Obstacles to eLearning During COVID-19: In Accordance with Students Eyeshot

Online teaching-learning resources were seen as extra e-learning tools that may enhance teachers' and students' teaching-learning experiences when the COVID-19 broke out. The COVID-19 pandemic has, however, made online instruction a vital component of the educational apparatus. To ensure ongoing educational services during COVID-19, the academic community worldwide has embraced an online learning environment. The adoption of the online mode was not without its difficulties, despite the many opportunities it presented. This was because many educational stakeholders were ill-prepared for the complexities of the process, which left them facing many unanticipated obstacles.

Femmenoir pedagogies: rescripting the reproduction of Black women’s marginalization in education

ABSTRACT Many Black educators have left the profession, a trend often linked to Black fatigue . This study presents findings from qualitative data seeking to understand how Black women STEM educators who stay, respond to the inherently antiblack nature of schooling . Participants of this study illuminate unique and creative approaches to effectively navigate racism and sexism while teaching within the constraints of the educational apparatus. Based on the results of this study, we introduce the term Femmenoir Pedagogies which hones in on three elements that serve to counter the antiblack conditions of schooling. It emphasizes the need to center Black women as experts using their socio-political location to harness their strengths and radically imagine ways to disrupt the oppressive reproduction of schooling. Drawing on the work of Black feminist scholars, we analyze data from personal narratives, in-depth interviews, and focus groups with six self-identified Black women educators.

CLIL technology in teaching the English Language of Journalism

Importance. The scientific problem is identified, which consists in the need to study tools that develop the integrated subject-language competence of graduates of non-linguistic areas of study, which underlies the successful functioning of specialists in the labor market, as well as the purpose of the study is to show the importance of the subject-language integrated approach (CLIL) in the formation of this competence.Materials and Methods. Information about the object of study is given, which are educational materials used in teaching English journalism, as well as answers and speeches by students of advanced English language proficiency. The research methods, including observation, description, analysis and synthesis, are indicated.Results and Discussion. The specific author’s results of the conducted research are presented, including a description of the apparatus of exercises on the topic “Manipulation and psychology” in journalism, as well as answers and speeches of students. It is noted that most of the tasks are focused on obtaining professional knowledge using the English language. A foreign language is more a means than a goal of learning here. The purely linguistic component of the educational apparatus is small. However, during the course of study, relying mainly on the material of a subjectthematic orientation, students develop all types of speech activity (speaking, listening, reading, writing) and form appropriate language skills.Conclusion. It is proved that the most important place in the work on the topic is occupied by the preparation and presentation of the project. It is proved that subject-language integrated training is an effective method in the development of integrated subject-language competence of future journalists.

To achieve this educational goal, the school cannot be separated from its relationship with the community. In a simple relationship can be interpreted as a process of communication. Or in other words a process of conveying news from one person to another. The community here can be in the form of parents, students, agencies or organizations in the community. Meanwhile, educational officials can be in the form of school principals, teachers, and staff related to the school. It can be concluded that the relationship between the school (educational apparatus) and the community is based on cooperation, not one-sided, but a reciprocal relationship in order to achieve the expected educational goals. In the restructuring of education organizations or reinvented education to improve the activities and programs of the Provincial, District and City Education Offices in carrying out routine activities it must be changed, no longer using a bureaucratic approach with a participatory approach. The paradigm of the education apparatus must be changed, so that it is in accordance with the spirit of implementing school-based management in schools. Methodological principles of a two-level classification of categories of social upbringing

