Roe, Siegelman. The authors substantiate violations of the emotional sphere in the family, personality disorders of the parents at the background of chronic stress to the level of clinically significant and reflected in behavior and in relations with the child. The article presents the results of an empirical study of the parental attitude type and psychoemotional state of parents of children with ASD using the following methods: the parental attitude questionnaire by Varga and Stolin: Beck Depression Scale, Well-Being, Activity, Mood (SAN) questionnaire. The study results showed that the level of anxiety of parents of children with autism is higher than the level of anxiety of parents raising children developing within the normal range; but the level of well-being and mood is lower. The dominant styles of parent-child relations are cooperation, acceptance of the child and the lack of attitude towards him as a little loser, that indicates the acceptance of the child diagnosis and behavior; symbiosis, as the parent perceives himself and the special child as a single whole; low level of control due to the practical impossibility of its implementation for the child’s behavior unpredictability. Based on the study results, the authors propose recommendations to draw up a program of psychological and pedagogical assistance to parents bringing up children with autism spectrum disorder.
