KOMPETENSI PENYULUH PERTANIAN LAPANGAN DALAM USAHATANI TANAMAN JAGUNG DI DESA KASAKA KECAMATAN KABAWO KABUPATEN MUNA

The maize crop production in Kabawo Sub-district, Muna Regency has decreased. It is suspected that the competence of agricultural extension workers is one of the factors that has a relationship with the decline in production. The purpose of the study was to determine the level of competence of field agricultural extension workers in Kasaka Village, Kabawo District, Muna Regency. The population of the study consisted of all corn farmers in Kasaka Village who received assistance from field agricultural extension officers in farming. This amounted to 78 farmers. A total of 15% of the population was selected as the research sample, which was determined to be 20 corn farmers using the sloving method. Sampling was conducted using a random sampling method. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation, utilizing research media in the form of questionnaires. The data were analyzed using quantitative descriptive analysis, employing the class interval formula to assess the level of competence of field agricultural extension workers in maize farming. The results indicated that the competence of field agricultural extension workers in corn farming in Kasaka Village, Kabawo Sub-district, Muna Regency is generally in the medium category. This can be observed in the technical competence, managerial competence, and communication competence of field agricultural extension workers, which are still moderate. Technical competence describes the ability of extension workers to apply various types of crop cultivation knowledge. It encompasses the ability to apply theoretical knowledge to practical situations and to adapt to changing circumstances. Managerial competence describes the ability of extension workers to organize and manage all forms of resources owned by both themselves and their targets. It encompasses the ability to plan, organize, and coordinate activities and resources effectively and efficiently. Communication competence describes the ability of extension workers to communicate and convey information that can be easily understood by the farmers themselves. It encompasses the ability to communicate effectively and efficiently, using appropriate language and terminology, and to convey information in a clear and concise manner.

Diversity of plant-parasitic nematodes associated with chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) in the main growing areas of Ethiopia

Summary Chickpea is one of the most important legume crops in Ethiopia; however, its production is far below the mean international chickpea production due to biotic and abiotic stressors. Plant-parasitic nematode infestation is extensive in chickpea-growing areas worldwide. The distribution and population density of plant-parasitic nematodes in chickpea were determined during the September-December 2021 growing season. Ten plant-parasitic nematode taxa were identified from 27 localities across ten districts in the main chickpea-growing areas in Ethiopia. Pratylenchus had the highest prominence values, followed by Rotylenchulus and Meloidogyne spp. Helicotylenchus, Hoplolaimus, Scutellonema and Quinisulcius were more prevalent than Criconemoides and Ditylenchus. Sequences of different molecular markers, including D2-D3 of 28S rDNA, ITS of rDNA, and COI and Nad5 of mtDNA, revealed the presence of Meloidogyne javanica, Rotylenchulus parvus, Scutellonema clathricaudatum and Helicotylenchus caudatus. Helicotylenchus caudatus and R. parvus are the first reports from Ethiopia and chickpea, while S. clathricaudatum is the first report for chickpea. This study provides essential baseline information of nematode pest occurrence on chickpea in Ethiopia. This information will raise awareness among growers, agricultural officers, and extension advisors, enabling them to develop effective nematode management strategies for the chickpea production system in Ethiopia.

Asset Management and Performance of Information System-Based Irrigation System (EPAKSI) Case Study of Cabak Irrigation Area, Temanggung Regency

