Technical solutions that can be implemented to increase mileage of tires up to 35%, eliminate the emergency of tires of forest and agricultural machines, reduce fuel consumption, increase cross-country ability and stability of machines, reduce damage of soil of cutting areas are discussed. These innovative methods for management of durability of tires are already widely used abroad, in leading transport companies in Russia, at large agricultural enterprises, but are still not known in the logging industry. The main competitive advantages of these technical solutions are simplicity of the construction, installation and operation, as well as low cost. As a result of the analysis of the existing tire pressure monitoring systems, the authors suggest the principle of improving the construction, which increases its reliability and reduces the cost.

A Flexible Dual-Modal Sensing System for Synchronous Pressure and Inertial Monitoring of Finger Movement

In this paper, a flexible dual-modal sensing system is proposed for monitoring the pressure and inertial information of the finger movement. The sensing system is composed of a pressure sensor array and two inertial measurement units (IMUs) for sensing the fingertip pressure and the finger gesture, respectively. The graphene aerogel (GA) with excellent sensitivity is utilized as the sensing element of the pressure sensor array, and five GA sensing elements are designed to detect the pressure distribution of different fingertip areas. With serpentine circuitry structure sealed by polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS), the pressure sensor array can demonstrate flexibility, stretchability, and biocompatibility when mounted on the finger. The two IMUs are attached to the back of the finger. The signal and power supply electrodes of the pressure sensor array are connected with the IMUs, which can obtain the pressure and inertial signals simultaneously. A prototype was fabricated and experiments were carried out to test the basic performance of the sensing system. It has been verified that the pressure sensor array shows high resolution of 108.8 kPa and well stability after a 10-hour repeatability experiment. The IMUs are also reliable for sensing inertial information after calibration. Measurement of four daily hand movements and recognition of ten typical grasping gestures were conducted to verify the feasibility of the proposed system. Experimental results showed that the sensing systems could classify the ten gestures with a high accuracy of 97%, which verified the approach can provide a promising path for hand movement measurement and gesture recognition.

H-TPMS: a hybrid tire pressure monitoring system for road vehicles

Since under-inflated wheels may lead to unsafe driving conditions, in many countries all the new cars must be equipped with tire pressure monitoring systems (TPMS). Such devices can be “direct”, in case air pressure sensors are employed, or “indirect”, if low tires are detected by comparing relative wheel speeds, typically via already available speed sensors. While the former are perfectly suited but costly, the latter are cheaper but they typically cannot be used to detect four deflated wheels. In this work, we present a “hybrid” solution, which is able to estimate the pressure of all four wheel by employing a single pressure sensor. Then, such a solution turns out to be a good trade-off between the systems cost and the measurement performance. The effectiveness of the approach is illustrated via experimental tests carried out on a real vehicle setup.

Ex vivo comparison of the bursting strength of an equine ventral midline celiotomy covered by two standard abdominal bandages

To determine the compressive effect of abdominal bandages after ventral midline celiotomy closure in horses. Ex vivo, experimental study. Equine cadavers (n = 18), six per group. A 20-cm ventral midline celiotomy was created in each of 18 equine cadavers. A 200-L inflatable bladder was placed in the abdomen, and the linea alba was apposed. Horses were randomly assigned to no bandage (C), elastic (E), or Velcro inelastic (I) bandage groups for testing. Circumferential bandages were placed with a subbandage pressure monitoring system over the incision. The bladder was insufflated until construct failure, which was determined by a decrease in pressure reading. Bursting pressure, location of body wall or bandage failure, and subbandage pressures were recorded. Maximum bursting pressure was different between groups E and C (P = .004), with no difference between groups E and I (P = .146) or I and C (P = .085). Group I achieved higher subbandage pressure compared with group E (P = .036). Abdominal compliance was not different between groups (P = .099). Location of failure differed between groups (P = .011), with failure at the diaphragm more common in group I (6/6, 100%) compared with groups E (3/6 [50%]) and C (1/6 [16.7%]). Elastic abdominal bandages had higher abdominal bursting pressures compared with unbandaged incisions.

