The article proposes a new way to solve the problem of optimizing the placement of agricultural crops on eroded lands in protective crop rotations. Optimality criteria for the problem: the volume of the washed-off soil should strive to a minimum. The required variables – the areas are given as a percentage of the total arable land area and are limited to minimum and maximum values. For the new method, a detailed description of the database compilation matrices in Microsoft Excel and the "Excel Solver" (Solution Search) application add-in is provided. The methodology for calculating the potential soil washout under agricultural crops in crop rotations has been revised, depending on the availability of crops on arable land during the snowmelt period. A unified formula has been developed for washing away soil under spring and winter crops.
