A study on enhancing EFL students’ vocabulary proficiency via TikTok

TikTok can be used for many purposes, including for mastering English vocabulary. This study aims to determine the improvement of EFL students’ English vocabulary ability after being taught vocabulary using TikTok videos. This study used a quasi-experimental design with a total of 178 Grade VII EFL students from a state junior high school in northern Sumatra. In this study, the sample consisted of two groups, totaling 61 students, which were then divided into two groups: the experimental group and control group. In collecting the data, the researchers conducted vocabulary tests in both the pre- and post-tests. The results revealed that the students’ average pre-test score in the experimental group was 66.44, while the average of the students’ pre-test scores in the control group was 65.77, indicating similar initial achievements. However, the mean post-test score of the experimental group after being taught vocabulary using TikTok videos remarkably increased to 91.39, while the mean post-test score of the control group was 79.99. Furthermore, the SPSS result also showed that the t-score of the post-test in the experimental and control groups was 5.83, at the 5% level of significance (= 0.05), which was out of the limits of 1.96 and 1.96. Therefore, the acceptance of the alternative hypothesis suggests that teaching vocabulary through the TikTok application has a significant positive impact on vocabulary proficiency. Therefore, EFL teachers are encouraged to selectively incorporate TikTok videos into their vocabulary teaching approaches.

CONTEXTUAL DISTANCE TEACHING TO IMPROVE TOURIST DRIVERS' ENGLISH LANGUAGE EXPRESSION

This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of Contextual Distance Teaching (CDT) in improving driver’s English language expression and enhancing motivation, while also evaluating its significant influence on their English proficiency. Utilizing an action research approach conducted via the WhatsApp online platform, this study engaged 10 tourist drivers associated with the Bali Transport group, aged between 22 and 50. The study comprised two cycles, each consisting of three sessions. Data collection involved administering tests and questionnaires, including pretest, post-test 1, and post-test 2. Analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics and paired sample t-tests. The initial findings indicate that CDT effectively enhances the language expression of drivers in service-related contexts. The average pretest score, initially categorized as "poor" at 39, improved to 65 in post-test 1 and further increased to 75.8 in post-test 2, now categorized as "fair.", The main score of the questionnaire was 4.4 of 0-5 Likert scale implying the drivers had positive motivation and perception on the strategy apllied. The second statistic finding indicated a significant difference in the mean between the pre-test (Sig. and the post-test 1 (0.000 < 0.05) and post-test 2 (0.000 < 0.05). This study suggests that the implementation of CBT has a positive influence on reducing the number of language expression errors made by drivers as adult learners, leading to better English proficiency.

ASSISTANCE IN THE PREPARATION OF THE OPERATIONAL CURRICULUM FOR MADRASAH IBTIDAIYAH ON SUMBERGEMPOL DISTRICT IN 2024

The purpose of this mentoring is to facilitate knowledge and direct practice in the preparation of the Madrasah Operational Curriculum (KOM) in elementary madrasas in Sumbergempol District and ultimately there is an increase in knowledge and skills after carrying out this activity. This research activity in the form of community service research was carried out by the author and supervisor of the Sumbergempol District madrasah which was carried out from July 27 to August 16, 2024 with the target of assistance being 10 Elementary Madrasahs in Sumbergempol District, Tulungagung Regency with a total of 80 participants. The stages in this community service activity consist of the preparation, socialization, mentoring and evaluation stages. This training activity showed results in an increase in the understanding and skills of participants regarding the preparation of KOM which is proof that the entire material provided was successfully understood well by most of the training participants. Mastery of the training material can be seen from the increase in the pre-test and post-test given, where the average pre-test score was 65, increasing in the post-test to 95. In terms of psychomotor abilities, the increase can be proven from the success of the participants in compiling their respective Madrasah Operational Curriculum (KOM) which will later be used in their Madrasah, and their opinions about this activity show real benefits by producing a product in the form of a Madrasah Operational Curriculum (KOM).

The The Whole Brain Teaching Model: How Does This Model Contribute to Social Skills in Early Childhood?

