Issues of the Russian liquefied natural gas market in the context of sanctions pressure and ways to solve them

Liquefied natural gas export is currently a rather promising sector of the Russian fuel and energy complex. Gas transportation by special gas carriers makes it possible to supply the resource independently of the pipeline system. In recent years, the liquefied natural gas market role has been significant for the Russian economy. This industry has not been subject to significant export restrictions by other countries, unlike pipeline gas exports. However, under the conditions of sanctions imposed by “unfriendly” countries on the supply of technologies and equipment required for liquefied natural gas production and transportation, not only the industry development, but also implementation of the Energy Strategy of the Russian Federation for the period up to 2035 is threatened, especially major projects implementation on the Arctic coast of the country. All of the above speaks for the relevance of the study, the objectives of which are to assess the Russian market of liquefied natural gas in the context of the introduced technological restrictions, to identify the key problems arising as a result of this unfavorable situation and to determine the directions for the industry further development.

In‐Pipe Maintenance Robot Using Spray‐In‐Place Pipe Technique for Long‐Distance and Complex Pipe Environment

ABSTRACTConventional pipe rehabilitation technologies are not the most sustainable solution for the utility industry because of various drawbacks, such as time consumption, disturbance to operations, society, and traffic, and the production of waste material. However, aged underground metal pipes are affected by natural forces. Trenchless rehabilitation technologies have been introduced for the treatment and renovation of aged pipes to ensure that utilities are safe and durable from an economic perspective. This paper proposes a portable and automatic robotic solution for a trenchless spray‐in‐place pipe approach for small underground pipelines. This approach shortens the duration of the rehabilitation operation from approximately a week to < 5 h. The robot delivered and monitored a protective well‐mixed urethane coating with plural components accurately using rotary mixing and spraying with a low‐pressure and safer configuration (< 0.8 MPa). The robot exhibited superior capacities in complicated pipe environments for turning into 90° elbows and 6‐in. (150 mm), 8‐in. (200 mm), and 10‐in. (250 mm) pipelines. An automated robot was deployed and rehabilitated at various underground and on‐ground pipe sites. The spray performance was validated using tensile tests. This robot can be applied to any pipeline system and can be developed for other in‐pipe robotic construction and renovation approaches.

Dynamic fluid flow model for phosphate slurry pipeline: OCP main pipeline as case study

The transportation of phosphate slurry through large-scale pipelines presents significant challenges due to the complex behavior of multiphase flows, particularly with varying solid content, density, and dynamic viscosity. Efficient and accurate prediction of flow behavior is critical for optimizing the operation of such pipelines. This work aims to develop a dynamic computational model to simulate phosphate slurry flow in pipelines. The case study focuses on the OCP Group’s main slurry pipeline, which links the mining sites at Khouribga to the industrial plants at Jorf Lasfar, Morocco. This pipeline system spans a total length of 187.124 km, consisting of 5237 pipes with an inner diameter ranging from 0.8546 m to 0.8578 m, and features several elevation changes along its ground level. Using a section-averaged, dynamic approach and the Finite Volume scheme, the model computes essential flow parameters, including density, dynamic viscosity, and pressure, for the incompressible and non-Newtonian slurry and process water flows. The model’s accuracy is validated against on-site measured data, showing an average deviation of ±0.32% for outlet density, and below 10% for pressure along the pipeline, underscoring the model’s reliability. Additionally, a sensitivity analysis was conducted to illustrate the impact of key parameters on the predicted head losses and pressures along the pipeline. This analysis shows that the slurry viscosity is the most critical parameter, significantly influencing these predictions. This model provides high accuracy and reasonable CPU time for real-time simulation and monitoring, while also offering significant potential for optimizing pipeline operations and ensuring the reliability of phosphate transport.

Research and Application of Online Electromagnetic Heating System with Internal Penetration in Oil Pipeline at Well Site

