Analysis of the Role of Aviation Security and Safety Supervision of The Aviation Security Unit (AVSEC) at Sultan Babullah Airport, Ternate

Security and safety are crucial factors in aviation activities, considering the sensitivity of air transportation that requires certainty of safety at all times. The success of the duties and responsibilities of the Aviation Security unit is measured by their ability to optimize their supervisory role, thus creating safe and secure conditions, in accordance with applicable regulations and free from unlawful acts at an airport. This study aims to determine the supervision of the Aviation Security unit on flight security and safety at Sultan Babullah Ternate Airport and the supporting equipment used in its supervision. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. The data used are primary and secondary data. Primary data is obtained from observation and interviews, while secondary data comes from SOP, literature studies and photographs related to the problems studied. The data analysis techniques used are data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The research time is in August - September 2023. The results of this study indicate that the role of the Aviation Security unit supervision at Sultan Babullah Ternate Airport has been carried out properly according to the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) starting from checking passenger travel documents (identity), passenger body screening (body search), passenger baggage screening, monitoring the movement of everyone in the terminal, conducting routine patrols in all areas of the airport including the perimeter fence. Supervision with competent personnel who have been licensed. Avsec unit supervision aims to prevent unlawful acts and maintain the security and safety of flight activities. Supporting equipment in carrying out supervision is an X-Ray machine, HHMD (Hand Held Metal Detector), WTMD (Walk Through Metal Detector), EDS (Explosive Detection System), patrol vehicles and Closed Circuit Television (CCTV).

Contraband classification method for X-ray security images considering sample imbalance

X-ray security image contraband classification is widely used to assist in maintaining aviation and transportation security. This paper suggests an end-to-end X-ray security inspection image classification method that takes sample imbalance into account in order to address the issues of different scales of contraband in X-ray images, challenging samples, and unbalanced positive and negative samples inherent in passenger baggage security inspection. The feature fusion module is used to enhance the model's ability to express picture edge and texture features while the multi-scale feature extraction network is used to capture the features of numerous sorts of illegal goods with various scales. Based on the cost-sensitive idea, the loss function is designed to solve the problem of dataset imbalance, and improve the classification accuracy of difficult samples. experimental results of the subset constructed on the public dataset SIXray show that the proposed method improves the mean AP index by compared with the current optimal end-to-end classification model, especially for hard-to-classify samples such as scissors, the AP index has a significant improvement effect.

Time on task effects during interactive visual search.

There is a major shift taking place in airports across the globe, changing from 2D dual-view X-ray screening to 3D computed tomography (CT) screening. 3D CT screening is believed to improve target detection since it enables screeners to interact with images of passenger baggage (i.e., rotating and zooming into the displays). The change in screening technology is moving what was once a purely visual search task to an interactive search task. Here, we conducted two experiments with a large sample size during February of 2023 (695 participants) to examine (a) changes in search performance between a simulated dual-view and simulated interactive search task and (b) the effects of time on task upon performance. Consistent with past research, we found that interactive search, when compared with dual-view search, produced higher response accuracy rates coupled with increased reaction times (RTs). However, while we found effects of time on task (RTs reduced, and participants became more likely to respond "absent" as the experiments progressed), there was no evidence that these effects differed across simulated dual-view and simulated interactive searches. The results are discussed in relation to benefits of interactive search for supporting target detection by airport screeners. (PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2024 APA, all rights reserved).

Integrated aircraft routing and cargo routing problem for combination airlines

The combination airlines operate both passenger aircraft and freighter aircraft to meet passenger and cargo demand. At present, combination airlines employ a sequential approach to allocating their capacity for passenger and cargo demand. Nevertheless, implementing an integrated resource allocation procedure has the potential to improve overall resource allocation efficiency. In this paper, we introduce an integrated model to help combination airlines integrate their aircraft routing and cargo routing decisions to maximize the expected overall profits derived from both passenger and cargo demand. We considered the stochastic nature of passenger baggage and proposed a set of individual chance constraints to ensure the robustness of the integrated solution. We reformulate the chance constraints using piecewise linear approximation to ensure solution efficiency. In addition, we proposed a column-and-row generation based solution approach that removes the through-connection related constraints at the beginning of the solution process and then adds the columns and rows during the iterations as needed. We proved that the proposed column-and-row generation approach can obtain an optimal solution for the LP relaxation problem. The model and the solution approach were tested in a number of scenarios obtained from a major Chinese combination airline. The computational results show that the combination airline can improve their expected profits by integrating capacity allocation. The results also demonstrated that the proposed column-and-row generation solution approach can decrease the solution time of the integrated model. These findings indicate that the model and the solution method are useful and efficient tools for combination airlines when planning their aircraft and cargo routes.

