Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) is part of the government's program for women's reproductive health. Adolescents' understanding of MHM in developing countries is still low. The study aimed to explore the actions, knowledge, attitudes, and perceptions of female students about facilities and infrastructure, as well as the role of parents in managing menstrual solid waste. The method used is a quantitative method with a cross-sectional approach. The study population was junior high school students in Padang Panjang City and Padang Pariaman Regency, with a sample of 234 people. Data were analyzed univariately, bivariately, and multivariately using SPSS. Almost half of respondents took poor action in managing menstrual solid waste (44.9%), had low knowledge (44.4%), had a negative attitude (44.4%), had a poor perception of supporting facilities and facilities (48.3%), and stated that there was no role of parents/families in managing menstrual solid waste (43.2%). There was a significant relationship between the level of knowledge, respondents' attitudes, and the role of parents with menstrual solid waste management measures. However, there is no relationship between the perception of the availability of facilities and infrastructure and action. The level of knowledge and attitude has the most significant influence in determining the actions taken by respondents. The government is expected to provide socialization to the public on how to dispose of menstrual solid waste and provide adequate sanitation facilities and infrastructure. Parents also provide guidance early on

Closing the gender gap in ICT higher education: exploring women’s motivations in pursuing ICT education

Rapid development of digital technologies has stemmed profound changes in the society, positioning the ICT sector as a key driver and contributor. This sector, including education, is however characterized by a gender gap, which is problematic in the light of the increasing demand for digital competence and the ability to move toward a sustainable egalitarian society. In this study, we argue for a need to explore the concept of ICT in higher education. This involves assessing the success of educational programs in attracting women and exploring the perceptions of female students regarding their academic environment. With a specific focus on Sweden, through a survey involving 82 respondents, we provide evidence on motivations and perceptions of women regarding leading choices on pursuing ICT higher education. We propose a holistic approach to studying gender representation and inclusion in ICT higher education, with a focus on women’s perceptions, experiences, and suggestions.

Perceptions of Female Students Regarding Male Student Attitudes at Higher Educational Institutions

The study examines female students' perceptions of male student attitudes at the University of Swabi, focusing on gender bias, academic sexism, stereotype threat, and classroom climate, aiming to promote gender equality. The problem statement highlights the need for a comprehensive investigation into female students' perceptions of male student attitudes at the University of Swabi. The objectives of the study are to examine female students' perceptions, identify gender-based biases, and explore the impact of male student attitudes. The research questions are framed to investigate these aspects in detail. The significance of this study lies in its potential to contribute to gender equality in education, enhance student well-being, improve academic performance, nurture healthier social dynamics, promote respect and diversity, inform policy formulation, and ultimately create a more inclusive and supportive educational environment. The findings from the study reveal important patterns in female students' perceptions and experiences at the University of Swabi. In conclusion, this research provides valuable insights into the perceptions and experiences of female students regarding gender-related issues at the University of Swabi. It offers recommendations to further improve the gender-related climate on campus, ultimately contributing to a more equitable and inclusive educational environment.

Knowledge, Perception and Factors Associated with Self Induced Abortion among Female Medical Students of Kampala International University

