Methodical Principles of Using Mobile Applications in the Professional Training of Future Biology Teachers

The article explores the methodical principles of using mobile applications during the professional training of future biology teachers in higher educational institutions. It is determined that the significance of using modern mobile learning tools is driven by the informatization of the educational process and the necessity to develop key information and digital competencies among future teachers. It is emphasized that forced distance learning requires new teaching methods and tools. It has been found that recently almost all students in general secondary education institutions possess and use mobile phones at a professional level. It is proven that smartphones or tablets can be effective learning tools for the educational process, provided that teachers are skilled in their application. The possibilities of using mobile applications in the educational process of the professional training of future biology teachers are analyzed, revealing methodical approaches to their use: in lectures and laboratory sessions on the methodology of teaching biology, in completing independent work tasks, and in informal or non-formal education.

Methodological design difficulties spiritual and moral education in modern mathematics education in Russia

Introduction. Comprehension of the methodology of mathematics education from the position of the modern view of education becomes especially demanded, as Russia is currently facing the task of preserving traditional spiritual and moral values. The purpose of this study: to identify and reveal methodological difficulties and errors of designing spiritual and moral education in modern mathematics education, as well as to propose ways to eliminate them. Materials and methods. Comparative analysis, generalization and systematization of scientific ideas of Russian and foreign scientists, allowed to identify differences in the definition of the scope of the category «spiritual and moral values». The study was conducted by the authors for five years (2018- 2023). More than 100 people took part in the experimental work, including students of Bunin Yelets State University, mathematics teachers of higher educational institutions of Voronezh, Elets, Moscow, Orel and other cities of Russia. Results. On the basis of system analysis and experimental work, the reasons for the difficulties in designing education (specifics of the subject of mathematics, differences in the understanding of spiritual and moral values in different civilizations, etc.) were revealed. The greatest divergence of opinions was recorded in the evaluation of the experience of moral education in the Soviet school (46% of respondents were in favor and 48% were against borrowing this experience). At the same time, 82% of respondents agree with the need to form spiritual and moral qualities in schoolchildren in the process of teaching mathematics. Discussion of results and conclusion. Designing spiritual and moral education at present involves a number of methodological errors and difficulties inherited from the Soviet past. The Soviet experience of moral education in the process of teaching mathematics does not meet the requirements of modern Russia, the European experience contradicts national traditions, and the experience of Eastern countries with communitarian consciousness only partially meets the principles of Christian ethics. The scientific novelty of the study lies in the development of a conceptual model of designing spiritual and moral education, which includes three levels (education of a good person, education of a good citizen, education of a Christian) and allows to partially eliminate the identified methodological difficulties.

Опыт использования проектных заданий при формировании лингвокультурологической компетенции у студентов нелингвистических специальностей на занятиях по иностранному языку

The study aims to describe the experience of using project-based assignments in forming linguocultural competence in non-linguistic students during foreign language classes. The study material consists of final project assignments at the end of sections in the textbook “Zeit für Deutsch” (“Time for German”) by S. A. Volina, G. B. Voronina, and L. M. Karpova. The scientific novelty of the study lies in describing the content and stages of project-based assignments aimed at forming linguocultural competence in non-linguistic students in German language classes, which corresponds with the goals of foreign language teaching in higher education institutions. The results of the study indicate a positive attitude of learners towards project-based assignments in the study of not only foreign languages but also the culture associated with the language. The following advantages of these assignments for learners should be highlighted: 1) application of previously learned vocabulary; 2) assimilation of new lexical units containing cultural semes; 3) motivation to seek new information related to cultural differences; 4) a creative approach to project implementation; 5) a playful nature of social interaction. The use of project-based assignments in foreign language teaching effectively forms linguocultural competence in non-linguistic students, which contributes to the adaptation of speech behavior to the cultural characteristics of the interlocutor, minimizing the likelihood of misunderstanding. This ensures successful and harmonious interaction in the process of cross-language communication.