Abstract In response to the current situation of heating crude oil in the oil pipeline of Changqing Oilfield, most of the well sites have no associated gas, gas heating furnaces have been discontinued, and coal-fired heating furnaces pollute the environment. A study was conducted on the online through type heating system for the oil pipeline in the well site, with a focus on the composition and function of the digital heating system for the through type oil pipeline in the well site. The through type online heating system for the oil pipeline in the well site is mainly composed of a variable frequency electromagnetic controller The online controller and internal heating cable are composed of three parts. The oil pipeline generates heat by itself, while preventing the crystallization of paraffin and scale in the oil pipeline under the action of alternating electromagnetic fields, which is not easy to form wax. In 2023, on-site application was carried out on two oil pipelines in the Tongzhai operation area of the Third Oil Production Plant in Changqing Oilfield, replacing the existing gas heating furnaces and coal-fired heating furnaces to heat and transport crude oil in the oil pipelines. It does not generate heat itself and has a long service life. Due to the high thermal efficiency of the heat source coming from the inside of the oil pipeline, the buried pipeline renovation can be installed without breaking the soil. The flexible internal cable reduces the difficulty of construction and is safe and environmentally friendly, At the same time, it can remotely monitor the temperature of crude oil in the oil pipeline and the wellhead backpressure online.

Research on Crude Oil Transportation Technology of Hu-Huan Pipeline in Huanqing Block

Abstract This study comprehensively analyzes the performance of the Hu-Huan-Huan Pipeline (Hu-Huan Pipeline) in the Huanqing Block under different crude oil transportation processes, especially the additive-modified transportation process and the blank oil transportation process. Through in-depth analysis of the properties of additive-modified crude oil, simulation tests, and hydraulic and thermal calculations, it aims to solve the transportation challenges of the Hu-Huan Pipeline under extreme environmental conditions and ensure the safety, efficiency, and economy of pipeline operations. Research results show that the additive-modified transportation process can significantly improve the fluidity of crude oil and enhance transportation capacity and safety. Adding an appropriate amount of additives can reduce the viscosity of crude oil, reduce internal friction in the pipeline, and improve fluid movement efficiency, thereby effectively reducing transmission pressure loss and increasing transportation stability. In contrast, although the blank oil delivery process is feasible under certain conditions, it has limitations under extreme conditions. The viscosity of blank oil is high and it is easy to form scaling on the inner walls of pipelines, which increases the frequency of pipeline cleaning and maintenance, and also increases operating costs and risks. By comparing and analyzing the performance of the two processes, the best transportation strategies and suggestions for Hu-ring pipelines are put forward. For the additive-modified transportation process, it is recommended to add additives appropriately and optimize transportation parameters to ensure stable transportation of crude oil and safe operation of the pipeline system. For the blank oil transportation process, it is recommended to clean and maintain the pipeline regularly to reduce the occurrence of scaling and blockage and improve the reliability and sustainability of the system. In summary, this study provides an important reference for the optimized operation of similar pipeline systems in the future. By fully considering the impact of crude oil performance and transportation technology, pipeline transportation efficiency can be effectively improved, operational risks can be reduced, and the safety and sustainability of energy transportation can be ensured.

Multi-physics coupled simulation and experimental investigation of alternating stray current corrosion of buried gas pipeline adjacent to rail transit system

As the gradual emergence of alternating current (AC) electrified rail transit system in urban areas, buried gas pipeline adjacent to the system will be seriously corroded by induced alternating stray current. These buried gas pipelines are at serious risk of electrochemical corrosion, which leads to safety and environmental threaten. In order to study the distribution of alternating stray current corrosion on pipeline surface on a larger spatial scale, this paper conducted numerical simulation and experimental validation of alternating stray current corrosion of buried gas pipeline. In the numerical simulation model, coupling between different physical fields are realized through the relationship between current density of pipe-to-soil interface, electrolyte, and electrodes. Proposed numerical method based on coupled multi-physics in this paper are in good agreement with experimental results under different influencing factors. A novel evaluation index was proposed to assess the corrosion risk within different zones on the pipeline surface. Results show that corrosion distribution is greatly influenced by spatial interaction between buried pipeline and rail transit system including crossing angle and parallel distance. Besides, alternating stray current corrosion on buried gas pipeline are proved to be both affected by dynamic characteristics due to AC fluctuation and operation mode of locomotive.

Internal Corrosion Control Strategy of Oil Gathering and Transportation Pipeline

Abstract Internal corrosion and perforation of metal pipelines is the main reason for failure of gathering and transportation pipelines in a western oil field. The content of Cl-in the transport medium of the oilfield is between 24910-118051mg/l, the total salinity is between 65404-39363mg/l, the reduced sulfur content is between 6-36mg/l, and the number of SRBS is between 20-300 /ml, which are the main factors leading to corrosion in the pipeline. Through investigation, demonstration and field test, the internal corrosion control technology system of pipeline has been formed, which includes internal extrusion coating, internal penetration, 32MPa high pressure flexible composite pipe, polyethylene lined FRP composite pipe technology. The internal corrosion control strategy has been popularized in oil field, and the effect is good.

