The current period faces an intense technological advancement in information technology with data becoming even harder to be stored and analyzed. Especially because information systems are used on a daily basis, their prevention of difficulties becomes particularly important. The object of this research is to put in order and evaluate the various forcasting techniques in information systems that are currently in use and make recommendations as to which one is the most effective always taking into consideration the particularity of the task. As part of the research work, a detailed comparative study of classical and new forecasting methods and an assessment of their use in the field of information systems was carried out in terms of applicability, forecasting accuracy and complexity of implementation. Furthermore, segments for the forecasting market were highlighted with additional information from reputable market research companies on the topic to strengthen the relevance in different industry areas.