Cloud based smart wireless and health care monitoring system

People are facing several health issues due to the stress and unhealthy food habits. But the greater issue being the ignorance towards these two. On this regard we proposed a new idea that is a smart blood pressure and glucose level monitoring system through sensor monitoring system anybody can measure the blood pressure and glucose level, this sensor was interfaced with IOT through raspberry-pi. At first the data of the person’s average blood pressure and glucose level is stored as a data in cloud, and as per the measurements of daily or monthly basis the data will be compared with the cloud through HTTP and MQTT Protocol. If there any changes found in the data, it will automatically forward the message to the hospitals through that the doctor can suggest the person regarding daily routine food through this we can avoid major health problems.

879 Utilization of postpartum home blood pressure monitoring across different obstetrical care settings

To assess feasibility of implementing an evidence-based home blood pressure (BP) monitoring system for postpartum women and evaluate utilization across different obstetrical care settings. This quality improvement initiative enrolled postpartum women with any hypertensive disorder of pregnancy or chronic hypertension. To enroll they also had to be English speaking and have access to a text messaging. We utilized University of Pennsylvania’s Heart Safe Motherhood text-based platform, in which, women received twice daily automated reminders/feedback to transmitted BP values over a 14-day period following hospital discharge. Our primary outcomes were program reach (defined as the proportion of eligible women willing to participate) and individual level implementation (defined as adherence with texting at least 1 BP within 72 hours of discharge and responding to at least 50% of BP reminders). Completion was defined as participation throughout the 14 days without unenrollment. We aimed to enroll 80% of eligible women with 90% and 80% adherence rates respectively. We further evaluated the enrollment and adherence rates by practice group serving both privately and publicly insured patients. In the first 3 months following implementation (April 1, 2020 – June 30, 2020), 278 women were eligible for enrollment. Of these women, 247 enrolled (88.8%) with a 92.7% completion rate. There was an overall adherence rate of 92.1% within 72 hours of enrollment and 84.7% adherence with at least 50% of BP reminders. All of which met our stated aims. Figure 1 describes enrollment and adherence rates broken down by practice group. Adherence throughout the 14-day period tended to be below our goal of 80% in practices with more publicly insured patient populations (Figure 1). Our study demonstrates that successful implementation of home BP monitoring is feasible across differing obstetrical care settings. The inability to meet our 80% 14-day adherence goal in groups with higher public insurance rates may represent unique barriers to care that these patients face.

Decubitus pump health device implementation with pressure sensor based on Atmega 328

The decubitus, also known as pressure ulcer, is a wound that occurs due to pressure mainly on the protruding bones due to the patient is lying in bed on long time. This research purpose is to help prevent decubitus sores for immobility patients who are more bedridden during treatment at the hospital. This research module is a special mattress with an automatic pump which is equipped with an air pressure monitoring system on the mattress. The MPX5700 sensor measures mattress pressure. On the module testing, it can be observing that the largest error value on the low setting value measurement that is 2.25 % while the smallest error value on high setting measurement that is 1.84 %. Based on the results of tests and supported by the research, it can be concluded that the decubitus pump module can run well because it is still at the error tolerance threshold at ± 5 %.

Intraarterial catheter diameter and dynamic response of arterial pressure monitoring system: a randomized controlled trial.

The dynamic response (DR) of the arterial pressure monitoring system (APMS) may depend on the intraarterial catheter (IAC) diameter. We hypothesized that adequate DR would be more common when using a smaller IAC. We compared the DR of the AMPS (Auto Transducer™) between three IACs (BD Angiocath Plus™) with different diameters. 353 neurosurgical patients were randomized into three groups undergoing catheterization with a 20-, 22-, or 24-gauge IAC: 20G (n = 119), 22G (n = 117), and 24G (n = 117) groups, respectively. The DR, which depends on the natural frequency and damping coefficient, was divided into four types: adequate (primary outcome measure), underdamped, overdamped, and unacceptable. The frequency of intraoperative IAC malfunction was noted. Adequate DR was observed more frequently in the 22G and 24G groups than the 20G group (13.7% and 15.4% vs. 4.2%, P = 0.011 and 0.004, respectively). The frequency of underdamped DR was higher in the 20G group than the 24G group (86.6% vs. 69.2%, P = 0.001), whereas overdamped DR was more frequent in the 24G group than the 20G and 22G groups (6.0% vs. 0.0% and 0.0%, P = 0.007 and 0.014, respectively). IAC malfunctioned more frequently during surgery in the 24G group than the 20G and 22G groups (15.4% vs. 0.0% and 1.7%, P < 0.001 and P < 0.001, respectively). The frequency of adequate DR was low regardless of the IAC diameter. Nonetheless, in terms of DR and IAC malfunction, a 22-gauge BD Angiocath Plus™ was more suitable for invasive blood pressure monitoring with Auto Transducer™ than a 20- or 24-gauge BD Angiocath Plus™. 925 Implementation of postpartum home blood pressure monitoring to reduce readmissions for hypertensive disorders of pregnancy

