The remanent magnetization of red sandstone and siltstone samples of Middle/Upper Carboniferous to Triassic age from four localities in the Paganzo Basin has been measured. Field and laboratory tests demonstrate the stability of the remanence of the thermally cleaned six formation results. The results span the Kiaman Reversed Magnetic Interval. The directions of magnetization confirm previous results from South America, but indicate that the available palaeomagnetic results from the southern continents do not confirm, in detail, existing Gondwana reconstructions.
