Amelioration in nanobiosensors for the control of plant diseases: current status and future challenges

The increase in global population has had a tremendous impact on sustainable agri-food practices. With the growth in world population, various modern technologies are being utilized that more often result in the opening of tremendous opportunities in the agriculture and food sectors. Nanotechnology is used in agri-food sectors for a variety of purposes, including enhancing flavor, pest/pathogen diagnosis, production, processing, storage, packaging, and transportation of agricultural products. Plant pathogenic microorganisms including bacteria, viruses, fungi, and nematodes have a significant impact on the global economy. In particular, advances in nanotechnology, including nanobiosensors, have been used in the detection of plant diseases and pathogens, the evaluation and examination of infections caused by microorganisms, the management of diseases and, thus, the promotion of food security. Apart from the management of plant diseases, nanobiosensors offer better opportunities for sustainable agri-food production by controlling physical, chemical, and biological processes, thus improving food safety and the agricultural economy. This review outlines the application of nano-integrated nanobiosensors for better agricultural and food practices.

Eco-Innovation: Corn Stover as the Biomaterial in Packaging Designs

Shandong, China’s largest agricultural province, generates a massive amount of agricultural waste each year, with corn stover being the predominant type. Although current agricultural waste management primarily involves sustainable practices carried out by professional companies, this study seeks to explore a simpler, more accessible method of handling stover waste. Guided by positivist theory and several experiments, a formula was developed, primarily composed of corn stover powder and natural substances such as glycerin. In this process, we designed and implemented four control experimental groups with water as the quantity used to investigate the influence of different material content in the formula. The resultant material was then subjected to property analyses, including tests on colouration, toughness, etc. Ultimately, the material was applied in a small-scale test as a raw material for an agricultural product packaging design. The study, rooted in sustainability, environmental protection, and the establishment of a local circular economy, fills the gap in current research of lacking design knowledge interventions.

Local Agricultural Product Packaging Innovation as an Effort to Improve Branding and Sustainable Excellence of Farmer Community Products in Ciburial Village, West Bandung Regency

The Joint Partners of Farmer Groups (Gapoktan) in Ciburial Village, West Bandung Regency, has great potential in selling horticultural agricultural products, one of the Gapoktans already has potential market demand is Cipta Mandiri. Gapoktan Cipta Mandiri has a high demand for organic vegetable products, digital media marketing increases awareness and expands the market quickly. The high demand creates new problems for Gapoktan Cipta Mandiri, namely product packaging that is not yet able to protect the product for long distance delivery, while consumer demand is not only from Bandung and its surroundings, as well as other large cities that are pretty far away, packaging innovations are needed that can protect the durability of organic vegetables, which are accessible from chemicals, where product spoilage is faster than non-organic products. Vacuum packaging innovations with cooling and anti-rotting systems need to be developed to support market demand which is already quite rapid. This innovation is expected to increase the potential for economic independence in other Ciburial village communities besides Gapoktan Cipta Mandiri. This research aims to determine the role of organic agricultural product packaging innovation in improving the branding and sustainable excellence of Gapoktan agricultural products. Ciburial Village, West Bandung Regency. A total of 100 samples were used from a population of 200 organic vegetable consumers in large cities, consisting of online consumers of organic products from Gapoktan Cipta Mandiri, Ciburial. The results of packaging innovation are proven to increase brand awareness and knowledge as well as the superiority of agricultural products by 78.25%. The branding strength formed from packaging innovation increases the product's competitive advantage by 85.16%. The indirect influence through the variable between branding has a path coefficient value that is greater than the direct influence path coefficient value. The branding strategy increases the impact of the packaging innovation strategy on the competitive advantage of Ciburial Village Gapoktan MSME products.

Reducing processing time, sorting and packaging of agricultural products

This article examines the reduction in production time for agricultural products by automating production processes. A comparison was made of the amount of time spent at various stages of agricultural production. For comparison, the stages of processing, sorting and packaging were selected. The comparison was carried out using data from five different agricultural producers working with a certain type of agricultural product. The results obtained allow us to assess the level of reduction in production time for agricultural products when automating production processes. The results of the study can be used in developing programs for the development of agricultural enterprises and conducting research in this area of agriculture.