Innovating Airport Luggage Disinfection Systems with Advanced Technologies and Automation

In this article, we point out that luggage disinfection is a key step in stopping the spread of infectious diseases that can be contracted at airports due to viruses and bacteria, which can spread through passenger luggage at airports. To prevent the spread of respiratory infections at airports, in this research study, we compare two types of baggage disinfection system. The first method uses UV light to disinfect luggage while selectively checking it for the presence of bacteria and viruses. The second system uses non-selective disinfection, taking into account the possibility of the spread of disease from the aircraft’s home country. An analysis and simulation of a specific airport security procedure was carried out on the model under study, which is an automated system for disinfecting baggage at airports in two variants. The aim is to reduce the transmission of harmful diseases and, at the same time, to ensure the accuracy of passenger security screening by efficiently exhausting each of the proposed models. This research shows that the suggested measures to stop the spread of infectious diseases that travelers’ luggage can bring in will enhance screening procedures and, in particular, boost overall security while lowering the risk of infection transmission at airports.

Research on fire hazard assessment of metro baggage based on improved hierarchical analysis

Underground station passenger flow is large, the number of parcels carried by passengers is large and varied, and the parcels carried have an impact on the fire hazard and evacuation of the station. In order to determine the weights of the passenger luggage risk and environmental factor index system in the fire risk evaluation of underground stations in a more realistic way, an optimized and improved hierarchical analysis method for determining the judgement matrix is proposed, which improves the traditional nine-scaled method and adopts the three-scaled method for the four major categories of luggage, namely, handbags, rucksacks, portable power tools and trolley cases. The advantage of this method is that there is no need for consistency judgement in determining packages with a wide range of types and uncertain contents, thus simplifying the calculation. Meanwhile, the reasonableness and reliability of the method is verified by combining it with an actual metro station fire risk assessment system.

In maintaining airport security, each airport has a security officer, namely Aviation Security (AVSEC). AVSEC are airport security personnel who are required to have responsibility for ensuring flight security who are required to have a license, the role of Aviation Security (AVSEC) officers is very important in security and safety. This study aims to determine whether the role of Aviation Security (AVSEC) officers in carrying out their responsibilities for security is in accordance with the SOP, and what problems occur when Aviation Security (AVSEC) officers are carrying out their duties. This study uses qualitative methods, data collection techniques in this study are interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis techniques using data reduction, data presentation, and data conclusions/verification. The results of this study indicate that the role of Aviation Security (AVSEC) officers has carried out their duties properly in accordance with applicable SOPs and always prioritizes 3S + 1C for passenger comfort. Obstacles during passenger inspection caused an error in the engine so that the inspection was not optimal and inspection of passenger luggage was carried out manually by Aviation Security (AVSEC) officers. ,

Penerapan Pelayanan Prima (Service Excellent) pada Pemeriksaan X-Ray di Bandar Udara Internasional Adi Soemarmo Solo

Excellent service has an important role in a business in the field of aviation companies. The main factor in providing satisfaction for customers is that excellent service can provide satisfaction to customers which will then certainly provide good value to the sustainability of the company. Airports have facilities and infrastructure to support service activities such as implementing excellent service at X-Ray checks. Aviation Security officers must apply good excellent service to generate trust and satisfaction to passengers so that researchers are interested in knowing how the application of excellent service by Aviation Security officers to passengers when checking luggage on X-Ray machines and what should be developed in excellent service to passengers at Adi Soemarmo Solo International Airport. This research uses qualitative methods, namely data collection methods in the form of interviews, observation, and documentation. The data obtained in the form of interviews with Aviation Security officers at Adi Soemarmo Solo International Airport and documents used to carry out daily activities. The results of this study indicate an explanation of the data taken by researchers both in terms of observation, interviews, and documentation that the form of service at the X-Ray inspection is the passenger luggage organizer, X-Ray operator, and manual checking of luggage. The results of researcher observations in the application of excellent service to passengers are only 50% and prioritize flight safety security 50%. Based on data sources from interviews conducted by researchers, that the implementation of excellent service strategies carried out by Aviation Security officers is by Applying Hospitality, Organizing passenger queues, Maximizing personnel, and the 3S + 1C Concept.

