Analyzing competencies in creating and using educational videos in students of different educational programs

In modern science, it is generally accepted that the video format is more effective than other forms of presentation. Video content for educational purposes corresponds to human physiology, is on­trend and pedagogically proven. The authors analyze the scientific literature and personal professional experience of teachers and educational resources developers, and conclude that it is necessary to form competencies in the sphere of video content creation and application in university students of different educational programs, and present a model of these competencies. To obtain a comprehensive and up­to­date point of view regarding the formation of university students’ competencies in the sphere of application and creation of educational video content and their experience in developing educational videos, a project was initiated in which students created an educational video and then filled out a questionnaire where they evaluated not only the features of video content in education but also their personal experience of video creation and their competencies. The students’ questionnaires provide a rich material for quantitative and qualitative analysis of the formation of competencies that are necessary for creation of educational videos. The presented results may be of practical interest to teachers of educational organizations planning to create video content and apply it to improve the efficiency and quality of education, as well as to implement the formation of relevant competencies in students.

INDIVIDUAL STYLE OF PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITY OF FUTURE PSYCHOLOGISTS: ESSENCE AND WAYS OF FORMATION IN THE EDUCATIONAL PROCESS OF A HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTION

The article examines the problem of the individual style of professional activity of future psychologists. The purpose of the article is to substantiate the essence, the component composition of the individual style of professional activity of future psychologists, the ways of its formation in terms of the educational environment of a higher education institution. It has been shown that an individual style is a factor of professional success, and therefore the specificity of its formation depends on the type of professional activity. The stages of formation of an individual style of activity have been specified. It covers, firstly, the development of professional activity with already worked out schemes and procedures, and secondly, the deviation from normatively approved work samples. The individual style of professional activity of future psychologists is presented as an integral personal formation that determines the individual strategy and tactics of organizing psychological activity and ensures productivity and optimal solution of professional tasks. The components of the individual style of professional activity of future psychologists have been defined. The content of the individual style of future psychologists’ professional activity includes motivational-value (a system of motives, and value attitudes); cognitive (a set of knowledge about the essence and structure of the individual style of professional activity of future psychologists, ways of its formation); personal-active (methods, techniques, procedures, productive technologies, and tools of implementing psychological knowledge in work by specialities); reflective-evaluative components (an ability to professional and personal reflective). It has been emphasized that the individual style of professional activity is not formed by itself, but requires painstaking and systematic work on oneself, performing the function of adaptation to the requirements of professional activity and is a system of individually unique methods that ensure successful performance of the work of a practical psychologist. The methodological aspects of the formation of the individual style of professional activity of future psychologists have been identified. It is a set of systemic, functional, synergistic, axiological, and personally oriented approaches. It has been substantiated that the formation of the individual style of professional activity of future psychologists requires the modelling of the content of each educational component of the educational program in the specialty 053 Psychology according to the logic of the tasks of future professional activity; the use of practically oriented learning technologies (dialogic-discussion, game, training, project, and case ones, as well as training, exercises, web quests, webinars, workshops, etc.). Emphasis is placed on the need to involve students in various practical activities for the implementation of professional initiatives in cooperation with partners of higher education institutions and employers. An interesting experience of acquiring personal professional experience by future psychologists through involvement in end-to-end practice, in particular the practice of the “Supervision Studio”, has been revealed. The prospect of further research is found in the study of the problems of organizing the self-educational activities of future psychologists for the development of the individual style of professional activity.

Not just café wisdom – Book review of Kata (Café) Molnár: the Police Café methodology handbook

Aim: Based on the author's personal observation, professional and scientific experience, presents the book of Kata (Café) Molnár "Police Café Methodology Handbook".Methodology: In addition to the primary purpose of the book review, the manual is used as a basic source to acquaint the reader with the importance of the Police Café method, the methodological recommendations made by the book's author, and possible directions for the development of the method.Findings: The Police Café methodology manual serves well the preparation of those intending to apply the method, and also gives a glimpse into the struggles, successes, and achievements of the journey from its beginnings eight years ago to the present day, indicating possible directions for development.Value: The book provides a basis for recording the standardized methods of the Police Café, which is an important step towards becoming an accepted scientific research method.