The purpose of this study is to determine the process of data inputted and analyzed through the ePAKSI application, In this thesis used primary and secondary data collection methods. Secondary data as a support for primary data were obtained from the Office of the Public Works and Spatial Planning Office of Temanggung Regency and from the Office of the Food Security, Agriculture and Fisheries Office of Temanggung Regency. The results showed that the data inputted and analyzed with the ePAKSI application included data on asset types, asset names, nomenclature, dimensions and conditions ranging from assets upstream (weir) to downstream (end of the channel) of the Cabak irrigation network and the latest number of assets from field searches in the form of 3 channels, 34 buildings and 14 tertiary plots were known. The results of the evaluation of the performance assessment of the irrigation system of the Cabak Irrigation Area with the ePAKSI application obtained a total value of 63.70% in the less category (55% - 70%) with recommendations for handling needs attention from the Temanggung Regency Government. The details of the evaluation results of the performance assessment of the irrigation system of the Cabak Irrigation Area consist of physical infrastructure with a score of 59.81%, planting productivity 87.84%, supporting facilities 68.00%, personnel organization 71.20%, documentation 62.50% and water user farmer associations (GP3A / IP3A) 30.00%.

Effect of Operation Assessment on Performance of State-Owned Sugar Firms in Kenya

The primary goal of supply chain design is to improve service quality and interaction levels between service providers and customers. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of operation assessment on the performance of state-owned sugar firms. The research employed a descriptive causal research design to provide a cause-and-effect relationship between the variables. The target population comprised all four operating state-owned sugar companies, namely Chemilil, Muhoroni, Sony, and Nzoia. The composition of the target population consisted of four factory managers, four finance managers, five hundred and twenty-four agricultural extension officers, four human resource managers, one hundred and eighty agricultural services personnel, and four strategy and planning managers, bringing the total target population to 720. The simple stratified purposive sampling technique was applied to obtain a sample of 325 respondents. The researcher used questionnaires for data collection. The analysis of the data was executed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) helped in the analysis. The data was organized and presented in tables. The hypothesis was tested at a 95% confidence level. The results indicated that operation assessment had a positive effect on the performance of selected sugar manufacturing firms in Kenya (t = 6.666, p<0.05). Simple regression helped determine the strength and direction of the relationship between the study variables. The study is of importance to potential investors and managers to help in policy formulation. It will also be of importance to academia, which will beef up the study, particularly in the manufacturing sector, and encourage further investigation in the area of performance based on supply chain design. The study recommended the need for managers to use proper data management approaches and tools, ensure timely access to relevant data, and ensure quality control and assurance of field tasks at all times in order to boost operational efficiency, which leads to the realization of profits in the manufacturing enterprise, especially the sugar manufacturing sector.

Adoption of community-based land rehabilitation programs (CBLRP) and its effect on livelihoods in Offa district, south Ethiopia

Land degradation is a major issue in Ethiopia and has a significant impact on agriculture and subsistence. Community-based land restoration projects are essential to address this issue. This study aimed to evaluate the implementation of a community-based land restoration programs and its impact on livelihoods in the Offa District of south Ethiopia. Four Kebeles were randomly selected for the study and 133 household heads (52 program participants and 81 non-participants) were selected using a simple random sampling method. Data was collected by using an interview schedule, focus-group discussions, and key informant interviews. Data were analyzed using a binary logistic regression model, propensity score matching, participation index (PI), t-test, and chi-square test. The results showed that the implemented land rehabilitation measures had higher crop production and farm income for most adopter households compared to their counterparts. The logistic regression model revealed that the slope of farmland, gender of household heads, family size, perception of rehabilitation, access to training, and farm experience positively influenced household participation in the community-based land rehabilitation programme (CBLRP) in the study area. However, the age of the respondents, access to education, size of farmland, frequency of extension contact positively and ownership of livestock negatively influenced household participation. Propensity score matching revealed that CBLRP resulted in higher crop output and farm revenue for most participating families than counterparts. Based on these findings, it is recommended that agricultural and rural development offices, non-governmental organizations, and other stakeholders should consider the factors that influence household participation in rehabilitation programs in the study area to effectively address the issue of the households’ participation at various levels of rehabilitation programs.

