priority (SDP) strategy is integrated into the learning process to minimize the distance the UAV must travel to reach the target. In addition, the root mean square propagation (RMSP) method is used to dynamically adjust the learning rate according to gradient changes, which accelerates the learning process and improves path planning efficiency. In this study, firstly, the proposed method was compared with state-of-the-art path planning techniques (including A-star, Dijkstra, and traditional Q-learning) in terms of learning time and path length through a grid-based 2D simulation environment. The results showed that the proposed method significantly improved performance compared to existing methods. In addition, 3D simulation experiments were conducted in the AirSim virtual environment. Due to the complexity of the 3D state, a deep neural network was used to calculate the Q-value based on the proposed algorithm. The results indicate that the proposed method can achieve the shortest path planning and obstacle avoidance operations in an orchard 3D simulation environment. Therefore, drones equipped with this algorithm are expected to make outstanding contributions to the development of precision agriculture through intelligent navigation and obstacle avoidance.

Strategies for Handling Delays in Building Projects (Private) during the Construction Period in Badung Regency

Delay in construction projects is the inaccuracy of completion time in each activity or overall project activity that exceeds the time limit in the contract document.From the results of observations and interviews with several contractors who carry out building construction work, especially privately owned in Badung Regency, where the results show that there are still many projects that experience delays in implementation. This study aims to analyze what factors are dominant in causing delays and provide an overview of strategies for handling project delays during the construction period.Data collection using a questionnaire survey method. The research population was 16 building construction projects that were under construction in Badung Regency starting from 2022 - 2023 with 64 respondents. The data analysis method used is the Relative Importance Index (RII) method and hierarchical clustering in analyzing the dominant factors causing delays then focus group discussion (FGD) is used to help collect and provide information in discussions for the formulation of SWOT analysis. The priority strategy recommended for the project delay handling strategy is the WT strategy which explains the position of the defensive strategy in minimizing internal weaknesses and external threats so that the contractor as the project manager must be able to minimize existing weaknesses in the project and overcome threats in project implementation. What Is Needed to Determine and Potentially Improve the Clinical Effectiveness and Cost-Effectiveness of Robot-Assisted Reconstructive Urinary Tract and Pelvic Floor Surgery?-ICI-RS 2024.

Robot-assisted (RA) surgery has many advantages for urinary tract and pelvic floor reconstruction (UTPFR) but its application is only slowly increasing. Studies are limited in number, patients and follow-up duration. The low-volume high-complexity nature of UTPFR warrants specific research to evaluate the potential role of the RA approach. During its 2024 meeting in Bristol, the International Consultation on Incontinence-Research Society (ICI-RS) reviewed the current literature on RA UTPFR. Priority research questions and strategies were explored in a proposal. Four different topics were discussed. (1) Large multicentre prospective studies on RA UTPFR are needed to evaluate clinical effectiveness and safety. The RA approach needs to be prioritized in specific procedures and patients, to first improve patient care where gains are highest. (2) Models for cost-utility analysis for RA UTPFR are needed to (re)direct limited resources as efficiently as possible in a quickly changing technological field. (3) A modular curriculum for training UTPFR surgeons to become RA certified needs to be developed, to allow valid interpretation and comparison of outcomes. (4) Technological improvements to address tissue handling, accessibility, efficiency and sustainability are needed. Digitalization can be a gamechanger for RA UTPFR through telesurgery (training and expertize coverage), augmented reality and artificial intelligence providing intra-operative assistance, assessment and feedback. The proposal discussed the need for studies on clinical and cost effectiveness, safety, and training curriculum development for RA UTPFR. Recent technological developments hold great promise for RA UTPFR. High-priority research questions were identified.

Organizational learning and boundary spanners’ agility in the financial inclusion in Indonesia

This study examines the influence of organizational learning and boundary spanner agility in the bank agent business of Indonesia’s financial inclusion. This study is based on quantitative studies of 325 bank agents in Indonesia. The results of this research strongly show that organizational learning has a significant impact on boundary spanners’ agility to achieve both financial and non-financial performance. This study presents a novel finding that organization learning with a commitment to apply and encourage learning activities and agility with improved responsiveness and resilience boundary spanners can achieve bank agent performance. Organizational learning of bank agents needs to improve commitment to apply and encourage learning activities, always be open to new ideas, and create shared vision and knowledge transfer mechanisms. Organizational agility in bank agents need also to improve the capability to be more responsive and adaptable to culture changes in a volatile environment. This research provides valuable insights to policymakers, banking supervisors, bank top management teams, and researchers on the factors that may improve the effectiveness of the agency banking business to promote financial inclusion. Participating banks in the agent banking business need to set a clear vision, scope, and priority of strategy to encourage organizational learning and agility.

