This paper reported the tribological behavior of 20 nm size TiO2 nanoparticles added in mineral-based SN-500 oil. All experimental tests were conducted on lubricating oils under different loads and concentrations of nanoparticles. Wear and friction analysis have been done by using pin on disc tribometer. As per results, TiO2 nanoparticles drastically improved tribological properties such as wear, friction and lubricity of oil at 0.5 wt% and 0.75 wt% concentrations of nanoparticles. Also a TiO2 nanoparticle improves load carrying ability of base oil because spheroidal geometry of TiO2 nanoparticles plays ball bearing effect between two mating surfaces. Due to 20 nm sized TiO2 nanoparticles fill debris on metal surfaces, So that friction will be automatically minimized. In addition, rough surface wear analysis analyzed using a scanning electron microscope (SEM).