The knowledge and perception of abortion has highly influenced the choice to undergo selfinduced abortion. The identified outcomes of which have continued to increase maternal morbidity and mortality. This is to say self-induced abortions which are mostly done by unsafe methods apart from claiming lives, often result in serious health problems. The main purpose of this study was to determine the knowledge on factors and perception of females’ medical student on self-induced abortion. This was a cross-sectional study. About 185 females’ medical students participated and filled self-administered questionnaire following their consent to participate in the study. Data collected were entered into excel spread sheet and analysed with the help of excel. Results were presented on tables. Out of 185 participants, 165(89.2%) said unsafe abortion is abortion done by inflicting trauma, 185(100%) agreed that comprehensive abortion should be done by medical practitioner, 185(100%) said abortion can lead to death, infertility and psychological trauma. 66(35.7%) responded that abortion is safe at any age while 119(64.3%) said no, it is not safe at any age. 54(29.2%) said abortion can be done anywhere as long as drug is available while 131(70.8%) responded no, 172(92.9%) said abortion is right of every female in Uganda while 13(7.0%) disagreed. Also, 185 (100%) said pregnancy caused by raped as one of the factors triggering self-induced abortion, stigma 178(96.2%), fear of forced marriage 168(90.8%), fear of responsibility and denial by father 150(81.1%) and desire to finished school 110(59.5%). Response of participants on perception of female students on self-induced abortion. 139(75.1%) said abortion should be permitted, 151(81.6%) believe contraceptives used can reduced abortion incidence, 157(84.9%) blamed inadequate sex education for self-induced abortion. 131(70.8%) believed free access to abortion care can reduced mortality or morbidity related to abortion complications.149(80.5%) said marriage can reduce self-induced abortion, 70(37.8%) said friends should be advised to go for abortion to avoid unplanned pregnancy while 36(19.5%) said abortion is for family planning and 149(80.5%) disagreed that it is not a form of planning a family. This study concludes that the females’ folks have knowledge on self-induced abortion however, their perception shows abortion should be the right of every female and not only on medical basis. Exploring female students' perceptions of the use of digital technologies in managing academic stress.

The purpose of this research is to explore the perceptions of female students regarding the implementation of digital technologies for academic stress management. We aim to determine if the contribution of these technologies could offer to female students a better management of the stress related to their studies and thus, a better deployment of strategies to cope with academic difficulties. A qualitative study using the focus group methodology was conducted. Our inductive and exploratory approach allowed us to focus on the experience and perception of eleven female students from the University of Mons. The cohort was divided into two groups according to their score on the Perceived Stress Scale-10. The data collected was analyzed using the thematic analysis of which allowed us to identify fourteen sub-themes divided into three axes: coping strategies used to manage academic stress, students' needs to improve their management of academic stress, and the implementation of technology for managing academic stress. Our results show that the issues present in the academic context lead students to use various coping strategies, some of which are harmful to their physical and mental health. The implementation of digital technologies and biofeedback seems to be an approach that could help students adopt more functional coping strategies and alleviate their daily difficulties in managing academic stress.

Investigation of Preventive Practices and Perception of Cervical Cancer Among Female Students at the Polytechnic in Ibadan, Oyo State

The objective of this study is to determine the perception of female students of the polytechnic of Ibadan, Oyo State, towards cervical cancer and preventive. A cross-sectional study design was used to determine the above objective. The survey included 429 female students who lived on the Polytechnic Ibadan campus. A systematic sampling technique was used to choose 210 rooms out of a total of 420 rooms, and all of the selected rooms' occupants were questioned under the premise that there were two people in each room. Data were gathered using a self-administered questionnaire that had been pretested. Respondents with one or more risk factors were classified as being at a higher risk for cervical cancer and those with no risk factors as being at a lower risk. Data was analyzed using descriptive statistics and Chi square test at p<0.05. Mean age of respondents was 24.2±3.7 years. More than half (60.3%) had good knowledge about cervical cancer and 55.1% had a good perception of cervical cancer. The identified risk factors were sexual debut before the age of 18 years (25.1%) multiple sexual partnering (11.6%), unprotected sexual intercourse (59.2%) and positive family history of cervical cancer (2.2%). Majority of the respondents (96.9%) were at a higher risk for developing cervical cancer. Few respondents (8.0%) had ever heard of the pap smear test and the major sources of information were the internet (33.3%) and hospital (25%). The uptake of pap smear test was low (1.8%). Majority of the respondents (71.9%) were not aware of where the pap smear test could be done. Only 4.7% were willing to receive the human papilloma virus (HPV) vaccine, while 5.1% were willing to do a pap smear test. The major reasons cited for not wanting to do the pap smear test was lack of perceived need for the test (13.4%) and financial constraint (1.5%). Respondents who were 25 years and below and single were more likely to have a good perception of cervical cancer. Those aged <30 years (OR 1.39, 95% CI 0.34-5.66), single (OR 1.07, 95% CI 0.45-2.50), those from faculty of science (OR 1.22, 95% CI 0.57-2.58) and those that had low risk score (OR 2.66, 95% CI 0.54-12.98) were likely to have a good perception of cervical cancer. Even though respondents had a fair amount of awareness about cervical cancer, they nevertheless exhibited significant behavioral risk factors for the condition. The pap smear test had very poor awareness and uptake. Therefore, it is necessary to develop health communication initiatives that would motivate tertiary students to apply their learning to prevent cervical cancer

