Conidium ontogeny in hyphomycetes. The phialides of Phialophora, Penicillium, and Ceratocystis

Phialide and phialospore ontogeny of Phialophora lagerbergii (Melin and Nannf.) Conant, Penicillium corylophilum Dierckx, and the imperfect state of Ceratocystis paradoxa (Dade) Moreau are illustrated by time-lapse photomicrography, and a unified concept of the phialide is derived.
