A new species of azooxanthellate Scleractinia from the western Atlantic, and a new name and record of Desmophyllum striatum sensu Cairns, 1979

A new species of deep-water azooxanthellate scleractinian coral is described from the northwestern Atlantic, named Trochocyathus circularis. It is distinctive for its almost circular calice. A new name is proposed for the junior primary homonym Desmophyllum striatumCairns, 1979, which was preoccupied by the senior homonym, a Miocene fossil from Italy, described in 1871 by Sismonda in Sismonda & Michelotti.

Lamellodiscus (Monogenea: Diplectanidae) species parasitic on Japanese Acanthopagrus Peters, with proposals of L. chin n. sp. infecting A. sivicolus Akazaki and L. egusai nom. nov. for L. japonicus Ogawa & Egusa, 1978, a junior homonym of L. japonicus Pillai & Pillai, 1974

Lamellodiscus chin n. sp. (Monogenea: Diplectanidae) was described from Acanthopagrus sivicolus Akazaki (Perciformes: Sparidae) in Okinawa-jima Island, Ryukyu Islands based on morphological and molecular data. This new species resembles L. spari and L. elegans in morphologically but differs by its accessory piece curving and widening toward the tip. Three species of Lamellodiscus (L. japonicus Ogawa & Egusa, 1978, L. takitai Ogawa & Egusa, 1978, and L. spari Zhukov, 1970) were recorded from A. schlegelii (Bleeker), and L. japonicus was collected from A. latus (Houttuyn) in the Seto Inland Sea, Japan. I herein propose Lamellodiscus egusai nom. nov. for L. japonicus which is a junior primary homonym of L. japonicus Pillai & Pillai, 1974. Based on the type specimens and newly collected specimens from wild hosts, the type localities of L. japonicus (= L. egusai nom. nov.) and L. takitai are discussed. In addition, a list of nominal species of Japanese diplectanids is provided.

Nomenclatural and taxonomic notes on some species of Gyrinidae (Coleoptera)

Nomenclatural notes on the names of several species in the family Gyrinidae are provided. Six specific names are found to be junior homonyms. Three of them are replaced by nomina nova: Aulonogyrus marginatus (Aubé, 1838) by Aulonogyrus charlesaubei nom. nov., Gyrinus dubius Wallis, 1926 by Gyrinus suspectus nom. nov., and Macrogyrus (Andogyrus) colombicus australis (Brinck, 1977) by Macrogyrus (Andogyrus) colombicus brincki nom. nov. The other three junior homonyms were never considered congeneric with senior homonyms after the year 1899, and thus cannot not be replaced by new names: Gyretes dorsalis (Brullé, 1837), Macrogyrus australis (Brullé, 1835), and Andogyrus glaucus (Aubé, 1838); it is proposed that these names will be conserved by a ruling of the International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature. It is found that Enhydrus sulcatus (Forsberg, 1821) is a primary homonym and a junior subjective synonym of Enhydrus sulcatus (Wiedemann, 1821) in Wiedemann & Germar (1821). The neotype is designated for Gyrinus striatus Fabricius, 1792, which is a senior primary homonym and a senior subjective synonym of G. striatus Olivier, 1792 (both currently in Aulonogyrus Motschulsky, 1853). Gyrinus striatus was published by Olivier not only in 1792, but again in the year 1795 (so far treated as the correct publishing year). To stabilise the nomenclature, one and the same specimen is designated simultaneously as the neotype for Gyrinus striatus Olivier, 1792, and G. striatus Olivier, 1795, and thus both names become objective synonyms. Gyrinus ovatus Klug, 1829 is a senior subjective synonym of Gyrinus gibbus Aubé, 1838 syn. nov. and of Gyrinus apicalis Sharp, 1878 syn. nov. Gyrinus racenisi Ochs, 1953 must be used as the valid name for Gyrinus ovatus sensu Aubé (1838b) (nec Klug 1829). Lectotypes are designated for Gyrinus apicalis Sharp, 1878, Gyrinus gibbus Aubé, 1838, Gyrinus ovatus Klug, 1829, and Gyrinus paykulli Ochs, 1927b. Type specimens and diagnostic characters are illustrated for G. striatus Fabricius, G. striatus Olivier, G. ovatus Klug, G. racenisi and G. paykulli.