Analysis of engineering and construction students’ perceptions to explore gender disparity

ABSTRACT Gender disparity is an enduring problem in engineering and construction (EC) areas. The main purpose of this study was to explore the perceptions of female students in EC programs in the US toward factors impacting their situations and investigate barriers to their academic and professional paths. A quantitative research method was used to measure the perception of participants. In the first phase of this project 369 students participated in a paper-based survey. The results emphasized the effect of role models, by engineering students. The results also highlighted several similarities and differences between male and female students in regard to factors impacting the selection of major and career, such as career characteristics, familiarity with the industry, expected growth, and discrimination that facilitate or impede women’s presence in educational and professional positions.

Prioritization of Partner Selection Criteria According the Perceptions of Female Students of Qom University of Medical Sciences

Background and Objectives Marriage is one of the effective factors that can promote mental health and lifestyle and reduce the risk of individual and social disorders. This study aims to prioritize the criteria for partner selection according to the perceptions of female students of Qom University of Medical Sciences (QUMS) in 2017. Methods: This is descriptive-analytical study with a cross-sectional design was conducted in 2017. The study population consists of all single female students of QUMS, of whom 373 were selected by multi-stage sampling method. The instrument was the 22-item Preference Criteria of Spouse Selection Inventory (PCSSI) with acceptable validity and reliability. Data were analyzed in SPSS software, version 20 statistical software using descriptive statistics and Friedman’s test, Chi-square test, t-test, and one-way analysis of variance. Results: The age range of the participants was 18-38 years, and their semester range was 1-15. The results of Friedman test showed a significant difference between the mean ranks of partner selection criteria. Mental health had the highest priority, while being from the same ethnicity had the lowest priority. There was a significant negative correlation between age and importance of partner selection criteria (P<0.001). In addition, there was a significant difference between students with associate degree and the students with bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, and PhD degree in terms of the importance of partner selection criteria (P<0.001). Conclusion: Female students of QUMS pay more attention to mental health, responsibility, and chastity criteria in choosing a partner.

Female Students’ Perception of the Use of (Trans)languaging within English Literature Classrooms at King Khalid University

The recent research paper peruses the perception of female students of drama on the use of translanguaging within English classrooms at King Khalid university. The uppermost aim of this study is to scrutinize the perceptions of translanguaging by undergraduate female students of English literature (drama) as a major. The study’s central question is how female drama students perceive translanguaging in their English literature classroom. Moreover, The critical significance of this research paper is how female drama students perceive the use of translanguaging for the first second language (L2) learning. The results of this study are expected to fill the knowledge gap about how the students perceive the use of the first language ( L1) in English literature classrooms in Arabs contexts in general and in King Khalid University’s contexts in particular. Female students’ perceptions of drama were scrutinized by using a Likert-type questionnaire of thirteen items which were assayed quantitatively utilizing descriptive data. The participants of the study were twenty-five female students of drama majoring in English language and pursuing their undergraduate program at King Khalid university. The paramount results of the probe indicated that responses of female students of English drama to the statements in the questionnaire were mixed and echoed both positive and negative about using the first language and the second language in an English literature classroom. Moreover, female students’ perceptions of the application of (L1) in classes of English drama were generally good on the use of both the first language and the second language. The study revealed that the use of the English language is advantageous and can help enhance English fours skills, English proficiency, and understanding of the drama.Their views are more optimistic about using (L2) than using( L1). Also, they perceived that they would learn more successfully in English drama classes if translanguaging practice was utilized by a professor of English drama which means that the application of translanguaging within English drama classrooms is a practical and sound strategy that benefits female students of drama to boost their English fluency, generate insights, comprehend the content, and delve deeper into the subject matter of English drama.

