ASEAN SOCIAL COHESION DEVELOPMENT: TOWARD STRENGTHENING REGIONAL SECURITY

This paper analyzes the principle of social cohesion for ASEAN countries. In the context of social cohesion model, ASEAN members should strive to preserve their strong relations in spite of their diverse backgrounds. Only by understanding and accepting individual differences can ASEAN move forward with the pursuit of its development agenda without being seen as one with only the soft power by its peers. As such, this paper argues that social cohesion has the potential to be made as the foundation for ASEAN development and expansion in the future. Looking at the uncertainties of global economy and politics, ASEAN should be well-equipped and well-prepared to embrace the world’s many unpredictability of sort. With ASEAN continuing to go strong and steadfast with its neutrality principle, ASEAN is more than able to further consolidate its unity as a whole, which is paramount to secure the regional security. The member countries’ heterogeneous and varied backgrounds notwithstanding, not only a strong and cogent ASEAN will be more understanding of each other, it will only help buttress and bolster the sovereignty of its member countries. As such, this qualitative paper deliberates on and provides the framework of the social cohesion for a strong ASEAN country so important to face the challenges of global politics.

RESILIENCE OF THE SOCIO-ECONOMIC SYSTEM: STRATEGY AND TACTICS FOR MINIMIZING INEQUALITIES IN UKRAINIAN SOCIETY

The article is devoted to identifying the directions of state policy aimed at ensuring social sustainability and the challenges associated with the growing processes of inequality in the context of war. The authors revealed the substantive components of the concept of social sustainability, which is a systemic synergistic characteristic of adaptability, stress resistance, and flexibility of the social and labor sphere. The comparative analysis allowed to confirm the deepening of inequality processes in Ukrainian society in the context of a prolonged war and to prove that the solution to the problem of inequality lies in ensuring the social stability of the labor market, eliminating discrimination, and preventing exclusion from the labor market. The generalized threats to social sustainability allowed the authors to substantiate the institutional direction of ensuring the social sustainability of Ukrainian society, which includes the post-war renewal of the social contract based on the basic principles of social justice, cohesion, complementarity, social quality and inclusiveness.

The Argument of the Matrix Verb Seems in Spec T: The Raised DP or the Given DP

Generative linguists claim that the argument of the matrix verb as in Mary seemed to be innocent is the DP (determine phrase), which is the raised argument of the to-infinitive clause being raised to be landed in the Spec T. However, the current study argues that the DP argument as the subject of the matrix verb seems to be the given DP and this is supported by functional linguistics. The argument in this study is statistically supported by the empirical evidence of international applied linguistic research articles. The data collection was English for Specific Purposes (ESP), which were indexed in the Q1 SCOPUS database. A total number of approximately 250,000 words was derived from 25 applied linguistics research articles, which contained 47 tokens concerning the argument with the matrix verb seem. The data analysis was divided into the framework of syntactic analysis and the quantitative study of inferential statistical analysis. The framework of syntactic analysis follows functional linguistics called the pragmatic discourse of givenness. The statistical analysis in this study was Pearson Correlation in SPSS29. The results showed that there was a statistically significant relationship between the given DP of the matrix verb seem and applied linguistic research articles. The p-value was reported at 0.044. Thus, the hypothesis in this study was accepted. The discussion follows the principle of cohesion and fixed colligations. It is recommended that the hypothesis in this study be tested by other English materials, such as novels and business documents, to contribute to the field.

Criminal Fines and Customary Justice in Papua: Socio-Legal Analysis in Child Sexual Intercourse Cases

This study aims to analyze the formulation and application of criminal fines for child sexual intercourse within Papuan Indigenous society. Utilizing a socio-juridical or empirical legal research method, the study examines criminal sanctions, particularly fines, in cases involving child sexual intercourse. Data collected from primary, secondary, and tertiary sources are analyzed qualitatively to draw legal conclusions. The research highlights that customary law, recognized under the 1945 Constitution of Indonesia, plays an essential role in the legal culture of Indigenous communities, including those in Papua. Customary courts, as established by Law Number 21 of 2001 concerning Special Autonomy for Papua Province, are recognized within specific customary law communities. These courts operate based on the respective community's customary law, with provisions allowing for judicial review in formal courts if a party disagrees with the customary Court's ruling. Regarding fines as a criminal sanction, determining the appropriate amount often complicates the resolution of cases. The system is rooted in communal values emphasizing collective rather than individual justice, reflecting principles of kinship, religious beliefs, and societal cohesion in decision-making.