Professionally oriented tasks for learning and using mapping technology with ArcGIS tools

Abstract The article substantiates the expediency of using professionally oriented tasks for learning the technology of the mapping process using ArcGIS, taking into account the peculiarities of the training specialists of natural sciences. Socio-economic mapping by means of ArcGIS is an important step for creating management systems to support decision-making by future geographers and others. The main aspects of the introduction of professionally oriented tasks into the educational process of pedagogical institutions of higher education have been clarified. Educational and methodological guidelines for studying and using the technology of mapping with ArcGIS tools have been developed for students and future geographers who expect to perform professionally oriented tasks in the development of maps. For the practical preparation and development of a series of maps that provide visual information for an objective analysis of Ukraine’s indicators, we used information from the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, the Main Statistical Offices of Ukrainian regions. A series of maps, created by different methods and connected by one topic, was prepared and developed, among them the creation of a cartogram of the population of the regions of Ukraine using the method of quantitative background. An experimental verification of the effectiveness of the use of professionally oriented tasks for the study and use of mapping technology by means of ArcGIS by future teachers-geographers proved an increase in the level of development according to the specified criteria: motivational, cognitive and personal-reflective with the corresponding indicators. The mapping approaches presented in this paper based on the implementation of professionally oriented tasks allow students to apply the acquired knowledge and skills and give them the opportunity to flexibly adapt to situations arising in the future professional activity of a geographer.

Developing Future Teachers’ Design Thinking Skills through Constructive Teaching

In this article, the authors draw attention to the problem of developing design thinking skills in students, in particular creativity and innovation, through constructive learning. At present, the accelerated development of science and technology is increasing the demands on humanity, as a result of which there is a need to form an intellectual, constructive personality who has developed a thinking design, that is, the mechanisms necessary to establish dialogic relationships with people must be formed, culture, civilization, capable of self-improvement, self-regulation, self-realization and the formation of one’s image. During the period of rapid development of innovations and technologies in our country, one of the most important areas is the training of future teachers in higher education institutions, and design thinking is a necessary skill for both future teachers and their future students. However, the skill of design thinking is one of the new skills that has not yet been fully explored and developed in our country. Constructive learning has been widely studied and is being studied in pedagogy. The purpose of the presented article is to analyze and discuss constructive pedagogical methods for the formation of design thinking skills among future teachers. The article identifies the research issues of the topic, conducts an extensive analysis of sources of foreign and domestic literature, and also reflects the results of a survey conducted among students and teachers in order to determine the meaning of the concepts of “design thinking” and “constructive learning”. The article also states that in the 2022-2023 academic year, an experimental course “Effective constructive approaches in the educational process” was tested, aimed at developing design thinking skills among students of the educational program 6B01 – “Pedagogical Sciences”, and the results obtained on the basis of quantitative methods were proposed. The course, implemented using constructive teaching methods, gave positive results, the possibility of forming design thinking skills in future teachers through constructive learning was revealed.

Innovation and interculturalism are important features of future teachers' training in modern society

The processes of globalization, the formation of a post-industrial society, the European integration aspirations of Ukraine and the integration of the Ukrainian education system into the European educational space set the pedagogical science the task of bringing the traditional scientific apparatus into line with the system of pedagogical concepts generally accepted in Europe. The developing Ukrainian society needs highly educated people with appropriate professional and general competences who can independently make responsible decisions in a choice situation, predicting their possible consequences, capable of cooperation, distinguished by mobility, dynamism, constructiveness, a developed sense of responsibility for the fate of the country. Decisions and programs aimed at the implementation of scientific achievements, civilizational and cultural trends are implemented through the activities of subjects who perceive them. In this connection, the level of requirements of modern society for the activity and training of teachers in higher education institutions is increasing. Strengthening the integrative and cultural status of education dictates the need to train pedagogical staff capable of realizing its cultural focus. The needs of modern educational practice create the need for cross-cultural training of the future teacher of the Ukrainian language and literature, who not only acts as a mediator between the student and culture, but also contributes to the formation of the young generation's readiness to live and act in an open intercultural space of general civilization.

Practicing Netiquette in Online Communication Between Students and Professors in Higher Education: A Systematic Review

The main objective of this research is to perform an in-depth analysis of current online behaviors and desired netiquette rules among students and teachers in higher education institutions. The pervasive integration of technology into education, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, has necessitated a shift from traditional face-to-face learning to online platforms. This transition highlights the importance of netiquette— a set of guidelines for etiquette on the internet. The systematic literature review design was performed to critically and analytically explore the findings of the previously published studies on the topic. A total of 8 peer-reviewed articles passed the inclusion criteria and were reviewed to extract data for the analysis. A PRISMA model was used to conduct the systematic literature review process. The review conducted in this study examines the extent to which these norms are understood and adhered to within higher education, particularly focusing on communication between students and professors. The research encapsulates the evolution of online communication practices and identifies the challenges and opportunities arising from the reliance on digital platforms in academic settings. By synthesizing existing literature, the study reveals gaps in knowledge and practice regarding netiquette, underscoring the necessity for more targeted research to develop effective strategies for fostering positive and productive online interactions. Ultimately, this research aims to contribute to the enhancement of communication practices in digital learning environments, thereby improving the overall quality of education delivered online.