Objective: This study aims to evaluate the impact of the Whole Brain Teaching Model on enhancing students' social skills. Method: A quantitative approach with experimental research methods was used, employing a one-group pretest-posttest design. The study population consisted of students from Darussalam Candi Kindergarten, Thoriqussalam Kindergarten, and Masyitoh Kindergarten in Sidoarjo Regency. Data analysis was conducted using a paired sample t-test. Result: The findings indicate significant improvements in the average pre-test and post-test scores across various dimensions: peer relationship skills increased by 1.62, self-control (self-management skills) by 1.52, academic skills by 1.58, compliance skills by 1.82, and assertion skills by 1.53. Consequently, the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected, and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. Therefore, the Whole Brain Teaching model positively and comprehensively enhances various aspects of social skills in early childhood. Novelty: This study showcases a unique application of the Whole Brain Teaching (WBT) Model to enhance social skills in early childhood. By adopting a holistic approach that engages both the left and right brain, the study fosters cooperation, empathy, and communication, thereby offering a fresh perspective on early childhood education.

IMPLEMENTASI MEDIA TOGA BERBASIS QR CODE PADA PEMBELAJARAN TEMATIK UNTUK MENIGKATKAN LITERASI SAINS DAN DIGITAL PESERTA DIDIK KELAS III SD

This study aims to describe the implementation of QR Code-based "Tanaman Obat Keluarga" (TOGA) media in thematic learning at SD Negeri Penawungan 02, which is located in Ranuyoso sub-district, as a means of enhancing scientific literacy and digital literacy among third-grade students. This research is descriptive in nature, and the data were collected through observation and questionnaires. The findings indicate that the use of QR Code-based TOGA media successfully improved students' scientific and digital literacy. This is evidenced by the comparison of the average pre-test and post-test scores, which showed a significant increase from 63 to 80. In other words, the percentage of students achieving mastery increased from 60% to 80%. Additionally, the use of this media enhanced students' scientific and digital literacy skills by involving the use of smartphones and QR code reader applications. Students gained a better understanding of scientific concepts such as the properties, benefits, uses, and roles of medicinal plants in health and the environment, while also becoming more proficient in operating smartphones, including connecting to the internet and using QR code reader applications. Thus, the implementation of QR Code-based TOGA media at SD Negeri Penawungan 02 in Ranuyoso sub-district has successfully enhanced the scientific and digital literacy of third-grade students.

Ethnomathematics Concept for Learning at High School in Bali

This community service program is focused on improving the quality of mathematics learning at SMA Negeri 2 South Kuta, especially in terms of variety and alternative learning resources. The main issues faced are the lack of varied learning resources and the lack of optimal scanning of innovations in learning to other teachers. The purpose of this service is to increase the understanding of the concept of Ethnomathematics and encourage its application as an alternative learning resource for mathematics teachers at SMA Negeri 2 South Kuta. The method used is mentoring with two sub-topics, namely providing an understanding of the concept of Ethnomathematics, the relationship between culture and mathematics, cultural approaches in learning, and the benefits of Ethnomathematics, and emphasizing the importance of understanding the social context in learning, inclusive learning, and connecting mathematics with the context of students' lives. Mentoring is carried out in four stages including planning, preparation, implementation, and evaluation. Pre-test and post-test are used to measure the initial understanding and improvement of teachers' understanding related to Ethnomathematics. The mentoring succeeded in increasing teachers' understanding of Ethnomathematics. There was an increase in the average pre-test and post-test scores of 15.69%. Six teachers managed to achieve the maximum score on the post-test, while the other five teachers showed a significant increase in comprehension. These results show that mentoring has succeeded in making a positive contribution in improving teachers' understanding of Ethnomathematics

Strengthening Marketing Strategies in Organic Agricultural Products Through Organic Farmer Training in Indonesia

This Community Service (PKM) activity aims to improve the marketing skills of organic plant farmers in Indonesia through online training focused on digital marketing strategies, branding development, and distribution network expansion. The method used was participatory training, involving 30 farmers as a sample, with data collection carried out through pre-test and post-tests to measure changes in participants' knowledge and skills. The results showed a significant improvement in participants' understanding of organic product marketing, with the average pre-test score of 2.5 increasing to 4.2 in the post-test. This increase is mainly seen in the ability of participants to utilize social media and e-commerce platforms to market their products. In addition, qualitative interviews showed that participants felt more confident in developing product branding and expanding marketing networks, although challenges related to internet infrastructure were still faced in some areas. Post-training mentoring also provides additional support that helps participants implement the strategies learned. In conclusion, this training is efficacious in improving the marketing skills of organic farmers. It can be a model that can be applied more widely to strengthen the competitiveness of organic agricultural products in Indonesia.