Eucinetus linskyi, a new replacement name for preoccupied Eucinetus bicolor Lawrence, 2019, non Reitter, 1887 (Insecta: Coleoptera: Eucinetidae).

The species name Eucinetus bicolor Lawrence was proposed by Lawrence (2019, p. 155) for a new coleopteran species from eastern Victoria, Australia. However, this name was already used for the Palaearctic Eucinetus bicolor Reitter (1887, p. 514), currently combined as Nycteus bicolor (Reitter, 1887), and thus the names are primary homonyms according to ICZN Articles 53.3 and 57.2 (International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature 1999). To resolve this primary homonymy, in accordance with ICZN Article 60.3 (International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature 1999), Eucinetus linskyi is here proposed as a replacement name for Eucinetus bicolor Lawrence, 2019, non Reitter. This name is a patronym based on Marek Linský of Bratislava, Slovakia, who called my attention to this homonymy.

Unravelling the convoluted nomenclature of Marphysa simplex (Annelida, Eunicidae) with the proposal of a new name and the re-description of species

Marphysa simplex is a name that three species bear within the same genus, but each has a different authority and morphological characteristics. This homonymy condition leads to taxonomic confusion and the finite designation of name-bearing is imperative. The current study focuses on two species identified as M. simplex Crossland, 1903 and M. simplex Treadwell, 1922 and a third one, recently considered a secondary homonymy, M. simplex (Langerhans, 1884), is also assessed. The available type specimens were examined and re-described in detail using updated characters and the original descriptions. Marphysa simplex (Langerhans, 1884) is herein judged as an indeterminable species. Marphysa simplex Crossland, 1903 is confirmed as a junior synonym of M. teretiuscula (Schmarda, 1861a) because the differences are minimal. Moreover, M. teretiuscula has characteristics similar to Group B2 (Sanguinea-group; only compound spinigers), instead of the Teretiuscula-group (compound spinigers in the anterior region, subacicular limbate in all chaetigers). On the other hand, M. simplex Treadwell, 1922 is a junior primary homonym of Crossland’s species replaced by M. fijiensisnom. nov. with the chaetal arrangement similar to Group A (limbate chaetae only). In conclusion, the name M. simplex is now unacceptable. The hypothesis on species group only with limbate chaetae and the redescription on M. teretiuscula is also given.

An integrative study of Callicarpa gracilis Fewkes, 1881 and Aglaophenia trifida L. Agassiz, 1862, with notes on some hydroids (Cnidaria: Hydrozoa) from French Guiana

Among the thecate hydroids brought back by the Proteus-Guyane 2017 expedition of the Muséum national d’histoire naturelle of Paris, France, from French Guiana, two interesting species are reported upon. The plumulariid Callicarpa gracilis Fewkes, 1881, known so far from the type specimen only, is comprehensively redescribed 140 years after its original description. It adopts two different morphotypes with respect to both its tropho- and gonosome, forming either simple or ramified colonies, with either structurally-complex or rudimentary phylactocarps, respectively. Taxonomic notes on the genera Callicarpa Fewkes, 1881 and Hippurella Allman, 1877 are provided in light of their intricate history of origin and fate, together with the provisional resurrection of Antomma Stechow, 1919, as an allied genus of the former. The aglaopheniid Aglaophenia trifida L. Agassiz, 1862, whose gonosome was only partly documented to date, is redescribed thoroughly based on specimens bearing male and female corbulae. Scanning electron microscopy and molecular data were also used to document both species. A checklist of the thecate hydroids from French Guiana gathered during Proteus-Guyane 2017 and Guyane 2014 expeditions is provided as an appendix, together with brief notes on some species. Not dealing with the present study, but taking advantage of it, a new name, Antennella billardi Galea, nom. nov., is proposed as a replacement name for Plumularia balei Billard, 1911, which is a permanently invalid junior primary homonym of P. balei Bartlett, 1907.

Mycale species of the tropical Indo-West Pacific (Porifera, Demospongiae, Poecilosclerida).