Towards the Adoption of A Novel More Integral Model for Teaching Entrepreneurship in Higher Education Institutions

The “Radiography of the Teaching of University Entrepreneurship in Mexico” is situated within the context of the necessity to comprehend and enhance the pedagogical practices associated with entrepreneurship in Mexican universities. This context encompasses a global examination of entrepreneurship and its prevailing trends, as well as a detailed analysis of the entrepreneurial landscape in Mexico. The principal objective of this study is to conduct a comprehensive examination of the pedagogical approaches employed in higher education institutions (HEIs) in Mexico with regard to the teaching of entrepreneurship. The objective is to establish a unified approach to entrepreneurship teaching, identify the most effective pedagogical tools for fostering an entrepreneurial mindset, and disseminate the requisite technical knowledge among educators to facilitate their integration into the classroom. The methodology employed begins with a review of secondary sources to provide a detailed overview of the global and Mexican entrepreneurship landscapes, as well as the current state of entrepreneurship education in higher education institutions (HEIs). In conclusion, the Delphi technique is employed to conduct interviews with experts directly involved in the teaching of entrepreneurship in various HEIs, with the objective of collecting and synthesizing their opinions on the subject matter. The research yielded a “Teaching Model of Entrepreneurship in the University,” which is based on the identified approaches, models, and methodologies. The teacher plays a pivotal role in the teaching of entrepreneurship in higher education institutions (HEIs). The findings indicate that in Mexico, the probability of success or opportunity for entrepreneurs is significantly influenced by the material conditions of the individual, which are shaped by their social stratum and geographical location. Furthermore, data indicates that all HEIs endeavor to impart instruction on entrepreneurship. However, due to significant disparities between private and public institutions, smaller or more remote ones may lack the capacity and resources to do so effectively. Therefore, this results in heterogeneity in the teaching of entrepreneurship, which could condition the chances of success for those wishing to become entrepreneurs. Consequently, the necessity was identified for all entrepreneurship teachers in HEIs in Mexico to be able to achieve a robust and comprehensive process of teaching entrepreneurship, whereby students can develop their entrepreneurial skills at an early stage, as well as the creation of companies at a later stage.

Secondary School – Higher Education Institution Continuity on the Example of Teaching Computer Science and Information Technology

The problem of continuity at different levels of education is not new for pedagogy, teaching individual disciplines, including computer science and information technology. It is impossible not to take into account that information technologies are an independent discipline, a means through which the transformation of school and university education has been taking place in recent decades. The content of informatics at school and university should to a certain extent correspond to the level of science development and the requirements of society. The variety of digital tools and the ubiquitous availability of information create huge opportunities for their creative use within their discipline, related natural science subjects, and in various other spheres of human activity. Based on a comparative analysis, the article draws conclusions about the problems faced by both domestic and foreign specialists in the field of education. The article analyzes the strengths and weaknesses, opportunities and problems of the school and university education systems in Russia and abroad, and considers their relationship. It is substantiated that the lack of consistency and discreteness in the process of teaching computer science and information technology at school lead to a discrepancy between the training of school graduates and the requirements for the basic knowledge of first-year university students. The article presents the results of the analysis of basic curricula at school (in the field of computer science) and curricula in the preparation of future computer science teachers at the university (using the Transbaikal State University as an example). The authors analyze the results of diagnostic testing, which was conducted with first-year students of the Transbaikal State University in September 2023/2024, in order to monitor their existing knowledge and skills in the field of computer science. The article suggests ways to solve the problem of secondary school – higher education institution continuity in the field of computer science. The results of the study can be used in the preparation of future computer science teachers in higher educational institutions. The article is devoted to one of the urgent problems of teaching Kyrgyz language and Kyrgyz literature - the problem of speech culture. At present the oral and written speech skills of schoolchildren do not meet the requirements, the main reasons for this are related to the fact that teachers do not know the concepts of "Speech Culture" and "Speech Culture of Students". In the article the given concepts and terms are analyzed from philosophical, psychological and pedagogical aspects and the essence of the problem is revealed on the basis of the works of linguists such as Akishina А. A, Golovin B.N., Goldin V.E., Ladyzhenskaya T.A, Davletov S., Musaev S.J.and so on. Speech culture is the construction of oral and written speech using linguistic means, the creation of text, it is through this speech that people communicate with other people, and later with society as a whole. To do this, in a modern school, one of the main requirements is to increase the linguistic and communicative competence of students. Speech culture is a phenomenon related to the age characteristics of the speaker or writer, psychology, the situation at the moment, the perception and understanding of the topic by students, the vocabulary they can use, themselves and the style of the text. The student's speech culture will directly depend on his perception of the world, his emotional feelings, his aesthetic tastes, and this is exactly what happens at the stage of active acceptance in grades 5-8, when we perceive him as an object. The student should not only understand the work being studied from Kyrgyz literature, receive education from it, but also on the basis of this work perceive in his world the richness of his native language, new words, expressions, means of artistic speech, develop a culture of speech and writing. Scientific investigations and educational literature from the history of Ukraine 1942—1944

