Application of Line-up Competition Algorithm with Variable Weight for Tree Pipe Network Layout Optimization

As a problem of network flows, pipe network layout optimization is a combinatorial problem with variable weight. This paper takes flow variation by different layout scheme into account to the pipeline optimization and obtains the irrigation pipe network layout optimization with variable weight. Line-up competition algorithm (LCA) is introduced to optimize the tree pipe network layout. The corresponding fitness function, encoded mode and mutation are designed on the basis of the characteristic of tree graph expressed by adjacency matrix. It is testified by case study that LCA can obtain the optimal result, and is better in search efficiency and much stable compared with other algorithms.

Thermal Environment Simulation of Buildings on the Ground in Low Enthalpy Geothermal Engineering

By using a variety of energy-saving technologies, low-grade geothermal energy will be efficiently used for improving the indoor thermal environment with few high-grade electric energy in low enthalpy geothermal engineering. In order to be more targeted and precise, geothermal energy conservation engineering should be designed and controlled on the basis of characteristics and variation of indoor thermal environment. Taking the low enthalpy geothermal engineering in the Air Force Command Academy veteran cadre living area as an example, it generalizes the building and simulates the indoor thermal environment by DeST software. The results show that the thermal enironment of rooms which are on the different storeies and different orientations is different. it is be obvious regularity, the thermal enironment of rooms in the high storey and low storey is worse than the middle storey in winter, the thermal enironment of rooms in north is worse than in south, the thermal enironment of rooms in west is worse than in east, and the thermal enironment of rooms in the corner is worse than in the middle. All of these may be a guide to equipment selection, layout of pipe network and terminal equipment, and can provide a theoretical basis for energy conservation design and operations control.

Optimal Layout of Pipe Network of District Cooling System in Shanghai EXPO Park

The layout of district cooling pipeline network is a typical combinational optimization problem. Taking the minimum annual total cost of pipeline network as the optimization target, this article applied the single parent genetic algorithm in optimum arrangement of aqueous cooling system pipe network of the First Energy Station in Shanghai Expo Park, which has given a scheme of arrangement with minimum tentative investment and operation cost to provide basis for scheme assessment and decision-making. The study shows that the application can provide not only many optimal arrangements for pipe network which has the same refrigeration station to make basis for scheme assessment and decision-making, but also the basis for choosing the best position of refrigeration station.

Development of an integrated simulation model for treatment and distribution of reclaimed water

Research is currently being conducted as part of the AQUAREC project, with the objective being the development and validation of design principles for water reuse systems. To achieve the project objective, simulation and optimisation software for integrated water reuse systems need to be developed. A water reuse system is likely to have many possible design options: type and degree of treatment, number and location of treatment plants, number and location of pumps/pumping stations, number, size and location of storage tanks, layout and size of distribution pipe network. These elements are all linked, to give multiple interactions and a very large number of design combinations. A hydraulic/process simulation model has been developed and is described, which will be used in combination with an integrated optimisation engine to allow a range of design possibilities to be explored. The model includes a computational module for wastewater treatment trains, a computational/optimisation module for reclaimed water distribution system, and a knowledge base. The computational modules are used to calculate the performance of userdefined reuse system alternatives, utilizing the information contained in the knowledge base that includes rules for generation of treatment trains, design, cost and evaluation criteria information.
