Management of powdery mildew of linseed by using plant defence inducers

A field experiment was conducted during Rabi 2019-2020 at AICRP on Linseed and Mustard College of Agriculture Nagpur to study the impact of plant defence inducers product on disease control in linseed. Among the ten different treatment tested the standard check hexaconazole (0.1%) followed by Seed treatment with salicylic Acid at 100 ppm + Foliar spray of sodium propionate (1%) was found most effective in minimizing the severity of powdery mildew 25.68 % and 29.39% respectively and significantly superior. Seed treatment with salicylic Acid at 50 ppm + Foliar spray of sodium propionate (1%) and Seed treatment with salicylic Acid at 100 ppm + Foliar spray of salicylic acid at 100 ppm and were remain at par with each other in reducing the disease intensity over control (62.90%). Maximum seed yield 1334 kg/ha was obtained with hexaconazole (0.1%) followed by Seed treatment with salicylic Acid at 100 ppm + Foliar spray of sodium propionate (1%) (1210 kg/ha).The highest ICBR (5.68) was recorded with hexaconazole (0.1%) i.e. 8.87 followed by Seed treatment with salicylic Acid at 100 ppm + Foliar spray of sodium propionate(1%).

Management of Powdery Mildew on Ninebark Using Sanitizers, Biorational Products, and Fungicides

Ninebark (Physocarpus opulifolius) is a popular ornamental shrub and considered a hardy and tough plant that can thrive in different environmental conditions and resist diseases. However, powdery mildew, caused by Podosphaera physocarpi, can severelyaffect ninebark, deteriorating the ornamental value and making them unmarketable. Only a few studies have been done in managing powdery mildew of ninebark. The current study focuses on evaluating and identifying effective products (sanitizers, biorational products, and fungicides) for the management of powdery mildew disease of ninebark. A total of 12 treatments, including nontreated control, were studied. The experiment was arranged in randomized complete block design with four-single ‘Mindia Coppertina®’ ninebark plant per treatment and repeated twice. Powdery mildew disease severity, growth parameters, and phytotoxicity were assessed in the study. All treatments significantly reduced the powdery mildew disease severity and disease progress [area under disease progress curve (AUDPC)] compared with the nontreated control. The treatments, such as azoxystrobin + benzovindiflupyr at 0.17 and 0.23 g·L–1 total active ingredients (a.i.) applied, chlorothalonil + propiconazole at 1.12 mL·L–1 total a.i. applied, azoxystrobin + tebuconazole at 0.11 and 0.16 g·L–1 total a.i. applied, and giant knotweed extract [Reynoutria sachalinensis (0.5 mL·L–1 total a.i. applied)] were the most effective treatments in reducing disease severity and disease progress in both trials. The treatments had no significant effects on the plant growth parameters such as height and width. In Expt. 2, azoxystrobin + benzovindiflupyr and hydrogen peroxide + peroxyacetic acid treated plants showed the low level of phytotoxic symptoms. The phytotoxicity of these two treatments in Expt. 2 could be related to higher environmental temperature during the experimental period.

Crop Diversification to Control Powdery Mildew in Pea

Pea is a temperate grain legume cultivated worldwide that can be severely constrained by powdery mildew infection. Control by fungicides and the use of resistant cultivars is possible, but there is a growing interest in alternative control methods such as crop diversification, particularly in low input agriculture. The aim of this work was to assess the potential of intercropping pea with other crops and of pea cultivar mixtures for powdery mildew management on pea crop. Results show a reduction of powdery mildew on pea when intercropped by replacement at a 50:50 ratio with barley or with faba bean, but not when intercropped with wheat. A barrier effect seems to explain a major part of this decrease, especially in the pea/barley intercrop. This hypothesis was further supported by inoculated seedlings under controlled conditions, where powdery mildew infection on pea decreased with the distance to the inoculation point, this decrease being larger in the intercrop with barley than in the intercrop with wheat and in the pea monocrop. Powdery mildew was also reduced in the mixture of resistant and susceptible cultivars, with infection decreasing with the increasing proportions of the resistant one. Overall, this work shows that crop diversification may be a good strategy to reduce powdery mildew in pea.