Introduction. Pedagogy of social education is a new branch of pedagogy, therefore its categorical and terminological apparatus is characterized by unformedness and undevelopedness. The presence of a categorical and terminological apparatus ensures the fundamentality and solidity of science, which requires its development. A correct and scientifically substantiated categorical and terminological apparatus of social education will contribute to the further concretized and objectified search for scientific knowledge about social education.Purpose setting. The theoretical analysis of publications indicates that systematic studies on the terminological content of pedagogy are isolated, and are more related to the historical aspects of the development of pedagogy in the analysis of individual categories/concepts, and not with its current state. It is revealed that the research of pedagogical categories and concepts is actively conducted in new branches of pedagogical science. Systematic studies of the categorical and terminological apparatus of social education are not carried out either in Russia or abroad. The purpose of the article is to search and analyze the classification of categories of social education.Methodology and methods of the study. The study used theoretical research methods: analysis, synthesis, systematization, comparison, and classification method.Results. A two-level classification of the scientific categories of social education has been developed, which includes categories of the first and second order.Conclusion. Categories of the first order created by means of mechanisms for the formation of categories of classification and include a key category, synthesized, integrated and additional categories. Categories of the second order are formed according to the criterion of the basic assignment of categories. Classification of categories of the second order includes the base category, system and process categories.

High-Speed Optical Diagnostics of a Supersonic Ping-Pong Cannon.

The traditional ping-pong cannon (PPC) is an educational apparatus that launches a ping-pong ball down an evacuated pipe to nearly sonic speeds using atmospheric pressure alone. The SSPPC, an augmented version of the PPC, achieves supersonic speeds by accelerating the ball with greater than atmospheric pressure. We provide instructions for the construction and utilization of an optimized PPC and SSPPC. Optical diagnostics are implemented for the purpose of investigating the cannon dynamics. A HeNe laser that is sent through two acrylic windows near the exit of the pipe is terminated on a photoreceiver sensor. A microprocessor measures the time that the beam is obstructed by the ping-pong ball to automatically calculate the ball's velocity. The results are immediately presented on an LCD display. An optical knife-edge setup provides a highly sensitive means of detecting shock waves by cutting off a fraction of the HeNe beam at the sensor. Shock waves cause refraction-induced deflections of the beam, which are observed as small voltage spikes in the electrical signal from the photoreceiver. The methods presented are highly reproducible and offer the opportunity for further investigation in a laboratory setting.

Japanese educational culture in times of the COVID-19 pandemic

National culture determines educational culture. The educational culture characteristics of each country will be demonstrated through the awareness of education, the way the educational apparatus is organized, and the way that education deals with the crisis in the context of the COVID-19 epidemic on a global scale. The study uses structural functionalism theory to systematize the elements in educational culture and analyzes these elements in symmetrical pairs to outline the Japanese educational culture during the COVID-19 pandemic from the beginning of the year 2020 until now. In addition, from the view of the specific Japanese educational culture, the study also uses Hofstede’s cultural dimension theory to analyze pandemic response policy.

Re-Evaluating Early Memorization of the Qurʾān in Medieval Muslim Cultures

In medieval Islam, traditional primary educational practices laid special emphasis on learning the Qurʾān by heart. Ideally, a pupil was primed to memorize the entirety of the Holy Book―a feat known as khatma or ḥadhqa. The successful learner would earn the prestigious sobriquet of “ḥāfiẓ”, for which he/she was to be proudly known for the rest of his/her life. Muslim youngsters continue up to present times to memorize the Qurʾān, in conceivably more or less the same way, in traditional Qurʾānic schools. In a sense, this practice developed into a symbol of Islamic conservatism and nationalism in the face of modern non-Islamic ideological forces. Against this backdrop, recent pedagogical trends tend to lay blame on rote learning as a markedly ineffective teaching method. The pedagogical issues of contemporary educational apparatus in the Muslim countries and the traditional Qurʾānic preschools in and beyond the Muslim world are usually ascribed to persistence of “abortive” medieval practices in such institutions. However, this hypothesis and the lingering presumptions related to it are based on defective modern applications of such medieval educational practices and inaccurate conceptions of how these practices are described by the sources. Generally, the intrinsic characteristics of traditional Islamic pedagogy have been explored, albeit partly, by only a limited number of Western surveys. This paper seeks to re-evaluate the efficiency of the pedagogies related to memorizing the Qurʾān in medieval Muslim primary schools. It opens the vista to explore the extent to which such pedagogies resonated with the educational and cultural milieus of the time. To that end, the paper applies literature and theoretical analysis of classical scholars. It also examines primary and secondary Islamic texts as well as the Qurʾān, ḥadīth and fragments of poetry. The main finding is that, contrary to modern misconceptions and generalizations, rote memorization was intertwined in the classical Islamic pedagogy with the ability to contemplate, reflect and understand. It was a multidimensional learning experience that was set to advance a plethora of cognitive, linguistic and intellectual abilities.