Implementing LGBTQ-affirmative cognitive-behavioral therapy: implementation strategies across five clinical trials.

LGBTQ-affirmative cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based treatment for reducing transdiagnostic mental and behavioral health concerns among LGBTQ individuals. Preserving the effects of this intervention as it is translated into practice can maximize public health benefits. This study systematically identifies and evaluates implementation strategies for LGBTQ-affirmative CBT. First, we identified and operationalized implementation strategies used across five trials of LGBTQ-affirmative CBT using the Pragmatic Implementation Reporting Tool. Second, we evaluated the relative importance of these strategies via a quantitative assessment (N = 31 unique trial implementers). Survey responses were analyzed descriptively within each trial. Across all trials, we organized strategies as (1) high priority, (2) moderate priority, and (3) optional (if resources are available) for implementing LGBTQ-affirmative CBT. Within each trial, we identified 20 or more implementation strategies that were used, many of which overlapped across trials. We identified nine high priority strategies (e.g., working with clients to engage them in LGBTQ-affirmative CBT), nine moderate priority strategies (e.g., conducting ongoing training in LGBTQ-affirmative CBT), and nine optional/resource dependent strategies (e.g., showing visual indicators of LGBTQ affirmation within the physical spaces where LGBTQ-affirmative CBT is delivered). LGBTQ-affirmative CBT is a complex intervention requiring a package of implementation strategies. Our findings provide guidance for implementers in settings with different levels of resources regarding the highest priority strategies that may be needed to preserve the effectiveness of LGBTQ-affirmative CBT as it is translated into real-world settings.

Evaluating priority strategies for decarbonising offshore wind turbine blades through lifecycle assessment

Abstract While offshore wind is at the early stage of expansion, global capacity is expected to increase rapidly, reaching 330 GW by 2031. This work uses lifecycle assessment (LCA) to evaluate the opportunity for offshore wind energy decarbonisation through wind blade sustainable developments. The findings from the LCA are used to give informed recommendations towards priority areas of development across the blade lifecycle, that are critical to accelerate the sector’s transition towards net-zero targets. The production of raw materials was found to be the largest contributor to cradle-to-gave global warming potential (GWP). The sector should prioritise the utilisation of more sustainable materials, with an emphasis on the decarbonisation of carbon fibre production. Waste produced during blade manufacturing alone accounts for 10% of the blade’s GWP; therefore, increasing the material efficiency in this phase of the lifecycle is a significant opportunity for blade decarbonisation and should be a focus for the sector going forward. O&M was found to be the second largest contributor to GWP, with full decarbonisation of O&M practices potentially realising an 8% reduction in GWP. A range of alterative blade material scenarios were analysed, finding that recyclable resin systems have the greatest potential to decarbonise offshore blades. There are currently no commercial recycling operations for these resins therefore scale up of the recycling technologies is needed before they can be recycled in practice. Additionally, the development of low impact, economically viable circular solutions for legacy blade waste must be an immediate priority for the wind energy sector, given the anticipated exponential growth in global wind turbine blade waste generation. Ledre Super is a brand of traditional snacks typical of Bojonegoro Regency located in Padangan District Bojonegoro. Over time, many new ledre businesses have sprung up, and in today's modern era, many modern snacks have also sprung up, which can shift public interest and consumption. This study analyze the internal and external factors and the right strategy to increase sales volume. The methods used in this research are SOAR and QSPM. The results of the research that was done using the IE matrix based on the IFE matrix were 3.184, and the EFE matrix was 3.301. The formulation of alternative strategies using the SOAR matrix results in a market development strategy, market penetration, product development, horizontal integration, and backward integration, while the priority strategy is horizontal. Balancing economic and environmental strategies in regional hinterland transport: a dynamic network cross efficiency analysis