Postpartum readmissions due to hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (HDP) comprise over 50% of our monthly obstetrical readmissions. We sought to implement an evidence-based postpartum home blood pressure monitoring system to reduce postpartum readmissions due to HDP. This quality improvement initiative enrolled postpartum women with HDP or chronic hypertension. To enroll they also had to be English speaking and have access to text messaging. We utilized University of Pennsylvania’s Heart Safe Motherhood automated text-based platform which allowed providers to remotely monitor blood pressure and titrate medications for patients from discharge through 14 days post discharge. Our primary outcome measure was postpartum readmission due to HDP. We aimed to reduce preventable readmission rates due to HDP by 50%. In the four months following implementation (April 1– July 31, 2020) our overall 30-day readmission rate decreased from a baseline of 2.4% prior to implementation to 1.8% following implementation. The percentage of readmissions secondary to hypertension decreased by 24% between the two study timepoints (62.2% pre-implementation vs. 38.1% post-implementation, p=0.08; Figure 1). The majority of women readmitted were participating in home blood pressure monitoring at the time of their readmission (N= 13; 62%) and women with hypertensive disorders of pregnancy were most commonly readmitted due to worsening disease, such as gestational hypertension with subsequent development of preeclampsia with severe features (N=6; 75%). During the four months following implementation of a home blood pressure monitoring system, postpartum readmissions due to HDP were reduced by over a third. Although not statistically significant, this has a clinically significant impact on both patient and system levels. Additionally, the majority of the women readmitted were participating in home blood pressure monitoring suggesting that heightened surveillance and improved postpartum communication may identify at risk women triaging them for more urgent evaluation.

Battery-Less NFC Bicycle Tire Pressure Sensor Based on a Force-Sensing Resistor

This paper describes a novel low-cost tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) for bicycles. The system is based on a battery-less near field communication (NFC) tag that integrates a pressure sensor, which is placed between the tire and the inner tube. The system uses no battery since the energy is obtained from the magnetic field induced by the reader in order to establish the communication. The pressure can be read by any NFC-enabled reader such as a smartphone. The pressure sensor is a force-sensing resistor (FSR) that controls the oscillation frequency of a 555 timer-based oscillator. The frequency is read and computed by a microcontroller, and the result is written via I <sup xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">2</sup> C bus to the memory of a near-field communication integrated circuit (IC), which is read by a commercial smartphone or NFC reader. A prototype is designed on an FR4 substrate which integrates a 12 ×16 mm antenna connected to the NFC IC (NT3H211 from NXP). The proposed prototype has a 3D-printed enclosure to protect the components mounted on the surface of the PCB and to protect the tire from punctures. A system for characterizing the read range is presented. The tag requires a minimum magnetic field of 2.9 A <sub xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">RMS</sub> /m to operate up to a distance of 8 mm between reader and the tire, providing enough power to supply energy to the whole circuitry and to receive the information stored at the NFC IC. The system has been tested with a 59 mm-width mountain bike tire. The sensor has been characterized using a simple polynomial fitting to obtain the pressure from the measurement of the oscillation frequency. An accuracy of 0.1 has been accomplished in the range of 0.5 to 2.2 bar. To test the system, several inflation cycles have been performed and showed that the system presents good repeatability.

