Case Report: A 72 years old female patient came to prosthodontics specialty clinic at Universitas Airlangga Dental hospital with a chief complaint to replace her upper right and left posterior teeth which are lost due to extraction so she can eat properly. The teeth was extracted 3 months ago due to cavities and swelling. The patient reported to have had used partial denture for the past 4 years and currently cannot use them anymore because of the many teeth missing. The treatment chosen for this case is metal frame removable partial denture Conclusion: Metal frame RPD provides satisfaction to the patient and improve aesthetic and function.

Age determination of the wildcat (Felis silvestris): a case study of a sample from the North-Western Black Sea region (Ukraine)

In recent decades, the wildcat (Felis silvestris) population has been increasing along the eastern edge of its range in Ukraine, associated with the recolonisation of territories previously inhabited by the species. An essential aspect of analysing this process is studying population dynamics, including sex and age structures. Knowing the individual age of animals is a crucial prerequisite for investigating many aspects of their life cycle and population dynamics. This information is particularly important for Felis silvestris, a rare species included in international and national lists of protected animals, for the conservation and management of its populations. This necessitates the verification of age determination methods in specific Felis silvestris populations, particularly in the south-western regions of Ukraine. To determine the age of wildcats, we employed both traditional, non-invasive methods—such as analysing suture obliteration and dental morphometric characters—and methods requiring partial tooth destruction, such as studying changes in dentin volume and cementum in the root of the canines. Cementochronology was found to be the only method allowing the wildcat population to be divided into seven year classes. Cement deposition primarily occurs at the apical tip of the canine root, allowing the use of only the lower third of the tooth for analysis. This is particularly important when working with collection materials of rare species. In the first year of life (0+), dentin fills no more than 20% of the pulp cavity width. In subsequent year classes, dentin deposition occupies at least 70% of the pulp cavity volume, enabling a clear division of the wildcat population into two groups: young (0+) and older individuals. The distance between the enamel at the neck of the canine and the edge of its alveolus is an effective tool for distinguishing young and adult individuals. The analysis of alveolar recession relative to the neck enamel can be considered a promising method for determining age groups in wildcats, including both deceased and living individuals. The use of basicranial sutures of the skull was found to be less informative: the sutures at the skull base ossify late, while the obliteration between the maxilla and premaxilla in the nasal area is only partially expressed.

Denture use and a slower rate of cognitive decline among older adults with partial tooth loss in China: A 10-year prospective cohort study.

Denture use has been shown to improve nutritional intake and diet quality in people with tooth loss. Despite evidence linking tooth loss and dementia, few studies have examined the association between denture use and cognitive decline. We investigated the relationship between denture use and cognitive decline among Chinese older adults with tooth loss. We analyzed data from the Chinese Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Survey 2008-2018, including 27,708 community-dwelling dentate and edentulous (i.e., who have lost all natural teeth) older adults aged 65 and older. Cognitive function was assessed using the Mini-Mental State Examination from 2008 to 2018. Linear mixed-effect models were employed to assess the association of denture use with baseline cognitive function and rate of cognitive decline, adjusting for sociodemographic characteristics, health-related behavior, and health status. Subgroup analyses evaluated differences in associations among dentate participants with varying degrees of tooth loss (1-9, 10-19, 20-31). Compared to non-denture users, dentate participants who used dentures had better baseline cognitive function (β, 1.032; 95% CI, 0.813-1.251; p < 0.001) and a slower annual decline in cognitive function (β, 0.127; 95% CI, 0.047-0.206; p < 0.01). For edentulous participants, denture use was associated with higher baseline cognitive function (β, 3.063; 95% CI, 2.703-3.423; p < 0.001) but not with the rate of cognitive decline (β, 0.011; 95% CI, -0.082 to 0.105; p = 0.818). Results remained consistent across subgroups of dentate participants with various degrees of missing teeth. Denture use may help protect against cognitive decline in older adults with partial tooth loss. This study highlights the potential importance of prosthodontic rehabilitation in preserving cognitive health. Further research is needed to establish a causal relationship between denture use and cognitive function.