The presented article continues the series of studio explorations conducted as part of the research work of the State Printing Archive in the current year of 2024. In accordance with the annual plan of the Book Chamber of Ukraine, the "State Printing Archive" department is processing printed editions of the 40s of the last century by revealing the most important topics of that time. Among the latter are historical-Ukrainian scientific and educational literature published during 1942—1944, i.e. in conditions when the territory of Ukraine was under occupation, and experts in the field of history, academic scientists, teachers of higher educational institutions and other people who were involved before writing this literature, were in evacuation. The presented article is written in accordance with the requirements of scientific methodology, is based on the principles of historicism, comprehensiveness and objectivity, applies general (description, analysis, synthesis, generalization, classification) and special (periodization, historical-comparative, content analysis) methods of scientific research. The scientific novelty of the presented work consists in the systematization and generalization of books published in 1942—1944 outside the territorial boundaries of Ukraine, but under the auspices of scientific and other literature-creating institutions of the Ukrainian SSR. The result of the conducted research was an analysis of the process of development of historical-Ukrainian science in the conditions of evacuation to the eastern regions of the Soviet Union. Currently little-used editions, whose bibliographic record and description were compiled by specialists of the Book Chamber of Ukraine, have been introduced into scientific circulation. The practical significance of the obtained results lies in the possibility of their application in future scientific research.

Preparedness and Competencies of Higher Education Teachers to Teach Online: A Study in North-East India

This study explores the significance of the online teaching ability of higher education teachers, and how teachers perceived their level of competence in teaching online in north-east (NE) India. The Faculty Readiness to Teach Online (FRTO) instrument developed by Martin et al. (2019) was adapted to conduct a study from 130 teachers in higher education institutions across NE India. The ability to teach online was categorised into four categories, i.e., course design, course communication, time management, and technical competence. Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) was carried out to do direct and indirect path analysis of the proposed conceptual model. Multiple regression analysis was used in analysing the demographic profiles of the teachers and their perceptions of the importance of online teaching competencies. The findings indicate that the perceived readiness to teach online was not significantly influenced by course design, course communication, time management and technical competencies. Furthermore, regression analysis showed that both age and gender negatively impacted perceptions towards readiness to teach online, with older and female teachers having lower perception scores.

ОСВІТНІЙ ПРОЄКТ «ЦІКАВА НАУКА ОНЛАЙН» ЯК ШЛЯХ КОМПЕНСАЦІЇОСВІТНІХ ВТРАТ В УМОВАХ ВІЙНИ В УКРАЇНІ

The article highlights the experience of implementing educational projects in the conditions of the transformation of education in Ukraine, which was caused by the war. Research conducted by the State Education Quality Service of Ukraine showed that compensation for the loss of study time most often occurs through providing students with educational materials and tasks for independent study. Group and individual consultations, additional training classes are held less frequently. The study notes that it is too difficult to assess how often these measures are implemented, given that most teachers complain of a lack of conditions and opportunities. Research conducted by us in the Ukrainian educational hubs of JRS Romania in Bucharest confirmed the feasibility of creating educational hubs as an effective form of non-formal education aimed at overcoming educational losses caused by martial law. The results of research and the search for possible ways to reduce the level of educational losses determined the need to introduce new forms of educational activity and more appropriate forms of pedagogical education. In the context of the mentioned problems, the training of natural science teachers in higher education institutions should correspond to the realities of life, the social order and be oriented towards the organization of the educational process online. The implementation of educational projects conducted online based on the STEM-oriented approach, as the experience described in the article has shown, is one of the possible ways to overcome existing educational challenges and ensures that the training of future teachers meets the modern demands of the market of educational services. An example of the implementation of the above ideas is the "Interesting Science Online" project. The idea of the project is to combine the efforts of forms, methods and technologies of formal and informal education to compensate for educational losses in emergency situations. The project's online studios were developed by us depending on the value orientations and preferences of the project participants. The studios of scientific rap, scientific TikTok, the studio "Know How" and "Battle of the Worlds" are actively working in the project. All online studios work under the leadership of students - masters of interesting science. Educational products created in the studios are presented during the work of the studios and in social networks on the project pages. The article presents an innovative form of pedagogical education, online university studios, which improve the quality of training future teachers to carry out educational activities online and demonstrate the possibilities of compensating for educational losses in wartime conditions.

