The Impact of The Application of Digital Literacy on Teacher Competency Development At State Elementary School 8 Metro

The problem in this study was that educators need to be more competent in digital literacy and be maximal in implementing 21st century education. This study aims to analyze the urgency of digital literacy in the 21st century education era for the competence of educators at SD Negeri 8 Metro Timur. This research uses descriptive methods and qualitative research types. The data collection technique was carried out by purposive sampling through observation, interviews, and documentation.. The data sources were educators, school principals, and education staff. The results showed that educators' understanding of digital literacy and 21st century education is quite good, with a percentage of educators who understand as much as 72%, while those who do not understand are only 28%. Educators are still at a medium level regarding skills in using digital media in the learning process. There are supporting and inhibiting factors in the implementation of 21st century education, such as facilities, parent educators, and students. Literacy Digital plays an important role and is a component of literacy that must exist in schools because good mastery of digital literacy can improve the professional competence of educators.

Penerapan Adaptasi Teknologi bagi Guru SD Negeri 4 Labuan Tereng untuk Menunjang Proses Pembelajaran

This research was motivated by the lack of existence and utilization of school infrastructure as well as the lack of motivation, creativity and understanding of teachers in utilizing technology. The purpose of this study is to be able to plan, create and apply a form of technology adaptation tailored to the subjects and school curriculum in the classroom. The research method used is the action research method approach which has the core concept of Kurt Lewin includes 4 components, namely planning, action, observation and reflection. For research planning, it is arranged into 4 stages, namely research preparation, cycle I, cycle II, cycle III. The techniques used by researchers are interviews, observation, and documentation. Based on the results of the questionnaire that has been disseminated, the percentage of educators who can access technology is 87% more than those who cannot access technology as much as 13%. Thus, it is ensured that educators are ready to apply technological adaptation to the classes they attend. The research subjects as data sources in this study are educators or teachers of SDN 4 Labuan Tereng and SMPN Satuatap 1 Lembar consisting of 4 men and 4 women.

The Use Of ICT By Teachers In Implementing A Competency-Based Curriculum At Elementary School

Implementation of the curriculum in elementary school based on the use of ICT by educators. Nowadays, ICT has developed from time to time, this requires all educators to be able to use ICT. As educators, of course, they must be able to master technology, especially for the learning process for students. This ICT learning does not only exist in public schools, but also in elementary school By learning to use ICT, and educators who use it can also master it, learning will be easier for both educators themselves and students. The purpose of this research itself refers to how the use of ICT by educators in elementary school in order to implement the competency curriculum in elementary school. The research was conducted using in-depth interviews with educators at elementary school through the WhatsApp application with a qualitative method. The results of the research are that the use of ICT for educators is quite developed, even ICT is very helpful for educators in providing material that is easily understood by students. The use of ICT in elementary school is very beneficial for educators and for students, with ICT in learning it makes it very easy for students to understand the material provided, moreover students are very happy with things that attract their attention so that the material provided will be easier to understand. The limitations of this research are that the researcher did not make a report on what percentage of educators can use ICT, as well as the extent to which educators and researchers have only studied one elementary school. Therefore, it is hoped that future researchers can conduct better and more complete research

Making sense of economic deprivation as a predictor of suicide and homicide: A nationwide register-study

IntroductionClassical work on lethal aggression often viewed suicide and homicide as sharing a common source.ObjectiveThe present investigation explores the association between measures of social deprivation on the relative incidence of suicide over homicide in Italian provinces.MethodsData refer to official government sources on lethal violence rates and measures of social deprivation. The central dependent variable is termed SHR or the suicide rate expressed as a proportion of the sum of the suicide and homicide rates Data were available for the 103 Italian provinces.ResultsThe SHR had three significant predictors. The greater the percentage of the population with low education, the lesser the tendency towards suicide. The tendency towards suicide was also predicted by rental housing, the greater the percentage of the population living in rental housing the less the tendency towards suicide. The inverse of the unemployment rate also predicted the SHR. Given that the measure follows an inverse function, the greater the unemployment rate the lesser the tendency towards suicide relative to homicide (SHR). We can interpret the results relative to a homicidal tendency in the SHR: the greater the low education percentage of the population, the greater the homicidal tendency, and the greater the rental housing percentage, the greater the homicidal tendency in the SHR.ConclusionThe results are consistent with a stream of previous research that connects deprivation with a relatively high probability for disadvantaged populations to direct aggression outwardly in the form of homicide rather than inwardly in the form of suicide.Disclosure of interestThe authors have not supplied their declaration of competing interest.

Working toward Systemic Change in a Christian School System

Implementation of new visions for education is an on-going concern for all educators concerned with improving their practice and their students' learning. This study looked at changes in Seventh-day Adventist K12 school teachers' understanding and implementation of an educational innovation (Journey to Excellence or J2E) between 2004 and 2007. A scale based on J2E's Preferred Practices was used as a proxy measure of teacher understanding or support for the innovation. Whilst a small increase in the use of the innovation was indicated the results showed that a large percentage of educators were, in 2007, still not implementing it. There was evidence that teachers did not have a clear understanding of the Preferred Practices which are its practical backbone. Recommendations are made for improved performance based on the literature of staff development and administrative support. Suggestions for further studies are also offered.

Are Educators at High Risk of Sub-fertility? A Multicenter Study

A high percentage of women schoolteachers having fertility problems were observed by three independent teams. Expected percentage of educators was calculated in 4650 sub-fertile women and 2,062,891 women at reproductive age. To explore the possibility that schoolteachers' contact with childhood viral infections results in alterations of peripheral blood natural killer (NK) cells, a multiple linear regression analysis for profession, age, difficulty to conceive, number of abortions/implantation failures (predictor variables) was performed in childless educators (210) and housewives (184). The difference between observed and expected percentage of sub-fertile schoolteachers was statistically significant (17.6% vs 6.86%, P < 0.0001). The mean percentage of PB NK cells was slightly higher in educators compared to housewives (12.48% vs 11.56%, P = 0.10), and the multiple linear regression analysis revealed that the profession (schoolteacher or not) was the only predictive variable for higher NK% values (P = 0.044). Teachers' sub-fertility appears as an 'occupational disease'. Τhe possibility that results from their exposure to childhood viral infections has to be further explored.

American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) Survey of Radiation Biology Educators in U.S. and Canadian Radiation Oncology Residency Programs

To obtain, in a survey-based study, detailed information on the faculty currently responsible for teaching radiation biology courses to radiation oncology residents in the United States and Canada. In March-December 2007 a survey questionnaire was sent to faculty having primary responsibility for teaching radiation biology to residents in 93 radiation oncology residency programs in the United States and Canada. The responses to this survey document the aging of the faculty who have primary responsibility for teaching radiation biology to radiation oncology residents. The survey found a dramatic decline with time in the percentage of educators whose graduate training was in radiation biology. A significant number of the educators responsible for teaching radiation biology were not fully acquainted with the radiation sciences, either through training or practical application. In addition, many were unfamiliar with some of the organizations setting policies and requirements for resident education. Freely available tools, such as the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) Radiation and Cancer Biology Practice Examination and Study Guides, were widely used by residents and educators. Consolidation of resident courses or use of a national radiation biology review course was viewed as unlikely by most programs. A high priority should be given to the development of comprehensive teaching tools to assist those individuals who have responsibility for teaching radiation biology courses but who do not have an extensive background in critical areas of radiobiology related to radiation oncology. These findings also suggest a need for new graduate programs in radiobiology.