As you know, a radical means to prevent skidding of the vehicle (TK) during braking is the use of such integrated automatic active safety systems as anti-lock braking system (ABS), emergency brake booster, traction control system (TRC), electronic brake force distribution system EBD), stability control system (VSC), tire pressure monitoring system (TPWS), electronic control brake system (ECB), electric power steering (EPS), integrated dynamic vehicle control system (VDIM). Also, the stable position of the vehicle when driving on the road is provided by a set of automatic devices (for example dynamic stabilization system, anti-lock and anti-slip systems, etc.). Most of the cases of violation of the stable position of the vehicle on the road are related to the process of its braking. The article considers an alternative approach to stabilizing the position of the vehicle on the road during braking due to another approach to the management of its braking system. The mathematical description and schemes of position of the vehicle in the course of braking are offered. The stability of the position of the vehicle is ensured by braking the rear wheels, or braking one of the rear wheels (internal in relation to the direction of skidding), due to the system of dynamic stabilization of the course angle. Braking of the rear wheels during the initial skidding during braking allows you to stabilize the course angle of the vehicle (with full braking of the rear wheels, the stabilization time is minimal). This significantly reduces the braking efficiency of the vehicle, as only the front wheels are brake. Braking of only one rear wheel allows to provide identical duration of transition process at the highest efficiency of braking of the vehicle. On the example of a conventional vehicle, a comparative analysis of the effectiveness of the methods of dynamic stabilization of the course angle by braking one and two rear wheels.

Tyre Pressure Monitoring System

The Tyre Pressure Monitoring System which is used today indicates only whether the air pressure in any of the tyres is below a particular level of safety. This avoidable signal has made it possible for the statistical death rate to come up to 650 deaths per year. This project displays values through continuous monitoring. Therefore, this research proposed a method to cumulate the various factors of the tyre and to display it to the driver for a safer experience. The proposed TPMS has an electronic device unit that is attached to the tyre and transmits the values of the pressure, temperature, and the wheel alignment to the unit to be placed inside the vehicle, observable to the driver. This unit includes pressure sensors, microcontrollers, RF transmission, and batteries. An alert is introduced which indicates if the pressure exceeds the maximum or minimum safe pressure level. Several experiments have been carried out to analyze the proposed system. The integrated TPMS has proven to be an effective alternative to maintain the tyres and aims to improve the comfort and safety of the driver.

Performance Evaluation of Internet of Things Prototype for Preeclampsia Monitoring in Antenatal Care

Globally, Preeclampsia has been an alarming condition, thus creating a major concern in its prevention and monitoring. Software developers have implemented several Internet of Things systems to transform human society towards becoming convenient and efficient with maternal health benefits. Due to the freedom in developing these systems, evaluation of the systems’ performance must be addressed to enable this revolutionized transformation. Therefore, the study selected an already developed 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring system for preeclampsia management in antenatal care to represent other IoT systems in conducting the performance evaluation. A sample of fifty pregnant mothers was selected using purposive and simple random sampling to conduct the performance evaluation. The study used a total of 200 blood pressure readings from pregnant mothers. Consistency, response rate, accuracy, reliability, and output were the metrics used to evaluate the IoT based system’s performance. During performance evaluation, the study found out that the system achieved all the functionalities expected in its assessment. Therefore, the IoT based system has the potential to inform future antenatal practices.

An Intelligent Tire Pressure Monitoring System

Pressure of tire is measured using Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) model. By measuring the tire pressure, the fuel can be saved and the vehicle can be controlled in better way. TPMS consists of an electronic unit that sense the tire pressure displays it to user in a LABVIEW platform. This unit includes a pressure sensor and Data Acquisition System. The output of the pressure sensor is given to the Data Acquisition System. Then the DAQ is interfaced with PC to display the tire pressure in the dashboard using the LABVIEW platform. Non-invasive monitoring method for lower-leg compartment syndrome using a wireless sensor system and finite element analysis

In this study, a non-invasive pressure monitoring system that is portable and convenient was designed for detecting compartment syndrome. The system combines a wireless module and smartphone, which aids in the achievement of mHealth objectives, specifically, the continuous monitoring of the compartment pressure in patients. A compartment syndrome detecting method using a wireless sensor system and finite element analysis is developed and verified with an in vitro lower-leg model by rapid prototyping. The sensor system is designed to measure a five point pressure variation from the outside of the lower leg and transmit the data to a smartphone via Bluetooth. The analysis model based on the finite element method is employed to calculate the change of pressure and volume inside the four compartments of the lower leg. The in vitro experimental results show that the non-invasive detecting method can monitor the compartment pressure and provide a warning for the occurrence of compartment syndrome if the compartment pressure is higher than 30 mmHg. Furthermore, the theoretical simulation of the real lower leg shows similar trends to those of the in vitro experiments and can promptly detect the occurrence of compartment syndrome. Measured pressure values exceeding 6.3, 2.7, and 2.8 kPa for the three sensors contacting the outside centers of the superficial posterior, anterior, and lateral compartments, respectively, can indicate that each compartment contains a pressure higher than 30 mmHg. These results can provide a warning for the risk of compartment syndrome of each compartment. In addition, the measured values from the three sensors contacting the superficial posterior compartment at the outside center, close to the tibia, and close to the lateral compartment exceeding 1.8, 0.7, and 0.7 kPa, respectively, can indicate the risk of deep posterior compartment syndrome.

