Within the one-boson exchange model, anN/D calculation of elastic lambda-nucleon scattering (below the Σ-production threshold) and of Σ-nucleon scattering in theT=3/2 state has been done in the Zachariasen-Zemach approximation. The scalar, the pseudoscalar and the vector meson exchanges in the crossed channels have been assumed to give rise to the “forces” responsible for the interaction. The antisymmetric spin-orbit term in the hyperon-nucleon scattering matrix has been retained and the spin singlet-triplet mixing (which is a consequence of this term) also investigated. Keeping only the phase shifts and mixing parameters withL<-2 andJ<-2, the polarizations of the scattered hyperon and the recoiling nucleon, and the differential and the total cross-sections have been evaluated. Wherever possible, comparison with experiments is made. The coupling constants of the meson exchange diagrams have been fixed up by invokingSU3 symmetry and in some cases, empirically, by requiring the model to conform to some other requirements.
