The collaborative work between the quality working groups of the two professions had led to two previous study days, bringing together those working in rheumatology and care of the elderly. This conference was targeted at pairs of occupational therapists and physiotherapists caring for elderly people in the same workplace, with the aim of encouraging multidisciplinary goal setting, outcome measures and audit. The morning was chaired by Sally Gore, District occupational therapist, Southampton and South West Hampshire Health Authority, a member of the COT Quality Assurance Working Party. She was followed in the afternoon by Ann Hunter, director of therapy services, Guy’s and Lewisham Trust, and chairman of the CSP Quality Assurance Working Party.