Decontextualized schooling and (child) development: Adivasi communities’ negotiations of early childhood care and education and schooling provisions in India

ABSTRACT This paper examines the assimilatory politics of modern schooling as embodied in the spatial and temporal logics of the state’s educational apparatus. Drawing upon a study of early childhood care and education in Gudalur, India, it demonstrates how modern schooling, even during preschool years, deprioritizes indigenous Adivasi commmunities’ socio-cultural practices surrounding children. The separations produced by state educational institutions, between home and school, children’s work and (economic) work of adults, (in contrast to the continuities they assume for communities) are central to this. Adivasi communities negotiate the decontextualized state educational provisions, without completely rejecting them, cognizant of its implications for their lives. Demanding greater accountability from educational institutions, they show how educational institutions include without attending to their socio-political histories and changing relationships with forests, which requires children to be prepared for the present and future, economic and social life, and through intergenerational continuity in knowledge.

Educating Latinx and African American Students in Charter Schools: A Comparative Study from Chicago

The public school system in U.S. has changed dramatically over the past few decades. Institutionally, neo-liberal reform has created a new educational apparatus known as charter schools. As they admit students without school boundaries, these schools promise to offer great opportunities for disadvantaged students. The enrollment in charter schools is mainly Latinx and Black students, especially in large urban areas. That demographic shift is not reflected in the literature because previous studies have predominately focused on comparisons between Whites and minorities. Using Chicago as a case, this study compares the association between the enrollment of Black and Latinx students with educational resources and academic performance in charter schools. Using Illinois Report Card data representing 119 public schools during the 2016 to 2017 academic year, we aimed to understand which group could more systemically benefit from charter schools. We found that although the enrollment of Black students might be associated with better educational resources (i.e., total number of school days per academic year, and class size), the enrollment of Latinx students predicted stronger school academic performance on the SAT and PARCC. Those findings can contribute to the debate about institutionalized racial inequality in education and the effects of charter schools.

The article describes the possible aspects of the organization of the methodology of teaching mathematics in primary classes through digital educational resources, content. The theoretical analysis is carried out and the content analysis of the conceptual and categorical apparatus of digital education in the concepts of "information competence, information technologies", "digital resource" is presented. The possibilities of "digital education" in primary classes are characterized generically in all the main subjects. There will also be samples of digital content prepared for the section "learning in parts" in the 4th grade according to the methodology of teaching mathematics in primary classes. In the section Research results, the article presents an algorithm for preparing digital resources. It is explained that the preparation of digital educational resources consists of text-based annimations, multimedia components (video clips, synthesizing images), and sound objects. A scenario for the preparation of digital content will be developed. The advantages of using digital resources in teaching mathematics in primary classes in the development of students ' cognitive abilities are analyzed. For example, the advantages of accessibility of education, personality-oriented learning, creation of an information educational environment, the possibility of choosing an individual trajectory, creative activity, motivational breakthrough, demonstration situation, etc. are described.

Drawing from a foundation of pedagogical research in pedagogy, digital learning, and 21st-century writing theory, this article posits that the situation of the COVID-19 pandemic necessitates a paradigm change in the educational apparatus. The article will work through the theories of several key figures in these studies and then detail the pedagogical changes and technologies used during an emergency, the online year, which helped the author adapt to the challenges of a suddenly dislocated and asynchronous classroom environment.