AGRICULTURAL EXTENSION DURING THE NEW NORMAL ERA

Since the outbreak of COVID-19 in 2020, the pandemic has seriously impacted agriculture sectors. Coffee farmers are one of the groups significantly affected by this pandemic. In addition, agricultural extension, as one of the essential instruments in improving farmers' knowledge and skills, faces new challenges in providing services after the pandemic ends. This study examines the condition of agricultural extension after the Covid-19 pandemic in Malang Regency from the aspects of extension planning, extension materials, methods, media, and extension evaluation. The research was conducted in AMSTIRDAM sub-districts of Malang Regency. This research used a quantitative descriptive method. The research respondents were 97 coffee farmers randomly selected from 2622 coffee farmers. Primary data were obtained through observation, questionnaire distribution, and respondent interviews. Secondary data were obtained from the Agricultural Extension Office. The results showed that during the COVID-19 pandemic or the new normal era, agricultural extension officers continued to develop programs together with farmers even though it was done without face-to-face interaction (online). Agricultural extension workers also continue to facilitate the preparation of RDKK. During the COVID-19 pandemic, agricultural extension workers conveyed more information about capital. The extension method and media use an indirect approach and the use of social media. In addition, agricultural extension workers also continue to evaluate the impact of counseling during the pandemic. It can be concluded that agricultural extension workers continue to carry out extension activities for farmers even with various adjustments during the COVID-19 pandemic by implementing strict health protocols, including reducing face-to-face activities.

Evaluating the Challenges Facing Small-Scale Sugarcane Farmers (Sugarcane Outgrowers) In Zimbabwe: A Case Study of Chiredzi District in Masvingo Province, Zimbabwe

The study was based on the evaluation of the challenges facing small-scale sugarcane farmers (sugarcane outgrowers) in Zimbabwe and focusing on Chiredzi District. Consequently, the research used phenomenological philosophy to study this phenomenon and the sample was made of 50 persons comprising of 20 sugarcane outgrowers, 5 Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development officials, 5 Ministry of Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises, 5 Agritex, 5 Village heads and 10 spouses. Accordingly, the findings from the study show that small-scale sugarcane farmers in Chiredzi District are facing a myriad of challenges and that the government should intervene in order to save the industry. Likewise, microfinance institutions should help sugarcane outgrowers with the much-needed funds for their day-to-day operations. Thus, it was suggested that Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development officials and the Ministry of Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises should help sugarcane outgrowers with establishing a workable relationship with Tongaat as the current one is unhinged in favour of Tongaat Hullets. Similarly, sugarcane outgrowers are playing a vital role in developing Zimbabwe economically. Therefore, should be equipped with the much need entrepreneurship prerequisite skills sets though up-to-date trainings in order to equip sugarcane outgrowers with extant and suave entrepreneurial skills in order for them to increase production and meet the expectations of their miller through capacity building.

An Efficient Crop Yield Prediction System Using Machine Learning

Farming is considered the biggest factor in strengthening the economy of any country. It also has significant effects on GDP growth. However, due to a lack of information and consultation, farmers suffer from significant crop losses every year. Typically, farmers consult agricultural officers for detecting crop diseases. However, the accuracy of predictions made by agricultural officers based on their experience is not always reliable. If the exact issues are not identified at right time then it results in a heavy crop loss. To address this issue, Computational Intelligence, also known as Machine Learning, can be applied based on historical data. In this study, an intelligent crop yield prediction algorithm is developed using various types of regression-based algorithms. The Crop Yield Prediction Dataset from the Kaggle repository is used for model training and evaluation. Among all different regression methods Random Forest has shown the better performance in terms of R2 score and other errors.