The influence of adhesive creams on the period of adaptation to removable dentures

Adentia, whether partial or complete, is a common condition in the population, especially among older individuals. Although removable orthodontic devices are an effective solution for adentia, dentures can cause irritation in the oral cavity. The nature and duration of symptoms experienced by patients using dentures for the first time depend on various factors, such as the condition of their teeth and gums, jaw bone density, prosthesis design, psychological factors, and previous dental work. Studies have shown that special adhesive agents can improve the fit of removable dentures, leading to faster adaptation and better stability, even in challenging oral conditions. Using adhesives not only helps with new prostheses but also enhances comfort with existing ones, reduces movement while eating, and prevents food from getting trapped under the denture. This ultimately improves the patient's psychological well-being, reduces the foreign body sensation, and enhances quality of life. Proper maintenance and use of removable dentures can prevent jaw bone atrophy and degenerative changes in the oral tissues. Literature review revealed the numerous variables that impact the successful treatment of total or partial tooth loss in patients. The incorporation of bonding agents unquestionably enhances the adjustment process to removable orthodontic devices by enhancing stability, a critical factor in the early stages of prosthesis use. However, it is essential to consider other various factors that influence the complexity and duration of adaptation, such as the characteristics of the dental structure, oral mucosa condition, jaw bone atrophy level, prosthesis selection and design, patient's psychological state, presence of macroglossia, previous prosthetic work, or its absence.

Internal septa of the maxillary sinus and their significance in the planning of endodontic interventions, sinus lifting and dental implantation using a collagen matrix scaffold

INTRODUCTION. The study of the structure of the septa in the area of the maxillary sinus floor is important when planning implantation and sinus lifting operations. The height, number and location of the septa can affect the course of the sinus lifting operation. The aim is to study the structure of the maxillary sinus septa, their height, size, localization in order to prevent complications during surgical interventions.MATERIAL AND METHODS. The article analyzes CBCT data from 444 patients for the presence of septa in the area of the lower wall of the maxillary sinus. The subjects were divided into two groups: with the presence of premolars and molars (288 CBCT) and with the absence of at least one chewing tooth (156 CBCT). A study of 48 passportized skulls was conducted, the anterior wall of the maxillary sinus was sawed out, the structure of the sinus floor and septa was studied in detail. The ratio of the volume of compact and spongy bone substance in the premolar and molar areas was also measured.RESULTS. The obtained research data allowed us to obtain new information about the number of septa in the case of a complete dentition and partial tooth loss. Due to changes in the processes of sinus pneumatization, the number of septa increases with partial tooth loss. Their presence increases the risk of perforation of the Schneiderian membrane during sinus lift surgery, including the use of scaffolds based on a collagen matrix. However, when installing an implant in the base of the septum, its stability can be ensured, since the septa are some kind of buttresses of the maxillary bone. The ratio of the volume of spongy and compact bone substance in the premolar and molar area changes with age.CONCLUSION. The study found that the presence of coronal septa can cause complications of sinus lift surgery in the form of perforation of the Schneiderian membrane. At the same time, septa, being buttresses of the maxillary bone, can serve as a basis for installing an implant. With partial loss of teeth, the number of coronal septa increases. With age, the ratio of spongy and compact bone substance changes, towards a decrease in the volume of trabecular and an increase in the volume of compact bone.

Diagnosis of auditory disorders in dental patients with altered occlusal relationships (Part 1)

Relevance. Recently, dental patients have been increasingly presenting with not only aesthetic, functional, and painrelated concerns, but also various otological symptoms, such as ear congestion, discomfort, and perceived hearing loss. These symptoms may be linked to underlying dental conditions, especially those involving a reduction in interalveolar distance (IAD), and must be carefully differentiated from ENT disorders and true hearing impairment.Objective: To evaluate the auditory function in dental patients with partial tooth loss and complaints of pathological otological symptoms.Materials and methods. The study included 357 dental patients aged 43 to 72 years, comprising 287 women (80.4%) and 70 men (19.6%) with partial tooth loss. The examination involved a functional-physiological method for determining the central relationship of the jaws using the Apparatus for Determining Central Occlusion (AOTSO) and tonal threshold audiometry.Results. A reduction in interalveolar height of varying degrees was confirmed in 325 (91%) patients with dental arch defects, while no decrease was observed in 23 (9%) patients. All patients with otological complaints exhibited a reduction in lower facial height. Of the 87 patients with otological complaints, 37 (42.5%) were diagnosed with significant hearing loss based on tonal threshold audiometry.Conclusion. The examination of this group of dental patients with dental arch defects, utilizing modern diagnostic methods, confirmed a reduction in interalveolar distance. Additionally, otological complaints were identified, and pathological auditory conditions, such as various forms of hearing loss, were verified through tonal threshold audiometry.