Signals denoising of leakage pressure in water supply pipelines using an improved wavelet filter algorithm

Abstract Accurate identification of leakage pressure signal is crucial for leakage detection and location of water supply pipelines. However, there is a lot of noise signals in the negative pressure waves generated during leakage accidents, making it difficult to identify leakage signals, and thus seriously affecting the accuracy of leakage detection. Therefore, in this study, we carried out leakage test of water transmission pipeline on our self-built test platform for transient flow with long-distance water transmission pipeline (pipeline length is 160 m, and diameter is 100 mm), and obtained the transient leakage pressure signals under various flow rates (15–55 m3/h). An improved wavelet filtering algorithm was proposed to filter the leakage pressure signal by optimizing the calculation of decomposition layers and the threshold processing strategy, and then compared with the traditional wavelet filtering method. The results show that the improved algorithm can denoise the leakage signals effectively, and the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), mean square error (MSE) and mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) are all superior to those of the traditional wavelet algorithm. The results can provide support for leakage detection and location of water supply pipeline systems.

Optimizing pipeline task-oriented dialogue systems using post-processing networks

Many studies have proposed methods for optimizing the dialogue performance of an entire pipeline task-oriented dialogue system by jointly training modules in the system using reinforcement learning. However, these methods are limited in that they can only be applied to modules implemented using trainable neural-based methods. To solve this problem, we propose a method for optimizing the dialogue performance of a pipeline system that consists of modules implemented with arbitrary methods for dialogue. With our method, neural-based components called post-processing networks (PPNs) are installed inside such a system to post-process the output of each module. All PPNs are updated to improve the overall dialogue performance of the system by using reinforcement learning, not necessitating that each module be differentiable. Through dialogue simulations and human evaluations on two well-studied task-oriented dialogue datasets, CamRest676 and MultiWOZ, we show that our method can improve the dialogue performance of pipeline systems consisting of various modules. In addition, a comprehensive analysis of the results of the MultiWOZ experiments reveals the patterns of post-processing by PPNs that contribute to the overall dialogue performance of the system.

Monitoring and Analysis of Human Activities Using Heterogeneous Sensors in the Gas Room of a Hospital

Every hospital relies on the gas pipeline system. There are common three types of gases are used: oxygen, nitrogen, and nitrous oxide. Each type of gas is critical in many departments, including the operating room and intensive care unit. Gas room administrators, such as engineers or hospital personnel, are just as important as gas rooms. If something happens to engineers or personnel, an unattended gas room may malfunction and cause trouble in the hospital. Therefore, we proposed a monitoring system with a human activity surveillance project using accelerometer sensors, video images, and gas sensors. This system can collect all the signals used for the analysis of the posture or activities of the personnel who examine the gas in the gas room. We also developed surveillance in the event of an unexpected event in the gas room.

Optimizing Real-Time Data Pipelines for Machine Learning: A Comparative Study of Stream Processing Architectures

Within the time of enormous information and real-time analytics, optimizing information pipelines for machine learning is basic for convenient and exact bits of knowledge. This consideration analyzes the execution and versatility of Apache Kafka Streams, Apache Flink, and Apache Pulsar in real-time machine-learning applications. In spite of the wide use of these innovations, there's a need for comprehensive comparative examination with respect to their productivity in commonsense scenarios. This inquiry about addresses this crevice by giving a point-by-point comparison of these systems, centering on idleness, throughput, and asset utilization. Assessment of Power Equipment Operational Safety in the Sustainable Management of Residual Lifespan

