Treatment of Na 2[ closo-B 12H 12] with one mole equivalent of (PMe 2Ph) 2PdCl 2 in THF at room temperature formed Na[ closo-(PMe 2Ph)-B 12H 11], 1,7- and 1,12-(PMe 2Ph) 2- closo-B 12H 10 in moderate yield. Reaction of K[ nido-7,8-C 2B 9H 12] with one half a mole equivalent of (PMe 2Ph) 2PdCl 2 in CH 2Cl 2 at room temperature formed a mixture of 9-PMe 2Ph- nido-7,8-C 2B 9H 11 and 10-PMe 2Ph- nido-7,8-C 2B 9H 11 in overall good yield. Single-crystal X-ray structures of 1,7-(PMe 2Ph) 2- closo-B 12H 10 and 9-PMe 2Ph- nido-7,8-C 2B 9H 11 are reported.