ACADEMIC MOBILITY: PROSPECTS AND ADVANTAGES

The article is devoted to the problem of analyzing the opportunities, advantages, prospects, and difficulties of academic mobility carried out among the teaching staff of higher educational institutions. The implementation of academic mobility in the country for the most part takes place among students. The presence of this work among teachers in higher educational institutions also provides many opportunities for improving the educational process and increases the experience of teachers. First of all, it is an exchange of experience with teachers from other universities, second, work with a new student environment, and thirdly, work with the library fund of the same university. As a proposal, the authors demonstrate the Prevention of these problems by sharing the problems and experiences that have occurred during the implementation of academic mobility through such events as organizing special seminars, holding a round table, and conducting training to conclude as a result of the implementations of academic mobility among teachers of higher educational institutions.

National Education Policy, 2020 and Appointment of Teachers through UGCNET-the Policy Paradox

In a recent notification in July (UGC, 5th July ) 2023, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has once again acknowledged the vitality of the National Eligibility Test (NET), State Level Eligibility Test (SLET) and State Eligibility Test (SET) as minimum criteria for appointment of teachers in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) whereas Ph.D. will remain an optional criterion. This notification once again revived the debates of NET or an accredited test (SLET/SET) and/or Ph.D. and embarked scholars to read the underlying causes of such frequently changing policies of UGC and overall ramifications of these on recruitment in the HEIs. In the context of implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP), 2020, role of the HEIs for ensuring quality education has focused [1]. However, how these can be achieved through a dichotomous policy of NET/SLET/SET or PhD in the matters of selection of teachers. When many universities and colleges are run with inadequate teachers, in what ways they can fulfil the goal of NEP, 2020? How NET or an accredited test can be an important criterion for strengthening research programmers in HEIs? This paper critically evaluates these issues and presents the prolong issue of teachers’ recruitment and role of HEIs in India for quality education through teachers in the context of NEP. It brings light to how contradictory policies are embedded and in operational in the form of UGC-NET and other similar tests for limiting HEIs despite implementation of NEP, 2020.

Science Education in Indonesia: A Bibliometrics Study in Terms of Science Teachers’ and Students’ Perspectives

In recent years, Science Education (SE) in Indonesia has grown into a dedicated focus for all stakeholders in scientific education. All players in the field of education unanimously agree to enhance the prominence of SE among all stakeholders, particularly teachers and learners. The research analyzed the students' attitudes regarding Science Education and the impact of Science Education by SE teachers in higher educational institutions. Science Education outcomes are analyzed using a survey and descriptive evaluation. To gather details, a survey includes closed-ended and open-ended questions developed and controlled on SE teachers’ and students’ viewpoints and knowledge. This research assessed Indonesian Science Education teachers’ perspectives and experiences with Science Education teaching focused on Socio-Scientific Issues (SSI). The students were asked how they integrated relevant SSI methods into their Science Education and their difficulties. Teachers were asked what subjects they learned would be best for SSI-based learning, and most students replied that subjects like technology or environmental sciences would be good for the learning. Despite many hurdles, most Science Education teachers continued to be interested in using SSIs in their classrooms.

Enhancing media literacy skill building in pedagogical universities: Our view and experience

The article presents a review of the integration of media literacy content in foreign language courses at pedagogical higher education institutions. This study is aimed to share and present for academic discussion some of the authors’ perspectives that proved to be successful in mastering media literacy skills as well as in developing language competencies in EFL learners. A particular focus has been made on the methodological base, the principles and strategies of media literacy skill building as well as on the criteria for the selection of learning materials and techniques that ensure the effective implementation of media literacy programs into the existing syllabi. The use of contemporary teaching methods such as flipped classroom, problem-based learning, group projects, capitalizing on higher order thinking skills and interactive classroom activities is viewed as an integrated approach aimed to develop critical perception of media products alongside with a range of sociocultural and communicative competences in students of pedagogy. One of the main objectives of integrating media literacy content into a variety of tertiary courses is to enhance emotional resilience to manipulative influences of the media which is achieved through activating critical thinking skills referring to information flow as well as to students’ own media consumption habits. The pilot implementation being conducted in the terms of the international project “Learn to Discern”, preserved its original methodological constituents which included media literacy as such, information literacy, critical thinking, digital and visual literacy and fact checking skills.