Cohesion Model and Scenario Simulation for Risk Prevention of “Blockchain + Agriculture Crowdfunding” from the Synergistic Perspective

Aiming at the problems such as scattered subjects, static mode and single function, this paper explores a dynamic synergistic risk prevention mode of agricultural crowdfunding that adapts to the age of data intelligence. Based on multiple prevention subjects, the blockchain technology and cohesion principle are introduced into agricultural crowdfunding prevention, and then a risk prevention dynamic model of “blockchain + agricultural crowdfunding” is constructed from the synergistic perspective. Fuzzy cognitive map model and its reasoning mechanism are used to simulate four scenarios of 1-subject, 2-subjects, 3-subjects, and 4-subjects respectively in the dynamic model and the static model. The results show that: as the number of risk prevention subjects increases, so does the cohesion, and the cohesion of multi-subjects reaches a higher state in less time and the steady-state faster, even though the fluctuation range reduces. The risk value for the multi-agent reduces rapidly and reaches a lower risk value in a shorter period of time. Overall, cohesion increases while risk reduces. In the same scenario, dynamic mode cohesion is stronger than static mode cohesion, and it takes less time to attain the steady-state value. Under various scenarios, the dynamic model’s cohesiveness steady-state value increases with the number of subjects, which is stronger than the static model’s. This study not only enriches and develops the theory of risk management of agricultural crowdfunding, but also provides a decision-making basis for the enterprises and the government, etc., to formulate, adjust, and implement risk prevention measures.

Smart leadership, as articulated in this article, embodies a holistic and forward-looking approach that prioritizes the well-being and inclusion of residents as a primary concern. In line with this approach, technological innovation is harmoniously embodied alongside an unwavering commitment to social justice, sustainability, and long-term planning, enabling cities that are not only technologically advanced, but also more sustainable, equitable and enriched for all residents. Central to this visionary leadership is a profound recognition of equality and representation in city governance. The principles of inclusive leadership require a leadership structure that reflects the diversity of the population, ensuring that the voices of all communities are integral to decision-making processes. Smart leaders actively advocate for the problems and aspirations of each segment of society, promoting a sense of belonging and empowerment among residents, thereby strengthening the city’s commitment to the principles of social cohesion and equal opportunities. In addition, sound leadership recognizes the key challenge of the digital divide, which can exacerbate disparities in urban landscapes. This article highlights the fundamental importance of digital access in ensuring all residents’ full participation in modern society, economics, and governance. Smart leaders introduce policies and initiatives to bridge the digital divide and ensure equal access to digital tools and information for every resident, regardless of socioeconomic background. This proactive approach promotes digital inclusion and lays the foundation for seamless smart technology integration in the city, ultimately improving its residents’ overall quality of life. Through a systematic analysis of articles, this inquiry observes the metamorphosis of cities into centers of advanced technological implementation and economic dynamism. The article proposes the author’s Smart City Leadership Activity Model, which contains several key principles of smart leadership in the context of equitable, sensible, and strategic smart city growth, development, and innovation.

Migrant and refugee communities strengthening disaster resilience

This paper presents insights from a community-led initiative in South Australia aimed at enhancing disaster resilience in culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) migrant and refugee communities. Anchored in the principles of community cohesion, empowerment and informed action, the project addresses socio-cultural dynamics and communication barriers. A series of workshops and forums, tailored to account for cultural sensitivity, showed strengthened community collaboration, skills development and increased awareness of the psychosocial effects of disasters, prompting proactive strategies that consider the unique vulnerabilities and strengths of CALD communities. Participant testimonials noted increased community spirit and practical application of acquired knowledge, including understanding local hazard risk profiles and trust-building with emergency services organisations. The findings demonstrate the importance of mitigating access challenges, integrating diverse community perspectives into resilience- building activities and ensuring the inclusivity of management policies. Highlighting the significance of strengths-based community-driven approaches in emergency and disaster management, particularly for marginalised groups, this initiative found that engaging communities as active contributors enables more resilient and self-efficacious populations that effectively bridge cultural and linguistic gaps in preparedness.

A Social Europe without a Social Conscience

Abstract Founded on the underlying principles of equality, solidarity and cohesion, with economic growth envisioned as a vehicle to social well-being, Europe has emerged as a significant competitor in the global economy. Despite the subsidiarity principle, member states’ social protection systems are increasingly being driven by the European neoliberal agenda. Malta is no exception: its socialist welfare regime, based on strong government interventions and universal provision, has progressively given way to a more regulated, privatised and means-tested model. The globalisation–inequality–social protection nexus suggests that Malta’s high GDP growth and widening inequalities are not reflected in a reciprocal outlay in social protection expenditure. In a context where the social well-being of all is increasingly becoming subordinated to the economic well-being of the few, one questions to what extent the social model has remained a fundamental pillar of the EU and whether, through Europeanisation, Malta is concomitantly losing its social conscience.