Regional seaport hinterland transport network development strategies aim to maximize economic benefits while simultaneously mitigating environmental impacts. Tracking hinterland transport’s environmental efficiency is crucial for monitoring and improving sustainable transport policies in regional seaports. Previous research mainly employs static self-assessment models under a single objective, overlooking multi-modal hinterland transport routes. This study introduces network cross-efficiency data envelopment analysis models to assess the efficiency of regional seaport hinterland transport, balancing economic and environmental strategies. We further employ the cross-efficiency global Malmquist productivity index to examine dynamic changes and emission reduction potential. We find that hub seaports advance faster than smaller seaports. Road-rail transport constantly showcases high efficiency. Hinterland transport’s efficiencies under environment priority strategy show a weak positive correlation with balanced strategy, and a moderate negative correlation with economy priority strategy. Efficiency improvements in road and road-rail transport can be achieved through enhanced management, while technological innovation is key for road-inland waterway transport. The models and outcomes provide valuable insights for developing sustainable inland transport policies balancing economic growth and emission reduction in regional seaports.

A neuro decision-making approach for prioritizing circular economy criteria in sustainable smart cities

Sustainable cities are crucial in establishing effective waste management systems and minimizing environmental pollution. For cities to be sustainable, different aspects need to be considered, such as technological development, clean energy usage, and energy efficiency. However, taking the most important actions is essential because of the very high cost that will arise, and this situation causes countries to have budget deficit problems. In other words, there is a significant need for a new study that makes a priority analysis with respect to the circular economy-based criteria for smart cities. Accordingly, this study aims to identify significant factors to improve sustainable cities using a novel decision-making model. First, essential determinants of the smart cities were evaluated with the decision-making trial and evaluation laboratory (DEMATEL) technique based on quantum spherical fuzzy sets (QASH) and facial expressions of the decision-makers. Second, smart investment choices for sustainable cities were ranked according to the technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS) approach. In addition, comparative ranking results were constructed together with sensitivity analysis. The ranking results of the extended VIseKriterijumska Optimizacija I Kompromisno Resenje (VIKOR) are compared with the extended TOPSIS results and their sensitivity analysis results. The main contribution of this study is that appropriate priority strategies were determined by using an original methodology to have sustainable cities. A new methodology is developed in this study by the name of neuro decision-making. According to the comparative evaluation and sensitivity analysis, the findings are found as reliable and relevant. Resource efficiency is the most critical factor in improving sustainable cities. Constructing sustainable buildings is the most appropriate strategy for increasing smart cities. Necessary actions should be taken to minimize unconscious water and energy use. New technological developments need to be quickly adapted to businesses. In this way, it would be possible to perform the same work amount using less energy and water. For this purpose, it is important both to provide the necessary training and to emphasize the importance of these issues in television advertisements.

National celebrations in representations of Chisinau urbanites

Social cohesion is one of the priority strategies of the modern state, which requires development of a supra-ethnic civic identity. National holidays performs a role of a certain marker of civic participation, civil identity. The article analyzes the empirical material that allows us to outline the trends in the perception of Chisinau urbanites of the two main national holidays – Independence Day of the Republic of Moldova and Our Language Day (Limba noastră). The results showed a lack of a coherent attitude towards these holidays due to the contradictory nature of their basic message. The majority of respondents perceive them as simple days off. The rest distinguish between their meaning and format of performance. According to the respondents, the semantic content, in their opinion, very rarely corresponds to the declared one; they more often speak about the formal nature of the holidays. As for the format of the event, the positive aspects are the handicraft fair and the opportunity to spend some interesting time in the city center. Among the negative ones are large crowds of people and noise. This contradictory perception of national holidays may characterize young states with a short political history and the cumulative complexity of the transition period. Nevertheless, the development of civil identity requires presence of shared and integrative narratives about the past and the future of the country and a common identity construct to be reflected in celebration protocols.

