The article demonstrates the way of formation of N. Y. Danilevsky’s civilizational concept, which coincides with the concepts of modern ecology. The scientist proved the applicability of logical theories in the study of biological and cultural-social factors, consistent primarily with the principle of plurality of stable ecosystem conditions [28, 29, 31]. The article uses the methods of historicism, the principles of scientific objectivity and consistency, which allow us to consider the life and views of Danilevsky as a whole, with an analysis of the facts in their entirety and interrelationship. The study was conducted on the basis of a theoretical foundation created by the published works of N. Y. Danilevsky, personal documents, memoir literature, as well as the works of public figures of the 40-80’s of the XIX century, allowing to assess the controversy regarding the major work of the thinker «Russia and Europe», which occupies a huge place in his creative heritage.