Populist Authoritarianism and Catholic Political Ethics: A Framework for a Moral Review

Can there be an ethics of politics or political ethics in populist authoritarian democracies? Given that politics operates under potentially risky and morally ambiguous methods that involve strategic calculations with some elements of irrationality, developing an ethics of political leadership can be an abstruse exercise. The frequent mismatch between political methods, objectives, and outcomes exemplifies the complexity of political reality and its unpredictability. The existential tension between utilitarian and deontological approaches to ethics frequently arises in politics. However, to address the failures of democracy in political leadership, it is imperative to explore the ethical implications of populist authoritarianism. By scrutinizing how populist authoritarianism undermines democratic principles and polarizes societies, one can better understand its moral challenges and work towards developing a more ethical framework for political leadership. This article discusses Catholic political ethics in response to populist authoritarianism from three different perspectives: first, it analyzes what populist authoritarianism entails and its limitations in political governance; second, it discusses diverse components of political ethics, highlighting realistic dilemmas in the application of each component; and third, it makes an ethical evaluation of populist authoritarianism from the Catholic social ethics perspective, emphasizing human dignity, common good, and solidarity as key to countering populist authoritarianism. The article makes two ethical suggestions in line with Catholic political ethics to address populist authoritarianism. The first is the principle of social cohesion, aimed at addressing the social, ethnic, racial, political, economic, and religious divisions that characterize populist authoritarian leadership. The second is the principle of social recognition, used as a strategy for safeguarding the common good by centralizing human dignity.

Natural selection and evolution: evolving concepts.

Many recent studies in evolutionary biology have expanded and refined definitions of biological evolution and natural selection. Current evolutionary models incorporate different adaptive and non-adaptive processes based on molecular genetic changes and how DNA is modified over time in unicellular species, or in germline versus somatic cells in metazoan species. Cogent arguments can be raised for the view that natural selection should be considered a biological law, consistent with quantitative mathematical equations that describe the fitness of individuals, as well as variations within and among populations. Evolution is an overarching framework that incorporates the laws of natural selection and clarifies why phenotypic variation can increase in prevalence and result in species adaptations. The conceptual framework for biological evolution incorporates many cohesive principles that collectively have a predictive value. This framework will continue to evolve with improvements in high-resolution technologies that enable us to examine both adaptive and non-adaptive changes that drive biological phenotypes.

The Ginsburg–Sands theorem and computability theory

The Ginsburg–Sands theorem from topology states that every infinite topological space has an infinite subspace homeomorphic to exactly one of the following five topologies on ω: indiscrete, discrete, initial segment, final segment, and cofinite. The original proof is nonconstructive, and features an interesting application of Ramsey's theorem for pairs (RT22). We analyze this principle in computability theory and reverse mathematics, using Dorais's formalization of CSC spaces. Among our results are that the Ginsburg–Sands theorem for CSC spaces is equivalent to ACA0, while for Hausdorff spaces it is provable in RCA0. Furthermore, if we enrich a CSC space by adding the closure operator on points, then the Ginsburg–Sands theorem turns out to be equivalent to the chain/antichain principle (CAC). The most surprising case is that of the Ginsburg–Sands theorem restricted to T1 spaces. Here, we show that the principle lies strictly between ACA0 and RT22, yielding arguably the first natural theorem from outside logic to occupy this interval. As part of our analysis of the T1 case we introduce a new class of purely combinatorial principles below ACA0 and not implied by RT22 which form a hierarchy generalizing the stable Ramsey's theorem for pairs (SRT22). We show that one of these, the Σ20 subset principle (Σ20-Subset), has the property that it, together with the cohesive principle (COH), is equivalent over RCA0 to the Ginsburg–Sands theorem for T1 CSC spaces.

Integration of the Principles of Social Cohesion and Peaceful Coexistence in TVET Institutions: A Case of Kenya School of TVET

The purpose of this paper was to review TVET teachers’ employability and transferable skills, Occupational Standards and Curriculum to integrate principles of Social Cohesion and Peaceful coexistence in TVET institutions. This was in the context of the realization that social cohesion is an integral component of a stable TVET institution. The objective that guided the study was to tease out aspects of social cohesion and integrate them into the employability module to be used in TVET institutions in Kenya. The study adopted a participatory approach that engaged Kenya Technical trainers who were involved in the whole process in a bid to enhance their capacity in the curriculum development process. The target population was the KTTC trainers who taught the employability module. This study established that inclusion of social cohesion aspects into the curriculum had potential to produce a stable workforce that will bring about positive change into the society.The study also found that digitization of the employability curriculum assisted the Kenya School of TVET to deliver the course online thus attaining flexibility in the trainees learning.This study recommends that Kenya School of TVET retools all Technical and Vocational trainers in Kenya with a view to sensitize them on critical aspects of social cohesion among them inclusion which has the potential to transform the mindset of the trainers when dealing with trainees in their respective institutions.