PENGARUH MODEL PEMBELAJARAN INKUIRI TERHADAP HASIL BELAJAR MATERI ORGAN PENCERNAAN MAKANAN MANUSIA SISWA KELAS V SEKOLAH DASAR

This study aims to determine the effect of the inquiry learning model on students' learning outcomes at SD Negeri 223 Palembang. The research applied an experimental design using a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The population of this study consists of all fifth-grade students at SD Negeri 223 Palembang, the research samples are classes VA and VB. The instrument used is a multiple-choice test. The data analysis techniques employed include normality tests, homogeneity tests, and hypothesis testing. The results show that: (1) the average pretest score of the experimental class was 44.44, and the average posttest score was 69.13. In contrast, the average pretest score of the control class was 51.76, and the average posttest score was 64.77. (2) Based on the t-test results, the calculated value ttest is 46.58 and the table value ttable is 1.701, indicating that 46.58 > 1.701, which leads to the rejection of H0 and acceptance of Ha. Therefore, it can be concluded that the inquiry learning model has a significant effect on students' learning outcomes.

Development of Doratoon-Based Animation Audio Visual Media to Improve Cognitive Learning Outcomes in Science Teaching Materials

In the learning process, media is quite an important aspect. However, many teachers do not use educational media in teaching, causing low student cognitive learning outcomes. This research aims to: determine the feasibility of Doratoon-based animated audio-visual learning media; to determine the effectiveness of Doratoon-based animated audio-visual learning media in improving student learning outcomes. The ADDIE method (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation) is a research method used by researchers. Media experts and material experts assess whether media development is suitable for use. The average pretest score for the large group test is 59.70 and the average posttest score is 85. After calculating the N-gain value, we get a value of 0.63, which is included in the medium standard. These figures show that the animated audio visual media developed based on Doratoon can be used and can improve students' cognitive learning outcomes IV

THE EFFECT OF HYPNOTEACHING INTEGRATED EXTENSIVE READING TO IMPROVE STUDENTS’ WRITING SKILLS (A QUASI EXPERIMENTAL AT THE TENTH GRADE STUDENT’S OF SMA N 6 BENGKULU TENGAH)

The low writing ability of students is influenced by various factors including the lack of use of learning media and learning models. The purpose of this study was to determine whether or not there is a significant achievement of using hypnoteaching integrated with extensive reading on students' writing skills at SMA N 6 Bengkulu Tengah. The type of research used is quasi-experiment. The population of this study were tenth grade students at SMA N 6 Bengkulu Tengah. This study used purposive sampling technique in determining two classes as samples, class X1 consisting of 30 students as the control class and class X2 consisting of 30 students as the experimental class consisting of 30 students as the experimental class. Writing test data were taken from control and experimental class students collected by two tests, namely pre-test and post-test. First, the researcher gave a pre-test to both classes. After that, the researcher gave a post-test to both classes. Pre-test and pot-test scores are collected from the essay test. The findings of this research indicate that teaching students' writing skills using a hypnoteaching strategy integrated with extensive reading is very effective. The average pre-test score for the experimental class was 34,00 and the post-test was 68,83. This is proven by the calculated t value (0,231) and t table (2,069) which is greater than the table at the 5% significance level. Next, the hypothesis test obtained a 2-tailed sig (p) of 0.00 while alpha (a) was 0.05 (0.00<0.05). This means that Ho is rejected and H is accepted. So, the use of an hypnoteaching integrated extensive reading to improve students' writing skills has a significant effect.