Exploration of Agricultural Product Packaging Design Innovation in the Context of Deep Learning

Abstract Utilizing Internet technology and resources to enhance the packaging design of agricultural products is a critical task for promoting their development in the current era. This study proposes an automatic generation design for agricultural product packaging based on deep learning theory, grounded in the principles of packaging design and market value. To represent the spatial relationship and distribution of color pixels, color moments and color correlation maps are used after obtaining color features of agricultural products through the HSV color space. The grayscale covariance matrix method is employed to get the texture features necessary for the packaging design. Proportion, boundary, pairing, white space, and balance calculations are combined to achieve the layout and typography of feature elements in the agricultural packaging design. The impact of deep learning technology-supported packaging design is analyzed. Data show that in the first group, the average values of the sample group (P001, P002, P004) are 2.98, 3.08, and 2.93, respectively, with an overall average of 2.997, while the overall average of the intelligent group (P003) is 2.96. Overall, deep learning technology-assisted image generation has a positive impact on agricultural product packaging design, contributing to a new level of economic development of farming products.

Research on the Application of Augmented Reality Technology in Agricultural Product Packaging Design

Abstract In this study, we employ 3D modeling technology for the virtual prototyping of agricultural products. Utilizing Unity3D, we integrate data from both virtual and natural environments. This integration allows the 3D models to be visualized within a virtual setting. Additionally, leveraging Kinect somatosensory tracking technology, we have developed a gesture recognition interaction method. This enables packaging designers and users to modify packaging forms, colors, and structures in real-time within the virtual environment. The results of the survey show that consumers prefer multi-sensory, human-centered, and other types of packaging design when choosing packaging. The interaction effect of applying augmented reality agricultural packaging type and market type (R2= 0.079, p=0.001) affects consumer purchase intention. User experience (B=0.334, T=3.385***) was significantly and positively related to applying augmented reality packaging design type. The sense of experience of applying augmented reality to produce packaging use is overall sound, with a mean score of about 4.4. Except for the sense of texture, the mean values of the other nine indicators are all greater than 3, and the evaluations are all in favor of being more satisfied. The use of augmented reality technology in agricultural packaging design is enhanced by the method of this paper.

Integrating Triple-Helix System in Agricultural Education Programme for Development of Employability Skills Among Students in Rivers State

The study examined how the integration of triple-helix system in agricultural education programme would develop students’ employability skills in Rivers State. The study adopted a descriptive survey with three research questions. A random sampling technique was used to select 122 (106 students and 16 lecturers) respondents in agricultural education from the population of 350 in Rivers State University and Ignatius Ajuru University of Education. A self-structured questionnaire designed in 4-point rating scale of agreement was used for gathering data. Data was analyzed using mean and standard deviation with a benchmark mean of ≥ 2.50. Findings from the study revealed that the integration of triple-helix system in agricultural education programme would develop students’ managerial skills such as enhancing their knowledge in planning, communication and risk management skill among others. Finally, it was also found that students would develop fresh ideas towards solving agricultural problems, imaginative thinking for production of agricultural value-addition, critical thinking skills for decision making, initiative skill for alternative method of food processing and skills for improved packaging of agricultural products when triple-helix system is incorporated into vocational agricultural education programme