Introduction. Ensuring the safe operation of energy facilities is a critical issue at all life cycle stages. It is associated with the adoption of management decisions when rescheduling and assessing the remaining resources, which are made based on a comprehensive assessment of the technical condition of the equipment, taking into account the economic efficiency and environmental requirements for further operation, which is the basis for technical and economic assessments. Aim and tasks. This study aims to develop a technical and economic assessment of the safe operation of power equipment to ensure sustainable management of the remaining service lifespan. Results. An algorithm for assessing pipeline system elements by the coolant environment is proposed, which allows for the pipeline load and changes in erosion and corrosion caused by coolant movement. It was proposed that the equipment be systematised by safety class and coolant. When conducting a technical and economic assessment, these parameters and the costs of extending the service life and upgrading the existing equipment were considered in the standard calculations of a certain type of equipment. For this purpose, mathematical models for calculating the residual life for each type, obtained and confirmed based on empirical studies, are proposed. Research findings into ensuring the reliability and safety of operation with various heat carriers have shown that it is necessary to consider low-cycle and high-cycle loads and erosion processes. It was found that the erosive wear rate is 0.3-0.4 mm/year for bending sections of the main circulation pipeline, where maximum loads occur relative to low-cycle and vibration loads, and the stress is 212.5 MPa when assessing the residual life of 7 years. Conclusions. The cost-effectiveness of reassigning the service life is reasonable, as it does not require additional investment in upgrading or replacing equipment subject to annual technical diagnostics. The systematisation of pipelines, improved codifiers, lifespan assessment models, and algorithms for evaluating the remaining life under various loadings enhance the regulatory framework for safe nuclear power plant operations and support technical and economic evaluations for extending their lifespan.

Corrosion-mechanical destruction of bainite structures in oilfield environments

The main direction in solving the problem of increasing the reliability of field equipment, is the creation of new steels with higher resistance to corrosion-mechanical destruction. Currently, to produce oil and gas pipeline systems, low-carbon, low-alloy steels are used, in which lath carbide-free bainite is formed when quenched in water. Such a structure provides a combination of high strength and resistance to brittle fracture. However, issues of increasing corrosion resistance are still open. The purpose of this work is to identify the structural condition of low-carbon, low-alloy, pipe steels, providing a combination of high mechanical properties with increased corrosion resistance in oilfield environments. The studies were carried out on the latest generation 08KhFA, 08KhFMA and 05KhGB steels, most popular when manufacturing oil and gas pipelines. Samples for the study were cut from the pipes and quenched from the austenite region in water, which formed the structure of lath carbide-free bainite. The quenched samples were tempered at temperatures of 200, 300, 400, 500, 600, and 700°C. To identify the relationship between the morphology of bainite structures and their properties, the samples after quenching and tempering at each temperature, were subjected to metallographic analysis, X-ray diffraction analysis, mechanical tests, and corrosion resistance tests. The work shows the sequence of structure transformation, temperature ranges of phase and structural transformations, changes in mechanical properties, and corrosion resistance that occur during tempering of lath carbide-free low-carbon bainite. It is shown that tempering of lath carbide-free bainite (08KhFA, 08KhMFA and 05KhGB steels) does not affect the rate of carbon dioxide corrosion. It has been found that medium tempering forms the structural condition of carbide-free low-carbon lath bainite providing a combination of high mechanical properties and high corrosion resistance in oil field environments. For each of the steels under study, the authors give recommended heat treatment modes.

A multiphysics simulator for stope-coupled heat exchanger operation in deep underground mines

The ever-increasing mine depth offers unprecedented opportunities to access high-grade geothermal resources. By pre-installing pipeline systems in mined-out cavities before waste tailings placement, the stope-coupled heat exchanger (SCHE) has drawn growing attention for its superior socio-economic advantages. However, despite the extensive focus on energy efficiency, the system stability during heat production has been typically overlooked. This study therefore introduces a novel high-fidelity simulator for replicating practical SCHE operation. By embedding non-isothermal pipe flow into an evolutive thermo-poromechanics framework for cemented tailings, the outlet water temperature and multiphysics backfill response in diverse production settings are meticulously studied. Our calculations reveal for the first time that circulating chill fluid within mine backfill can substantially alleviate pressure development, suggesting enhanced system stability with heat-exchanger implementation. We also demonstrate that albeit targeting higher-grade geothermal resources, prioritizing cold-season operation, and pre-charging heat exchangers with production delays could spur heat productivity, the companion thermal pressure generation might still impose significant overloading risks. Conversely, while fast circulation would diminish the end-utilization temperature, the rapid heat removal could indeed facilitate superior efficiency and stability performance for the geothermal system. We believe these new findings hold critical implications for better positioning SCHE as a safely sustainable pathway towards hybrid utilization of deep resources.