An Overview of Demand Analysis and Forecasting Algorithms for the Flow of Checked Baggage among Departing Passengers

The research on baggage flow plays a pivotal role in achieving the efficient and intelligent allocation and scheduling of airport service resources, as well as serving as a fundamental element in determining the design, development, and process optimization of airport baggage handling systems. This paper examines baggage checked in by departing passengers at airports. The crrent state of the research on baggage flow demand is first reviewed and analyzed. Then, using examples of objective data, it is concluded that while there is a significant correlation between airport passenger flow and baggage flow, an increase in passenger flow does not necessarily result in a proportional increase in baggage flow. According to the existing research results on the influencing factors of baggage flow sorting and classification, the main influencing factors of baggage flow are divided into two categories: macro-influencing factors and micro-influencing factors. When studying the relationship between the economy and baggage flow, it is recommended to use a comprehensive analysis that includes multiple economic indicators, rather than relying solely on GDP. This paper provides a brief overview of prevalent transportation flow prediction methods, categorizing algorithmic models into three groups: based on mathematical and statistical models, intelligent algorithmic-based models, and combined algorithmic models utilizing artificial neural networks. The structures, strengths, and weaknesses of various transportation flow prediction algorithms are analyzed, as well as their application scenarios. The potential advantages of using artificial neural network-based combined prediction models for baggage flow forecasting are explained. It concludes with an outlook on research regarding the demand for baggage flow. This review may provide further research assistance to scholars in airport management and baggage handling system development.

Evaluation Of Port Service User Services At Tanjung Kapal Crossing Port, Bengkalis District, Riau Province

The Tanjung Kapal Ferry Port serves one route, namely the Rupat – Dumai route. Based on the results of the survey in the field, it was found that several services for service users had not been implemented properly, such as the unavailability of fire extinguishers, evacuation route instructions, evacuation gathering points, first aid equipment, wheelchairs, floor plans/layouts port, passenger baggage, parking attendants, special needs passenger facilities, nursing mother room, signs at the pier, weigh bridge, and arrival and departure schedules at the counter. This research uses the methodPerformance Gap – Importanceto determine the gap between service users' expectations of perceived service quality and quadrant mapping Importance Performance Analysisto find out the attributes that are the main priority for improving service quality. Based on the results of Gap analysisPerformance – Importancea gap was found highest for passenger service at the port with a value of - 2.30 on attribute 32 and attribute. The highest gap for ship service at the port with a value of - 0.66 on attribute 1 and attribute 8. The highest gap for vehicle service at the port with a value of - 2 .10 on attribute.Based on the results of the Quadrant Mapping analysisImportance Performance Analysis There are 10 attributes in quadrant I for passenger services, 2 attributes for ship services and 8 attributes for vehicle services as the main priority for improvement so that the level of service user satisfaction can increase.

Analysis of deck house height and center of gravity in anti-capsize patrol boat

The design of patrol boats, especially in Indonesian waters which have extreme sea conditions, requires fairly good stability capabilities and special self-righting capabilities. Designing a self-righting ship will be closely related to the ship stability because the center of gravity (G) is affected by the load and the height of the deckhouse of a ship, which has implications for the ship’s self-righting. Present study was carried out with experimental study for patrol boat design that has capability self-righting moment. The patroal boat has 4 deckhouse height variations with 2.01 m, 2.11 m, 2.21 m, and 2.31 m, respectively. There are 4 variations of the load conditions, i.e., the condition with 50% of the maximum amount of cargo, the condition 50% the passengers and cargo, full load condition without passengers, and the last one is the condition of the passenger baggage is only 50%. The results showed that a deckhouse with a height of 2.01 m has the worst GZ curve analysis, where in some conditions the results touch a negative number before heeling to 180°. The results showed by trial and error that the minimum deckhouse height is 2.07 m to have a self-righting moment in all conditions.

Otomatisasi Sistem Bagasi Terminal Internasional Di Bandar Udara Jenderal Ahmad Yani Semarang

The increasing number of flights proves that the public believes air transportation is one of the most desirable. Of course, the operation of the claim baggage conveyor will increase along with the number of existing passenger luggage. For this reason, the operation of the baggage claim conveyor needs to be done with the help of technology. This research was conducted to assist the work of airline porters, including time and energy efficiency through technology. This tool uses the Arduino Uno microcontroller as the program processing centre. This system will work when the Infrared sensor detects baggage after an x-ray, so the conveyor will be activated automatically. After the conveyor runs, another Infrared sensor will see the baggage on the conveyor. The conveyor will stop automatically when the Infrared sensor does not detect any baggage for a particular time. This tool is equipped with a Push Button so that the baggage claim conveyor can be operated manually and an LCD to explain the instrument's condition and the amount of baggage available. The amount of luggage can be monitored periodically via a smartphone using the ESP8266 WiFi module.

