The results of rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (RRD) surgery in 233 patients (233 eyes) without silicone oil application were analyzed. The first group included 76 patients (76 eyes) after vitrectomy with vitreous cavity air endotamponade and retinal tears endolasercoagulation. The second group consisted of 157 patients (157 eyes) after vitrectomy with vitreous cavity perfluorocarbon liquid (PFCL) endotamponade, endolasercoagulation of retinal tears followed by PFCL removal or replacement with air. Results. Similar comparable results were received postoperatively. Conclusion. Vitrectomy with vitreous cavity air endotamponade allows to perform effective surgical treatment of subtotal retinal detachment in case of upper retinal tears localization, and PFCL tamponade – in case of both upper and lower retinal tears localization with subsequent endolaser coagulation, and also to exclude cases with secondary glaucoma development.