Decision Trees to Forecast Risks of Strawberry Powdery Mildew Caused by Podosphaera aphanis

Powdery mildew (Podosphaera aphanis) is a major disease in day-neutral strawberry. Up to 30% yield losses have been observed in Eastern Canada. Currently, management of powdery mildew is mostly based on fungicide applications without consideration of risk. The objective of this study is to use P. aphanis inoculum, host ontogenic resistance, and weather predictors to forecast the risk of strawberry powdery mildew using CART models (classification trees). The data used to build the trees were collected in 2006, 2007, and 2008 at one experimental farm and six commercial farms located in two main strawberry-production areas, while external validation data were collected at the same experimental farm in 2015, 2016, and 2018. Data on proportion of leaf area diseased (PLAD) were grouped into four severity classes (1: PLAD = 0; 2: PLAD > 0 and <5%; 3: >5% and <15%; and 4: PLAD > 15%) for a total of 681 and 136 cases for training and external validation, respectively. From the initial 92 weather variables, 21 were selected following clustering. The tree with the best balance between the number of predictors and highest accuracy was built with: airborne inoculum concentration and number of susceptible leaves on the day of sampling, and mean relative humidity, mean daily number of hours at temperature between 18 and 30 °C, and mean daily number of hours at saturation vapor pressure between 10 and 25 mmHg during the previous 6 days. For training, internal validation, and external validation datasets, the sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy ranged from 0.70 to 0.90, 0.87 to 0.98, and 0.82 to 0.97, respectively. The classification rules to estimate strawberry powdery mildew risk can be easily implemented into disease decision support systems and used to treat only when necessary and thus avoid preventable yield losses and unnecessary treatments.

An Examination of Apple Powdery Mildew and the Biology of Podosphaera leucotricha from Past to Present

Within is a comprehensive review of current apple powdery mildew literature, with the taxonomy, morphology, and life cycle of the causal phytopathogen Podosphaera leucotricha described. A discussion of economic impact, environmental aspects contributing to apple powdery mildew epidemiology, options for cultural, chemical, and biopesticide disease control, and fungicide resistance in P. leucotricha is also detailed. The present status of breeding for host resistance and apple cultivar susceptibility is discussed. Finally, emerging research into the biology and management of apple powdery mildew is discussed along with how they may aid future research endeavors.

2019 Daniel McAlpine Memorial Lecture. Grapevine powdery mildew: from fundamental plant pathology to new and future technologies

Grapevine powdery mildew, caused by the fungus Erysiphe necator (formerly Uncinula necator), is a widespread disease which can reduce yield and quality of grapes and compromise wine quality. As an obligately biotrophic pathogen of a woody perennial crop, E. necator presents challenges for researchers studying aspects of biology, epidemiology and management. The disease can be difficult to detect, especially in the early stages, as signs and symptoms are often inconspicuous. Failure to control powdery mildew early, inadequate spray coverage and or fungicide resistance may lead to significant damage. Because of the negative effects of disease on wine quality, many wineries set thresholds for acceptability of grapes for winemaking, typically 3–5% of the surface area of bunches affected. This is usually determined by visual inspection in the vineyard close to harvest or at the winery. Visual assessment is subjective and prone to inaccuracy, and the wine industry seeks a rapid and reliable objective measure for disease severity. In this paper, I describe some of the challenges of research on the biology and management of grapevine powdery mildew and how these have been addressed using fundamental approaches in plant pathology. Recent research towards development of objective measures is presented and technologies that have potential for application in the vineyard or winery in the future to facilitate disease diagnosis, quantification and management are considered.

Chemical management of powdery mildew caused by Erysiphe polygoni DC on Urdbean and its economic analysis