The species of the cosmopolitan sponge genus Mycale occurring in the tropical Indo-West Pacific region and adjacent subtropical waters are reviewed taxonomically. Specimens incorporated in the collections of the Naturalis Biodiversity Center form the basis of this comprehensive study, supplemented by (type) specimens borrowed from or examined in other institutions. Specimens available numbered 351, belonging to 44 species, including 14 species new to science, Mycale (Aegogropila) prognatha sp.nov., Mycale (Carmia) amiri sp.nov., Mycale (Carmia) fungiaphila sp.nov., Mycale (Carmia) monomicrosclera sp.nov., Mycale (Carmia) tenuichela sp.nov., Mycale (Carmia) tubiporicola sp.nov., Mycale (Carmia) tydemani sp.nov., Mycale (Mycale) asigmata sp.nov., Mycale (Mycale) grandoides sp.nov., Mycale (Mycale) sundaminorensis sp.nov., Mycale (Naviculina) mascarenensis sp.nov., Mycale (Paresperella) sceptroides sp.nov., Mycale (Paresperella) seychellensis sp.nov., Mycale (Zygomycale) sibogae sp.nov. Three species, indicated by the designation 'aff.', were not definitely assigned to known or new species due to uncertainty of their identity. The genus Kerasemna, previously considered a junior synonym of Mycale, was revived as an additional subgenus Mycale (Kerasemna). One species, previously assigned to the genus Desmacella as D. lampra De Laubenfels is here reassigned to Mycale, subgenus at present undecided. Additionally, species previously reported from the region but not represented in our collections are briefly characterized and discussed. We propose new names Mycale (Mycale) mauricei nom.nov. for Mycale macrochela Burton (junior primary homonym of Mycale fistulata var. macrochela Hentschel) and Mycale (Mycale) bouryesnaultae nom.nov. for Mycale (Mycale) fibrosa Boury-Esnault Van Beveren (junior primary homonym of Mycale (Aegogropila) adhaerens subsp. fibrosa Koltun). Keys to the species of each subgenus occurring in the region are provided. The opportunity of having studied this comprehensive set of species and specimens from the tropical Indo-West Pacific is taken to review and discuss the morphological and biogeographical data gathered so far on the genus Mycale. The genus currently comprises approximately 255 accepted species, with highest diversity focused in tropical Atlantic and Indo-West Pacific regions as well as in warm-temperate Mediterranean-Atlantic regions.

Taxonomic and biological notes on Pristiphora ribisi Togashi, 1990, (Hymenoptera, Tenthredinidae) injurious to gooseberries and currants.

Taxonomic and biological notes are given for the East Asian sawfly Pristiphora ribisi Togashi, 1990, injurious to Ribes. The following new synonyms of this species are proposed: Pristiphora (Pristiphora) anivskiensis Haris, 2006, syn. nov., Pristiphora (Pristiphora) nigrocoreana Haris Zsolnai, 2007, syn. nov. and Pristiphora grossulariae Anon., 1912 [a primary homonym of Pristiphora grossulariae Walsh, 1866], syn. nov. The lectotype of Pristiphora grossulariae Anon., 1912 is designated. Redescriptions of the adult and immature stages are given. The male is described for the first time. The life history and host plants are summarized. Its close relative, Pristiphora appendiculata (Hartig, 1837), is excluded from the fauna of Japan.

Case 3821– Helix spirorbis Deshayes, 1850 (currently Scolodonta spirorbis; Gastropoda, Eupulmonata): proposed conservation of the specific name

The purpose of this application, under Article 23.9.5 of the Code, is to conserve the specific name of Helix spirorbis Deshayes, 1859 (currently Scolodonta spirorbis), a junior primary homonym of Helix spirorbisLinnaeus, 1758 (currently Anisus spirorbis). These names are currently in use, respectively, for species in two different families of terrestrial (Scolodontidae) and freshwater (Planorbidae) gastropods, that belong to different superorders. Both names have been treated as valid since they were proposed and both were transferred out of the genus HelixLinnaeus, 1758 before 1899. In fact, H. spirorbis Linnaeus had been reassigned even before Deshayes described his species. It is proposed that Helix spirorbis Deshayes, 1859 be conserved by ruling it is not invalid by reason of being a junior homonym of Helix spirorbisLinnaeus, 1758.