Понимание эмоций как фактор социальной самореализации обучающейся и работающей молодежи

<p>Self-realization, as a psychological phenomenon that combines well-pronounced motivational and cognitive-evaluative components, largely determines adaptive resources of a person. This article analyzes the relationships among three types of self-realization, basic personal traits, professional experience and emotional intelligence of young adults on a sample of 125 students (girls and boys) of the Southern Federal University. A part of the sample consisted of part-time students who combined work and professional training (n=51), the rest were full-time students in their respective fields of study (n=74). The study tested three research hypotheses, namely that: (1) The respondents would report relatively low level of social self-realization, in comparison with professional and personal self-realization; (2) Significant differences would be observed in indicators of social self-realization, but not in emotional intelligence, between the sub-samples of part-time and full-time students; (3) Professional experience, basic personal characteristics and individual indicators of emotional intelligence would contribute to the respondents' subjective assessment of their social self-realization. Results of ANOVA, correlational and regression analysis of data collected using psychodiagnostic techniques by Kudinov (self-realization profiles), Lyusin (EmIn), and Sschebetenko (Big Five-2), by and large, confirmed all three study hypotheses, in particular and most importantly – about the differences between the two categories of respondents in the level of their social self-realization and in various combinations of its predictors, specifically, about the unique role of the ‘understanding emotions’ factor. The article also discusses the importance of self-realization for successful social adaptation of young people and describes various psycho-correctional and psychological-pedagogical methods, including specialized training of emotional intelligence, designed to compensate for low social self-realization.</p>

Relevance of the study. The proposed research is determined by the realities of the musical society, they are characterized by the active inclusion of collective listening acceptance in the creation of modern musical projects. The lack of a musicological base determined the strategy of understanding the process of communication in music in the perspective of the achievements in the current communication theory. The ideas of the theory of communication developed by American and Canadian scientists Marshall McLuhan, Harold Innis, and John Durham Peters became the theoretical support of the presented considerations. Communicative strategies of the Socratic-dialogic and evangelical-dispersive type receive scientific approval in the research in the musical and communicative sphere.
 Main objective of the study is to substantiate of the hypothesis about the nature of musical communication as an act of collective (composer, performer, listener) sound-intonation intentionality, where the creativity or passivity of the reaction of the collective listener directly depends on the performance creativity. The discursive understanding of the role of the collective listener in music is carried out using the complex methodology of scientific knowledge, which combines the methods of theoretical generalization, discourse analysis, comparative studies and empirical observations.
 Results. For the first time, the definition of musical communication is formulated as a process that unites its participants with the desire (conscious or not) of spiritual development by immersion in acts of musical and intonation creation. Emphasis is placed on the function of individual intentionality of the musical and performing component in communicative processes. The author's definition of an individual musical and performance style as a system of expressive means corresponding to the specificity of the performer's musical worldview has been spread. This system, while maintaining its integrity, functions as a supporting factor for the re-intonation of various compositional styles and a guarantor of auditory co-intonation in musical communication processes. Empirical testing of the theoretical generalizations presented in the proposed research is based on the personal professional experience of the author.

Проблемы профилактики суицидального поведения подростков в образовательной среде и противодействие преступлениям, связанным с деятельностью «групп смерти»

Introduction. The relevance of the work is expressed in the existence of a problem associated with the low effectiveness of preventive work at school in the field of countering suicidal behavior and offenses that encourage adolescents to commit suicide, which is confirmed by statistical data. The aim of the study is to identify the main problem areas that hinder the formation of an effective system for the prevention of suicide among adolescents and to identify ways to solve them. The novelty of the work is determined by the scarcity of criminological research in this area, as well as with the development of relevant proposals for improving the quality of preventive work carried out. Materials and methods. In preparing the work, the author resorted to the use of comparative, logical, statistical and formal legal methods, the method of analysis, generalization and sociological survey, as well as others. The works of domestic researchers, the regulatory framework, information and analytical materials, media publications, as well as personal professional experience were used. Analysis. The main problem of preventing teenage suicides and suicidal offenses is still the low level of professional competence of school psychologists and their lack of skills to work with children in critical situations, a shortage of personnel in educational organizations, lack of awareness of teachers about existing threats in the information space. Achieving a positive preventive effect that can influence the suicide situation in Russia and the region is possible through the implementation of a set of legal, technical and substantive (content) measures. Results. In order to improve the suicidal situation and preventive work in this direction the author suggests measures related to strengthening interaction between family and school institutions; increasing the level of coordination between the subjects of adolescent suicide prevention and the exchange of analytical results; the introduction of targeted preventive practices aimed at modern youth; as well as the improvement of the system of psychological assistance and rehabilitation in post-suicide.