Powdery mildew of Urdbean caused by Erysiphe polygoni DC is one of the major constraints in the production, which cause both qualitative and quantitative loss of grains. In the present study we have evaluated the efficacy of fungicides for managing powdery mildew of urdbean. The fungicides Penconazole 10% EC (@ 0.25 ml/ L, 0.5 ml/L, 1.0 ml/ L and 1.50 ml/ L), Hexaconazole 5% SC @ 1.0 ml/ L, Difenoconazole25% EC@ 0.50 ml/L and Captan 70% + Hexaconazole 5% WP @ 1.25 g /L were evaluated for their bio-efficacy against powdery mildew of Urdbean. Pooled data of experiments conducted at MARS, UAS, Dharwad for two years during 2017 and 2018 revealed that, all the chemicals were found effective in reducing the severity of the disease and their by increasing the urdbean yield. Among them, Penconazole 10% EC @ 1.5 ml/L was found to be the most effective in managing the powdery mildew of urdbean (9.91 PDI) and which is on par with Penconazole 10% EC @ 1.0 ml/L recorded powdery mildew severity of 10.15 PDI. Penconazole 10% EC @ 0.50 ml/L (11.93 PDI) was the next best treatment followed by Difenconazole 25% EC@ 0.50 ml/ L (13.25 PDI) and Hexaconazole 5% SC @ ml/L (13.54 PDI) when compared to untreated control which has recorded the maximum PDI of 66.90. Significantly the highest seed yield of 686.20 kg/ha was observed with Penconazole 10% EC @ 1.5 ml/L with B:C ratio of 2.20 followed by Penconazole 10% EC @ 1.0 ml/L (683.00 kg/ha) with maximum B: C ratio of 2.22 compared to least seed yield of 308.83 kg/ha in untreated control with least B:C of 1.06. Thus the dose of Penconazole10% EC @ 1 ml per liter of water was found to be the minimum dose required for better management of the powdery mildew disease in urdbean.

Novel management strategy to minimize the growing threat of fruit rot and powdery mildew diseases of chilli (Capsicum annuum) in India

Chilli (Capsicum annuum L.), is severely infected by anthracnose (Colletotrichum capsici) and powdery mildew (Leveillula taurica), which significantly reduces the quality and yield of chilli in India, especially in the recent years. The concern of modern plant breeding for improvement of new varieties with escape behavior to diseases or genetic resistance, but currently, the use of chemicals offers a practical and rapid solution to combat the disease outbreaks. Compounds having a novel mode of action are of special interest, since they play a key role in resistance management strategies with enhanced characteristics such as systemicity and longer protection period in plant disease management. In the present study, an experiment was conducted for the management of fruit rot and powdery mildew in chilli at Horticulture Research and Extension Center, Devihosur, Haveri, Karnataka, India. Fluxapyroxad 250 g/l + Pyraclostrobin 250 g/l 500 SC @ 0.05% recorded significantly least per cent disease index and significantly highest dry yield of chilli compared to all other treatments. It has also recorded significant improvement in quality parameters such as increase in capsanthin and capsaicin content along with improved plant health characters such as prolonged greening and greater dry mater production. The untreated check recorded significantly highest per cent disease index and least dry yield of chilli. The technical feature of this fungicide will provide useful information for stakeholder for target specific action against anthracnose and powdery mildew diseases along with improved plant health, quality and increase in yield.

IDM practices for the management of foliar diseases of sesame (Sesamum indicum L.)

Sesame (Sesamum indicum L.) is the most ancient and important oilseed crop, with rich source of protein, high quality seed oil and many antioxidant properties is extensively grown in India. Occurrence of foliar diseases are Alternaria leaf spot and powdery mildew become a major constraint in recent years for successful and profitable cultivation of sesame. Field experiment was conducted on integrated disease management practices to combat foliar diseases and to increase the seed yield of sesame during two consecutive years (2015 and 2016) at Regional Research Station, Vridhachalam, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Tamil Nadu. Integrated management of Alternaria leaf spot and powdery mildew of sesame were conducted with eight treatments. Among the different treatments tested in field condition, the minimum incidence of Alternaria leaf spot (15.14 % and 13.72%) with higher yield of 642 kg/ha and 657 kg/ha were recorded in seed treatment with T. viride @ 10 g/kg + furrow application of T. viride (2.5 kg/ha enriched in 100 kg of FYM) @ 250 kg/ha + foliar spray of myclobutanil @ 1 g/l during Kharif 2015 and 2016.The reduction of Alternaria leaf spot was also directly associated with an increase in seed yield. In case of powdery mildew, the minimum incidence 5.83 and 9.65 PDI with higher yield of 642 kg/ha and 657 kg/ha were recorded in Kharif - 2015 and 2016 with spray of myclobutanil 10% WP @ 1 g/l.