Mosasaur (Reptilia, Mosasauridae) remains from the Upper Cretaceous of Colombia, including the first occurrence of the genus Globidens

Isolated mosasaur teeth and vertebrae recovered from beds of the Guadalupe Group of central Boyacá, Colombia, are reported. A partial tooth crown identified as Globidens sp., found in the Labor-Tierna Formation (Maastrichtian), represents the first report of this genus from northern South America and its most equatorial occurrence. A tooth crown recovered from the Plaeners Formation (upper Campanian–lower Maastrichtian), represents the youngest record of the subfamily Plioplatecarpinae in Colombia. These occurrences collectively constitute the youngest record of the family Mosasauridae in Colombia and expand both the taxonomic diversity and biogeography of mosasaurids in northern South America.

Digital Dental Biometrics for Human Identification Based on Automated 3D Point Cloud Feature Extraction and Registration.

Intraoral scans (IOS) provide precise 3D data of dental crowns and gingival structures. This paper explores an application of IOS in human identification. We propose a dental biometrics framework for human identification using 3D dental point clouds based on machine learning-related algorithms, encompassing three stages: data preprocessing, feature extraction, and registration-based identification. In the data preprocessing stage, we use the curvature principle to extract distinguishable tooth crown contours from the original point clouds as the holistic feature identification samples. Based on these samples, we construct four types of local feature identification samples to evaluate identification performance with severe teeth loss. In the feature extraction stage, we conduct voxel downsampling, then extract the geometric and structural features of the point cloud. In the registration-based identification stage, we construct a coarse-to-fine registration scheme in order to realize the identification task. Experimental results on a dataset of 160 individuals demonstrate that our method achieves a Rank-1 recognition rate of 100% using complete tooth crown contours samples. Utilizing the remaining four types of local feature samples yields a Rank-1 recognition rate exceeding 96.05%. The proposed framework proves effective for human identification, maintaining high identification performance even in extreme cases of partial tooth loss.

Stackable Guide and Immediate Full Arch Loading: A Retrospective Cohort Study of 43 Edentulous Arches-The STAGE Study.

As the population gets older, the prevalence of complete or partial tooth loss is increasing, significantly impacting people's quality of life. Scientific research demonstrates that implant-fixed complete dentures offer high levels of satisfaction. In certain cases, tooth loss can lead to significant bone atrophy, necessitating pre-implant bone reconstruction. We conducted a retrospective cohort study involving 43 arches, including or not bone grafts, rehabilitated using a stackable guided approach, which included an immediate loading protocol. The primary outcome measure was the survival rate of the implant at 4 months. The digital workflow helps the design of the provisional prothesis before the implant surgery, which will be loaded immediately after the implant's placement. The stacked guides integrate both surgical and prosthetic considerations into a digital workflow. A total of 284 implants were placed. After a 4-month follow-up period, 10 implants (3.5%) exhibited no osseointegration and were subsequently replaced, resulting in an overall success rate of 96.5%. After 1 year of follow-up, a prosthetic success rate of 100% was observed, with all patients being able to progress to the stages for the permanent fixed dentures. Our findings support the use of this protocol for all patients, whether they require bone grafts or not. However, a long-term follow-up is essential for a comprehensive evaluation of these treatment outcomes.

Study on multi-state of meshing-impacting dynamic characteristics of spur gear systems considering friction under localized tooth breakage