수련 중인 해결중심상담사 발달 경험에 관한 현상학적연구

The purpose of this study is to investigate the nature of the personal development and professional development experience of a solution-focused counselor in training, and the correlation between personal and professional development. For the purpose of the study, six solution-focused counselors in training were selected as participants by using the Giorgi phenomenological description method as a systematic case selection, snowball sampling, and objective sampling. From June to July 2020, data were collected and analyzed through in-depth interviews, organized into a total of 357 central meanings, 69 semantic units, and 16 sub-components, and then derived through 4 components. The results of the study were that first, counselors entered the training process on their own, and during the training, they perceived suitability with the characteristics of solution-centered counseling theory and practiced solution-centered thinking and behavior. Second, counselors in training reaffirmed their strengths through solution-focused conversations and supervision of senior counselors, and their passion for solution-focused increased. Third, counselors wanted to continue their solution-centered philosophy and perspective while maintaining the ‘initial mind’ that they had immersed themselves in for the first time as experts. The implications of the study results are first. Counselors had personal growth experiences that improved their reflection and understanding due to their characteristics and the suitability of the training counseling theory. Second, it is necessary for counselors to actively practice solution-oriented counseling theory in actual clinical settings. Third, counselors in training try to maintain their ‘beginner mind’ without giving up their curiosity, passion, and loyalty to counseling theory for their professionalism as solution-focused counselors. The limitations and suggestions of this study are presented.

To T or Not to T: The Transmasculine Singing Voice on Hormone Replacement Therapy

ABSTRACT Because testosterone-based hormone replacement therapy (HRT) naturally lowers the mean fundamental frequency range of the singer’s voice, the transmasculine voice has historically been treated as a kind of “gold standard” for gender transition—take T, wait a year and voila: a male voice. However, the process of post-pubertal hormonal changes is far more complex than it superficially appears, particularly for the voice. Research on outcomes for transitioning voices is sparse, and anecdotal narratives about poor outcomes give both professional and serious avocational singers pause. This lack of readily available evidence-based research presents a challenge both to trans singers and the voice professionals working with them: given the uncertainty of vocal outcomes, should the transmasculine singer pursue HRT? This article seeks to provide an overview of current knowledge about HRT and the transmasculine voice, contextualize existing data from a singing-voice point of view and highlight the gaps in understanding—offering insight from a transmasculine voice professional’s personal transition and professional teaching experience.

ВИКОРИСТАННЯ ХАКАТОН-ЕКОСИСТЕМИ ДЛЯ СОЦІАЛЬНО-ПРОФЕСІЙНОЇ ІНТЕГРАЦІЇ МОЛОДІ В УМОВАХ СТРУКТУРНО-СОЦІАЛЬНИХ ЗМІН

This article tackles a wide range of issues related to social and professional adaptation of youth in the context of structural and social transformations. It is observed that currently, the employment and occupation challenges remain are among the most critical objectives to be attained and need to be resolved as soon as possible. It is argued that the objective reality of modern social relations is the constantly changing labor market environment; moreover, the current situation in the employment sector significantly complicates the situation for young people. In particular, it is emphasized that the labor market puts young professionals in the system of fierce competition with professionals who already have work experience. Ultimately, transformations in various fields – social, economic and political system of fierce competition – have caused a decline in the social value of labor for many young people that has resulted in moral degradation and triggered social pessimism – a disbelief that they will be ever able to get an interesting job that is paid fairly which translates into polarization between effort and wages, which in fact often differ. A survey of graduates conducted in the frameworks of the University Hackathon Ecosystem has revealed the quantitative and qualitative characteristics of future professionals and their ability to integrate into the social environment. Processing of research outcomes using the tools of mathematical statistics to obtain values with estimated availability and reliability has demonstrated the validity of the developed favourable organizational and pedagogical environment in the university. In this context, consistent implementation of this organisational and pedagogical paradigm ensures the highest effectiveness of adaptation to professional activities based on education values as well as social integration readiness. The proposed model of promoting professional partnership-based adaptation of students between the university and social institutions and organizations characterizes the pre-working period of educational and professional adaptation. It is assumed that enhancing the students’ adaptation to professional career will help would be professionals find confidence in their abilities and become competitive in the labor market, reinforcing new values of professional self-development and professional development, and facilitate further integration into society. It is argued that the use of traditional labor socialization methods is not always sufficient to attain relevant professional maturity which is associated with different character and motivation to professional activity. The findings verify that some young people are engaged in non-professional activities, some work in the profession but do not seek to develop their professional skills, there are also cases of discrimination against young people by the older generation which refer to professional growth opportunities. An experiment based on the University Hackathon Ecosystem provides argument that the professional socialization of individuals assumes a certain time period to enter the professional environment, gain professional experience, master the standards and values of the professional community, as well as the process of accumulation and active implementation of personal professional experience.

