As an important visualization tool, ultrasound has been widely used in airway management, providing an important assessment and monitoring approach to conduct integrated airway management. By summarizing and analyzing the new progress in the application of ultrasound in all aspects of airway management, this paper briefly describes the ultrasound anatomy of airway-related structures, and introduces the new application of ultrasound in nine major areas, such as the prediction of difficult airway, positioning of airway anatomy, assessment of gastric volume, prediction of successful extubation, selection of endotracheal tubes, and airway diagnostic tests. At present, the research of ultrasound in the airway is still being explored. The application of ultrasound in airway management is very promising, which may become an indispensable airway assessment tool in the future.
