A convenient palladium-catalyzed carbonylative synthesis of 4(3H)-quinazolinones from 2-bromoformanilides and organo nitros with Mo(CO)6 as a multiple promoter

An interesting and convenient procedure for the synthesis of quinazolinones from 2′-bromoformanilides and nitro compounds has been developed. 26 examples of the desired products were isolated in 41–97% yields.

Palladium-catalyzed synthesis of isoindoloquinazolinones via dicarbonylation of 1,2-dibromoarenes.

A convenient procedure for the carbonylative synthesis of isoindoloquinazolinones has been developed. Using 1,2-dibromobenzenes and 2-aminobenzyl amine as substrates and palladium as the catalyst, the desired products were isolated in moderate to good yields with the installation of two molecules of carbon monoxide. Notably, this is the first example of carbonylative synthesis of batracylin analogues.

Palladium-catalyzed carbonylative synthesis of N-(2-cyanoaryl)benzamides and sequential synthesis of quinazolinones

A convenient procedure for the synthesis of N-(2-cyanoaryl)benzamides has been developed. Using aryl bromides and 2-aminobenzonitriles as the substrates, Mo(CO)6 as the CO source, the desired amides were produced in good yields. Quinazolinones were produced in good yields in a sequential manner as well.

Palladium-catalyzed carbonylative synthesis of N-cyanobenzamides from aryl iodides/bromides and cyanamide

A novel and convenient protocol for the synthesis of N-cyanobenzamides starting from readily available aryl halides and cyanamide via palladium-catalyzed aminocarbonylation has been developed. The protocol utilizes Mo(CO)6 as the CO source or CO(gas) and affords the desired N-cyanobenzamides in moderate to good yields.

Flavone of the month: a general and efficient method for the palladium-catalyzed carbonylative synthesis of flavones has been developed. Starting from aryl bromides and 2-hydroxyacetophenones, the corresponding flavones have been isolated in good yields.

Palladium-catalyzed carbonylative coupling reactions of aryl iodides with hexamethyldisilane (HMDS) to benzoyl silanes

A novel procedure for the palladium-catalyzed carbonylative synthesis of acyl silanes has been developed. Starting from aryl iodides and hexamethyldisilane (HMDS) various benzoyl silanes are produced in moderate to good yields.

Palladium-Catalyzed Carbonylative Synthesis of 2-Quinolones

A highly selective and efficient ­palladium-catalyzed synthesis of 2-quinolones from 2-(2-haloalkenyl)aryl halides via an intermolecular aminocarbonylation under CO atmosphere followed by intramolecular amidation sequence is reported. One example of an isoquinolone is ­reported from the same substrate simply by delaying the introduction of CO to allow the intermolecular amidation first followed by carbonylation sequence. One example of an azaquinolone is reported in good yield (73%).