Digital Skills Improvement for MSMEs in Rural Areas for Online Marketing

This Community Service (PKM) aims to improve the digital skills of MSME actors in rural areas, especially in online marketing, through online training using the Zoom platform. This activity is motivated by the low digital skills of MSMEs in rural areas, which limits their access to the digital market. The method used is participatory action research (PAR), involving 30 MSME actors who are selected by purposive sampling. The training lasts four weeks and includes two weekly sessions, covering material on digital marketing, the use of social media, e-commerce, and marketing performance monitoring. The results showed a significant improvement in participants' digital skills, with an average pre-test score of 45 increasing to 80 on the post-test. Implementing the skills learned also resulted in an increase in engagement on social media by 40% and an increase in online transactions by 20%-30%. Participants gave positive feedback regarding the relevance of the training and the application of the skills taught. This activity fills the gap in previous research by focusing on practical strategies adapted to the conditions of MSMEs in rural areas. The main obstacle faced is the problem of internet connectivity, which needs to be considered in the next training. Overall, this activity has succeeded in increasing the competitiveness of MSMEs in the digital market

Development of Educational Monopoly Learning Media in Science Subjects to Improve Students Learning Outcomes

Student interest in learning will increment in the event that the educator utilizes different learning media than expected. This research and development mean to develop and test the feasibility, and effectiveness of educational monopoly learning media in grade V elementary school science subjects. This study used the Borg and Gall model. Data collection techniques use tests (pretest-posttest) and non-tests in the form of observations, questionnaire interviews, and document data. The results of validation by media and material experts show that the media has met the very valid criteria with percentages of 88.69% and 93.33% respectively. Based on thes results pretest-posttest, is known that educational monopoly learning media is effective in improving learning outcomes, shown by the results of an increase in the average pretest score of 54.67 to 80.33 at the time of the posttest and the results of the N-Gain test obtained a value of 0.58 with the medium classification. In light of the aftereffects of the questionnaire, the response of teachers and students received a very positive response. So, it can be concluded that the educational monopoly learning media is effective in improving science learning outcomes and is suitable for use in class V learning at SDN 03 Mereng

The Influence of Think Talk Write Learning Model on Students' Writing Skills

This study aims to determine the influence of the Think Talk Write learning model on the ability to write announcement texts among eighth grade students at SMPN 18 Tasikmalaya in the 2023/2024 academic year. This research employed a quasi-experimental method with a quantitative approach. The research sample consisted of 40 eighth-grade students, with 20 students from class VIII-D serving as the experimental group and 20 students from class VIII-A serving as the control group. Data collection was carried out using pretests and posttests. The pretest was administered to both groups before the treatment. After the treatment, a posttest was conducted for both groups. To analyze the data, the researcher used an independent sample t-test with SPSS. The average pretest score in the experimental class using the Think Talk Write learning model was 56.35, and the average posttest score was 80.70. The average pretest score in the control class using the conventional learning model was 51.65, and the posttest score was 71.40. Thus, the learning outcomes in the experimental class were more successful than those in the control class. Based on statistical testing (t-test), the difference in the average posttest scores between the experimental and control classes showed that the Sig. (2-tailed) value was less than 0.05, specifically 0.013 < 0.05. This indicates that the Think Talk Write model has a significant effect on the ability to write announcement texts among eighth-grade students at SMPN 18 Tasikmalaya in the 2023/2024 academic year.

Pengaruh Media Audio Visual Terhadap Keterampilan Menyimak Siswa pada Pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia Kelas V di Sekolah Dasar

This research aims to find out whether there is an influence of audio-visual media on listening skills in class V Indonesian Language subjects at elementary school. This research has several problems, namely the low level of listening skills in Indonesian Language learning which is caused by a lack of maximizing learning methods and media as well as a lack of student involvement in the learning process. This research is a quasi-experimental quantitative. This research sample used Purposive Sampling Technique which consisted of two classes, namely class V A with 23 students as an experimental class using audio visual media and class V B with 23 students as a control class without using media. The data collection technique used in this research is a multiple choice test. The results of the research in the experimental class were with an average pretest score of 57.97 and an average posttest score of 83.19. From the t-test hypothesis, the value of tcount is 8.653 > ttable 1.679 at the significance level (α) = 0.05 and df (n1=n1) -2 = (23+23)-2= 44. This means that H1 is accepted and H0 is rejected. So, it can be concluded that there is an influence of audio-visual learning media on students' listening skills in class V Indonesian language learning at elementary school for the 2023/2024 academic year.