Strengthening the pain care ecosystem to support equitable, person-centered, high-value musculoskeletal pain care

Abstract Improving health and wellbeing outcomes for people experiencing chronic musculoskeletal pain requires collective efforts across multiple levels of a healthcare ecosystem. System-wide barriers to care equity must however be addressed (eg, lack of co-designed services; overuse of low value care/underuse of high value care; inadequate health workforce; inappropriate funding models; inequitable access to medicines and technologies; inadequate research and innovation). In this narrative review, utilizing a systems’ thinking framework, we synthesize novel insights on chronic musculoskeletal pain research contextualized through the lens of this complex, interconnected system, the “pain care ecosystem.” We examine the application of systems strengthening research to build capacity across this ecosystem to support equitable person-centred care and healthy ageing across the lifespan. This dynamic ecosystem is characterized by three interconnected levels. At its centre is the person experiencing chronic musculoskeletal pain (micro-level). This level is connected with health services and health workforce operating to co-design and deliver person-centred care (meso-level), underpinned further upstream by contemporary health and social care systems (macro-level context). We provide emerging evidence for how we, and others, are working towards building ecosystem resilience to support quality musculoskeletal pain care: at the macro-level (eg, informing musculoskeletal policy and health strategy priorities); at the meso-level (eg, service co-design across care settings; health workforce capacity); and downstream, at the micro-level (eg, person-centred care). We outline the mechanisms and methodologies utilized and explain the outcomes, insights and impact of this research, supported by real world examples extending from Australian to global settings.

PREDICTING THE POTENTIAL DISTRIBUTION OF Pinus cernua L.K. PHAN EX AVER., K.S. NGUYEN AND T.H. NGUYEN, A CRITICALLY ENDANGERED CONIFER SPECIES

Pinus cernua L.K. Phan ex Aver., K.S. Nguyen and T.H. Nguyen (Pinaceae) is a critically endangered species restricted to the Laos - Vietnam border. The population of this species has been declining due to habitat loss and forest fire. Predicting the potential distribution of the species is an important priority for conservation plans and strategies. In this study, a MaxEnt model was used for predicting the potential distribution of P. cernua using 21 occurrence data and 13 environmental variables. Precipitation of driest month (with 32.3% of contribution), annual mean diurnal range (23.4%), elevation (18.4%), and aspect (12.3%) are crucial factors for predicting the species’ potential distribution in the MaxEnt model, while remaining factors are less important factors. The suitable distribution was predicted in the north-western region of Vietnam and the adjacent regions of Son La and Thanh Hoa provinces (Vietnam) and Houaphan province (Laos) with 1,544 km2 in total. The high, medium, and low suitability areas are 159 km2 (10%), 475 km2 (31%), and 910 km2 (59%), respectively. The current protected areas do not contain many of the possible habitats for this species. Priority should be given to conservation efforts for species in these potentially suitable locations both in- and outside of current protected areas, particularly in the surrounding area of Vietnam and Laos.

LCA standards for environmental product assessments in the bioeconomy with a focus on biogenic carbon: A systematic review

Abstract Purpose Climate change mitigation is one of the priorities of the European Bioeconomy Strategy (BES). In this regard, renewable raw materials are a crucial resource, as they help to substitute fossil resources and reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by storing biogenic carbon (C). To control the environmental impact of the European BES, the life cycle assessment (LCA) is the preferred method. Standards provide guidance for LCA. This review aims to present the state of the art of LCA-related standards, focusing on the assessment of biogenic C and its global warming potential (GWP) to evaluate them for decision-making with regard to the transition to a bioeconomy (BE) and climate change mitigation. Methods A systematic review is conducted using the database Nautos to reveal the relevant standards guiding LCA in the BE. In an iterative process, criteria for a comparative analysis are defined. The eligible standards are then qualitatively analysed and compared based on criteria previously derived in the iterative process. Results and discussion In the context of LCA and bio-based products, 13 documents are identified. Differences are revealed in the accounting of biogenic C flows, the calculation of the duration of biogenic C storage and the biogenic C content as well as the consideration of substitution effects. Furthermore, the standards do not provide any information on the assessment of biogenic C in the circular economy so far. Conclusion The importance of biogenic C aspects in LCA has been reflected in the standards over the last 20 years. However, further research is needed to harmonise the different aspects and integrate new relevant ones related to biogenic C and BE to support decision-making for the transition to a BE. This becomes more important as new legislation refers to LCA standards as the preferred assessment method.

