Abstract The several novel methods of fabricating heat sink have been developed in recent years with complicated profiles. We focus on the conventional machining techniques to fabricate simple, less expensive and enhanced by geometrical parameters of heat sink with readily available in markets. A lot of research work was carried out on different orientation of flow patterns such as fins, planes and circular section. In this paper describes mainly on study of effect of fin profile of flow patterns and heat transfer in central processing units (CPUs). The Al2024 alloys with copper composition of 20%, 30% and 40% were used at different velocities of 6, 9, 12 m/s was chosen respectively. These results show that extended fins lead to enhance the thermal performance of heat sink by increasing heat dissipation. It notices that higher surface temperature was obtained at12m/s (347 K) and lower temperature is reached at 6 m/s (303 K). Furthermore, a nusselt number increases by decreasing velocity of air owing heat transfer coefficient with Al-40Cu alloys compositions.