Operation optimization of large-scale natural gas pipeline networks based on intelligent algorithm

With the expansion of natural gas pipelines into larger networks, there is a growing concern regarding energy consumption in the operations of pipeline systems. However, the intricate network structure and hydraulic properties pose challenges for operation optimization. In this paper, a Mixed Integer Nonlinear Programming model is proposed to optimize the steady-state operation of natural gas pipeline network, aiming to minimize the energy consumption of compressor units. The model incorporates constraints related to flow direction, flow balance, pressure drop in pipeline sections, and pressure increase at compressor stations. To solve the complex nonlinear model efficiently, a stochastic optimization algorithm that integrates particle swarm optimization and high-fidelity simulation is proposed. The case study is conducted on a large-scale natural gas pipeline network consisting of forty-three pipeline sections and four compressor stations. The optimal operation scheme is calculated, and the outlet pressures of each compressor are determined. The results demonstrate that the stochastic optimization algorithm proposed in this paper can reduce energy consumption by 21.23 % at most and 19.77 % on average during pipeline operation, which can provide guidance for the operation management of large-scale natural gas pipeline network.

Control of deposits on pipeline systems by the method of free oscillations

RELEVANCE. There are a large number of heat exchangers in operation enterprises that operate under various temperature conditions. Steam, hot water, heated products of oil refining and other industries, which may contain oxides of iron, aluminum, calcium sulfate silicates, etc., are used as a heating agent. The efficiency of the heat exchange equipment depends on the condition of the heating surfaces. Contamination of these surfaces with various deposits dramatically reduces the heat transfer coefficient, which leads to a significant increase in heat consumption. The nature of the deposits depends on the properties of the heating agent and the heated medium.THE PURPOSE. The purpose is to assess the possibility of controlling deposits on the surfaces of heat exchange equipment by the free oscillation method. The presence of deposits changes the mass of structures and, consequently, the natural frequencies of vibrations, the analysis of which can determine not only the presence and thickness of deposits, as well as their appearance.METHODS. The paper shows the results of experimental studies conducted using a hardware and software package and calculations of natural vibrations of the surfaces of heat exchange equipment in the ANSYS software package to identify their dependence on the thickness and density of deposits. A plate, a pipe, and a pressurized pipe were modeled as heat transfer surfaces.RESULTS. The results obtained experimentally and computationally coincided, and it was concluded that the free oscillation method makes it possible to determine not only the presence of deposits on heat exchange surfaces, but their thickness and appearance.CONCLUSION. The free oscillation method can detect deposits in a timely manner and monitor their condition, which in turn will, reduce overall operating costs, increase energy efficiency and extend service life.

Simulation of gas mixture dynamics in a pipeline network using explicit staggered-grid discretization

We develop an explicit staggered finite difference discretization scheme for simulating the transport of highly heterogeneous gas mixtures through pipeline networks. This study is motivated by the proposed blending of hydrogen into natural gas pipelines to reduce end use carbon emissions while using existing pipeline systems throughout their planned lifetimes. Our computational method accommodates an arbitrary number of constituent gases with very different physical properties that may be injected into a network with significant spatiotemporal variation. In this setting, the gas flow physics are highly location- and time- dependent, so that local composition and nodal mixing must be accounted for. The resulting conservation laws are formulated in terms of pressure, partial densities and flows, and volumetric and mass fractions of the constituents. We include non-ideal equations of state that employ linear approximations of gas compressibility factors, so that the pressure dynamics propagate locally according to a variable wave speed that depends on mixture composition and density. We derive compatibility relationships for network edge boundary values that are more complex than for a homogeneous gas. The simulation method is evaluated on initial boundary value problems for a single pipe and a small network, is cross-validated with a lumped element simulation, and used to demonstrate a local monitoring and control policy for maintaining allowable concentration levels.

Identification of coating layer pipeline defects based on the GA-SENet-ResNet18 model

Detecting damage in coated pipelines is a challenging and costly task. This study proposes a method for pipeline defect identification based on VMD-DWT noise reduction and GA-SENet-ResNet18. Combining wavelet transform to convert denoised defect signals into time-frequency representations enhances the model's ability to capture both time-domain and frequency-domain features of defect signals, thereby improving its recognition capability for different types of defects. The study analyzed the feature extraction capabilities of ALexNet, GooleNet, VGG16, ResNet18, SENet-ResNet18, and GA-SENet-ResNet18 models in pipeline defect recognition. Experimental results show that SENet-ResNet18 achieved an accuracy of 0.9591 on the training set in 9m38s, significantly outperforming the first four models. GA-SENet-ResNet18 achieved 96.83 % accuracy, 96.67 % precision, 96.73 % recall, and 96.68 % F1 score in pipeline defect signal recognition. Compared to ResNet18, it improved accuracy by 2.06 %, precision by 1.94 %, recall by 2.09 %, F1 score by 2.37 %, with a reduction in time by 1m1s. The study demonstrates that the combined improvement of GA and SENet enhances ResNet18 not only in feature selection and response enhancement but also significantly improves its performance compared to traditional ResNet18 networks, making it more effective in pipeline defect recognition tasks. This research is crucial for ensuring pipeline system integrity and preventing pipeline accidents.