Reverse Logistics of Pesticide Packaging: A Case Study in Rio Branco/Ac, Brazil

Objective: This study aims to analyze the implementation of reverse logistics in Rio Branco/AC to ensure proper disposal of pesticide and other agricultural product packaging. Theoretical framework: Significant measures are being adopted worldwide to reduce the impact of human activities on the environment over time. In Brazil, the National Solid Waste Policy (PNRS) modernized solid waste management with the implementation of a reverse logistics system that seeks to reintegrate these wastes into the production cycle. Method: For a comprehensive understanding of the subject, a multidisciplinary methodological approach was adopted, which combined a review of specialized literature with data collection through a semi-structured questionnaire applied in eight agricultural stores in Rio Branco/AC. Results and conclusion: The majority of the interviewees had extensive experience in the trade of agricultural products, with 75% of them working in the sector for more than a decade. The research highlights the importance of proper training on handling and disposal of agricultural product packaging, with 87.5% of companies offering this type of training to their employees. However, the study also indicates the need to increase awareness and education to encourage customers to return packaging, as only 37.5% of clients correctly dispose of it. Research implications: To promote proper disposal of empty packaging and minimize negative environmental impacts, it is crucial to raise awareness among users through educational campaigns and training. These efforts should emphasize the negative consequences of improper waste disposal and encourage the practice of reverse logistics. Originality/value: Future studies are necessary for a better understanding of the effect of reverse logistics policies on sustainable agriculture, which should evaluate the effectiveness of these policies and also take into account the possible environmental and social consequences resulting from the inadequate disposal of agricultural waste, including pesticide packaging.

In this PKM, it seeks to develop a home industry by providing packaging equipment in the form of a vacuum cleaner. The method in this PKM provides training on product packaging with a vocum cleaner, provides assistance to create new product packaging by adding better stamps and stickers, provides directions for making oyster mushroom crispy crackers, and explains the importance of digital marketing in this digitalization era.

A Review on Plastic Pollution and Biodegradation of Polyethylene: Indian Region

Plastic is a broad category of organic polymers with a high molecular weight derived from a variety of hydrocarbons and petroleum derivatives. Plastic utilization has accelerated with the global population as a result of technological advancements; plastics and their types have shown a wide range of applications in every aspect of human life, most notably in packaging, transportation, and storage of industrial and agricultural products, raising the serious issue of plastic waste pollution and disposal. Plants, animals, and humans have all been harmed by the ever-increasing proportion of plastics in the environment. Among all plastic types, Polyethylene is the most common type of plastic that is used, therefore it needs to study overall pollution caused by polyethylene plastic type. So, our objective is toprovide a brief review of plastic pollution with preference to polyethylene plastictype , its increasing concentration, and degradation mechanisms. This review focuses on plastic classification, with a focus on plastic biodegradation, specifically polyethylene, and the methodologies and microorganisms utilized for polyethylene biodegradation, with a greater emphasis on India. It will help to understand the status of polyethylene degradation and add preventive measures for its increasing quantity.

Research on the Purchase Intention and Influencing Factors of Brand ecological Agricultural Products

Branding ecological agricultural products can not only meet consumers' demand for high-quality agricultural products, but also an effective way to promote agricultural and rural economic development and achieve sustainable utilization of resources. First, analyze the development and consumption status of brand ecological agricultural products. Secondly, through the analysis of the product cognition, product quality, brand building and consumer purchase intention of the brand ecological agricultural products. Then it is found that: consumer income level, education level, price of brand ecological agricultural products and consumer awareness are important influencing factors of consumers' purchase intention, and the growth environment, cultural background and packaging of agricultural products themselves also have different degrees of influence; Nearly half of consumers maintain a trusting attitude towards all links of the whole industrial chain of branded ecological agricultural products; consumers' purchase intention and decision-making behavior of branded ecological agricultural products are influenced by their family's healthy consumption purpose, purchase channels and information sources. Finally, it is suggested to strengthen the cultivation of brand ecological agricultural products; formulate personalized marketing strategies; carry out various publicity activities to improve consumer awareness; strengthen market supervision; strictly control product quality; reduce production costs to meet public needs.

Application of Graphic Design with Computer Graphics and Image Processing: Taking Packaging Design of Agricultural Products as an Example

With development of economy, all industries have undergone earthshaking changes. Various new technologies are starting to be employed in all aspects of life, and graphic design is no exception. The use of computer graphics and image processing technologies in graphic design can substantially improve design efficiency and make graphic design job more convenient to develop. The requirements for the quality of graphic design are higher. Quality inspection has become a necessary step in the production process, in which the detection of graphic design defects is an indispensable and important link. The traditional graphic design defect detection adopts the method of manual visual inspection, which has the disadvantages of poor stability, long consumption time, and high labor cost. As an efficient computer graphics and image processing technology, convolutional neural network has received extensive attention in graphic design defect detection because of its advantages of high speed, efficiency, and high degree of automation. Taking agricultural product packaging as an example, this paper studies application technology for graphic design defect detection with convolutional neural network (CNN). The main contents are as follows: construct the original YOLOv3 network model, input the graphic design images of agricultural product packaging into the network model in batches according to the computing power of the hardware equipment, train the YOLOv3 network, and deeply study and analyze the experimental results. The related improvement techniques are then given, based on the characteristics of agricultural product packaging design faults. The backbone network, multiscale feature map, a priori frame, and activation function of YOLOv3 are improved, and then performance of the improved model is verified by experiments.

