Corrosion of metals and their protection in atmospheres containing organic acid vapours : P. D. Donovan and J. Stringer, British CorrosionJ., 6 (3) (1971) 132–138; 3 figs., 5 tables, 47 refs.
Vapour corrosion is reviewed and results on a variety of plastics and a range of metals are presented. Tests have been carried out on some anodic metal coatings on steel: Mn/Se, Cd/Sn and Zn/Ni coatings have been shown to have moderate resistance to corrosion by organic acid vapours. The dangers of hydrogen embrittlement arising from vapour corrosion attack are pointed out.