The article deals with the direction of philosophy - epistemology, it is a study of knowledge and cognition. The main aspects of epistemology are the dimensions of knowledge, the sources of knowledge and the reliability of knowledge. The education system deals with the acquisition of knowledge, the use of various sources of knowledge and the reflection of the reliability of knowledge in curricula. Learning content includes knowledge that helps to find, create and use new knowledge. Modern curriculum requires a review of all school knowledge, conceptual and factual apparatus of school education. Mankind has accumulated a tremendous amount of knowledge. Essential preconditions for the selection of educational content: that the acquired knowledge covers the basics of various sciences; so that the curriculum covers different types of knowledge; that the student acquires knowledge from different sources of knowledge and uses different dimensions of knowledge; so that in order to explain the processes taking place in the universe, the student uses the true knowledge, which is formed on the laws of eternal harmony, is structured and maintains the whole of the world. The topicality of the article is related to the modern study content, which is based on true structured knowledge. The aim of the article is to review the content of the curriculum so that students have access to quality knowledge that is organized in a system and considered as a whole, and explains the processes taking place in the world.

Methodology for the organisation of professional training of senior citizens: general concept

Introduction. The process of population aging in modern civilisation is developing at an increasing pace. Russia has not remained aloof from this trend. Intense aging of the population will lead, in particular, to the fact that older people will become a necessary resource for the labour market as well as for the society activity at both macro- and micro-levels. Continuing active employment of senior citizens is a new challenge facing states.The aim of present conceptual article is to theoretically substantiate and to develop approaches for building a model for organisation of senior citizens' professional training (persons from 50 to 70 years old). This type of training requires to be based on andragogy and geronto-gogy principles and to be targeted at continuing of labour activity by this category of population through acquisition of new professional knowledge and competencies.Methodology and research methods. The current research is based on the methodology of system-based analysis of theoretical sources, foreign and Russian pedagogical experience. Interdisciplinary and complex approaches were used to build the concept of the model to organise professional training of senior citizens.Results and scientific novelty. The obtained results allowed the author to conclude that at present stage of the Russian state and Russian society development, there is a need for scientific interdisciplinary knowledge, which substantiates the principles and didactic support of professional training of senior citizens in order to continue their active labour activity and to propose the concept for building the model for the organisation of such training. The conceptual model for the organisation of professional training of senior citizens is developed from the point of system-based approach and includes the following elements: 1) clarification of conceptual apparatus of senior adult education; 2) determination of anatomical and physiological features of senior citizens; 3) argumentation of the need of senior citizens for professional training; 4) determination of the peculiarities of professional training for senior citizens; 5) development of prerequisites list for successful learning of senior citizens; 6) formulation of learning objectives and tasks for its organisation; 7) choice of approaches for building the model of training and its principles as well as methodology for determining the quality and results of training.Practical significance. The proposed concept of the model for the organisation of professional training of senior citizens can be used as a basic concept for further theoretical and practical developments in this field.

Methodology of literary text approaches in high schools analysis and models

In this paper we have reviewed and analyzed literature textbooks at the pre-university level, respectively in the high school. In this research we have examined the way these texts are analyzed (the pedagogical apparatus as it is otherwise called). Such work is done considering the requirements of the latter to fulfill certain competencies provided by the program on which the text is drafted. The method we used is based on two parallel directions. One is about the comparison of the required competencies and those realized in the pedagogical apparatus of the textbooks of different publishing houses, which have gained the right to be part of the textbooks that can be selected by different schools for the treatment of the subject of literature. This is seen according to the rubrics provided by the program, those currently implemented, and the competencies suggested by us, which we do not see implemented by the first two. In parallel, we have identified the problems in terms of simple text analysis, in a stylistic, pragmatic-reflective plane, giving our suggestions for each case. About 80% of the textbooks show problems with the way the rubrics are constructed and almost 90% of the rubrics are constructed with questions that may go beyond the rubric topic. The paper is accompanied by a concrete example of text analysis suggested to the professional network of literature teachers. This model is based on the experience of Italian and French textbooks.