Distributed control for flock navigation using nonlinear model predictive control

We present a novel approach that employs nonlinear model predictive control (NMPC) to address flock control while incorporating obstacle avoidance within a leader-follower framework. This strategy utilises each agent's predictive capabilities to navigate effectively. Building upon Reynolds' foundational flocking principles of cohesion, separation, and alignment, we adapt them to serve a navigation objective rather than focusing solely on formation tasks. In doing so, we introduce novel concepts that enhance our approach's robustness and flexibility. These concepts include the assessment of information credibility and significance received from neighbouring agents, along with the dynamic adjustment of trade-offs between reference values. We incorporate these features into our NMPC formulation and illustrate their advantages through numerical simulations and laboratory experiments.

Kharkiv Living Lab: from an open innovation ecosystem to a participatory system of food sustainability during wartime

Since its establishment, the main idea of the Kharkiv Living Lab has centered around the co-creation and dissemination of knowledge and innovative values related to children food. In the aftermath of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, the Kharkiv Children's Living Lab has been transformed to adapt to the exigencies of wartime, and the primary focus shifted towards ensuring food sustainability during the war. The Kharkiv Living Lab reformulated its key principles, prioritizing transnationality, reactivity, and volunteerism. The activities undertaken by the Kharkiv Living Lab during the war time constitute a distinctive and unprecedented experience of implementing a Living Lab during war time, illustrating how «locality» and «globality» are cooperating to tackle food-related challenges during the war, and how a new quality of social ties emerges among diverse local actors, thereby contributing to the strengthening of social cohesion in the face of profound adversity. The activities of the Kharkiv Living Lab are a unique, if not the first, experience of the implementation of the Living Lab during the war, which demonstrated how «locality» and «globality» cooperate in the context of food support tasks, and how a new quality of social ties is created between different by local actors, which strengthens social cohesion in difficult times of trial. In this context, the Kharkiv Living Lab is an example of building a small integration system based on the principles of social interaction and cohesion. After all, the main task of the Kharkiv Living Lab is the joint and mutual creation, distribution and exchange of knowledge, innovative values, established social practices regarding children's nutrition. The involvement of students of Kharkiv secondary education institutions, their parents, teaching staff and the administration made it possible to create an innovative and permanent platform for the exchange of knowledge with their further integration into a common «knowledge bank», which is formed and supported by a consortium of partners of the international research project FUSILLI, which is focused on building food stability.

Taḥlīl al-Khitāb al-Tamāsuk wa al-Tarābuṭ fi al-Kitāb Durūs al-Lugah al-Arabiyah a’lā al-Țarīqati al-Ḥadīśah al-Juz' al-Śānī lil Imām Zarkasyi wa Imām Syubāni

Discourse is a series of sentences or speech, namely the principle of cohesion which is the link between the different elements in a grammatical structure, then the principle of coherence, which is the relationship between the elements in a complete unit. This research focused on grammatical cohesion and coherence. The research methodology used is a library search. To obtain information and deepen theory, the researcher integrated content analysis research methods. The data collection method is the method of documenting any printed data. The method used for verification is credibility. The results of this study are. In the context of grammatical cohesion element there are three elements in the books of Durūs al-Lugah al-Arabiyah a’lā al-Țarīqati al-Ḥadīśah al-Juz' al-Śānī of Imam Zarakshi and Imam Shubani. First is the reference in two models, pronoun and demonstrative. There are fourteen pronouns and six demonstratives. The second is substitution. There are four substitutions in the book. The third is conjunction. There are four conjunctions, temporal conjunction, coordinating conjunction, correlative conjunction, and adversative conjunction. In the coherence context, there are ten elements, condition, sequential, method, deduction, time, explanation, cause and effect, addition, increase or affirmations, and resistance.