Design and Evaluation of Real-Time Data Storage and Signal Processing in a Long-Range Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) Using Cloud-Based Services.

In cloud-based Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) sensor data management, we are confronted with two primary challenges. First, the development of efficient storage mechanisms capable of handling the enormous volume of data generated by these sensors poses a challenge. To solve this issue, we propose a method to address the issue of handling the large amount of data involved in DAS by designing and implementing a pipeline system to efficiently send the big data to DynamoDB in order to fully use the low latency of the DynamoDB data storage system for a benchmark DAS scheme for performing continuous monitoring over a 100 km range at a meter-scale spatial resolution. We employ the DynamoDB functionality of Amazon Web Services (AWS), which allows highly expandable storage capacity with latency of access of a few tens of milliseconds. The different stages of DAS data handling are performed in a pipeline, and the scheme is optimized for high overall throughput with reduced latency suitable for concurrent, real-time event extraction as well as the minimal storage of raw and intermediate data. In addition, the scalability of the DynamoDB-based data storage scheme is evaluated for linear and nonlinear variations of number of batches of access and a wide range of data sample sizes corresponding to sensing ranges of 1-110 km. The results show latencies of 40 ms per batch of access with low standard deviations of a few milliseconds, and latency per sample decreases for increasing the sample size, paving the way toward the development of scalable, cloud-based data storage services integrating additional post-processing for more precise feature extraction. The technique greatly simplifies DAS data handling in key application areas requiring continuous, large-scale measurement schemes. In addition, the processing of raw traces in a long-distance DAS for real-time monitoring requires the careful design of computational resources to guarantee requisite dynamic performance. Now, we will focus on the design of a system for the performance evaluation of cloud computing systems for diverse computations on DAS data. This system is aimed at unveiling valuable insights into performance metrics and operational efficiencies of computations on the data in the cloud, which will provide a deeper understanding of the system's performance, identify potential bottlenecks, and suggest areas for improvement. To achieve this, we employ the CloudSim framework. The analysis reveals that the virtual machine (VM) performance decreases significantly the processing time with more capable VMs, influenced by Processing Elements (PEs) and Million Instructions Per Second (MIPS). The results also reflect that, although a larger number of computations is required as the fiber length increases, with the subsequent increase in processing time, the overall speed of computation is still suitable for continuous real-time monitoring. We also see that VMs with lower performance in terms of processing speed and number of CPUs have more inconsistent processing times compared to those with higher performance, while not incurring significantly higher prices. Additionally, the impact of VM parameters on computation time is explored, highlighting the importance of resource optimization in the DAS system design for efficient performance. The study also observes a notable trend in processing time, showing a significant decrease for every additional 50,000 columns processed as the length of the fiber increases. This finding underscores the efficiency gains achieved with larger computational loads, indicating improved system performance and capacity utilization as the DAS system processes more extensive datasets.

Modeling and Mitigating Gas Hazards during Potash Mine Closure

The planned closure of potash mines achieved through the injection of highly mineralized brines into the worked-out area is a complex process. A critical concern arises when brines obstruct the aerodynamic connections between the flooded mine’s airspace and the atmosphere, potentially leading to the formation of closed cavities where explosive gases can accumulate. To address this hazard, it is imperative to develop systems capable of extracting the gas–air mixture from the unflooded part of the worked-out area. Two distinct scenarios are examined: the first involves controlled flooding with saturated brines, while the second contemplates flooding resulting from a hypothetical breakthrough of supra-salt strata, leading to the ingress of groundwater into the worked-out area. A novel mathematical model is introduced to predict the evolution of gas–air mixture parameters in the unflooded part of the worked-out area. Utilizing this model, we assess the effectiveness of proposed measures designed to eliminate explosive gases from the worked-out area. Specifically, a pipeline system is proposed for the removal of gases. The findings from this study contribute valuable insights into ensuring the safe and efficient closure of potash mines, shedding light on potential risks and effective mitigation strategies for gas-related hazards during planned flooding.