ADOPTION OF SORGHUM NATIONAL INTEGRATED SOLUTIONS TECHNICAL PACKAGE BY RAINFED FARMERS, GEZIRA, SUDAN

The effect of climate change on African agriculture represents a major challenge to continental agricultural development including food security, nutrition and management. In Sudan, the yield of rainfed crops is characterized by high variability in the yield due to the high variability in seasonal rainfall and does not exceed two sacs/feddan because the rainfed farmers were adopted low input rainfed agriculture as a risk management option which led to reduce in the yield per unit of land and water. The Federal Ministry of Agriculture has designed and financed a special programme for the traditional the rainfed sector of the country called Integrated Solutions Programme as the main adaptation strategy for the 2014/ 2020 growing seasons to diversify and increase production and productivity of crops cultivated in traditional rainfed areas in each State of the country such as sorghum, sesame, millet and sunflower. This programme was implemented by the Administration of Agricultural Extension and Technology Transfer in each State in collaboration with Agricultural Research Corporation (ARC) and the Agricultural Bank of Sudan. Field survey was used to collect data from 50 rainfed farmers participated in the programme and an equal number from non- participant farmers from the study area were selected (for comparison) using the simple random sampling technique. A close ended questionnaire was constructed and the personal interview technique was used to administer the questionnaire. The collected data were coded, fed to computer and statistically analyzed using (SPSS), discussed interpreted using descriptive statistics and chi-square test. The results showed that the participant farmers adopted the programme components. The majority of chi-square test results revealed no significant association between farmer`s adoption of the programme components and participation in the programme and also no significant association between farmer`s adoption of the programme components and the selected socio-economic characteristics of the respondent farmers. From this study, it can be concluded that the NISP are very effective agricultural extension policy that can be applied in the rainfed sector of the country, which will help rainfed farmers to increase their income through their participation in various activities of the programme. The study recommends that NISP should become the main national policy specially designed for the agricultural rainfed sector of the country, the needed agricultural inputs should be available at a reasonable price, the curriculum of NISP should be updated and developed regularly to solve the constraints that might face the programme, in-service training should be organized for agricultural extension officers on various aspects related to the rainfed sector, various means for conduction the programme should be available, Further agricultural extension research should be conducted

Community Interpreting and Translation in Africa

In an increasingly interconnected world, the relevance of effective communication cannot be overemphasized. Nowhere is this more evident than in the diverse and linguistically rich continent of Africa. With over 2,000 indigenous languages spoken across its vast expanse, Africa presents unique challenges and opportunities for community interpreting and translation. As a matter of fact, community translation and interpretation is a daily occurrence in many African communities, from the newsreader who takes an article from Reuters or BBC and renders it in the local language, adding their own cultural twist, to the master of ceremonies at a traditional marriage ceremony between a couple from different ethnic/ language groups, to the agricultural extension officer whoneeds to translate his message of seedling management to a group of farmers who speaks a different language. In this editorial, we present selected papers from the ATSA conference on Community Interpreting and Translation in the African Context, exploring the significance of language empowerment and the bridging of linguistic divides.

Minat Kerja Generasi Muda Pada Sektor Pertanian di Desa Ngablak Magelang

Agriculture is the use of natural resources to produce food. The phenomenon that occurs is a decrease from year to year in the number of workers. Data shows that there has been a shift in interest in working in the agricultural sector. Efforts to increase the interest of the younger generation in the agricultural sector require an intensive and structured policy design. This research was carried out in Ngablak village, Magelang Regency. This research uses a qualitative method with a case study approach. The research subjects were young people aged 19 to 27 years. Data analysis was carried out with 3 participants and 1 informant using purposive sampling techniques. Data collection by observation and interviews. Non-participant observation, while the interview technique carried out by the researcher was an in-depth interview using a semi-structured method. Passion research results emerged because of work motivation, attractiveness to work and work activities. External factors that influence this are HR innovation, technology upgrades and human resource improvements. Other factors include government support, namely agricultural extension officers and fertilizer subsidies. This research also indicates that the interest of rice farming family members is low in working in the rice farming sector because of minimal income. A person's passion in the agricultural sector is influenced by interest in the field of work, motivation and work activities. External factors that influence passion are HR innovation, technology upgrades. and improving human resources. The suggestion is that there is an additional variable, namely the gender variable. Suggestions for improvement for the development of agricultural technology include agribusiness development, collaboration or research with developed countries that have already used technology in agriculture.