Celebrity Endorsed Advertisements and Its Influence on Brand Choice and Buying Behavior of Females

Celebrity endorsement is considered one of the popular tools of marketing which is used by many brands. The purpose is to involve any famous celebrity in order to promote that specific brand. Present study is designed to explore influence of celebrity endorsed advertisements on brand choice and perception of female students. Using survey research design, data from 300 female respondents is collected through a well-designed questionnaire. Theoretically, present study is based on elaboration likelihood model. In order to draw inferences from collected data, statistical tests such as chi square and correlation are used. Overall analysis describes that advertising has significant impact on brand choice of female students. Results also indicate that female students give more attention to advertisement of cosmetics and dresses as compared to gadgets. Accordingly, comparative analysis of the selected mediums for advertising showed that overall female students more prefer social media as compared to TV and print media for acquiring information about products and brands. Findings also suggest that celebrity is one of the key factors in advertising to influence females brand choices. It is evident from the findings that females are increasingly becoming brand conscious due to the role of celebrities which is part of celebrity endorsement. Brands advertisements containing celebrities have more successful impact as compared to brand ads without celebrities.

Male or Female, who is better? Student's Perception of the E-Module in Physics-Mathematics Vector Material

This study aims to see how students from different classes perceive the e-Module Mathematics Physics I on vector material, besides that variations in gender differences will also be tested in this perception. The type of research used is descriptive quantitative research. The population in this study were students of Physics Education class 2019 with a sample of 80 students in regular classes A and C. The data were analyzed descriptively and inferentially by using the IBM SPSS Statistic 22 application which consisted of descriptive test, normality test, homogeneity test, and t-test analysis. The results obtained are normal data with a sig of 0.190, and homogeneous with a sig of 0.305. While the t-test obtained a sig value of 0.019 for gender differences in class A, and 0.017 for gender differences in class C. So Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, meaning that there are significant (significant) differences in perceptions based on gender in each class A and C. Where the perception of male students is higher than the perception of female students, but overall students give a good perception of the Mathematics Physics e-module I on Vector material.

Today's teenage promiscuity is so concerning that some have casual sex. So the purpose of this study is to uncover the perception of female students of free sex behavior. This research method is quantitatively descriptive with the research population of all students of State Junior High School 24 Kerinci with the research subjects of all female students in class VII and VIII which amounted to 39 people. The data was revealed using the Free Sex Behavior scale, then processed descriptively. The results of this study revealed that female students perceive free sex behavior is a bad thing to do meaning that the average student has a perception with a good category. For that, it is recommended to the next researcher to research with a wider scale of research subjects

Students' Perceptions of the Physics-Mathematical E-Module on Partial Differential Material Based on Gender

Based on the observations in mathematics physics I, several obstacles were found in teaching and learning activities such as the lack of teaching materials that were easily understood by students. This is because the main books used are books in English as a whole. Therefore, the researcher developed an electronic book, namely the e-module of mathematical physics I on partial differential material created using the 3D PageFlip Professional application. The type of research used is a comparative type of quantitative research. The population in this study were students of physics education class 2019 with a sample of 80 regular classes A and B. The sampling technique used is simple random sampling. The data were analyzed by descriptive and inferential statistics using the IBM SPSS Statistic 25 application consisting of descriptive test, normality test, homogeneity test, and t-test. In the assumption test, the data is normally distributed and homogeneous so that a t-test can be performed. The t-test obtained a sig value of 0,043 for gender differences in class A, and 0,010 for gender differences in class B. So it can be concluded that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, meaning that there are significant (significant) differences in perceptions based on gender in each. class A and B. Where the perception of female students is higher than the perception of male students, but overall students gave a good perception of the mathematics physics e-module on partial differential material.