Localized tooth breakage is one of the common failures of spur gears, which affects the smooth and safe operation of spur gear transmission systems. The tooth collision cannot be neglected, and it is especially important to reveal the meshing-impacting dynamic characteristics of the gear system under localized tooth breakage to improve the safe and stable operation of the gear system. Based on the gear meshing principle and the dissipative collision contact force model, the drive-side tooth meshing model and back-side tooth impacting model are established with considering the transient nature of tooth back-side contact. The tooth surface meshing model and tooth back collision model under partial breakage are established. According to the contact state and force environment of the gear pair, the multi-state meshing-impacting behaviour under local breakage is classified, and the discrete meshing-impact dynamics model of an involute spur gear system under local breakage is established to explore the influence of local breakage on the meshing stiffness and load distribution. The mechanism of contact force under partial tooth breakage is revealed, and the influence of load coefficient and meshing frequency on the nonlinear dynamics is studied by defining two Poincaré maps. It is found that local tooth breakage affects the contact force of single-and double-tooth meshes and reduces gear load carrying capacity. Larger loads inhibit back-side impact, and smaller loads induce the coexistence behaviour and back-side impact. Larger or smaller meshing frequency induce back-side impact behaviour. The coexistence of chaotic and periodic motions induces back-side impact behaviour, and localized tooth breakage affects the coexistence phenomenon and aggravates the complexity of the dynamic behaviour. The dynamic model of gear system considering energy dissipation and nonlinear vibration under the presence of local tooth breakage of the pinion is explored, and the conditions of back-side impact are studied. This research provides new methods and ideas for nonlinear dynamic modelling and analysis of faulty gear systems.

Evaluation of Clinical Success of the 3D-Printed Custom-Made Subperiosteal Implants.

The authors aim to share their experiences in subperiosteal implant applications in atrophic jaws, which have been practiced in their clinic for about 2 years, and evaluate the complications and clinical success of the implants. Clinical and radiologic data of 32 patients who underwent subperiosteal implantation for advanced alveolar bone loss were evaluated, but 1 patient was excluded as they smoked. Of the 31 patients included in the study, 27 were operated with the diagnosis of total tooth loss, 3 for maxillectomy and 1 for partial tooth loss. A total of 60 subperiosteal implants were placed in them. The mean follow-up period was 15 months. During the operation, implant-bone adaptation problems were encountered in 11 patients, implant skeletal fracture in 1 patient, and loss of primary stabilization during mini-screw fixation in 2. Although there were no complications in the early postoperative period, biological and prosthetic complications occurred in the late postoperative period. Soft tissue retraction at various levels in 12 patients (only keratinized tissue retraction in 6 and mucosal retraction exceeding keratinized tissue in 6), soft tissue infection in 5 and oroantral fistula development in 1, mini-screw loosening in 3 were the biological complications that occurred. Various complications may occur during or after the application of custom-made subperiosteal implants. However, these are manageable and can be reapplied in case of a possible implant loss, making it an important alternative, especially in atrophic jaws where endosseous dental implants cannot be applied.

Results of application of the IRIS dental implants with the surface modified by the method of plasma electrolytic oxidation

Surface modifications of dental implants to provide optimal conditions for osseointegration remains an urgent task in modern dental implantology. A few publications demonstrate that the surface of the dental implants modified by plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) possess a combination of several important features that promote osteointegration: optimal micro roughness within 1-7 microns, high chemical purity, and mechanical strength [8,20].The aim. To evaluate the clinical efficacy of IRIS implants with a new surface modified by the PEO method (hereinafter referred to as IRIS PEO).Materials and methods. Based on the Patrice Lumumba RUDN Medical Center and the Center of Medical Care for Dental Diseases, FGBU «Central Clinical Hospital with Polyclinic» of the Presidential Affairs Department of the Russian Federation, 60 patients aged 27 to 52 years with partial tooth loss were examined and treated. The patients received 1 IRIS-PEO implant each on the upper or lower jaw. All implants were placed with the force from 35 to 50 N/cm2, with gingiva shapers. Prosthetics were performed after 2 months on the lower jaw and after 4 months on the upper jaw. Before taking impressions, the stability of implants was measured using the Penguin RFA (Integration Diagnostic Sweden AB, Sweden). One year after prosthetics, the neck resorption of the implants was evaluated.Results. Because of the treatment, all prosthetic constructions met the functional and aesthetic requirements. The stability indices of implants in ISQ units on the upper jaw averaged 75±3.4, on the lower jaw 79±2.4. Bone resorption in the implants’ neck area 1 year after the end of the treatment was not observed. The pilot clinical study of the IRIS-PEO implants allowed to optimize the terms of rehabilitation and to obtain high functional and esthetic result in the treatment of patients with tooth loss.Conclusions. Pilot clinical implementation of the implants of the IRIS system with the surface modified by plasma electrolytic oxidation demonstrated the possibility of open management of the implants with the gingiva shaper, to carry out prosthetics in 2 months on the lower jaw and 4 months on the upper jaw. No neck resorption was observed one year after prosthetics.