THE EFFECT OF BAGGAGE HANDLING SYSTEM LEVEL 3 ON OPERATION OFFICER PERFORMANCE

Baggage handling has an important role in maintaining the comfort of passengers traveling by aircraft and security in processing baggage. Baggage Handling System (BHS) is a service in the form of a conveyor to transport passenger baggage after check-in and automatic sorting with Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology that reads radio frequencies contained in baggage to be sent to the aircraft according to its destination. This study aims to determine the effect of Baggage Handling System level 3 on the performance of operational officers at Kualanamu International Airport Medan with quantitative research methods that take data using questionnaire data and literature studies. The determination of the sample with the Slovin formula was 30 people and then the results of the respondents' answers were processed using SPSS with validity tests, reliability tests, normality tests, homogeneity tests and T tests. The calculation results obtained the results of the T test, which is a significant value of 0.000, meaning that the significance value is smaller than (0.05), so it can be concluded that there is a significant influence of the implementation of the Baggage Handling System level 3 (independent variable x) on the performance of operational officers (dependent variable y).

Penggunaan Web Baggage Central Tracking Citilink (BCTC) Untuk Menangani Irregularity Property Pada Maskapai Citilink di Bandar Udara Internasional

PT Citilink or Citilink Indonesia is a subsidiary of the Garuda Indonesia (Persero) company. This airline uses a low-cost flight system or Low Cost Carrier (LCC) with Lost and Found Services related to handling passenger luggage on Citilink airlines, but many people don't know about it. part of the baggage handling itself, one of which is the use of Citilink's Web Baggage Central Tracking (BCTC), in handling Irregularity Property. The purpose of this research is to find out the use of the BCTC web in handling Irregularity Property in the Lost and Found unit at Yogyakarta International Airport and to find out the obstacles faced in using the BCTC web in handling Irregularity Property in the Lost and Found unit at Yogyakarta International Airport.This study used descriptive qualitative method. This research was carried out on April 1– April 20 2023 at Citilink Airlines, Yogyakarta Kulon Progo International Airport, Citilink Airlines, Yogyakarta Kulon Progo International Airport. The data collection techniques used in this research were documentation, observation and interviews with Lost and Found unit officers at Yogyakarta International Airport. Data analysis techniques use data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions.The results of the research show that in handling baggage damage, passengers who experience property irregularities can report it to the relevant officers or make a report on Citilink's official BCTC website to get further action in accordance with Citilink airline's standard operating procedures for handling baggage damage. and baggage damage is handled within 14 days from receipt of the complaint submitted by the passenger to the airline. Obstacles in using the BCTC Web to handle Irregularity Property at the Lost and Found unit of Yogyakarta International Airport include technical problems, coordination with airlines, the need for adequate resources, and increasing passenger volume. The proposed solution includes intensive training, formation of a technical team, development of collaboration protocols, adequate budget allocation, and proper growth planning.

The Impact of the Level of Training of Airport Security Control Operators on the Energy Consumption of the Baggage Control Process

The article focuses on the study of the impact of the level of training of security control operators (SCOs) at airports on the energy consumption of the passenger baggage control process. With the constant growing emphasis on security at airports, the intensification of training processes for security personnel, especially those dealing with baggage control, has become very dynamic. An essential aspect in times of sustainable development is optimizing all kinds of processes (including training processes) to reduce energy consumption. The analysis of the demand for energy used to conduct this type of training and the impact of the operator’s training level on the energy consumption of the control process are entirely ignored and have not been the subject of research by scientists so far. Therefore, this is a research gap that the authors are trying to fill in this article. The impact of safety system operator training levels on ensuring optimal energy efficiency was critically analyzed. The added value of the article is the authors’ model assessing the influence of the level of training of the SCO on the energy consumption of the control process. The effects of the frequency, duration and level of operator training on energy consumption rates were investigated. The authors’ activities aimed to identify the most energy-efficient approaches to training without compromising its quality and, thus, the safety of passengers. The article discusses potential strategies for minimizing energy use and draws conclusions that can help airport administrations and training providers adopt sustainable and energy-efficient training practices.