Development of Canva-Based LowkE-Book Learning Media as a Companion to PjBL to Improve Student Learning Outcomes

This research uses research and development methods which refer to the Borg and Gall model. This research was conducted with the aim of developing and testing the feasibility, practicality and effectiveness of Canva-based LowkE-Book learning media. This research involved 27 students with 6 small-scale trial subjects and 21 large-scale trial subjects at SD Negeri Sadeng 01. The data collection technique used was a test technique (pretest-posttest) and non-test in the form of observation results, questionnaires, interview results and document data. The validation results carried out by media expert validators and material experts showed that the Canva-based LowkE-Book learning media had met the valid criteria with a score of 90% by the media expert validator, and 96% by the material expert validator. Based on the pretest-posttest results, it is known that the Canva-based LowkE-Book is effective in improving student learning outcomes as evidenced by the increase in the average pretest score from 42.85 to 85.14 at the time of the posttest and the n gain test results obtained <g> value gain of 0.74 in the high category. Based on the results of the response questionnaire distributed, very positive responses were obtained from teachers and students. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the Canva-based LowkE-Book learning media is effective for improving learning outcomes in science subjects and is feasible and practical to apply in student learning.

Edukasi Latihan Pelvic Tilting untuk Kasus Ischialgia pada kondisi Lansia di wilayah Puskesmas Mojolaban

Mojolaban is a sub-district in Sukoharjo Regency, Central Java which has 15 villages. This sub-district has a Mojolaban main health center and a Jatimalang sub-district health center. Mojolaban sub-district has many elderly people aged 60-64 years, 42,481 people and most of them work as ethanol, roof tile and gamelan craftsmen. Ischialgia has risk factors such as age, unergonomic working positions, the habit of lifting too heavy weights, and injury. These risk factors are related to the majority of people's jobs in the Mojolaban District area. Ischialgia is a problem that often arises in the elderly and people in Mojolaban District do not yet know how to treat Ischialgia properly. This outreach method uses the lecture method and uses leaflets as an outreach medium. The aim of this outreach is to prevent, promote health related to Ischialgia, targeting participants at the Elderly Posyandu located in Palur Mojolaban Village. The measurements used in this activity were pre-test and post-test questionnaires to measure the elderly's understanding of Ischialgia. The results showed a significant increase in understanding regarding Ischialgia material with an average pre-test score of 3.5 and an average post-test score of 6.1.

META-ANALYSIS: THE IMPROVEMENT NUMERACY LITERACY THROUGH PROBLEM BASED LEARNING

Numeracy literacy is a very important skill in the 21st century. However, the numeracy literacy rate in Indonesia is still low, this can be seen from the results of the PISA test and various observational studies in schools. One way to overcome this problem is by applying the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model. The aim of this research is to determine the improvement numeracy literacy through the PBL model. The research method used is meta analysis with a sequence of preparation, implementation and analysis stages. The analyzed articles were 10 articles, with the criteria of each article discussing the PBL model for numeracy literacy, and there was information about the mean and standard deviation. The results obtained are that students' numeracy literacy through the PBL model has increased, where . It was concluded that there was a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test literacy numeracy scores before and after the PBL model. The average pre-test and post-test scores are 62.54 and 77.92 respectively, numeracy literacy in the post-test is higher than in the pre-test, so it can be concluded that the PBL model can increase students' numeracy literacy. The articles analyzed have similarities and differences in results and views because many aspects are applied. There were 2 different studies found, both of which received an Effect Size (ES) value of 0.09 and were categorized as small, so further research related to PBL on numeracy literacy, especially at the elementary school level, considering that in this meta analysis only used 1 data with the elementary school level whose results were not significant.