Management of powdery mildew of cluster bean through fungi toxicants

Leveillula taurica causes severe powdery mildew on all aerial parts of cluster bean plant. The objective of the present work was to identify potential methods for managing cluster bean powdery mildew through fungicides. Field trials were conducted during Kharif 2019 and 2020 to evaluate the efficacy fungicides. Nine systemic fungicides were tested both under in-vitro and in-vivo conditions against cluster bean powdery mildew disease. In vitro evaluation of fungicides revealed that complete inhibition of conidial germination was observed in all systemic fungicides at 0.1 per cent concentration. However, under field conditions, penconazole at 0.05 per cent was found to be best fungicide which recorded least incidence 3.66 per cent followed by hexaconazole (5.83%) and propiconazole (6.83%).

Bio-Efficacy of Milastin-K (Bacillus subtilis KTSB 1015 1.5 A.S.) as a Biofungicide for Management of Powdery Mildew Disease in Grapes under Field Conditions

Field bio-efficacy of Milastin-K (Bacillus subtilis KTSB-1015 1.5% A.S.) was conducted for the management of powdery mildew in grapes at National Research Centre for Grapes, Pune. Results compiled indicated that Milastin-K alone at 1.0 l/L and 2.0 ml/L sprayings (six) gave about 51.18% and 58.85% reduction in powdery mildew incidence respectively. Similarly, Milastin-K sprayings gave upto 22.48% higher yield over sulphur treatment. Likewise, four sprayings of systemic fungicides belonging to trizole group and then two spraying of Milastin-K @ 2.0 ml/L showed 99.98% control of powdery mildew on leaves and 92.31% control on bunches and increase in yield by 63.32% over sulphur treatment. Similarly, there was no any abnormality and phytotoxic effect observed by spraying Milastin-Kupto 2.0 ml/L alone or if sprayed after trizole fungicides. Therefore, Milastin-K a bio-fungicide fits well in integrated disease management and may be useful for export grape cultivation.

Management of powdery mildew, caused by Erysiphe cruciferarum, on wasabi (Wasabia japonica) plants in British Columbia

Powdery mildew on wasabi (Wasabia japonica (Miq.) Matsumura)plants reduces photosynthesis and severe infections can result in chlorosis and defoliation, resulting in reduced yields. Erysiphe cruciferarum Opiz ex L. Junell was confirmed as the causal agent using sequence analysis of the ITS1-5.8 S-ITS2 region, along with conidial and conidiophore morphology. To evaluate reduced-risk management options, the efficacy of four commercially available products was assessed over three separate trials conducted in a commercial wasabi greenhouse in British Columbia. The products tested included two biological pesticides, Bacillus subtilis strain QST 713 (formulated as Rhapsody ASO), and Streptomyces lydicus strain WYEC 108 (formulated as Actinovate SP), as well as a copper-based fungicide, Cueva, and a plant formulated extract, Regalia Maxx (from Reynoutria sachalinensis). Treatments were applied at two-week intervals over 10–12 weeks starting with onset of disease symptoms. Natural infection by E. cruciferarum was allowed to progress on the plants during the trials. Leaves were assessed for powdery mildew biweekly based on percentage of leaf surface infected, which was then converted to area under the disease progress curve (AUDPC) for each treatment. Five to six applications of Cueva and Regalia significantly (p < 0.05) reduced the progression of powdery mildew in all trials. Rhapsody also reduced disease progression in some trials, but to a lesser extent. Actinovate was not effective. These results provide producers of wasabi with reduced-risk options for management of powdery mildew.

Management of powdery mildew (Erysiphe cichoracearum) of okra by using low profile chemicals

Okra (Abelmoschus esculentus (L.) Moench is one of the most popular vegetable belonging to the family Malvaceae and has its special place in Indian food habit. The field experiment was carried out to study the efficacy of different low profile chemicals against powdery mildew (Erysiphe cichoracearum) of okra in Randomized Block Design (RBD) with nine treatments (Seven low profile chemicals, one standard check and one control) and three replications were adopted. The disease management studies showed that all the low profile chemicals evaluated in field condition against powdery mildew significantly reduced disease intensity over water sprayed control. Chlorine dioxide @ 0.2 per cent gave significant reduction in powdery mildew disease incidence on okra with PDI in the range of (6.90 to 21.27%) and maximum disease control (PDC) about 59.09 to 66.43 per cent followed by hexaconazole (0.1%) and Ampelomyces quisqualis (0.3%). Chlorine dioxide (0.2%) gave significantly highest yield (22.65 t/ha) in comparison to check (14.39 t/ha). Minimum infection rate ‘r’ of 0.29 and lowest AUDPC value (410.7) were observed in chlorine dioxide (0.2%).

