Assessment of Treatment Fidelity Within Applications of Pediatric Constraint-Induced Movement Therapy

This proposal will present and review data from a fidelity-of-intervention tool currently used to evaluate the fidelity of implementation in pediatric constraint-induced movement therapy (pCIMT). Developing of Evaluation Items of Social Play for Preschool Children: Delphi Study

Use of Occupation-Based Outcome Measure and Strength-Based Self-Report With Persons With Substance Use Disorders: A Prospective Cohort Study

ICan-Play: A Content Validity and Clinical Utility Study of a Play Assessment for Children With Severe Multiple Disabilities

The purpose of the study is to examine the content validity index (CVI) and clinical utility (CU) of the iCan-Play assessment. iCan-Play is a play-based assessment for children with severe disabilities (SD), using assistive technology. We used mixed methods to analyze the CVI and CU data from seven experts. iCan-Play has good content validity and CU. The assessment provides a unique opportunity for children with SD to engage in active play through the use of assistive technology. Merging Yoga and OT for Parkinson's Disease: Preliminary Outcomes

We completed a pilot study of an 8-week Merging Yoga and Occupational Therapy for Parkinson's Disease program (MY-OT for PD). MY-OT for PD was a fall-risk self-management program that merged community-based yoga and group OT. Participants served as their own controls during the pilot study. During the intervention period (as compared with the control period), participants experienced reduced self-reported falls, improved fall management and prevention, and improved balance. Metacognitive Model to Promote Independence Among Adolescents With Autism Spectrum Disorder: Implementation of a Shopping Task in the Community

A metacognitive model was developed based on functional cognition and the existing literature, with the aim of promoting independence in everyday functioning among individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). This study examines an application of the proposed model among adolescents with ASD, in the context of conducting a shopping errand in the community. Contribution of Evaluating Daily Functioning to Identify Initial Signs of Mild Cognitive Impairment in Parkinson’s Disease

OT and Confidence to Perform ADLs Among Adults Treated for Cancer

This study examined how adults treated with cancer rated their confidence in and difficulty performing activities of daily living (ADLs) and how that was related to receiving OT services. Participants who attended OT had statistically significantly higher confidence in ADLs compared to those who did not attend. Nearly 75% of participants reported experiencing difficulty completing ADLs after cancer diagnosis. OTs can advocate for referrals to OT and target function in treatment. Effectiveness of the BRIDGE Program: Support for Participation in Group Settings

The BRIDGE program is presented to bridge the social needs of children with sensory processing and integration challenges by providing services in dyads, triads, or quartets. This 12-session program focuses on six themes: whole-body listening, personal space, turn-taking, trading objects and toys, listening and communicating personal ideas, and sportsmanship. Perceived Stress, Sleep Quality, and Sensory Processing Patterns Among Parents of Children With Disabilities

Parents who have sensory processing difficulties register environmental information differently, potentially influencing their stress and sleep. Among 40 parents of children with disabilities, 95% experienced moderate levels of stress and a high percentage of them had sleep issues. Quality of Patient Education Handouts for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Available on the Internet

Handouts were reviewed for overall quality on the basis of completeness and accuracy of the content and readability for patients. Investigation of Sensory Modulation Dysfunction in Children in Congregate Foster Care

A Trampoline Exercise Group: Feasibility, Implementation, and Outcomes

Timing of Discharge From the NICU Among Preterm Infants Is Related to Motor Outcome

The incidence of motor, cognitive, and language delay among children who were born preterm (< 32 weeks gestation) is high. Estimated gestational age at birth appears to influence the timing of discharge, with infants born earlier being discharged later after accounting for the degree of prematurity. Postmenstrual age at discharge appears to be related to motor outcome in early childhood, shedding light on the high-risk nature of this population of infants still hospitalized after their due date. Examining the Effectiveness of OT in the Treatment of Patients Recovering From COVID-19 in the Rehabilitation Setting

A pilot study was completed to examine the effectiveness of OT in helping individuals regain independence in activities of daily living after COVID-19. In a retrospective chart review, statistically significant results (p < .05) on the Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility Patient Assessment Instrument and the Modified Barthel Index demonstrated that OT is effective in the rehabilitation setting to increase individuals' independence following a COVID-19 diagnosis.
