Sports events have carried out comprehensive social-cultural functions, and have developed through organization and formalization by having been infiltrated deeply through all over the society. The sports events can be a important factor in that by sharing sports events together, identity and self-conceit about a community can be built. Therefore the purpose of this study is to identify how residents` motive factors of participation in community sports events influence community consciousness formation. The subjects of this study were spectators gathered in Daegeon World Cup Stadium to watch Samsung Hauzen K-league. Using convenient sampling method, 600 samples were collected, and of them, 527 samples were finally used for data analysis. Schematized questionnaires based on self-administration method were employed for the research instrument. Statistic techniques used to analyze the collected data were frequence analysis, and multiple regression analyses. The results are as follows. First, participation motive factors of sports events have an effect on community we-feeling; experience of different culture, purchase, leisure and health, self-improvement, and topics showed to influence participation motive factors of sports events. Second, participation motive factors of sports events have an effect on self-conceit to a community; leisure and health, harmony and approach to society, the field influenced self-conceit to a community Third, participation motive factors of sports events have an effect on participation willingness for a commitment; leisure and health, the field, self-improvement, topics influenced participation willingness for a commitment. Fourth, participation motive factors of sports events have an effect on role consciousness in a community ; leisure and health, harmony and approach to society, self-improvement, topics influenced role consciousness in a community. Fifth, participation motive factors of sports events have on effect on the cognition of integration of a community; leisure and health, harmony and approach to society influenced the cognition of integration of a community. Sixth, participation motive factors of sports events have an effect on dependence consciousness in a community; purchase, harmony and approach, the field, self-improvement, topics showed to influence dependence consciousness in a community. These results show that the attraction of the field, truth, mystery, attachment to a community and patriotism, topics, health, popularity involved in community sports events significantly have an effect on community consciousness formation of residents participating in sports events. So it can be implied that the sports events in z community can be used as a means of social interactive communication between residents, and through the coherence the sports events can fluence community development.
