Introduction. The article focuses on the importance of psychological training for the Ukrainian officers in the context of their pre-deployment training to the international peacekeeping operations. It is noted that psychological training, as well as psychological selection, is a necessary prerequisite for the national personnel training, one of the most important factors in shaping their readiness to perform assigned tasks, as well as the acquisition of knowledge on relevant topics. Purpose. To define the role and place of the psychological training for national personnel during its pre-deployment training to participate in international peacekeeping operations.Methods. Analysis, synthesis and analogy as the methods of theoretical research were used.Originality. The existing recommendations and guidelines, which are analyzed, don’t encompass the specifics of the national personnel deployed to the peacekeeping operations. The focus of previous studies in the field of psychological training is made on the mixture of both – the national personnel and the national contingent. Taking into consideration the specifics of each and insufficient research of the national personnel pre-deployment training, it is important to separate the psychological training out of the traditional system of moral and psychological support.The key components of psychological training are analyzed. The interrelation of psychological stability and job description peculiarities of the peacekeepers in the context of psychological training for peacekeeping is traced, as well as the specifics of necessary competencies acquisition to develop the psychological readiness. At the same time, when organizing targeted psychological training, it is necessary to take into account the peculiarities of the conditions and the specifics of the tasks of the national personnel, not the national contingent; therefore, they should be learnt separately. The positions that national personnel officers occupy as the peacekeeping operation staff or multinational staff are difficult to attribute to a particular military profession (because they have specifics in the peacekeeping sector, for example: staff officer, officer of a section of a multinational staff, liaison officer, United Nations’ military observer).Conclusion. Considering all the mentioned above, there is no doubt that, at least, special psychological training should be carried out based on the requirements set by the environment of the peacekeeping operation and the tasks set for specific categories of the national military personnel. The study of psychological determinants that affect the level of national personnel performance during their deployment is the prospect for further research; as well as identification of the criteria, forming and shaping psychological readiness of the national personnel to perform their tasks, training activities needed, ways of shaping the psychological stability and resilience, depending on the nature of tasks.