Case 3804 – Magelona minuta Eliason, 1962 (Annelida, Magelonidae): proposed conservation by suppression of Magelona filiformis minuta Wilson, 1959

The purpose of this application, under Article 23.9.3 of the Code, is to conserve the specific name of the shovelhead worm, Magelona minutaEliason, 1962 (Annelida, Magelonidae), in the interest of nomenclatural stability. Magelona minuta is distributed from Scandinavia to West Africa and its name has appeared extensively in ecological and taxonomic works, polychaete guides and biodiversity reports. However, in 1959 Wilson had already described a variety of Magelona filiformisWilson, 1959 as M. filiformis minuta. Having been proposed prior to 1961, this trinomen is both the available name of a subspecies under Article 45.6.4 of the Code and a senior primary homonym of M. minutaEliason, 1962. Particularly for ecologists, the introduction of a new name for Eliason's well-known species would represent an undesirable disturbance to established nomenclature; therefore, suppression of M. filiformis minutaWilson, 1959 is proposed.

Review of type specimens of lizards (Sauria: Lacertidae) described by Georgy Fedorovich Sukhov

The paper provides data on the current location of the type specimens of lacertid lizard's taxa described by herpetologist Georgy F. Sukhov (1899–1942), as at July 1, 2020: Lacerta agilis tauridica Suchow, 1927 (lectotype [here designated] — ZISP No 12620, paralectotypes — ZISP No 3226, 3235, 3238, 3856, 10366в, 12230, 12231, 12520, 12619, 14110, NMNH No 2152 (14599–14600), 2163 (14621–14622), 2172 (14705–14712), 2184 (14772–14773), 2184 (14774–14777), 2188 (14872–14893), 2279 (15983–16037), 2279 (16038–16074), 2518 (16621)), Lacerta boemica Suchow, 1929 (lectotype [here designated] — ZISP No 30363, paralectotypes — ZISP No 16210, 30358-30362, 30364-30398.1, NHM No 1960.1.4.26–30, 1965.337–342, NMNO no No), Apathya cappadocica urmiana Lantz et Suchow, 1934 (holotype — ZISP No 12657b, paratypes — ZISP No 11444, 12657а, с, 12658), Lacerta princeps kurdistanica Suchow, 1936 (holotype — ZISP No 11441.1, paratypes — ZISP No 11440, 11441.2–4, 11442, 11443). According to the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature (4th edition), the name Lacerta agilis caucasica Suchow, 1927 should be considered as a junior primary homonym of Lacerta caucasica Méhely, 1909, and the designation of the neotype of L. a. tauridica by Kalyabina-Hauf et al. must be rejected. The history of description of taxa as well as a list of Sukhov’s publications (12 articles published in 1927–1948) are given. Localities, collector’s names and dates of capture of the type specimens are clarified. Anderson and Šmíd et al. indicated that Eiselt restricted the type locality of L. princeps kurdistanica; this is not true.

A new species of Sphaerotheca Günther, 1859 (Anura: Dicroglossidae) from the degraded urban ecosystems of Bengaluru, Deccan Plateau, India.

The dicroglossid genus Sphaerotheca was erected by Günther in 1859, with its range of distribution in South Asia. Since then, 13 species have been described and 10 species are considered valid. Many of these descriptions were from low to mid-elevation ranges of homestead areas, agroecosystems and degraded landscapes with a few from forested areas. In the present account, a new species of Sphaerotheca, a genetically distinct lineage with a morphological character set distinguishable from its congeners, is described from the surroundings of Bengaluru city, India. Based on evidence for the origin of the original specimen, we also designated a neotype for Rana variegata Gravenhorst, 1829, a junior primary homonym of Rana variegata Linnaeus, 1758, and permanently invalid name, so that it is now a subjective synonym of Rana (Tomopterna) breviceps rolandae Dubois, 1983.

Bees of the genus Anthidium Fabricius, 1804 (Hymenoptera: Apoidea: Megachilidae: Anthidiini) from China.