Edukasi SWADAIA: Swamedikasi Dispepsia Berbasis Kasus dan Video pada Masyarakat Desa Sungai Kakap, Kabupaten Kubu Raya

The prevalence of dyspepsia in Sungai Kakap Village is ranked third largest based on data from the Sungai Kakap Community Health Center, Kab. Kubu Raya with an incidence of 1,636 cases in 2023. One of the problems experienced by dyspepsia patients is inappropriate self-medication or self-medication. This Community Service Activity (PKM) is aimed at PKK members and Posyandu cadres because they are part of the community and are also an extension of health workers in helping solve problems experienced by dyspepsia patients. The method used in this PKM is case-based and educational videos. This PKM activity consists of several activities including preparation of activities; orientation and coordination of activities; selecting the target audience for educational media creation activities; providing pre-tests and cases at the beginning of activities; providing educational materials; discussion; post-test; evaluation of activity implementation; and data analysis. The output of this community service is publication in local electronic media in West Kalimantan (Suara Pemred/Tanjungpura Times), publication of scientific articles in the Sinta 4 accredited journal " PengabdianMu ", Copyright of educational videos and videos of implementation of activities on the FK UNTAN YouTube channel. The overall results obtained were an increase in knowledge of 27.19% with an average pre-test score (60.6) and post-test score (77.08). According to the evaluation of activities through questionnaires, participants considered the material presented to be very interesting, and the learning media provided was considered to provide new knowledge.

Integration of the brain jogging program in physical education on the cognitive abilities of elementary school students

Background. Developing children's cognitive since childhood is very important for parents so that children can develop optimally. There are many benefits if children have good cognitive abilities or skills, such as reasoning and solving problems they face better. Cognitive abilities are very important for children because they are a provision in living everyday life and working as adults. Purpose. Therefore, this study aimed to look into how brain jogging affected elementary school school students' cognitive capacities. Material and methods. An experimental methodology with a pretest-posttest-one-group design was employed in this investigation. The research instrument used was the Intelligenz Structure Test (IST) which was used as a memory test; the Digit Symbol Substitution Test (DSST) was used to test attention; and the Grid Concentration Test (GCT) was used to test concentration. The sample in this study were elementary school students with an average age of 10-11 years who joined six elementary schools in Sumedang Regency, Indonesia, totaling 75 people, consisting of 40 boys and 35 girls. Non-probability sampling with the purposive sampling method, or purposive sampling only, was used. That is, the location of the sample is close to the research location. Results. Based on the calculation of the hypothesis test using the Paired Sample t-test, the difference in the average pre-test and post-test data from the child's cognitive ability through the IST test obtained a P-value of 0.000. Then the DSST test obtained a P-value of 0.000, and the GCT test obtained a P-value of 0.000. Thus, there is a difference between the average pre-test and post-test scores indicated by a P-value less than 0.05. Conclusions. The results of this study prove that the brain jogging program significantly affects the cognitive abilities of elementary school children. The significant effect is because the brain jogging program focuses on several coordination activities that lead to mental processes related to abilities in the form of general recognition, which is mental and is marked by the representation of an object in a person's mental picture, whether in the form of symbols, responses, ideas or ideas, and values ​​or considerations.

Measuring Changes in Creativity Thinking of Hydrocarbon Concepts in Students Taught with Hyperdocs Worksheet Modeling

This research was conducted to determine the changes in conceptual thinking creativity in hydrocarbons among students who were taught by using the Hyperdocs Worksheet at SMA Negeri 7 Gorontalo on hydrocarbon material. The method used in this research was a quasi-experiment with a non-equivalent control group design. The research samples consisted of students from class XI Merdeka 1 as the experiment group and XI Merdeka 2 as a control group at SMA Negeri 7 Gorontalo, selected using purposive sampling. The research from the creative thinking ability test were statitically processed, including prerequisite test consisting of normality and homogeneity tests. The result showed normal distribution and homogeneity. The average pre-test score for the experimental class was 31% and the post-test score was 82%, while the control class had an average pre-test score of 28% and a the post-test score 60%. Furthermore, based on the hypothesis testing using a t-test at a significance level of α = 0.05, a tcount was 9.25 with a ttable of 1.671. This indicates that tcount > ttable, leading to the conclusion that H0 is rejected and H1 is confirmed, indicating a change in conceptual thinking creativity hydrocarbons among students taught using by modeling Hyperdocs Worksheets modeling. The results of the N-Gain test showed that the average N-Gain score for the experiment class was 0.73 and that for the control class, it was 0.43, indicating a high N-Gain score in the experimental class. Therefore, using Hyperdocs Worksheets modeling effectively enhances students’ creativity in thinking about hydrocarbon concepts.