POWDERY MILDEW (ODIUM LINI) AND PASMO (SEPTORIA LINICOLA) COMBINED EFFECT ON YIELD, YIELD COMPONENTS OF LINSEED (LINUM USITATISSIMUM L.)

Linseed (Linum usitatissimum L.) has been traditional oil crop of Ethiopia and it is the third most important oilseeds in the higher altitudes. It is the leading oil crop in Bale highlands in terms of its area of production and productivity. Regardless of the potential for linseed production; diseases are the major yield limiting factors in Ethiopia. Pasmo (Septoria linicola) and powdery mildew (Odium lini) are among the most important diseases associated with linseed production. This experiment is intended to develop an option for the management of these major diseases. The experiment was conducted for three years in two locations. An improved linseed variety ‘‘Dibene’’ and a local cultivar were planted in RCB design with three replications. At Sinana On-station, ANOVA has depicted that for pasmo disease there was statistically significant (P&lt;0.05) variation among treatments. The highest disease severity of 23.46% and the lowest 12.96% were recorded from local cultivar without fungicide spray and ‘Dibene’ variety sprayed at seven days interval, respectively. Similarly, statistically justifiable variations (P&lt;0.05) were observed for Powdery mildew. The highest and the lowest powdery mildew severities of 46.3% and 22.84 % were recorded from local cultivar without fungicide spray and ‘Dibene’ variety sprayed at seven days interval, respectively. Similarly, ANOVA have depicted that there are significant difference (P&lt;0.05) between treatments for thousand seed weigh (TSW) and grain yields. The highest and lowest TSW of 6.73g and 6.07g were recorded from ‘Dibene’ variety sprayed at twenty one days local cultivar without fungicide spray, respectively. Whereas, the highest and lowest grain yield of 2859.30kg/ha and 2316.8kg/ha was obtained from ‘Dibene’ variety sprayed at fourteen days (14) days and local cultivar without fungicide spray. Similarly, the result follows the same trend at welte’i berisa. ANAVA have shown that there application of a fungicide have made a significant difference (P&lt;0.05) between treatments for TSW and grain yield. The highest and lowest TSW of 5.87gand 5.27g was recorded from ‘Dibene’ variety sprayed at twenty one days interval and local cultivar without fungicide spray, respectively. In case of grain yield, the largest and smallest grain yield of 1733.6kg/ha and 1045.6kg/ha were obtained from ‘Dibene’ variety sprayed at fourteen days days interval and the local cultivar without fungicide spray, respectively. Therefore, One to two times spray of a fungicide Odeon (Chlorothalonil) at a rate of 2.5 kg/ha and at an interval of 14 days is recommended for the management of Powdery mildew and Pasmo diseases on linseed.

Assortment for host resistance and eco-friendly management of mulberry powdery mildew caused by Phyllactinia corylea (Pers.) Karst

Powdery mildew caused by Phyllactinia corylea (Pers.) Karst, is an obligate parasitic disease of mulberry inflicting considerable qualitative as well as quantitative losses of leaf yield. Screening of 16 mulberry varieties against powdery mildew disease under field conditions yielded two resistant varieties with the lower powdery mildew disease severity of 2.5 and 5.42 per cent in a variety S-13 and in variety S-34 had 3 and 5.37 per cent after 55 and 70 days after planting respectively. The three varieties viz., Kanva-2 / M-5, Mysore local and S-1635 were moderately resistant with the less DS values of 11.43, 11.47 and 11.48 per cent respectively. In management studies, the plant extracts at all concentrations tested were effective in suppressing the disease and at higher concentration of 15%, Zinger officinale reduced the disease to 60.31 per cent and Lantana camara to 59.04 per cent disease over control and were considered as best for managing powdery mildew disease in mulberry. Among the culture filtrate of different bioagents tested, the Trichoderma harzianum reduced the disease to 51.56 per cent and Pseudomonas fluorescens to 51.09 per cent over control at 15% concentration and were shown to be potent in fading away the disease.

