Oxidative thermolysis of long residuum in the presence of activating organomineral additives

The feasibility of manufacturing asphalt composites via the oxidative thermolysis of long residuum in the presence of oil shale and the natural zeolites clinoptilolites was studied. It was found that an asphalt composite with enhanced service properties could be obtained under the given oxidation conditions.

Improving management properties of sandy soils by organo-mineral additives

Sandy soils generally lack of organic and mineral colloids, they have small active surface, low cation exchange capacity (CEC), nutrient supply and buffering capacity and have unfavorable structure developing capability. A common source of organic matter is liquid manure. Application of liquid manure however bears environmental risk, such as leaching of nitrogen or runoff with erosion. (Stefanovits et al., 1999) In the present work, organo-mineral complexes were used to improve the physical and chemical characteristics of sandy soil from the Nyirseg, a representative sandy area of Hungary, to develop better physical, and chemical soil properties and to reduce the hazard of nutrient and organic matter loss and pollution.

A study and comparative assessment of the thinning effect in deflocculants. Part 1. Bauxite-based highly concentrated ceramic binding suspensuons (HCBSs)

The thinning efficiency of deflocculants (dispersing aluminas ADS, ADW-1, M-ADS1, M-ADW1and their binary mixtures; commercial dispersants Giessfix, Dollafax, Costament, and organomineral additives) was tested on bauxite-based HCBS specimens. The thinning efficiency of additives (measured by the decrease in viscosity at low shear rates) is different; the best effect was observed in Giessfix 162 and M-ADS1 dispersants.

Effect of Thinning Agents on Properties of High-Alumina Ceramic Castables

The effect of thinning agents on molding mixtures for the production of high-alumina ceramic castables composed of bauxite HCBS (highly concentrated ceramic binding suspensions) and a refractory filler based on fused corundum and SiC is studied. The thinners used were sodium tripolyphosphate (STPP), SB-5-grade organic plasticizer, mixtures thereof, and liquid glass. The maximum thinning effect is observed for complex organomineral additives (10 – 33% SB-5 + 67 – 90% STPP). The optimum thinner concentration is 0.08 – 0.1 wt.%. The use of thinners makes it possible to reduce significantly the water demand of concrete mixes and leads to a decrease in porosity and an increase in strength of ceramic castables. The composition and concentration of alkali-containing thinners produce little (if any) effect on the deformation behavior of ceramic castables at high temperatures.

Utilization of Wastewater Sludges from Production of Polyacrylonitrile Fibre as an Organomineral Composition for Creation of Landscape Zones

Dehydrated sludges from the purification equipment at Saratovorgsintez Ltd. corresponds to group 2 fertilizers according to GOST R 17.4.3.07-2001. They can be used for growing decorative crops, recultivation, and restoration of disturbed soil in the amount of up to 80 tons/ha. The content of heavy metals in wastewater sludges and the dynamics of the change in them in soils in green landscape plots over six months are found. It is shown that application of cake to soil in the dose of 80, 133, and 267 tons/ha does not increase the mobile forms of metals. The chlorophyll content in the phytomass decreases sharply (by 2-2.2 times), which restricts the amount of cake added to a dose of 80 tons/ha. The Saratovorgsintez Ltd. technology for use of wastewater sludges as organomineral soil additives can be used in other companies with similar wastewater compositions for forming a perennial green landscape.