The Energy of Spaces: Uses of Tension ( Tonos ) in the Theology of the Late Antique East

ABSTRACT: In ancient Stoicism, tension ( tonos ) was a principle of psychosomatic unity, individual and collective cohesion, and a virtuous disposition. Orthodox theologians deployed the notion of weak tension to discredit theaters and stadia as spaces of transmission of listlessness and vice. At the same time, they applied the concept of tension to sanctify places of torture and imprisonment, as well as the religious edifices commemorating martyrdom. This article will assess both the emancipatory and repressive aspects of the theological discourse on tension in their philosophical and medical contexts. Works of Chrysostom, Gregory of Nazianzus, Basil of Caesarea, and Severus of Antioch will be examined in the light of hagiographic, epigraphic, and papyrological evidence.

Principles of regional self-government according to Council of Europe reference framework for regional democracy

The purpose of the article is to determine the general principles of regional self-government in accordance with the Framework recommendations of the Council of Europe on regional democracy. Ingenerak, this paper is intended to the content of Council of Europe Reference Framework for Regional Democracy, which in general form contains European standards of regional self-government, is examined. For a more complete presentation of the Reference Framework, the regulative acts of the Council of Europe relating to regional self-government were studied. The Reference Framework is presented as a means of transcending the scope of the European Charter of Local Self-Government in order to help governments strike the best possible balance in the apportionment of powers and responsibilities among different tiers of government. The Reference Framework is also analyzed on the basis of the principle of subsidiarity, the principle of social and territorial cohesion and the need for solidarity. The nature and principles of regional democracy are revealed. The characteristics of local and regional authorities which reflect the key principles of democracy and public participation in the management of living environments are examined. It is concluded that the essence of the principles of democracy constitute the combination of all principles and «rules for living» within a state. A comparison of the European standards of regional self-government with the regulatory practice of self-government functioning at the level of the regions of Ukraine has been carried out. The author’s vision on the introduction of regional self-government in Ukraine is presented.

Le temps d’une chanson : abord médiatisé de la blessure de guerre en thérapie de groupe

Post-traumatic stress disorders are a major concern for the armed forces. Certain pathognomonic symptoms of psychological trauma are expressed by isolation and avoidance behavior that are antithetical to the principle of group unity and cohesion that is so fundamental in the military. The Robert Picqué military hospital is located in the heart of a region where many operational regiments are stationed. For the past 20 years, the French army has been deployed in different countries at war, on foreign missions or OPEX (Afghanistan, Lybia, Mali) and interior operations or OPINT. The Robert Picqué psychiatric department has adapted its clinical activity to admit and treat the many soldiers who have been injured and has developed a multidisciplinary and integrative approach, which includes group therapy, to treat PTSD. In this context, the combination of two health professionals, one an occupational therapist and the other a psychomotor therapist, has resulted in the creation of an original therapeutic approach using musical and creative mediation in group activities. The benefits of therapeutic synergy help to build a framework for free expression and includes the use of songs and personal creative exercises using a variety of media. From the patients’ artistic creations, their drawings and writing, we can see how this double mediation favors social bonding and makes it possible to understand the personal, family, and professional repercussions of PTSD. Thus, the time of a song provides the patients with a space of relief, of security and the development of a collective elaboration of their suffering.

ОСОБЛИВОСТІ ВЕРБАЛІЗАЦІЇ ОКРЕМОГО ГУСТАТИВНОГО КОМПОНЕНТА В ХУДОЖНЬОМУ ТЕКСТІ

The article analyzes the peculiarities of the formation of lexical compounds with a component of synesthesia perception. The relevance of the intelligence is not disputed given that mental basis of the nomination cannot be narrowed to the interests of ethnolinguistics, as the nomination of qualitative categories reveals not only national specifics of the text, but must be considered through the prism of an individual cognition with its subjective and effective factors of world perception as a certain domain of the conceptual and linguistic view of the world of a particular ethnic group. The article emphasizes that the construction of lexical compounds with a component of taste (“sweet”) is based largely on a motivated secondary nomination, generated by the brainwork of an individual, who somehow absorbs into his language creativity basic definitions and concepts of his nation. It is proved that the loss of “gustativity” of lexical compounds with the component “sweet” is due to rethinking direct nomination by layering additional semantic nuances and associative series, resulting in new metaphorical combinations with a certain assessment of a particular phenomenon or fact, which most vividly express both the peculiarities of the national mentality and the specifics of the language personality. It is determined that synesthesia worldview contributes not only to the formation of non-standard ideas about the world around us, but also generates further in-depth interest of researchers from different fields of knowledge about the existence of the concept of “objective reality”; emphasizes the definition of facts, processes, actions, qualities and gives them an original qualitative feature; allows fine differentiation of human states; organizes unexpected principles of lexical cohesion of literary speech, which, in turn, certainly nourishes the language.