First report in the fossil record of a shark tooth embedded in a pinniped bone

There are now many examples in the fossil record of shark bite marks preserved on biogenic materials including coprolites, ammonoids, sea star ossicles, an echinoid, and bone and calcified cartilage. These exceptional fossils document evidence of exploratory behavior, active predation, and/or scavenging. However, only a small subset report on the presence of shark teeth embedded in fossilized bone or cartilage. Although a few shark tooth-marked seal bones are known from the fossil record, no direct evidence of predation or scavenging in the form of a shark tooth embedded in a fossil seal bone has yet been documented. Herein, we describe the first shark tooth embedded in a seal (Phocidae Gray, 1821) bone, a calcaneum (CMM-V-6964), that was surface collected in Mosaic’s South Fort Meade Mine, Hardee County, Fort Meade, Florida, United States. The isolated bone originated from within the Bone Valley Member of the Peace River Formation (Hawthorn Group). The partial tooth is identified as having come from an Early Pliocene great white shark, Carcharodon carcharias (Linnaeus, 1758). This discovery also represents the first C. carcharias tooth ever found embedded in a fossil bone. The embedded tooth may have come about as a result of active predation or scavenging. The extant macropredatory sharks, Carcharodon carcharias (great white shark), Notorynchus cepedianus (Péron, 1807) (sevengill shark), Somniosus microcephalus (Bloch &amp; Schneider, 1801) (the Greenland shark), and Somniosus antarcticus Whitley, 1939 (sleeper shark), are known to actively prey upon seals (Pinnipedia Illiger, 1811). If this peculiar fossil association resulted from active predation, the seal did not survive the encounter because there is no evidence of healing in the area around the embedded shark tooth.

ОПЫТ ПРИМЕНЕНИЯ ИМПЛАНТАТОВ СО СКОШЕННЫМ КРАЕМ ПЛАТФОРМЫ

Purpose: Comparative analysis of the use of implants with modified neck configuration and standard implants with additional bone grafting.&#x0D; Materials and methods: 34 patients with partial tooth loss combined with a horizontal defect of the alveolar bone were included in the study. In group 1 (n = 15) implants with sloped platform edge were placed, in group 2 (n = 19) implants of standard design with directed bone regeneration (GBR) were placed. The primary end point of the study was the level of vertical bone resorption in the implant neck area 6 months after the operation. Secondary endpoints were: pain (VAS) and oedema scores, width of attached gingiva, number of analgesics taken, quality of life and health (OHIP-14).&#x0D; Results: The level of vertical resorption after 6 months in patients in group 1 was 0.04 ± 0.04mm mesially and 0.06 ± 0.05mm distally, in patients in group 2 mesially 1.06 ± 0.35mm and distally 1.00 ± 0.39mm. The use of implants with sloped edge of the platform was characterized by lower pain intensity the first 7 days after surgery (p &lt; 0,001), lower severity of collateral edema (p &lt; 0,001), lower consumption of NSAIDs on 1, 3, 5, 7 days (p = 0,002, &lt;0,001, &lt;0,001 and 0,008, respectively), lower total OHIP-14 score (p = 0,047) on 7 days. After 4 months, the width of attached keratinized gingiva was 3.6 (3–3.8) mm in patients in group 1 and 2 (1.5–2.1) mm in group 2.&#x0D; Conclusion: The use of implants with a sloped platform edge is characterized by a lower level of vertical resorption and allows for a more comfortable postoperative period.

Features of the state of occlusion with partial loss of teeth (literature review)

This article provides an overview of literature sources devoted to the peculiarities of the state of occlusion in partial loss of teeth and modern methods of studying occlusive relationships. The clinical picture of partial tooth loss is quite diverse, while changes in occlusive relationships may occur due to the development of deformities of the dentition, the formation of traumatic occlusion, changes in the function of a group of teeth in the presence or absence of antagonists. An increase in the functional load on the preserved teeth entails a structural restructuring of occlusion, which at the initial stages of compensation manifests itself in the form of localized increased erasability of teeth with an increase in the area of occlusal contacts, enamel cracks, and then, as the reserve capabilities of the periodontal decrease, leads to the appearance of mobility and a change in the position of teeth.

