This article presents a pedagogical proposal designed from the perspective of the teaching of recent history that takes as its object of study the experience of the Peace Communities of Uraba (Colombia), their actions against war, their organization and founding principles, implemented as school contents that promote students’ political education.On one hand, it is an approach of Colombian war victims and their memories to School, from the problematization of regional armed conflict, its causes, interests and impact on the communities living in these territories. On the other hand, it is a way to recognize and analyze alternatives for the pursuit of peace, from community actions that redefine this concept and traditional values such as freedom, respect, solidarity, plurality, among others.