The Chinese bees of the genus Anthidium Fabricius, 1804, are reviewed. Twenty-one species are confirmed to occur in China, five of which are described and illustrated as new Chinese endemics: Anthidium (Anthidium) pseudomontanum Niu Zhu, sp. nov., A. (A.) pseudophilorum Niu Zhu, sp. nov., A. (A.) tasitiense Niu Zhu, sp. nov., A. (A.) xuezhongi Niu Zhu, sp. nov., and A. (Proanthidium) qingtaoi Niu Zhu, sp. nov.. The previously unknown female of A. (A.) kashmirense Mavromoustakis, 1937 and male of A. (P.) kashgarense (Cockerell, 1911) are described for the first time. Anthidium (A.) furcatum Wu, 2004 (junior primary homonym, nec Anthidium furcatum Ducke, 1908) is replaced with its valid and available synonym A. (A.) striatum Wu, 2004. New synonymies are also established for A. (A.) kashmirense Mavromoustakis, 1937 = A. (A.) nigroventrale Wu, 1982, syn. nov., and A. (A.) florentinum (Fabricius, 1775) = A. (A.) helianthinum Wu, 2004, syn. nov. The non-Chinese Anthidium amabile Alfken, 1933 (junior primary homonym, nec Anthidium porterae var. amabile Cockerell, 1904) is unavailable and the available name Anthidium (Proanthidium) minimum Pasteels, 1969, is valid for this species. Updated synonymies and distributional data are provided for some widespread Palaearctic species including two now adventive in the New World. For Chinese species, the distribution and floral associations of each are provided along with illustrations and a key to the known species.

A new replacement name for Chlorostoma lischkei Pilsbry, 1889 (not of Tapparone-Canefri, 1874) (Vetigastropoda: Trochida: Tegulidae)

ABSTRACT Tegula xanthostigma (A. Adams, 1853) has two shell colour forms: a black form and a brown-green form that was once named as Chlorostoma lischkei Pilsbry, 1889. Recent molecular phylogenetic and ecological studies have demonstrated that these two forms are genetically distinct and furthermore differ in habitat usage patterns. It is thus reasonable to separate them as two different species. The black shell form corresponds to T. xanthostigma, but the name C. lischkei for the brown-green shell form is a junior primary homonym of C. lischkei Tapparone-Canefri, 1874 and thus invalid. We here propose the new replacement name T. kusairo nom. nov. for C. lischkei Pilsbry, 1889.

Nereis taichungensis nom. nov., a replacement name for Nereis articulata Hsueh, 2020, a junior primary homonym to Nereis articulata Ehlers, 1887.

Nereis articulata Ehlers, 1887 is senior primary homonym to Nereis articulata Hsueh, 2020 from Taiwan. The older Nereis articulata name has been transferred to the genus Ceratonereis Kinberg, 1865 in the subgenus Composetia Hartmann-Schröder, 1985 by Hartmann-Schröder (1985), although this placement may be unreliable (Bakken Wilson, 2005). Nevertheless its original name is an available name and its recombination is in use. Hsueh (2020) mistakenly treated N. articulata Ehlers, 1887 as an unavailable name and described a new Nereis, which possesses articulated tentacular cirri, as Nereis articulata Hsueh, 2020. Nereis articulata Ehlers, 1887 has precedence based on Article 23.4 of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature (1999). Thus, Nereis taichungensis nom. nov. is named herein as a replacement name for Nereis articulata Hsueh, 2020, a junior primary homonym to N. articulata Ehlers, 1887, and thus permanently invalid (Article 57.2).

Taxonomic revision of Microdaiphron Pic, 1926 (Coleoptera: Cantharidae: Chauliognathinae)

The genus Microdaiphron Pic, 1926 is revised. Ten species are recognized as valid: Microdaiphron polemioides (Kirsch, 1889), M. implicitus (Erichson, 1847) comb. nov., M. pauloensis (Pic, 1926), M. peruvianus Pic, 1938, M. mendesensis (Pic, 1926), M. tapuruquara sp. nov., M. geodesicus sp. nov., M. batasitensis (Pic, 1926), M. guyanensis Constantin, 2016, and M. brevehumeralis Pic, 1938. Other 23 names within Microdaiphron are synonymized with the currently valid species, whilst Microdaiphron bicoloricornis Pic, 1947 is transferred to Malthesis Motschulsky, 1853. The taxonomic status of three primary homonyms is also discussed. Daiphron polemioides var. atripenne Pic, 1927 (=Microdaiphron implicitus comb. nov.) is the senior homonym of Daiphron atripenne Pic, 1934 and Daiphron atripenne var. bipartitum Pic, 1934. The later is synonymized and reinstated as a valid species under the name D. bipartitus Pic, 1934. Descriptions, distribution maps and illustrations of diagnostic features are presented for all valid taxa, including the photographs of primary types in all available names within Microdaiphron.