Responding to outbreaks of illness linked to unpasteurized milk: A needs assessment of state health and agriculture departments.

Consumption of unpasteurized milk can result in severe illness or death. In the United States, the number of people who regularly consume unpasteurized milk is relatively low, but outbreaks resulting from unpasteurized milk outnumber outbreaks linked to pasteurized milk. The sale of unpasteurized milk for human consumption through interstate commerce is prohibited at the federal level, but laws among states vary considerably with respect to the sale of unpasteurized milk. Each state has a different perspective on responding to and preventing outbreaks of illness linked to consuming unpasteurized milk. We conducted a needs assessment of state health and agriculture departments to gather information on state-level strategies to prevent illnesses linked to consuming unpasteurized milk, characterize challenges states face, and identify areas where partners can support state efforts to prevent illnesses. We deployed a survey from 6 January 2021 to 1 March 2021, using a snowball sampling strategy and had 158 respondents. Of 115 respondents, 46 (40%) believed that state laws were ineffective in preventing illnesses, and 92 (80%) agreed that consumers continue to find ways to get unpasteurized milk despite laws restricting sale. Respondents from 19 states were aware of future legislative or regulatory efforts surrounding unpasteurized milk in their state, with 14 (74%) indicating these efforts would expand consumer access. The most common outbreak prevention strategies respondents mentioned included sharing knowledge and experiences with other public health and agriculture officials, providing information to inform legislative efforts, and communicating to the public about outbreaks. Most respondents (41/50, 91%) were interested in pursuing further efforts to prevent unpasteurized milk-associated illnesses in their state. The results from this needs assessment can be used to inform future strategies for preventing illness outbreaks associated with unpasteurized milk consumption.

It's not all about drought: What “drought impacts” monitoring can reveal

Drought impacts monitoring has been called the missing piece in drought assessment. The potential to improve drought management is high but uncertain due to rare analyses of impacts datasets, predominantly because there are few impacts monitoring programmes to generate the datasets. Drought impacts monitoring is conducted on the ground in much of Brazil by local observers at monthly and municipality scale to support the Brazilian Drought Monitor. In Ceará state, within drought-prone semiarid northeast Brazil, over 3600 drought impacts reports were completed by agricultural extension officers from 2019 to 2022. We investigated, through manual coding and observer interviews, the reported drought impacts and impact drivers. Analysis provided a catalogue of the experienced impacts and showed that impacts still occur, and are often normalised, during non-drought periods, sometimes as lingering effects of previous droughts. The impact drivers were predominantly non-extreme hydrometeorological conditions or a result of socio-technical vulnerabilities such as insufficient water infrastructure. The normalisation of “impacts” included, in particular: a generally accepted high level of crop losses and consistently low reservoir levels around which the agricultural and domestic systems are adapted. Conventional drought indices often did not align with experienced impact severity, highlighting the limitations of relying solely on these indices for emergency response. Continual impacts monitoring could be extremely valuable anywhere in the world for identifying vulnerabilities and informing proactive measures to reduce drought and other hazard risk, in addition to guiding targeted mitigation efforts.

KOMPETENSI DAN PEMBERIAN TUNJANGAN FUNGSIONAL SERTA PENGARUHNYA TERHADAP KINERJA PENYULUH PERTANIAN LAPANGAN KABUPATEN MUNA BARAT