Characterisations of cassava starch and poly(butylene adipate‐co‐terephthalate) blown film with silicon dioxide nanocomposites

SummaryFilms with high permeability are necessary for the packaging of agricultural products that respire to avoid anoxic conditions. This research developed and characterised bioplastic nanocomposite films with enhanced permeation and increased strength. Thermoplastic starch (TPS) was compounded with silicon dioxide (SiO2) and blended with poly (butylene adipate‐co‐terephthalate) (PBAT) to produce bioplastic PBAT/TPS blend films via blown‐film extrusion. Different SiO2 contents (0.5%–1%) were dispersed in the matrices, causing interaction via hydrogen bonding with the TPS phase. SiO2 at 1% significantly improved melting of the polymer blends, giving increasing amorphous ratios of the polymeric films. Microstructures and surface topography indicated voids between incompatible components and porous structures that improved permeation. Increasing SiO2 content linearly enhanced oxygen and water vapour permeability by up to 39% and 16%, respectively. Tensile strength and elongation at break increased and decreased up to 40% and 32%, respectively, indicating increased rigidity due to adding solid nanoparticles to 1%. Migration phenomena of the film components, that is molecules with diol structures and silicon compounds depended on types of simulant and microstructures that induced swelling and release of the compounds. Film permeabilities increased, thereby facilitating air and humidity flow through the packaging.

Model design for factors affecting the packaging of Iranian fruit and vegetables for export

Packaging is one of the most substantial and determinative processes of goods consumption and supply, which can be a competitive advantage in comparison with rivals. Foodstuff packaging ensures that export products are sent to the considered destination without any problem. Moreover, proper packaging of goods and customer satisfaction would boost the sale rate in target markets. This study aimed at designing a model for factors affecting the packaging of agricultural products for export. In order to present a new and comprehensive research in the export and packaging field, qualitative method and qualitative content analysis approach were used. In qualitative content analysis method, experts in the field of packaging and export, businessmen, and top managers of companies that work in fruits and vegetables export were interviewed to identify factors affecting export agricultural goods packaging. Variables were identified by using theme analysis method through MAXQDA Software. The obtained results indicated that factors affecting the packaging include seven categories: environmental factors, physical characteristics, shipping terms, rules and regulations, export destination features, product information, and product type.

Pelatihan pengolahan ikan dan pengemasan produk pertanian untuk pengembangan industri hilir desa Labuh Air Pandan

The agricultural, forestry, and fishery sectors in Bangka Belitung are the second largest contributor to gross regional domestic product (GRDP). At the same time, the manufacturing industry is the sector with the most significant contribution to GRDP. However, Labuh Air Pandan Village is not recorded as a contributor to local revenue, even though this village has the most significant agricultural land compared to other villages because the village products have not competed with other local products. After all, so far, they have been packaged in conventional forms. In addition, as an area directly adjacent to the Bangka Strait, this village has quite a lot of potential for marine products. However, the marine products obtained are only sold in raw commodities without further processing, such as finished products. This activity aims to provide socialization regarding fish processing and product packaging for farmer and fisherman groups in Labuhan Air Pandan Village. The method of this service activity is educative and demonstration by conducting socialization of making fish sauce and socializing product packaging. This activity lasted for one month in Labuh Air Pandan Village. Evaluation is done by providing feedback in the form of a list of questions related to understanding and interest in this activity. Based on the results of the evaluation, it was found that 80% of participants stated that they understood what was conveyed from the socialization of fishery product processing and agricultural product packaging.