Catalogue of type specimens of beetles (Coleoptera) deposited in the National Museum, Prague, Czech Republic. Staphylinidae: Staphylininae: Staphylinini: Philonthina

Type specimens from the collection of beetles (Coleoptera) deposited in the Department of Entomology, National Museum, Prague, are currently being catalogued. In this part of the catalogue dealing with the Staphylinini subtribe Philonthina (Staphylinidae: Staphylininae) we present information on types of 278 species level taxa. Except for the general collection, the type material comes mostly from the recently acquired collection of the late Lubomír Hromádka. A new substitute name, Philonthus acervulus nom. nov., is proposed for Philonthus zosterops Hromádka, 2013, a junior primary homonym of Philonthus zosterops Hromádka, 2011. One new combination is established: Eccoptolonthus terezae (Hromádka, 2016) comb. nov. from Pseudohesperus Hayashi, 2008. Philonthus zosterops Hromádka, 2011 is synonymized with P. mesophoyx Hromádka, 2016, syn. nov. Correct original spellings of Philonthus terathopius Hromádka, 2012 and Philonthus crecopsis Hromádka, 2013 are fixed. The type locality and distribution of Philonthus camelus Hromádka, 2008 is corrected from Tanzania: Kilimandjaro to the Republic of the Congo: Bouansa.

New names for junior homonyms in Scydmaeninae (Coleoptera, Staphylinidae).

As in most species-rich groups, cases of homonymy are not uncommon among Scydmaeninae. Many primary and secondary junior homonyms were recently replaced by O'Keefe (2000), Davies (2004), Davies Vít (2004), Castellini (2010), Jałoszyński (2011), Asenjo (2016), and Newton (2017). One new primary homonym has been published since then, and changes in generic placement (Jałoszyński 2013, 2020a) have generated several new secondary homonyms. New names for those are proposed below.

Namenzwillinge und ‑mehrlinge in der Toponymie: Am Beispiel von Deutschschweizer Ortsnamen

Not all place names are unique, and certain place names are – or used to be – name twins or even name multiples. In a corpus of around 1200 place names from German speaking Switzerland it was found that nearly a quarter of them share the original name form with at least one other name (etymological or primary homonyms). Today, the originally identical name forms are either the same or differ from each other. A smaller part of the corpus consists of place names that show the same name form today but derive from different original name forms (secondary homonyms). This article explores the possibility of classifying place names according to the concept of homonymy, which is familiar primarily in relation to common nouns and has not been examined with regard to place names before. As a first step, the place names were classified into types of homonymy (total or partial homonymy). Subsequently, the processes that lead from the original name form to today’s name form – either parallel to or different from each other – were investigated and characterized. The aim was to explore the influencing factors affecting the development of the name forms. It was found that the geographical distance between the places involved can have a major influence on the development of the names. However, phonological processes, writing conventions in administration, morphology and folk etymology also play an important role.

Nomenclatural notes on three species of Scymnini (Coleoptera: Coccinellidae) from Ceylon

ABSTRACT The nomenclature of Scymnus quadrillum Motschulsky 1858 (nec Redtenbacher 1843), S. latemaculatus Motschulsky 1858, and Scymnus (Clitostethus) fumatus Sicard 1929, all originally described from Ceylon, is discussed and clarified. Based on examination of material at the Natural History Museum, London, identified by comparison with Motschulsky’s lectotypes, Scymnus (Pullus) coccivora Ayyar, 1925, an economically important species widely distributed in the Indian region, is found to be conspecific with S. quadrillum. As S. quadrillum is a junior primary homonym of S. quadrillum Redtenbacher, 1843, S. coccivora, the next seniormost available name, should be applied for this species. Scymnus latemaculatus Motschulsky, 1858 is the correct name of the species commonly and widely distributed in the Oriental region, Middle East and Africa and identified as S. quadrillum auctt., Scymnus (Pullus) taiwanus Ohta, and Scymnus (Pullus) belophallus Capra by various authors. Scymnus (Pullus) elegans v. clathratus Sicard, 1929, currently regarded as a synonym of S. coccivora, is conspecific and synonymous with S. latemaculatus (syn. nov.) and is removed from synonymy with S. coccivora. A lectotype is designated for S. latemaculatus. Scymnus (Clitostethus) fumatus Sicard, 1929 is transferred to Axinoscymnus Sasaji (comb. nov.), briefly redescribed and illustrated.
