A Rapid Method for Analysis of Spirographic Tracings in Pulmonary Function Testing

1. A method is described for more rapid and efficient analysis of spirographic tracings utilizing a new transparent plastic slide rule and tables prepared for direct conversion of millimeter measurements of spirographic tracings into actual volumes and flow rates. 2. This method provides simpler and slightly more accurate measurements of spirographic tracings, eliminates much calculation, and allows the use of unlined and much less expensive spirographic paper in carrying out these tests.

INFLUENCE OF GROUND WATER LEVEL ON VELOCITY OF LANDSLIDE

The groundwater level in a landslide zone has a significant influence on the velocity of landslide. It is known that rise of groundwater level causes the increase of the velocity, whereas the level a drop offects reversely.This paper describes the relationship between the groundwater level and the valocity which was obtained by anlysis of the fundamental equation of plastic slide taking the effect of plastic resistance of the clay that exists at the plane of slide into consideration.It shows that the drainge works usually executed in landslide zones to lower the groundwater level should have quite satisfactory function to prevent landslides.