Effects of elevated atmospheric CO2 and temperature on the management of powdery mildew of zucchini

AbstractThe impact of combined environmental factors, such as temperature and CO2, on the control of the powdery mildew of zucchini, caused by Podosphaera xanthii, and of different control measures has been studied on plants grown in phytotrons. Five experimental trials were conducted, and the powdery mildew severity of both treated and untreated zucchini plants was found to be significantly affected by the interaction between temperature (three different regimes: 16–18; 18–22; 22–26°C), CO2 (two concentrations: 400–450 and 800–850 ppm) and the treatments. However, at the end of the trials, the efficacy of all the products was not affected by the different, tested environmental conditions. Sulphur consistently provided the highest disease control (75%–85% efficacy). Among the resistant inducers that were tested, calcium oxide was the most effective, in terms of powdery mildew control under all the conditions tested in phytotrons, reducing disease severity from 46% to 61%. Foliar applications of phosphite (14%–28% efficacy), Ampelomyces quisqualis (12%–23% efficacy) and potassium silicate (13%–24% efficacy) only slightly reduced the disease severity for all the tested temperature regimes and CO2 concentrations, compared to the untreated control. The results obtained under our experimental conditions show that a possible increase in CO2 concentration and temperature, which is expected for the next few years, should not influence the efficacy of the tested resistance inducers or of sulphur against powdery mildew on zucchini. Moreover, the suppressive effect of calcium oxide is in light of its possible use in greenhouses for zucchini powdery mildew control under 400–450 ppm of CO2 and under enriched condition of 800–850 ppm of CO2.

Management of powdery mildew on greenhouse cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) plants using biological and chemical approaches

Powdery mildew, caused by Podosphaera xanthii (U. Braun & Shishkoff), is a widespread disease on greenhouse cucumber in many countries, including Canada. The efficacy of seven biological or chemical products to manage powdery mildew was evaluated. These included Rhapsody® (Bacillus subtilis Ehrenberg strain QST 713), Microflora PROTM (B. subtilis, Bacillus amyloliquefaciens Priest et al., Bacillus pumilus Meyer & Gottheil), Prestop® (Gliocladium catenulatum J.C. Gilman & E.V. Abbott strain J1446), Double Nickel LC (B. amyloliquefaciens strain D747), Active Flower™ (fertilizer containing N:P:K of 8:4:12 plus 3% boron), Luna® (fluopyram and pyrimethanil) and Pristine® (pyraclostrobin and boscalid). Products were applied as preventative or eradicative treatments at weekly intervals to the moderately susceptible cucumber cultivars ‘Picowell RZ’ or ‘Tasty Green’. Disease severity was rated after 3–4 applications as the number of colonies that developed on leaves, or as a percentage of leaf area infected calculated using image analysis. Rhapsody at a rate of 1.5% provided the most significant disease reduction compared with the other three biological products, although rates of 2% and 4% also resulted in high disease suppression in a second experiment. The fungicides Luna (0.5 mL L−1) and Pristine (0.66 g L−1) provided a level of control comparable to Rhapsody. Application of ActiveFlower at 0.5 and 0.3 mL 100 mL−1 significantly reduced powdery mildew after three applications, but some phytotoxicity was observed at the higher rate. The products tested in this study can be part of an integrated powdery mildew management programme for greenhouse cucumber.

Yield enhancement in mango crop with effective management of leaf hoppers and powdery mildew

A Front line demonstration was conducted on Management of leaf hoppers and powdery mildew in Mango crop at farmers fields of Nagarkurnool district, Telangana during the year 2016-17 to 2017-18. The main objective of front line demonstrations (FLDs) was to demonstrate study the efficacy of plant protection aspects for getting the higher yields. The demonstration comprised of two treatments viz., T1- Farmers practice (Sprayed Acephate 75% SP 1.5 gm/lt, Profenophos 50% EC 2ml/lt.of water) and T2-Demonstartion (Sprayed Thiomethoxam 25% WG 0.3 gm/l + Wettable Sulphur 90% WDG 3g/l at flower initiation stage and Imidacloprid 17.8% SL 0.3 ml + Hexaconazole 5% EC 2 ml/ lt at bud formation to marble fruit stage).The results showed that drastically reduced the average incidence leaf hoppers and powdery mildew. In demo only 10.50% and in farmers practice 22.50% of incidence of leaf hoppers and powdery mildew was observed. The cumulative effects of technological intervention over two years, revealed that mean average fruit yield was 108.92 q/ha under demo and 94.27 q/ha in compared to farmers practice. Net returns and B: C ratios were found to increase in demonstrated plots over farmers practice.