There are various types of removable partial dentures, one of which is made of thermoplastic nylon. Objectives: To describe patient satisfaction using thermoplastic nylon-based removable partial dentures in West Jakarta. Materials and Methods: a descriptive observational study using a cross-sectional method. 109 Respondent participated in this study. A Validated quesionnaire containing 20 questions was given via Google forms to measure patient satisfaction. Results: 20 questions that have passed the validity and reliability tests, the results show that the age group that uses the most nylon thermoplastic RPD is 36-45 years (42.2%). There were more female respondents than female respondents (67.49%). Most of the denture use time is less than 1 year (56%). The highest distribution of tooth loss was a combination of anterior and posterior teeth (42.2%), front of the maxilla (23.9%), back of the mandible (21.1%), back of the maxilla (11.9) and the least was the front of the mandible (0.9%) ). As many as (1.8%) were dissatisfied, 12.8% were satisfied, and 85.3% were very satisfied with their thermoplastic nylon removable partial denture. Conclusion: 93 respondents were very satisfied with their thermoplastic nylon removable partial dentures.

A Case report of full-mouth implant placement utilizing 3D-guided surgery

Dental implants are widely recognized as a dependable and cost-effective solution for replacing missing teeth. Achieving successful outcomes in modern implantology and prosthetics depends on rigorous diagnostic methods and diligent planning that meet the expectations of patients and dentists and leverage advancements in materials and digital technologies. The predictability and success rates of implant dentistry have significantly improved following the development of computed tomography, implant planning software, guided implant surgery techniques, and advanced materials. This report presents the case of a 54 year-old healthy male with partial tooth loss who received seven implants in the upper jaw and six in the lower jaw. Based on comprehensive Cone Beam Computed Tomography imaging, the treatment plan was devised to support a fixed prosthesis. Precise implant placement, guided by the treatment plan, addressed the optimal prosthodontic requirements while minimizing invasiveness through a flapless surgery approach. The landscape of rehabilitation practices is evolving due to the incorporation of computer-aided design in treatment planning and the increased application of computer-assisted manufacturing. Guided implant techniques have emerged as a means to mitigate the limitations associated with traditional methods. Compared to conventional approaches, guided implant surgery significantly improves implant placement precision by reducing chairside time, involves minimally invasive procedures, and augments predictability.

The toothed members of Pterosauria display an extremely wide range of tooth morphologies that supported a variety of feeding habits. Histological studies on the teeth of different pterosaur clades are potentially valuable in understanding the development of their tooth diversity. In this study, we used histological sections and scanning electron microscopy to describe and interpret the tooth microstructure of Hamipterus (Pterodactyloidea). Our analysis is based on seven teeth of Hamipterus (six isolated and one from a skull) from the Lower Cretaceous collected in Hami, China. Our results show that the enamel on the tooth crown is thin (~25 μm) in Hamipterus and covers only approximately half of the tooth crown. This thin enamel of the Hamipterus tooth makes it vulnerable and often becomes damaged during taphonomic and diagenetic processes. The radicular pulp inside the conical-shaped root shows a spindle space with a small foramen at the bottom, while the coronal pulp shows a small tunnel (100-140 μm in diameter). We estimate that the small teeth of Hamipterus likely took approximately 80 days to form. Furthermore, the tooth has Andresen lines, which represent 7-15 days period. For stable articulation of the tooth in the alveolus, the thick cellular cementum is concentrated on the lingual side of the root. The acellular cementum (~40 μm thick) layer runs from the root to the partial tooth crown.

PALATINE AND PHARYNGEAL REHABILITATION FOR MAXILLECTOMIZED ONCOLOGICAL PATIENTS - A CASE REPORT

A 52-year-old white male patient, non-smoker and non-drinker, was diagnosed with adenoid cystic carcinoma, stage pTN0M0, treated with left subtotal maxillectomy. The treatment consisted of surgery applied to the maxillary bone, followed by radiotherapy, performing 30 fractions of 200cGy. The patient presented a disease recurrence in the sphenoid bone, which was treated with a new cycle of SBRT CP 4/5 × 80cGy radiotherapy. The patient was followed up by dental care during radiotherapy for preventive photobiomodulation of oral mucositis. Afterwards, oral rehabilitation was completed. Upon physical oral examination, the patient presented all teeth in the mandible and partial tooth loss in the maxilla due to the surgical approach. A 5-centimeter bone defect was observed, comprising both the soft and hard palate, and a resin prosthetic device covered the bone defect. In conclusion, our approach promoted occlusal restoration, improving both esthetics and functional speech.