Recursos mobilizados na preceptoria de enfermagem: um estudo em Grounded Theory

The development of skills implies the mobilization of resources considering personal learning, educational training, and professional experience. The quality of skills depends on the combination of personal resources and the environment. The objective of this study was to identify the resources that are mobilized in the development of competencies of nursing preceptors. A qualitative study was carried out based on Grounded Theory. The study took place in two services of a hospital in the metropolitan area of Lisbon, from November 2018 to December 2019. The interviews were carried out with nurses at different stages of Patrícia Benner's Socio-Professional Development Model and with different experiences in guiding nursing students. Theoretical sampling was conducted according to the needs identified in the data coding. Data analysis and treatment was performed according to the Grounded Theory methodology. The resources mobilized in the development of preceptor nurses’ competencies were characterized as endogenous and exogenous. Endogenous refers to individual characteristics, skills, and experiences. The exogenous characteristics are the Nursing team and the teacher. Nurses, supported by the Nursing team, mobilize individual characteristics and skills in their skill development as preceptors. The identification of these resources can define indicators for a preceptor profile and contribute to the training of preceptor nurses.

Accommodating Students with Exceptionalities in Secondary Agricultural Education: Experiences During Student Teaching

Contemporary trends in agricultural education demonstrate a need for secondary teachers to obtain more knowledge and skills regarding accommodating students with exceptionalities. As such, the purpose of this case study was to understand the experiences of student teachers (N = 4) at Louisiana State University as they developed inclusive educational environments and provided accommodations for students during their student teaching practicum. As a result of our analysis, participants’ experiences were interpreted through Dunkin’s and Biddle’s model of teaching and learning that included three key variables: (1) presage, (2) context, and (3) process. Presage variables described the role of the student teachers’ personal characteristics and professional experience in influencing how they accommodated students. The second theme, context variables, illustrated the various situational elements the student teachers perceived affected their ability to accommodate the learning of students with exceptionalities, such as communication with other school professionals as well as local school policies and practices. Finally, process variables, reflected the participants’ specific activities and demonstrated their need for additional professional development and training. Moving forward, we recommend that teacher preparation programs enhance preservice teachers’ awareness of the learning needs of students with exceptionalities through early fieldbased experiences that feature best practices concerning creating inclusive classroom environments and accommodating students before they begin student teaching.

The what and the how of self-care for sport psychology practitioners: A delphi study

Sport psychology professionals (SPPs) have recently noted the importance of engaging in self-care as means to an effective, ethical, and long-lasting career. Nevertheless, there currently exists no clear description of what self-care means to SPPs, the strategies they use, or how they experience these. As such, we sought consensual agreement from a panel of experts regarding a definition of self-care and perceived associated outcomes, as well as key self-care strategies, and any obstacles to enacting these experienced by SPPs. A multinational panel of twenty-three SPPs (M = 13years experience, SD = 6.5) were invited to participate in a 3-round Delphi study. In round one, participants were invited to outline their personal definition of self-care. Following a content analysis of these answers, we developed a working definition of self-care and in subsequent rounds invited the panelists to rate the clarity, representativeness, importance, and easiness of adherence to this as an SPP. Furthermore, we sought consensus on the possible outcomes of self-care, such as enjoyment of life, positive professional quality of life, developing effective and ethical practice. Finally, participants were offered the opportunity to rate the frequency of challenges faced and strategies used to overcome them, as well as about the usefulness of the strategies and the level of challenge posed by each barrier. The implications for individuals and professional bodies are discussed in relation to professional development and training, wellbeing, and ethical and effective practice. Lay Summary: Sport psychology professionals’ (SPPs) self-care is key to an effective, ethical, and long-lasting career. In this study, a multinational group of SPPs consensually developed a working definition of self-care, identified its possible outcomes, and agreed upon the potential challenges hindering it, as well as the strategies to foster its. Applied implications This work illustrates the importance of self-care activities being grounded in an individual’s personal values and that self-care is most likely to develop as a result of deliberate engagement in activities aimed at prioritizing, developing, preserving, protecting, monitoring and restoring one’s health, wellbeing, and life satisfaction. Professionals engage in self-care activities to experience a positive impact on their personal life and professional experience via the quality and effectiveness of their practice. It is important for trainees, with the support of their supervisors, to prioritize the development of self-care throughout their professional training to promote an early healthy and ethical approach to the profession.