The research problems are: 1) Do competence and provision of functional allowances simultaneously have a significant effect on the performance of agricultural instructors?; 2) Does competency have a significant effect on the performance of agricultural instructors?; 3) Does the provision of functional allowances have a significant effect on the performance of agricultural instructors? The approach used uses quantitative methods in answering research problems, by conducting a survey of all agricultural instructors in West Muna Regency in 11 UPTs of Agricultural Extension Centers and Agricultural Service Headquarters, totaling 68 people, and a sample of 40 respondents was determined using the Slovin method in determine the number of samples. The research instrument is a questionnaire with a Likert scale with a score range of 1-5. Data analysis used a multiple regression model, with the help of SPSS version 26. The significance test used an alpha criterion of 0.05 to test the proposed hypothesis. The results of the research were concluded: 1) Competency and provision of functional allowances simultaneously had a significant effect on the performance of agricultural extension officers; 2) Competence has a significant effect on the performance of agricultural instructors; 3) providing functional allowances also has a significant effect on the performance of agricultural instructors. Both variables show a positive influence, meaning that the better the competence and satisfactory provision of functional allowances, the better the performance of agricultural instructors.

Assessing prevalence of misperceptions in agricultural activities of smallholder farmers in Tanzania

Misperceptions in agriculture are challenging the adoption of agricultural technologies in African developing countries. Incorrect beliefs such as agricultural inputs have effects on soil, crop yields and human health, have led some smallholder farmers conduct traditional agriculture, resulting in low yields, of poor quality. This research studied prevalence of misperceptions among smallholders in Tanzania when dealing with agricultural inputs (fertilizers, pesticides and seeds). To accomplish this, agricultural extension officers in research areas were interviewed to learn inaccurate beliefs held by farmers which were then validated by agricultural experts through semi-structured interview to identify misperceptions; identified misperceptions helped to design a questionnaire with TRUE and FALSE statements, rated on a 5-point Likert scale, which was administered to 431 smallholders in four districts in Tanzania. Descriptive statistics helped to learn prevalence of misperceptions, regression analysis determined association of predictors on misperceptions. Results revealed respondents were confident with inaccurate beliefs while dealing with agricultural inputs which confirmed prevalence of misperceptions among smallholder farmers in pursuit of agricultural activities. To help smallholders adopt agricultural technologies, agricultural extension systems need to minimize associated misperceptions and adopt strategies that can help farmers access correct agricultural information. The essence is to improve yields, efficiency and profitability in agricultural sector.

Exploring the Factors Affecting Job Satisfaction among Sub Assistant Agricultural Officers in Dinajpur District, Bangladesh

Ensuring job satisfaction is imperative due to its constructive impact on employee welfare, motivation, and output. Exploring the SAAOs’ extent of job satisfaction and finding out the influences of different socio-economic factors towards their job satisfaction, were the aims of this study. Data were collected using a pre-tested interview schedule from randomly selected seventy- one (71) SAAOs of seven upazilas of Dinajpur district. SAAOs’ job satisfaction was measured based on his/her extent of satisfaction with 10 selected items using a 4-point rating scale. The percentages, means, and standard deviations were employed to summarise the data gathered during the interviews. The inferential statistical investigation involved using correlation and regression analysis. Findings revealed that the highest proportion (53.5 percent) of the respondents had medium job satisfaction. The SAAOs were mostly dissatisfied with the financial support and lack of necessary supplies from the office provided by the organization. Ten independent variables namely, additional education, job demand, job control, organizational support, perceived colleagues’ support, job facilities, managerial orientation, psychological well-being, self-efficacy, and job performance had significant positive relationships with job satisfaction according to correlation analysis. According to multiple regression analysis, 64.4 percent of the variance in job satisfaction could be explained by all the independent variables, and organizational support, perceived colleagues’ support, psychological well-being, and job performance were the most significant factors. However, perceived colleagues’ support had the highest contribution (56.2 percent) in explaining the job satisfaction of SAAOs. For ensuring the job satisfaction of SAAOs, Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) can emphasize on strategies like professional development of the SAAOs, feedback, rewards and accolades and a supportive organizational culture.