Wearable Wireless-Enabled Oscillometric Sphygmomanometer: A Flexible Ambulatory Tool for Blood Pressure Estimation.

This article presents the design of an unobtrusive and wireless-enabled blood pressure (BP) monitoring system that is suitable for ambulatory use. By adopting low-profile electromechanical actuators and a compact printed circuit board design, this lightweight device can be worn directly on the occlusive cuff, therefore eliminating the need of a long and obtrusive tubing interconnect between the device and the cuff, as seen in traditional ambulatory BP monitors (ABPM). Instead of executing the BP estimation algorithm directly on the device, the proposed design rather sends the raw oscillometric signal through a Bluetooth Low Energy link, thus granting any Bluetooth-enabled device to gather and process the signal using a dedicated application. This in turn allows to assess several BP estimation algorithms found in the literature without being limited by the device resources. Three of them were tested with the designed prototype and validated with a reference equipment on 11 subjects. Overall, two of the algorithms revealed a mean absolute difference with the reference equipment of less than 5mmHg and almost zero bias along with a standard deviation of less than 6mmHg. Reproducibility results shown a mean difference between successive measurements of less than 3.1mmHg and a standard deviation of less than 2.4mmHg. The assembled prototype dimensions are 63.8× 134.8× 24.8mm and features an autonomy of 63.1 hours. Comparison with commercial ABPM devices shown that the proposed design is 18% to 33% smaller volume-wise, 5% to 27% weight-wise and height is reduced by 17% to 25%.

Boiler Temperature and Pressure Monitoring System for Thermal Power Plant through LabVIEW

In the ongoing processes of the thermal power plant, temperature and pressure regulation and control is important. The complete process involves two main sections, such as a temperature- and pressure sensor, which is regulated with a real-time control program and therefore employing a temperature- and pressure sensors. Within this research, a temperature sensor and pressure sensor centered on the MEMS is developed for the sensing and monitoring of temperature and pressure, along with the use of LabVIEW. This study is mainly used in the thermal plants where the high-frequency wave is being emitted. Since the wireless data transfer is being distracted by these frequencies noise this study with the help of CAN is been implemented for the information sharing and with the help of LabVIEW the process takes place in the industry can be controlled from a single monitoring room which reduces the manpower.

Design and Fabrication of Temperature-Insensitive MEMS Pressure Sensor Utilizing Aluminum-Silicon Hybrid Structures

In order to meet the requirements for high sensitivity and low temperature drift of pressure sensors in the field of meteorological detection or tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), this paper proposes a MEMS chip-level pressure sensor based on two pairs of aluminum-silicon hybrid structures, which are etched on the SOI wafer. The pressure sensor achieves the amplified piezoresistive effect by the micron thick ohmic contact between the boron-doped silicon and external aluminum shunt, as verified by finite element numerical simulation and experiment. Four symmetrical L-shaped raised structures are distributed around the square strained membrane, which enhance the stress of the pair of stress-sensitive aluminum-silicon hybrid structures. The other pair of hybrid structures placed outside the strained membrane of the sensor chip enables differential sensor output which is highly insensitive to temperature. The offset drift of differential output is reduced to −4.39%FS compared with that of single aluminum-silicon hybrid structure. Cooperated with temperature compensation structures, an additional thermodynamic control system by using PID algorithm to keep the working temperature stable can eliminate the temperature drift of sensor output. The feasibility of the thermodynamic control system is verified by steady-state thermal simulation. Experiment test results show that the sensitivity of a single aluminum-silicon hybrid structure can reach 0.283 mV/V/kPa at constant heating temperature of 50 °C, and whose thermal coefficient of offset (TCO) can be reduced from −6.92E-1 to −1.51E-3 %FS/°C in ambient temperature ranges of −20 to 50 °C.