Stereotyping and bias towards female earth science students and faculty members in Africa

To understand the preponderance of stereotyping of Earth Sciences as a male-oriented science in Africa, we perform a robust analysis of two electronic surveys. The current perception of female students' activities and performances was evaluated through a primary survey (N = 151; 28% female), which consisted of responses from academic professionals working in Universities and other Earth Science-related organizations. The second survey (N = 795; 38% female) investigated the ratio of male to female students currently enrolled in, or those that have graduated from Earth Science programs across Africa. Our approach for analyzing the collected data was based on descriptive statistics such as skewness, kurtosis, and Pearson correlation coefficients. Importantly, our data and analyses revealed under-representation of female student respondents, perhaps due to lower female students' enrolment among the sampled respondents. The responses to the main research questions are largely normally distributed and platykurtic. Thus, there is an overall lack of preference for female over male students across different ages, years of teaching, and cognate experience brackets in most countries represented. Many female academic professionals also slightly perceive male students are not more active than their female counterparts during laboratory and field activities. Majority of these female respondents think that geosciences are meant for female students also, but do not expressively consider it as a female profession. Respondents within the age bracket of 25–35 years and with cognate experience of >10 years do not consider male students to be better than their female counterparts. Significantly, our work shows that the gender of the respondents has no positive impact on their preference for male or female students albeit there were more male than female respondents.

Investigating Differences Between Male and Female Students' Perceptions of School Library Learning Environments

Gender as a context within the learning environment is examined through the results of four studies in the past three years where learning environment instruments were used to evaluate the school library. Previous research indicates that male and female students have physiological differences in terms of brainbased learning and cognitive development. Research has also applied an examination of gender differences to reading preferences. The current research extends an examination of gender by asking the question: To what extent do differences between male and female student perceptions of the same school library learning environment occur, and how can these differences be addressed? The results indicate that females generally have higher expectations of their learning environments than do males, and experience less satisfaction with their actual learning environment than males.

Incivility Within and Beyond Classrooms: Exploring the Perceptions of Targets, Instigators, and Observers

This study aimed at understanding the perceptions of female students who had experienced or witnessed incivility by faculty, and instigated incivility in or out of the classroom and how it affected them. Through the application of a phenomenological and qualitative approach, data were collected from eight (8) female business administration students from public sector universities of Quetta, Pakistan. The findings of the study revealed that female students experienced and witnessed faculty incivility within and beyond the classrooms, which included harassment, character assassination, and humiliation characterized as intense behaviors of faculty. These encounters of faculty incivility resulted in psychological distress like depression, interrupted sleeping patterns, and fear. Furthermore, the findings concerning instigated incivility exhibited that those female students who misbehaved with their instructors were distressed and wanted to quit their studies. The results of this study would be helpful for the university administration to develop policies to combat incivility in educational institutions.

Perceptions of female students toward hologram video conferencing technology at AOU

The research paper primarily aims at understanding women's discernment in the field of education if it is governed by technology such as hologram video conferencing. The paper is expounded in the context of Saudi Arab’s education system as the country of Saudi Arab is fringed by many rules and regulations for females pursuing higher education. The research paper will extrapolate the change in conventional learning and the ways in which it can benefit women’s perception and society at large. Arab Open University (AOU) has been a pioneer in distance and e-learning in SA and hence the study is directly directed towards implementing Hologram Video Conferencing and viewing the change in gender biases when it comes to acquiring scientific learning. The paper will also delve into the challenges that can be faced in adoption of holographic based learning and how it can be overcome by changing awareness and deploying more stringent rules by the government.

Exploring female Students’ perceptions of the influence of gender stereotypes on the choice of Mathematics at a Secondary School in Zimbabwe.

This study sought to explore the perceptions of female students of a secondary school regarding the infuence of gender stereotypes on their choice of mathematics and on prospects of pursuing it at tertiary level after they have successfully completed it at Advanced level. Involving a purposive sample of twenty students (11 Lower Sixth and 9 Upper Sixth) this qualitative case study employed slight quantitave data analysis. Questionnares, focus group discussions and Interviews were used to collect data. The study established that the majority of students were aware of common stereotypical conceptions that society ascribed to the learning of mathematics by girls. Gender had little impact on the decision to learn mathematics at Advanced and tertiary levels. Although some participants perceived mathematics as being more appropriate for boys than girls most participants indicated that the choice of mathematics at Advanced level and prospects of studying it at tertiary level were not so much about gender as they were about several factors. Recommendations for disabusing students’ stereotypical conceptions of the choice of mathematics choice are made from the findings of the study.