Expert System for Diagnosing Corn Plant Diseases Using the Web-Based Certainty Factor Method

In the process of corn plant growth, it often faces the threat of various diseases that can hinder optimal growth. Dealing with this issue often requires the presence of a plant expert, such as a field agricultural extension officer. However, limitations in the human resources of agricultural extension officers, time constraints, and geographical distances often make it difficult for farmers to get direct assistance from experts. To overcome these constraints, a system capable of addressing issues related to corn plant diseases, similar to the role of an expert, is needed. In this study, the Certainty Factor method is employed, suitable for an expert system that measures the level of uncertainty, and through testing with 28 sample data cases, the accuracy level of this system reaches 90%.

Agricultural extension officers' adoption of ICT‐based extension services: A critical realist approach in Mali

AbstractInformation and communication technology enables extension services to farmers in developing countries. Although they have been deployed and adopted by farmers, the causal mechanisms (i.e., processes through which a result is brought about) underlying their adoption and use have not been adequately studied. This study uses the Critical Realism philosophical perspective to understand and integrate the various factors into a consistent and coherent model for adopting information and communication technology‐based extension services by agricultural extension officers in Mali. The study gathered data from 26 extension officers and farmers in Koulikoro and Segou, Mali. We analyzed the data using thematic analysis with the help of the qualitative data analysis software NVivo. The results revealed that the successful adoption of information and communication technology based extension services is the leading factor that can cause extension officers' satisfaction with agricultural extension services. This satisfaction drives societal change, that is, farmers improving their knowledge of extension services and extension officers efficiently disseminating them. In turn, this change may result in higher yield and, thus, better productivity. These findings guide policymakers, managers, and network providers for higher productivity in developing countries.

In an organization, good coordination is needed with regard to the abilities and expertise of employees, so that by itself the employee's duties can be carried out properly with full responsibility. That way it will create job satisfaction and give effect to the work effectiveness of each employee. One of the most important organizational components is coordination and work effectiveness. In an effort to achieve work effectiveness, the Food and Agriculture Office of the City of Cimahi has tried various efforts which basically cover four management functions, namely planning, organizing, implementing and supervising. The four management functions are carried out by the Food and Agriculture Service of Cimahi City with the aim of integrating the efforts of each individual and work unit within the Service in order to achieve the expected goals. The research objective was to find out the effect of coordination on work effectiveness in the Food and Agriculture Service of Cimahi City. Quantitative research methods were used in this study where employees of the Cimahi City Food and Agriculture Service became the population with a sample of 78 people. The technique used is simple linear regression analysis. The results obtained in this study were obtained by analysis of the coefficient of determination test known that the R-Square coefficient value was 0.836 or 83.6%, so it can be concluded that the effect of the independent variable, namely coordination on work effectiveness in the Food and Agriculture Service of Cimahi City, was 0.836 or 83.6% . In addition, the remaining 16.4% was influenced by other factors that were not present in this study.

The Effectiveness of Agricultural Extension Communication on Coconut Farmers Behavior Change in Farm Management in Enok District, Indragiri Hilir, Riau

This research evaluated the effectiveness of agricultural extension communication in influencing the behaviour change of coconut farmers in farm management in the Enok District, Indragiri Hilir, Riau. The research employed a quantitative method, utilizing a questionnaire as the primary instrument, with a sample size of 100 coconut farmers in the Enok District. The results indicate that farmers' interactivity during extension sessions is influenced by the relevance of the material to their needs. The communication media, information sources, and messages the extension officers convey significantly impact communication effectiveness. Overall, the effectiveness of agricultural extension communication in the Enok District is positive, with most farmers providing positive feedback on the team's abilities, message relevance, and media used. Hypothesis testing results reveal a significant improvement in the effectiveness of agricultural extension officers after the intervention, reflecting their ability to present relevant material that motivates farmers' behaviour change. These findings provide a basis for recommending a more active and strategic role for agricultural extension officers in designing and delivering extension programs. The success of these programs is also reflected in the tangible actions adopted by farmers, such as implementing better farming techniques and adopting more sustainable farm management practices. This research provides in-depth insights into the factors influencing the effectiveness of agricultural extension communication and contributes to the research literature in this field.
