Since 1951, AirWorks has been the largest privately owned aviation services company in India. It remains family owned by the Menons. In 2010, a new professionally trained CEO, Vivek N Gour, was brought in to embark on a transformation and growth strategy. AirWorks acquired a majority share in Air Livery, a UK based aircraft painting and maintenance company. Through joint ventures and partnerships AirWorks grew its revenue several-fold by 2012. A new hanger was built at Hosur near Bangaluru. In 2012, AirWorks made a major investment in Empire Aviation of UAE. Vivek led the transformation from physical cleanup and upgrading of hangers, to new processes and systems to document and track work, and obtained world-class certifications from global regulators.