Evaluation Of Passenger Services At Kendari France Port Based On The Regulation Of The Minister Of Transportation Number Pm 39 Year 2015 Southeast Sulawesi Province

The Kendari crossing harbor is a pioneer crossing that serves the three-hour commuter crossing. The government has made every effort to support economic development in the konave region. Quantitative risk assessment of African swine fever introduction into Spain by legal import of swine products

African swine fever (ASF) is currently threatening the global swine industry. Its unstoppable global spread poses a serious risk to Spain, one of the world's leading producers. Over the past years, there has been an increased global burden of ASF not only in swine but also swine products. Unfortunately, many pigs are not diagnosed before slaughter and their products are used for human consumption. These ASF-contaminated products are only a source for new ASF outbreaks when they are consumed by domestic pigs or wild boar, which may happen either by swill feeding or landfill access. This study presents a quantitative stochastic risk assessment model for the introduction of ASF into Spain via the legal import of swine products, specifically pork and pork products. Entry assessment, exposure assessment, consequence assessment and risk estimation were carried out. The results suggest an annual probability of ASF introduction into Spain of 1.74 × 10−4, the highest risk being represented by Hungary, Portugal, and Poland. Monthly risk distribution is homogeneously distributed throughout the year. Illegal trade and pork product movement for own consumption (e.g., air and ship passenger luggage) have not been taken into account due to the lack of available, accredited data sources. This limitation may have influenced the model's outcomes and, the risk of introduction might be higher than that estimated. Nevertheless, the results presented herein would contribute to allocating resources to areas at higher risk, improving prevention and control strategies and, ultimately, would help reduce the risk of ASF introduction into Spain.

Analisis Petugas Aviation Security Dalam Penerapan Standard Operating Procedure Pada Security Check Point (SCP) Di Bandar Udara Sultan Babullah Ternate

Safety in the aviation world is the responsibility of the Avsec unit which is in charge of checking passengers and passenger luggage. Negligence of Avsec officers in carrying out their duties can endanger flights. There was a dangerous action that occurred at Sultan Babullah Ternate Airport, where the X-RAY machine at SCP1 at the airport was found to be unattended by officers properly on August 12, 2022.This causes all passengers' luggage to be completely unchecked. This study aims to determine the supervision carried out by the Aviation Security unit in maintaining flight security and safety by applying Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) at the Security Check Point (SCP) at Sultan Babullah Ternate Airport and the obstacles it faces. This research is qualitative with primary and secondary data. Primary data are obtained from interviews and observations, while secondary data are obtained from documentation. This research was carried out at the Aviation Security unit at Sultan Babullah Airport Ternate and carried out in April 2023. The result of this study is that surveillance on SCP 1 is carried out by supervising passengers and their luggage where the passengers will go to the limited security area or check-in area. This supervision is carried out because the luggage that will be put on the plane is one of the main factors related to flight safety. Supervision must be carried out optimally because there are passengers carrying dangerous goods, these passengers must be directed to a special inspection room to be checked in detail while the obstacles in the application of Standard Operating Procedures at the Security Check Point (SCP) at Sultan Babullah Ternate Airport, namely there are still many passengers with high positions and high social status arbitrarily against flight rules or inspection rules. In addition, another obstacle is that there are officers who are negligent in carrying out the Standard Operating Procedure at the Security Check Point (SCP) at Sultan Babullah Ternate Airport.

Analisis Penanganan Bagasi Hilang Oleh Petugas Lost And Found PT Kokapura Avia Pada Maskapai Lion Air Di Bandar Udara Internasional Yogyakarta

PT Kokapura Avia has many work units. One of the PT Kokapura Avia is a lost and found unit. Lost and found is a place for passengers to report if their baggage is lost or damaged (SOP/ aas-aqp - 001/2019). The principal task of lost and found is to check the baggage number on the passenger with the baggage label on it, caring for any excess and shortages or damage to luggage experienced by a passenger. The reason for the lack of passenger luggage is that an employee's labeling or misloading of luggage onto another flight. The deviation of the baggage services usually takes place when passengers arrive at the terminal. As for the research, it is aimed at locating the missing baggage tracing and storage system and the application of cooperation between Lion Air and International Airport Yogyakarta in lost baggage tracing of lost and found PT Kokapoura Avia. The study uses qualitative research methods. By using data collection techniques of observation, interview and documentation. Interviews use semi-structured techniques and data analysis using three techniques which are data reduction, data display and deduction drawing. Based on the result show the preparation of the lost and found provides a pear (an arity report source) used to screened the baggage claim by passengers. They include passenger identification and claim tag statements that are already matched with data found in the system of the lost and found unit. There are two courses of tracing that are tracing by CCTV and tracing by E-mail. Yogyakarta's international airport operations provide facilities and CCTV services in cooperation while lion air airlines provide a system that is used by lost and found and is responsible for providing compensation to passengers.