STRATEGICALLY IMPORTANT MODERN TRENDS IN UNIVERSITY EDUCATION(ON THE EXAMPLE OF TEACHING A FOREIGN LANGUAGE IN A NON-LINGUISTIC UNIVERSITY)

The article attempts to analyze the current trends in education and identify the most important ones for teaching at the university. As a result of the study of domestic and foreign scientific works devoted to the modernization of education, the author offers a list of strategically important modern trends that need to be massively implemented in the national educational environment in order to improve the quality of teaching various disciplines at the university. The examples presented in the article are taken from the author’s personal professional experience, since all of the stated trends are reflected in his teaching activities. In conclusion, the author points out that the list of potential innovations is not limited to this article, and expresses hope for further research on this issue, considering it strategically important for national education.

Diagnostics data in the framework of railway tracks maintenance

Determining the requirement and location and deciding on the time and sources of repair action is a difficult process, influenced by requirements on cost minimization and operational constraints. The particular sections of the railway track react differently to traffic and non-traffic loads, which implies the need to determine the format of development of structural quality indicators and decision-making is based on a large amount of technical and economic information, the interconnection of which is determined by the infrastructure manager. The decision-making process on repair work in the railway infrastructure management system is therefore based on the analysis of diagnostic data, technical, technological, environmental, and economic information, or the personal professional experience of the staff of the infrastructure manager. Understanding the causes of the structure’s behaviour in this process leads to the identification of its weaknesses and the ability to predict its behaviour, which allows for timely planning and accurate targeting of adequate repair work to minimize the occurrence of structural faults.

Речевая деятельность – основа профессионально-педагогического общения.

The article presents a theoretical substantiation of the conceptual positions of the pedagogical theory of speech activity, which is the semantic core of professional pedagogical communication. The conducted research and the experience of professional activity made it possible to distinguish in the article three types of a teacher, presented in the context of the educational discourse of professional and pedagogical communication (traditional, modern, future). The content-logical connection between these types of educational discourse and forms of speech activity (monologue, dialogue, polylogue) is presented. It has been proved that speech activity in professional pedagogical communication is the main toolkit of a teacher's activity, the improvement and development of which depends on the level of communicative culture. The article reveals the content of speech interaction in professional pedagogical communication in the matrix of speech communication "teacher-student". The presented groups of speech skills, levels of interaction and speech situations contribute to the development of speech activity and the achievement of intersubjective interaction in the educational process. The author has proved that the content of professional-pedagogical communication depends, first of all, on the qualitative characteristics of speech: clarity, accuracy, expressiveness, wealth, correctness, emotionality, imagery, consistency. The article describes the verbal and non-verbal aspects of professional-pedagogical communication, on the basis of which a conclusion is made about the structure and content of this process: axiological, neological, ergological, deontological components. The author pays special attention to the inte-grative characteristic of the teacher - "assertiveness", presents his essential characteris-tics. Styles of professional and pedagogical communication are divided into groups (teacher-Socrates, head of group discussion, teacher-master, teacher-general, teacher-manager, teacher-trainer, teacher-guide). Based on the analysis of personal scientific and professional experience, the article determines that polemic dialogue is one of the most effective ways of organizing professional and pedagogical communication. As a result of the research, variants of successful practices of professional-pedagogical communication (persuasive, expressive and suggestive) were proposed.

This article deals with the hegemony of Anglo-Saxon social anthropology over the anthropologies of the South and its neighbour discipline, European ethnology. It departs from a description of my personal professional experience during the last thirty years to discuss how the disciplinary capacity of influence (and shadowing) is linked to political decisions, the definition of what is scientific, and the instrumental use of rankings and evaluations.

The impact of CEO educational background on corporate cash holdings and value of excess cash

This study examines the effect of CEOs' educational background on the cash holdings policy and value of excess cash in Korean firms considering the education system in Korea, where academic tracks are determined earlier in life than in other countries. We show that although firms with CEOs who majored in business or in science or engineering have less cash holdings, the value of excess cash holdings varies by major. We find that firms with CEOs who majored in business (science or engineering) show a higher (lower) value of excess cash than other CEOs. Moreover, firms whose CEOs have a master's degree show a higher value of excess cash. In sum, this study suggests that corporate financial policy depends on CEOs' educational background, which determines their personal traits and professional career experience and thus lead to different firm performance in terms of cash holdings policy and the value of excess cash.

Investigating the association between university teachers’ professional autonomy and their innovation performance

The purpose of this paper is to investigate both - theoretical and practical aspects in association between foreign language teachers’ professional autonomy and their innovation performance under the current educational circumstances. The findings demonstrate that the development of innovative university teachers is possible in the framework of the autonomy-oriented approach that gets the teachers to be involved in intensive analysis and project activity, based on an analysis and a review of teachers’ personal learning and professional experience in a wide range of educational context.
