Growth and characterisation of sodium thiourea nitrate for optical crystal

Sodium thiourea nitrate (STN) a semi organic optical crystal was grown by slow evaporation technique at room temperature. The cell parameter value and crystal structure was determined Single crystal Xray diffraction study. Presence functional group was identified FTIR study. The cut-off wavelength was determined UV-visible transmission spectrum study. The mechanical strength was analysis using Vicker’s microhardness test.

Growth and characterization of novel organic optical crystal: Anilinium d-tartrate (ADT)

A novel organic nonlinear optical (NLO) crystal of anilinium d-tartrate (abbreviated as ADT) has been grown by the solution growth (slow evaporation) method at room temperature. Transparent crystals of dimensions 4 mm × 2 mm × 1 mm were obtained. The grown single crystal was subjected to different characterization analyses in order to find out its suitability for device fabrication. Single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis reveals that ADT crystallizes in triclinic system with non-centrosymmetric space group P1. FTIR spectrum was recorded to explore information of the functional groups. The placement of protons and carbon was determined using 1H NMR and 13C NMR spectral analyses. The SHG output of ADT was recorded by Kurtz–Perry powder technique. The range of optical absorption was ascertained by recording UV–vis spectrum. The PL spectrum of ADT shows green emission. The dielectric behavior of ADT was investigated at 30 °C, 70 °C and 105 °C are reported. Thermal properties were investigated by thermo gravimetric, differential thermal and differential scanning calorimetric analyses.

Crystal structure and characterization of a novel organic optical crystal: 2-Aminopyridinium trichloroacetate

2-Aminopyridinium trichloroacetate, a novel organic optical material has been synthesized and crystals were grown from aqueous solution employing the technique of controlled evaporation. 2-Aminopyridinium trichloroacetate crystallizes in monoclinic system with space group P2 1/c and the lattice parameters are a = 8.598(5) Å, b = 11.336(2) Å, c = 11.023(2) Å, β = 102.83(1)° and volume = 1047.5(3) Å 3. High-resolution X-ray diffraction measurements were performed to analyze the structural perfection of the grown crystals. Thermal analysis shows a sharp endothermic peak at 124 °C due to melting reaction of 2-aminopyridinium trichloroacetate. UV–vis–NIR studies reveal that 2-aminopyridinium trichloroacetate has UV cutoff wavelength at 354 nm. Dielectric studies show that dielectric constant and dielectric loss decreases with increasing frequency and finally it becomes almost a constant at higher frequencies for all temperatures. The negative nonlinear optical parameters of 2-aminopyridinium trichloroacetate were derived by the Z-scan technique.

Ultafast organic nonlinear optical molecules and the realization of mesoscopic photonic devices

In the twentieth century, revolutionary changes took place in the human society and people’s life-style due to the improvement of the optoelectronic information technology based on the second-order nonlinear optical effects, such as the electro-optic effect, the second harmonic generation (SHG), and so on. Along with the rapid development of light information technology, new principles and methods of nonlinear optics are needed, and the third-order nonlinear optical effects attract great attention. The research progress of nonlinear optics is reviewed in this article. Our research work on the third-order nonlinear optical materials, ultrafast and low-power organic all-optical photonic crystal switching are introduced.

Crystal structure and characterization of a novel organic optical crystal: 4‐chloro‐3‐nitrobenzophenone

AbstractSingle crystals of a novel organic material, 4‐Chloro‐3‐Nitrobenzophenone (4C3N) were grown from acetone solution employing the technique of controlled evaporation. 4C3N belongs to the Orthorhombic system, with a = 12.9665(11) Å, b = 7.4388(6) Å, c = 24.336(2) Å, α = β = γ = 90°. FT‐IR study has been performed to identify the functional groups. The transmittance of 4C3N has been used to calculate the refractive index n; the extinction coefficient K and both the real εr and imaginary εi components of the dielectric constant as functions of photon energy. The optical band gap of 4C3N is 2.7 eV. Thermo gravimetric analysis and differential thermal analysis have also been carried out, and the thermal behavior of 4C3N crystal has been studied. FREQUENCY DOUBLING FROM A NOVEL ORGANIC CRYSTAL

A novel optical nonlinear organic crystal: 2-Furyl-Methacrylic Anhideride(FMA) was grown by solution method. The crystal belongs to the 4 mm of point group and is optically uniaxial. Non-zero SHG coefficients for frequency doubling were d33=24 pm/V and d31=16 pm/V respectively. The polished bulk crystal was used for frequency doubling at type II phase matching. And also the crystal was utilized as nonlinear optical substrate of an SHG waveguide.