The needs and prioritization of nutrition and dietary support for individuals with disabilities: an exploratory study

Objectives: Based on a survey of officers, social workers, and dietitians involved in managing nutrition and welfare policies or projects for vulnerable groups in local governments or private welfare institutions, this study aimed to assess the need for nutritional and dietary support policies and programs for persons with disabilities (PWD), as well as to identify appropriate support measures. Methods: An online survey was conducted from March 2 to 15, 2021. The survey included 20 questions exploring perspectives on the nutritional status of PWD, their need for nutritional and dietary support policies and programs, and the prioritization of appropriate support measures. A total of 132 responses were analyzed. Results: Approximately 68.9% of the respondents rated the nutritional status of PWD as “bad” or “very bad.” A substantial number identified “difficulty in purchasing ingredients, cooking, and preparing meals independently due to disability,” and “limited knowledge about nutrition and recipes necessary for maintaining a healthy and balanced diet” as the primary challenges in the dietary and nutritional management of this population. Additionally, 97.0% of the respondents deemed that the introduction of nutritional and dietary support policies and programs for PWD was “needed” or “very much needed.” Priority strategies to implement and strengthen these policies and systems included the “development of customized programs and services tailored to the needs and demands of the target population” and the “establishment of a dedicated department with specialized personnel.” Conclusion: Comprehensive nutritional and dietary support policies and programs should be actively implemented to ensure a healthy and stable diet for PWD, tailored to meet their actual needs and demands.

Digital Leadership and Professional Commitment to Enhance Teacher Innovativeness as a Priority Strategy

This research aimed to determine priority strategies for increasing teacher innovativeness in the digital era from digital leadership and professional commitment perspectives. The research employed a mixed methods research approach with four stages: theme exploration, model design, data collection, and analysis/product creation. The study population was teachers in Indonesia, and the sample comprised 623 teachers. The study results show that the priority strategy to increase the innovativeness of teachers is divided into two perspectives: digital leadership and professional commitment. Priority strategies from a digital leadership perspective are as follows: digital competitive and intelligent capabilities, digital communication skills, strengthening digital resilience, the ability of educational innovativeness, and monitoring school performance digitally. Priority strategies from a professional commitment perspective are as follows: involvement in the decision-making process, abilities in evaluation and reflection, improving self-competence, ability to prepare to overcome educational challenges, and teacher discipline in their duties. The results imply that academic institutions need to strengthen digital leadership and professional commitment to promote the innovativeness of teachers in the digital era.

Gender Differences in Years of Life Lost resulting from the 2015 Gorkha Earthquake in Nepal

Abstract Background Nepal has a history of regular natural hazards, including significant earthquakes and floods. Previous studies have shown that females, particularly younger females, are more likely to die due to disasters compared to males. This study aimed to explore gender differences in mortality - measured in Years of Life Lost (YLL) - caused by the 2015 Gorkha earthquake across 41 districts of Nepal. Methods Mortality counts were derived from the Nepal Police Report. YLL was estimated by multiplying mortality counts (stratified by age, gender, and district) by age-conditional life expectancy from the 2019 Global Burden of Disease reference life table. Both absolute numbers and rates of YLL per 100,000 population were calculated. YLL per deaths, stratified by age-gender-and-location, were estimated and compared. Male-to-female YLL rate ratios were estimated as well, and compared across districts. Results The 2015 Gorkha earthquake resulted in 8,950 deaths (females: 56.1% versus males: 43.9%), accounting for 526,617 YLL. Males had a slightly higher number of YLL per death (59.2) compared to females (58.5); this is mainly due to the different number of deaths between males and females. YLL per deaths ranged from 65.4 (Rautahat district) to 0 (in several districts) among males and, from 65.3 (Rautahat district) to 0 (in several districts) among females. The YLL rate per 100,000 population was higher for females (3,158 per 100,000) than for males (2,575 per 100,000). Approximately 40% of the districts had male-to-female YLL rate ratios of less than one, which can be partly explained by the gender distribution of the population at rik of dying due to earthquake. Conclusions The study found relatively higher YLL per death for males and higher YLL rates for females. This underscores the necessity to further investigate the factors that contribute to fatalities from earthquakes, especially in lower middle income countries such as Nepal. Key messages • Gender disparities in mortality following the 2015 Gorkha earthquake in Nepal were addressed using Years of Life Lost (YLLs); males had higher YLL per death, while females had higher YLL rates. • Exploring the factors that contribute to earthquake-related fatalities should be a priority for disaster mitigation strategies.
